I have a Samsung Galaxy Mini and I succesfully rooted it, however it seems to be impossible to add cyanogen to it cause ii need clockworkmod recovery
1. I tried downloading it from the stock loader (on the update from sdcard place thing ) and it will just freeze when it comes to Replacing stock recovery with ClockWorkModRecovery. I have tried severall versions of it, including the one that came from the clockworkmod website but all of them just freeze
2. I tried connecting them to the pc but samsung kies can't see my phone and i can't even find all the files needed to use them on Odin
so what do I do????

First of all make sure you installed drivers in Samsung Kies. After, make sure to have working version of odin. Tried connecting the booting into download and see if it detects it?

Make sure your mini has gingerbread and samsung drivers installed on your pc/laptop.
Before you begin please make sure your battery has at least 70% of charge.
1. Download Odin Multidownloader v4.38 for GTS5570, Tass_v1.ops and Clockwork Mod Recovery v4.0.0.5(tass-recovery-cwm.tar) if you do not have them already. (Attachments)
2. Run Odin Multi downloader v4.38 and select the Tass_v1.ops by clicking OPS button.
3. Select One Package Option and Click One Package button and select the tass-recovery-cwm.tar file you downloaded.
Leave other settings to default (i.e. don’t change any other options/settings)
4. When you are done reboot your phone in download mode (Press Volume Down + Home + Power button to go to download mode)
5. Connect your phone in download mode to your computer via USB Cable.
6. When Odin detects your phone (If you see a com port number written in yellow background at the top left, then your phone is detected. View image.), click Start button.
7. Wait till Odin finishes the job (approx. 3-5 minutes) and when it reports ‘PASS’, you can disconnect your phone.
Go to the recovery mode (Press Home + Power button) and see your new recovery with tons of useful options. Now that you have CWM recovery you will be able to do just more than nandroid backups. You can also partition your sdcard as well as flash a custom rom on your galaxy pop. Go ahead and experiment with various options. But, be careful playing with your device’s recovery is very risky task if you lack appropriate information or skill.

Hi team!
Im new to this, may i ask..
Am i able to go from stock 2.1 straight to 2.3.3 by following this guide....
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/how-to-install-xxjvo-android-2-3-3-gingerbread-rom-on-your-galaxy-s/
Or will i encounter problems? do i need to go to 2.2 first?
Has anyone got the skills to give me some answers? if so thanks!
I didn't look at that guide in particular, it's like when someone does your homework for you... but it is possible to go straight to 2.3.. If your worried just go to 2.2 first...
that is all
Yeah, sure! With Odin, you can goo from any version to any version back and forth - a lot of people even use stock 2.1 to get a clean install before flashing something new, so don't worry. Just use a stock JVO version with bootloaders (there should be "Sbl" in the name of the PDA file). I alway flash stock ROMs with pit file and checked repartition - just 1) get in Odin and mount PDA (with bootloaders), Phone and CSC,also mount the pit file and check repartition, 2) turn off you phone and after that get in Download mode (Volume up+menu button+Power button), 3) connect the phone to your pc and hit start button in odin
Do not forget to take out sim card and memory card before flashing

4.Select the PDA,pit,Modem,CSC file in Odin.
5.Turn the phone into the download mode by pressing and holding VolumeDown+Home+Power.
6.Connect your phone with your computer and wait until the drivers are installed.

what have you tried to do to fix this already?
ICS Bad Idea!!!
I wouldnt recommned updating to ICS especially through kies i had my phone stuck at "firmware upgrade encountered an issue please select recovery mode in kies and try again" for 2 days It was a disaster. So i came across a website called http://androidromupdate.com/2012/09...-firmware-upgrade-official-kiesota-stock-rom/
I then downloaded the the I927UCLH2 ICS 4.0.4 Original Stock ROM using ODIN... FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THROUGH THE SITE NOT KIES!! BUT THE ORIGINAL STOCK ROM!
***After you have successfully completed the stock rom with ODIN***
Get a rom from http://forum.jakar.co/android-hack/1345758298/ Choose the ROM called Bio360 its almost the same Replica of Gingerbread its Version 2.3.5
VERY IMPORTANT!! Make sure you put the ZIP FILE (ROM) in your INTERNAL STORAGE NOT THE EXTERNAL!!! (SD CARD SLOT) BIG MISTAKE!!
Go to google and type in "CWM captivate glide new" click the first link beggining with www.theandroidsoul.com........ FOLLOW DIRECTIONS THROUGH THE SITE!
After you have downloaded the Rom (ZIP FILE) and CWM put your phone into Recovery mode by powering off the device. hold power button and the volume down button until you see clockwork recovery, from here you are going to look for install from sd card and look for the zip file/Rom Bio360 and you should be set!
*******THE Bio360 Rom is also Rooted so there is no need to do an extra step************
*** I HOPE THSI HELPS ANY PROBLEMS FEEL FREE TO INBOX ME ANY QUESTIONS*** I WILL TRY MY BEST TO HELP......

stock rom: [ROM][ODIN][TAR]SPH-L900 MA7 (MA7 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Stock
Odin 3 v 1.85 (You Can Google and find it)
ok sweet so I have done this successfully. i really believe you should put this on ur first post so people dont have to do searching and can feel at ease.
1. Start ODIN 3v1.85
2. Enter Download Mode
a. Power the phone off.
b. Plug the usb cable into the computer (not the phone)
c. Hold both sides of the volume rocker down (vol up + vol down)
d. While holding those buttons down, insert the usb cable into your phone.
It may take a second or two for the screen to display with a warning. Press the Volume UP key to download a custom ROM.
3. In ODIN, click PDA and select the PDA.tar file you extracted
4. DO NOT check re-partition, Flash Lock, Phone EFS Clear, Phone bootloader update
5. CHECK Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time
6. Click Start
At the end of the process ODIN's first block will show up as YELLOW with the words PASS and your phone will reboot.
Unplug USB from your phone after first boot.
It worked for me perfectly you don't have to F.Reset
Perhaps you should try the Note 2 forums for a more informative response?
I have the same problem with my tmobile galaxy s ii, T989
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again
and whenever I start installing a stock room using Odin 1.85 it force close and the phone stays in the same page saying
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again
Please help!
Tried everything I know and still not working
I tried two computers and everytime I start odin it forces stop
The screen is still in Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again
and I guess this is the download mode because I restarted it with volume up and down and pluged the usb and it turns to this screen
I downloaded odin again to make sure it runs ok and also tried it in my wifes phone and it runs with no problem
It is one of two cases, ether the phone is completely dead or the files I am using to be installed are not the correct ones
I tried the files on this post:

Hi gals and guys, I bought a new galaxy ace s5830D (gingerbread) from Telus and decided to unlock it the following way:
1. root using Universal_GB_ROOT_v10.zip
2. installed SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse.zip on PC
3. installed Root Explorer (File Manager) v2.19.apk
4. used ADB shell on PC to read ST5L for unlock code
here is where the problem begins:
-- upon reboot phone goes in a bootloop (screen lights for a sec without Samsung logo)
-- I CANNOT put phone in recovery via home + power
--I CAN put phone in 'download' via power + home + vol dwn; or to RamDump with vol Up; or to Emergency Dload Mode by holding both up and dwn
I have tried the following:
-- flash stock telus rom S5830DTLKI4_S5830DTLSKI4_S5830DTLKI4_HOME.tar using ODIN. The flash goes successful but upon reboot goes back to bootloop? And still cannot enter 'recovery'
-- tried to flash cwm-recovery-ace.tar.md5 using ODIN. The flash is successful but on reboot goes to bootloop. Still no acess to 'recovery'
-- tried QtADB but cannot connect to phone
-- tried OneClickUnbrick but it will not recognize connection to phone either
-- tried AndroidSDK however cannot get to recognize device
So any ideas considering the main thing is I cannot get to 'recovery' and flashing with ODIN still results in bootloop.
Thanks for any advice

What ROM are you trying to flash with ODIN, because I couldn't find any on SamFirmware. Also in order to use ADB, you need the drivers, make sure you have them installed (they automatically install when you install Kies).

The stl5 method might damage the efs partition. It's a coinflip, with 3 outcomes:
-all goes well and you get an unlocked ace.
-your imei becomes 00000000000000 in which case you get aa working ace, but many carriers deny service to that imei, so no calls, no sms, no movile data.
-completely f****d up efs partition. You loose your imei. That's it, you're toast. No amount of flashing fixes this, it's not a hardbrick, but no rom will boot appropriately.
Try and flash a full package with odin. Make sure you use the correct odin version for your model and have the correct firmware. Then go into recovery and wipe everything, see if it boots. If it boots, open up your call app and dial *#06#* to see your imei (to make sure its still there).
If you have successfully flashed with odin before, and still won't boot or go into recovery, then maybe your efs partition got messed up.
Return the phone to telus, just don't tell them what you did.
thanks for the suggestions.. few more questions
-- any suggestions as to what to tell telus that is believable that happened? (phone is 3 days old and i bought it outright)
-- also re Efs partition damage, is there any way to repartition the phone and rewrite imei (isn't it on the stickers behind the battery)?
with ODIN i flashed (several times - all successfully) the stock rom made for the TELUS D version on the Ace. Its someone that build it from a stock Ace. Its available if u google it and many ppl have returned their Telus phones to stock telus\koodoo status via that rom with proprtietary carrier startup screen and all. The Model D of the Ace is not at all available on the SamFirmware site.
I also flashed only the CWM Recovery - sucessfully and still no access to 'recovery' menu.
ODIN i am using is the right version according to all i have read (4.42); and the .ops file is made, as I understand it, for partitions of the D version of the Ace. (odin + ops + rom was all one package that many ppl from telus have said to have used sucesfully to return their phones to stock.)
-- should i try to flash with odin a cyannogen mode 7.2.0; could that make a difference vs stock rom, or does the cyannogen just go on top of the stock rom; ie will not function without a proper stock rom? (i guess what i am asking is cyannogen a complete self contained os?)
--If the efs partition is damaged does it make sense then, that the ADB, oneclick unblock etc.., will not recognize the phone? Am i supposed to be able to even connect to ADB when phone is in 'download mode'? or its made to work only when phone is already booted up?
thanks guys again.. T

Hey again, changing IMEI is illegal in some countries:
Here is a link on how to change it though.
when I go to repair my phone, they normally don't ask why does this happen, they just ask what's the problem. ALso, you have to pretend you are really angry, because the phone broke just 3 days after buying it. That's all. Just be sure that the boot animation is from the stock ROM, as well as the currently installed ROM.
Good deal, had phone exchanged for a new one. That should serve as a lesson to those trying to screw with their efs/ that sometimes it may actually NOT work!!
Thanks guys Cheers!

I have this problem before and i managed to use ODIN3 v1.83 (can use Odin3 v3.07) to detect my phone and flash a stock rom onto the device. I followed the advice given on this excellent thread by Supermini.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071970
As mentioned on his thread make sure you have the latest stock firmware from the sammobile site or by using Check Fus Downloader as per the guide in Rafael thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551156, a working samsung USB driver to detect your mobile on your PC and a copy of ODIN3 v1.83 (or v1.84, v1.87, v3.07 run ODIN in administrator mode if using in windows). Ultimately if this this fails you could always try a USB jig which can be purchased from ebay, etc. to get the phone into download mode.
Good luck and if this helps make sure you send a thank you to Supermini.

So . . . last thing to rescue your phone is buy on e-bay or in other place JIG if it isn't help you then try in phone service and say you tried install new ROM with Kies and your phone is brick (maybe it'll work).
Say to Service Centre Representatives that you kept your at charging last night
And when you woke up
It was not booting up
Pretend as if you dunno anything about root or ROM
They fixed my bricked phone
I am not sure if I am breaking any forum rule by telling this
Hey bro sorry for the late reply also, please before you do anything else try following my instructions.
1) download Odin v3.07
2) source the stock firmware you want to flash from sammobile.
3) make sure you have the Samsung mobile driver.
4) open and run Odin as administrator and load the single file in the PDA and highlight the tick box.
5) shut the phone down and take out your Sim card.
6) put the mobile into download mode as normal (press both up/down vol keys +power)
7) connect the phone to the PC and check in Odin to make sure its com port is detected.
8) then flash through Odin as normal.
I understand what your saying about no download screen appearing, I have found through experience that custom kernels can cause no download screen to appear. Normally with stock kernel this is not a problem but with custom kernels sometimes all you get is a black screen. Ignore this and just make sure that Odin is detecting the phone and try to flash, chances are it will flash the stock ROM and kernel. If you get the setup connection error in Odin and the fail 0\1 just try another USB port on your PC and keep persevering.
Please keep us updated so we can help you if you need it.

Why will it be hardbricked if the custom roms are based on s5830i stock roms?
But it is probable that we did I not flash the rom properly as per procedure..so is there a chance that it be bricked? Else the rom may have some problem... just telling the probability

Hi! I installed a Custom ROM 1 year ago or so and after a few attempts to unbrick my phone I gave up. Now I want to try it again and here are the things that I've tried:
First of all, the ROM was not installed in a wrong way (I've successfully installed other ROMs with the same method - no rom manager -), but I think that the creator did not specify that the ROM was not for S5830, and that might be the brick's cause. I've tried to boot the phone, but it does not do anything at all (the battery is charged, I even tried with another battery). I've downloaded Odin (different versions, in fact), and did the following sequence (1. Connect the phone, 2. Press down power+volume down+home for 10 seconds + plug the battery without letting the buttons unpressed, 3. Run Odin as administrator) but the COM Port does NOT even recognise it...
Any ideas? Thanks!
I feel your pain . .I did something similar a while ago. .
If you flashed an incorrect rom using odin, your in deep dogy do do..
but if you flashed from recovery with cwm then with luck your Ace should be recoverable.
sometimes it requires persistance to get Ace into "download" mode.
edit: also try a different cable.
Try ODIN Multi-Downloader v4.38 for Galaxy Ace(S5830)
and official firmware from SamMobile GT-S5830
Then in odin select ops cooper v1.0.ops and select file(.tar.md5) and select all options except debug only
click start
