Hi all,
My ex has a Samsung Galaxy S3 4G (i9305T Telstra Version) that after rebooting it last night is now stuck in a reboot loop.
You turn it on, it shows the first Samsung logo with the model, then it shows the Telstra bootup splash, then the Samsung logo, then it goes back to the Telstra splash, then Samsung logo, and so on and so on in a loop.
It is running the stock Telstra Jelly Bean firmware, NOT rooted or modded in any way. (I don't mind blasting away the warranty on my own devices but I prefer to leave warranty intact on devices that are not mine)
Now I can still get it into stock recovery mode (Power, vol up, and home), and can connect to it via ADB in that recovery mode.
I am hoping considering I can get into recovery mode there is some hope of recovering the photos and contacts before sending it away for warranty replacement. (I know most of the contacts are synced with the google account, but there are a bunch of contacts that did not sync for some reason)
I want to keep the warranty intact for sending it away, or at least leave no evidence of modification.
However I am happy to flash something to the phone as long as I can undo it for sending it away for warranty replacement.
Is there any way of getting access to the photos and contacts to copy them off seeing as I can at least get into the recovery menu, and get basic ADB access?
Thanks in advance for any help it will be muchly appreciated.
Please read the relevant faq first regarding data storage and recovery .

Ok thanks.
Looks like I was blind as a bat.
I searched the forums threads and couldn't find anything helpful, but didn't think to check the FAQ.
Looks like the answers I need are in there.
I will give it a go with the guides in the FAQ and report back if I am successful.
Try making backup via recovery mode.
Contacts are synced to google, so there's is no reason to worry about them

The FAQ's got me through.
Didn't succeed with the contacts, but got the photos which was the most important thing.
The contacts list can be reconstructed.
And to top it off after a full wipe the phone is now working again, so don't even need to bother with warranty replacement.
I also succeeded in resetting the binary counter back to 0 so if anything happens in the future it can still be returned for replacement.
I have now educated the ex on backing things up to avoid this in the future.

Ok so I know I completely missed reading the FAQ which had the answers I was after so that was bad enough.
But you win first prize in not even reading the OP and making a completely useless post as a result.
I have quoted, and made bold the relevant part of my OP.

Anyway many thanks to JJEgan for his very useful post that pointed out what I had missed, it allowed me to recover the important stuff from the phone, and the ex is very happy now.
Samsung Galaxy SIII
My SIII is stuck in a boot loop and the samsung logo is showing all the time, is there any way to transfer pictures for the SIII to my computer via Recovery mode? If there is, E-mail me [email protected]. Thanks!

Hi all experts,
Yesterday my GT started force closing ALL apps all of sudden. So I tried to reboot the GT and it was stuck at the SAMSUNG logo screen.
When it finally boot(occassionally) to home screen, icons and widgets ALL GONE back to default, apps still force close. Showed setup screens (put in sim...etc). Lookout app shows installed on Market but cannot run. Some apps previously installed showed "free" in Market seems like never installed. Popouts showing force close still.
Open Recovery it shows (see picture). Anyone please HELP!
Well your tab is screwed up lol (for a reason I dunno due to lack of details). Flashing a stock firmware should fix it right away. Charge your tab to the 100%. Go to overcome website and follow the instructions (READ THE GUIDE, then REREAD IT AGAIN) to flash a stock ROM of your choice (or you can flash our stock safe v5 as well. The choice is up to you) once you are done you will be on a pure unrooted stock rom. Feel free to stay on stock or flash w/e custom ROM you desire
I think my GT has always been on stock Rom. I z4rooted it at 2.2 after awhile had all kinds of problems. Then I updated it to gingerbread thru. Kies and it went fine for 2 weeks.
Do you know how to find out which original Rom it is supposed to be with? (I bought it second hand, unbranded international GT-P1000, when I got it it had TGY rom) Let me know what info/detail you need I will post them...
BTW, 1 out of 5/6 times I went to Recovey, it showed something like 'checksum (0)' 'no need to check' but still shows the 'cant access to system/csc/TGY/system' (see picture) When boot it still stucked at logo screen...
anyone expert can help?

Your question has been answered... We can't help people who DON'T read their responses...
Yeesh....
I did read the responses and brought TAB to local cellphone repair store with Darkpal's solution. I tried 3 of them and none of them were able to solve the problem having tried to flash different roms, and none of them were confident about finding the "original stock rom".
I was suspecting hardware issues, because this TAB I have was second handed therefore I have little idea what "stock rom" it was with, and the larger than usual gap between case and screen on SIM/sd side of the TAB suggested it had been opened.
All in all, I sent my TAB to Connexion2005 who said will JTAG my TAB. Let's wait to hear from him and I will post the result here.

I am here to report the outcome as promised. Sent the Tab to Connexion2005 for JTAG and got it back after 1 week. It has been over a month and everything works fine. I have to give Connexion2005 the credit to revive my $400 investment. THANK YOU!
Also thanks to all attempted to help in this post. Thread closed!
So I dropped my Captivate and shattered the screen a couple days ago. There is no picture on the screen at all but the phone does power on because I can here ringtones, etc. I already got my replacement phone from AT&T's insurance company (Asurion) today and I have to send this old one back. But... I want to wipe all the data off of it before sending it back, there are pics, vids, passwords, etc that I don't want the techs who refurbish this to be able to see. But since I can't see anything on the screen, that's hard to do. I do have the latest Clockwork Mod recovery. I know how to do the 3 button into recovery method, but I need to know which option to choose to wipe and how many times I have to press down to confirm the wipe, etc. I called Samsung about this and asked them, but completely forgot I'm not using their recovery, and didn't want to tell them I have a different recovery. So that was a short convo. lol Also... I do have a download jig (tested previously and successfully) so I tried doing an odin flash in download mode, but none of the Odin versions I have would show it connecting to my phone. So, what I'm asking for is help in factory resetting from Clockwork recovery "blind". Thanks!
A lot is gonna depend on what kernel/recovery you have, they all have different placement of the different options. if we knew that we might be able to mount USB storage so you can recover what you need to.
Btw just noticed your duplicate post in the general section, tis not cool to double post.
I had just put the ICSSGS RC4 rom on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362092
I have the kernel that came with that. I'm not sure which version of ClockworkMod Recovery it has. And I wasn't sure where to post this (as I'm new to this forum), hence the double post. Apologies to the mods and members.
Edit: I had a Heimdall usb driver installed on my computer, that's why none of my Odin versions would work. I uninstalled that driver and installed the stock usb driver. Got Odin v1 to load and flashed it back to stock. I was able to copy everything off the internal sd (quite excited about that) when the phone restarted. Then did a master clear with Odin.
Thanks to everyone who viewed this post, and hopefully it will help someone else that comes across this unique problem in the future.
Hi everybody
I'm really not lazy men, I check almost all posts here on the best forum in the world xda. I face this problem before 2 days, I unlock my phone with Galaxy_Ace_Unlock and root it, everything was worked perfect and suddenly it lose mobile signal. I check phone locking and it was locked again.
It wasn't main problem , then I read on this forum that this aplication is not safe and I uninstall it, after that I rebote my phone and got strange problem. I can't boot my phone I only get samsung boot screen 1 sec and it keeps restarting every sec. When I charge my phone via charger I don't see anything just screen is blanking.
More one thing, when I deleted app galaxy ace unlock I deleted from sd card root file that I use to root my phone.
I need help I try flashing it with odin 4.38 and no success, I can enter download mode, everything pass perfect and I got message PASS but phone can't boot, when it's finishing with odin on last step phone restart it self and keep blanking. This is very anoying problem, please help me if you can.
I use swisscom galaxy mini s5570 and I don't know how to solve this.
I try many different stock rooms but no success, always when I finish with odin it's successfull but I can't boot, I can't access recovery mode because phone is blinking all the time.
I know that this forum is most powerfull and tha we have the best experts, better than android developers that have, and I'm sure that you can help me in some way.
More once, I can enter download mode and flash with odin but I can' boot.
Sorry for my bad english I'm from Bosnia and my first language is Bosnian
Thanks, Reuf
If you can enter download mode, ODIN will most probably work. I think you have gone wrong while working with ODIN. Follow these instructions carefully and double check whether the correct files are selected for each category.
If you still have the problem try flashing a custom recovery and a custom ROM.
Or, the other most probable thing is some hardware error, the only thing to do then is to go to a Samsung center, and act dumb (like you do not know anything about rooting) and if you warranty is not void, they might get it right for you..

I can't go to the Samsung center because I bought phone from my friend. It was a new phone I got it in the box but he bought it in Swiss. I will try some other ROM but really I try many of them.
I think my phone is lost

But even in Swiss they have warranty agreements and receipts so if it is new you should have such purchasing receipts - otherwise your friend pulled you over the barrel.
Anyway, maybe you tried a ROM w/o boot-image to prevent from bootloops.
Maybe you should try the 2.3.5 version coming from samsung:

Morning all,
I apologise if this is in the wrong section but I am new to the forum and in a bit of pickle.
Around a week ago I rooted my lovely new note 3 to hopefully one day install some nice new ROM to get rid of the horrid touch wiz and actually see the full potential of the phones power. However, for some silly reason while I was using titanium backup on my phone I thought it would be a good idea to uninstall touch wiz thinking it would magically go back to basic android however it didn't. It is completely broken now, woops. The first issue I had was it would boot up and stick to the Samsung logo and just glow so I thought it would be an idea to install stock ROM via ODIN to try and revert it back to normal. Once I downloaded the correct stock ROM it was uploading through download mode however at the last minute it failed with a ext4 error which I think it means it's bricked? Not sure, completely new to this. I am now a bit stuck as I am not 100% sure what to do next.
The phone will only boot into either the firmware upgrade has encountered an issue, basically Odin mode or download mode. I have tried recovering it through kies however it cant connect to it. It knows it is there as it will start searching for it when it's connected however says it can't find it.
My phone is a note 3 SN SN-9005. The system status is custom, reactivation lock is off, Knox kernel lock 0x0, Knox warranty void 0x1 and write protection is enabled.
Obviously I would like to get the phone back to normal, I don't care if it has to be completely wiped and brought back to normal I would like it to just work. I've been an complete idiot and fiddled with something I'm not 100% sure on and I would like to not have a 600 quid paper weight hehe.
I will greatly appreciate any help or feedback.
You won't get the best feedback for a 9005 model here. We are the 900A version stuck on AT&T. Yes, however, we have plenty of intelligent people here. It's best to post your question here in the main Samsung Galaxy Note 3 thread next time:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/help
Next, since you've voided your warranty as Knox being 0x1 - you're pretty much screwed for a refund or replacement based on PRESENT development from what I have read all over the AT&T threads. Understand this. Now, that being said, did you install a custom recovery or have your original recovery?
Here's my input/help. Forget about ODIN. You don't need that if all you did was remove your touch wiz.
Take out your battery, put it back in and hold VOLUME UP, POWER, and HOME together until you reach a recovery. Then if it's the stock recovery, wipe your cache partition, then wipe data/factory reset. Then reboot and you're good back to starting over. Check with a rooting application to see if you still have or not. If not, then obviously reroot
Also, don't ever do anything like that again without thinking what it could do, lol . Always tread carefully whenever you are new to something. Just my two cents for you. If you came here to root and learn it, don't be afraid to ask questions about applications and expanding your knowledge. No one will ignore you if you ask a simple question in the right manner/thread.
Good luck!
Thank you for the feedback. I have defiantly learnt from my mistake with this one. I have usually been lucky diving into things blindly hehe. I have tried to put it into recovery mode however it just vibrates like it should and then comes back up to firmware upgrade issue with the two computer screens an a attention sign in the middle. Is there anyway to get recovery mode back.

Wish you had come here when you deleted touchwiz only instead of playing with Odin. Looks like you messed it up even further and have to now use Odin to reinstall your firmware. I'm about to go to sleep, but do this.
1) Take out battery and put it back in. Then press and hold VOLUME DOWN + HOME + POWER at the same time until you reach DOWNLOAD MODE.
2) Follow the steps here and use your odin or latest odin (shouldn't matter):

Oh, and google is your friend. It's how I learned things over the years...READING, then tinkering....you're welcome .
I wish I did as well. I will try this when I get back from uni this evening and post back results.
Thank you again.

You have the 9005 right? I think you have the wrong file to odin. What is the exact model number of your phone and where are you located in the world? (reason I ask is there are different regions to choose from)

Hi, I am using same SSN. Can you please confirm the working rom download URL? Appreciate your help.
Thank you.
Hey everyone,
I have an HTC One M7 running stock firmware which has randomly become stuck in a bootloop. There are some very important sms messages which need to be retrieved.
After talking to an HTC rep over the phone, the advice given was to deplete the battery completely then rebooting. However this has not helped as it still loops during boot.
I do not mind voiding the warranty as long as the messages can be recovered.
Any advice as to what the next best option is to bring it back to life?
Thanks,
xShay
Stock recovery doesn't give you the option to access the system, if you knew where to look for messages. Sorry no option to retrieve the sms.
