I'm trying to download videos and wallpapers for the HTC one. I'm getting 1920 x 1080 videos but the wallpapers are either 1920x1080 or 1080x1920..Basically, im pretty confused between 1920x1080 vs 1080x1920. If I check the properties for both, 1920x1080 shows the height to be 1080 and 1080x1920 shows the height as 1920. Which is better suited for HTC One?

Strange question possibly, but I have seen for a few other WVGA devices that there is a mod that will allow you to take widescreen videos like we can for pictures. Is there something like this for our topaz's? Is such a mod even possible? THanks in advance for any responses.
would also like to see if this is possible - 720 x 480 video would be great instead of 640 x 480

Dumb as it might be to follow up on this almost 8 months later, I figured that I'd mention that I ended up just cropping it after I convert it... The other option I had was to simply change the aspect ratio and stretch the image, but that obviously has its visual drawbacks. Thanks for the help/views!
What is the best Video format and all the info for it for Captivate? I have messed around with handbrake and a few other converters and am really not sure what the best format is.
I am thinking of ripping to MPEG4 (.mp4) but I want to get the maximum resolution for the captivate phone screen. I have read that it does 720p which is 1280 x 720 resolution if I am not mistaken? Then what bitrate? How about the audio? I know that the captivate supports 5.1 but only through headphones correct? So here is what I am thinking:
Ripping MP4 at 1280 x 720 resolution
xvid
2500 bitrate
Audio AAC 44100 at 128KB 2 channel
Will this work and is this the best resolution? I am going to be mainly ripping DVDs and converting them to watch on my phone.

So 480 x 800 but what about the other settings? Bitrate, etc?
I have read that the captivate can play 720p video, but 720p is 1280 x720 right? So does this not make a difference seeing as the screen resolution is lower?
it can play 720 hell 1080 it just gets resized to 800x480

they should be 1600 (horizontal) by 1280 (vertical) that will give you a scrolling wallpaper for several screens. If you don't want the wallpaper to scroll between screens then just use 800 (horizontal) by 1280 (vertical) for a static wallpaper that stays in place while your icons scroll over it.
It is hard to find images that are 1280 deep. I usually look for pictures that have dimensions that ends with ________ x 1400, then just crop them.
No need to write anything else hehe.
What's the resolution of the XZ wallpapers? 1920 x 1080 images aren't working out too good.

Provided you want a scrollable wallpaper, usually it's 1.5*width and 1*height. That would be... uhm... 1080+540=1620. So 1620 in width and 1920 in height.

Nea 1920 x 1080 seems to be way too big, the phone wants to crop the image before it sets the image as a wallpaper.
Can't select the whole image, or I don't know how hahaha.

Well you need to enlarge the selection box. Which you cant if the image is the exact size of the screen. Apply logic: the pic needs to be wider than 1 screen width (scrolling wallpaper), it needs to be at least 1.5*width wide.
2160x1920 fit perfect on Homescreen, 100%.

In the attachment you can see what I mean.
That image is 1920 x 1080, but I cant make a bigger selection then that.

Ok, lets make it simple: just look at your phone, what it looks like. Learn about the technical details of your device, it's got a 1080 by 1920 screen, NOT 1920x1080. Or is your Xperia wider than it is high...?
The wallpaper needs to be HIGHER than it is wide. Roughly 1600 wide and 1900 high. Yours is wider than it is high.
