[Solved] Cm10.2 nightly media fc's - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there, I'm having an issue with my media process force closing.
CM10.2-20131004-nightly
I understand that it is a nightly and support is very limited..
I didn't have this issue before, but I had to go back to stock as I installed a kernel and lost my IMEI.
I solved that issue.
But going back to cm10.2 I can't seem to fix the media force closing.
I tried formatting my internal memory, fixing permissions, and re-flashing(with wiping data+cache of course).
Should I try a different kernel?
Should I just go back to stock and try try again?

I found my fix.
I flashed semaphore 3.2 with Odin! and reflashed cm10.2. Data+cache wipe, dalvik wipe. Flash again. Reboot. Fixed.

Facebook and camera on aosp cm7 mod

How do I get Facebook and camera working after flashing to aosp gingerbread cm7 mod. Can't find a workaround or an update to fix. Is it still in the works?
Sent from my SUPERHERO using XDA App
The ROM is currently an unstable WIP, and the Camera does not work.
I haven't heard about any Facebook issues though. What exactly is the problem you're having with FB?
The Facebook that was on gapps FC when I go to sync in accounts and on desktop as a widget. Reinstalled twice once on hard reset and ounce in flash recovery/reboot

Hm, I've heard of people having FC issues for certain apps when they don't correctly wipe.. what recovery are you using, and did you wipe EVERYTHING (except SD card of course) before flashing the ROM/gapps?
Cwm 3/ recovery is 2.05. Did a backup of froyo then install gb aosp latest as of 5days ago. Then install of gapps latest as of 5days ago. And went thru the steps of (install rom from card) install /wipe cache option and then reboot

When you say wipe everything can you briefly describe. Maybe I'm missing a step?

Okay, make sure you have the CWM version 3.0.0.5 from the aospGBMod thread, as well as the newst version of gapps and the ROM itself from that thread.
Before you flash the ROM, from the CWM Recovery main menu, go to Mounts and Storage. From there: format boot, system, data, and cache. (Do NOT format sdcard!) Then at the CWM Recovery main menu, wipe data/factory reset, just for good measure. Then try flashing the newest ROM, followed by the flashing of the newest gapps, and try to boot. See if that doesn't fix it.
Obviously, nandroid first if your current install is important to you.
This should fix any FC issues. Most issues people have with that ROM come from people not wiping correctly or from using a recovery that doesn't wipe correctly.
Word! Will try and will report back with results

Worked. Thank you

Force closes after root & speedmod flash

Hi, i have a lil problem with my phone.
After rooting and flashing to the speedmod all my apps i downloaded b4 procedures are forceclosing upon start. All of them. Problems are resolved after reinstall (tested on opera mini).
It is a problem because my wifi is not accessible atm and im using only 3g... Any ideas on how to fix it?
Also, i o/c my phone to 1,3GHz... Does that matter?

Try it without the overclock and see if that fixes it. You could also try clearing cache and dalvik-cache (you can do both of these in CWM)

[Q] How to fix FC's on ParanoidAndroid v1.5?

Q as in subject. Apps such as E-mail, Exchange Services, Maps, Chrome, etc. When 1 FC occurs, the next follow in 30-60 seconds. Anyone experiencing the same?
Thanks.

Wipe cache and dalvik cache and re flash the ROM. If it still does the same you will have to wipe your data, cache and dalvik cache and perform a clean install.
But I can't find any new version of PA..
Sent from my Galaxy Note running ParanoidAndroid v0.4 using XDA Premium xD
Thanks for your reply. I already tried the first; wipe cache + dalvik cache. Now I'm indeed going to try the same and reflash the PA ROM + gapps... This is so weird, because before I went to v0.4a (yeah, OP was wrong version sorry) I already performed a clean install (Odin: GB LC1, which is wipe version > Mobile Odin: CF-root LC1 > CWMR: wipe data + jBroid kernel cleaning > CWMR: flash PA v0.4a + gapps).
Still experiencing the FC's ! Now I will have to try to clean install again, later. Starting to worry if somethings wrong with my Note..
Try dpis that are more stable, 160, 180, 200, 213, 220, 240 etc

Thanks for your suggestion! However, since PA came out I'm only and still on Stock Tablet mode (213 dpi) and I run some apps on Stock Phone mode (320 dpi), other values I've never tried...
Oknow thats eliminated, how did you go to paranoid rom? Might something in your upgrade procedure.
If you dont mind data and setting loss, I think its safe kernel. Put zipfile of paranoid on external card, take the externel card out, then go recovery wipe everything. In mounts format system, data. Thrn put external sdcard back in and install.
That should fix everything.
Just to be carefull backup efs first and check th emmc brickbug app out first, the one that scans your partition for corrupt data its in the fourth section of n7000 xda forum

In mu 2nd post there's an explanation of my trail to PA v0.4a.
But I don't mind data and setting loss, I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I'll definitely give this a try. Thanks.
Luckily I already got a backup of my EFS partition; and right now I'm going to check what this brickbug app's got for me. I'll report the outcome before taking above steps. Again thanks for your help with this.
EDIT: So, the app showed me that I have the Insane chip and congratulated me after 337s with a passed test. Are these good results?
Did you wipe?
Not yet, tomorrow I'm going to try what baz77 said earlier, to wipe everything via recovery.
Did u use titanium backup to restore if yes dont restore system apps thats what i experienced before just use for user apps
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
No, I didn't use Titanium Backup to restore any apps...
Meanwhile I have wiped my phone (wipe data/factory reset + format system) and installed PA v0.4a again. Atm all my apps are being restored by my Google account. After this I'm going to configure everything again, hope there aren't FC's anymore! I'll let you guys know.
I think it worked... hope the FC's stay away now! Thanks guys.

Auto rebooting on CM9.1 (and CM9.0)

Hello mates,
I flashed CM9.0 on my galaxy note and it all went well but in the latest days it was autorebooting himself, kinda out of the blue. Then I flashed the updated rom CM9.1, hoping to this bug disappear, but it still going on.
Anyone knows how to fix that? I was thinking that it might be a kernel problem, but i really don't remember wich kernel I flashed in the first place.
I was thinking to flash Paranoid Android Rom, but I just can't find a stable one, any one knows how to find it?
thanks
Try to go to any stock rom....then see if it is still exist

Did you flash a custom kernel? You can also try clean note.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
I've just flashed another kernel and it is stupidly fast.
If I want to clean galaxy note, how can I do that?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
easy clean install first, dont restore data or apps, ever, and fix permissions solve 99% of the cases.
Just stick to procedures.
heres mine:
on safe kernel and safe kernel recovery(safe cwm)
wipe cache, dalvik and factory reset,
then format all(except efs and take out external card) in mounts
put external back in, reboot recovery, phone wont boot anymore but dont worry about that.
then install cm zip, gapps reboot, done! first boot takes time.
all at own risk,
you will lose data,
but the issues will not be caused by restoring of apps/data, or other crap lingering

[Q] i9001 crashed, not starting anymore

Today i had my phone on the charging cable. Reactivated it: everything crashed: trebuchet crashed / sms crashed /whatsapp crashed.
So i took the battery out, tried to restart it. It won't boot, just the Cyanogenmod Circle for 5min+.
Flashed again, same result. Flashed new rom (from davidteri 10.1.0 RC to 10.2 Beta 9.) but now it's stuck at Android is updating / Starting Apps (maybe it's called different, just translating from german).
Any ideas / thougts??
You can't just install cm10.2 over cm10.1 without wiping data. It's a different android version. Try to install cm10.1 again and wipe cache and dalvik cache and fix permissions. If that doesn't work, then I'm sorry but you have to wipe data. If this is the case, do a nandroid-backup. After installing the new rom you can use titanium backup or AppExtractor to extract your apps out of the backup
Greetings, käsebr0t.

Did that, but the problem occured earlyer...
So i went to and seen in log: "can't format unknown volume /emmc", does that mean brick bug got me and my phone is gone?
Did you do a full wipe? If yes and and it still doesn't work it could be a hardware failure, maybe emmc brick bug

yes i did, will try it a second time...
If it still doesn't work, try to flash back to a stock rom. You can use this guide:
