[Q] HTC One stuck in bootloop - need to recover sms - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone,
I have an HTC One M7 running stock firmware which has randomly become stuck in a bootloop. There are some very important sms messages which need to be retrieved.
After talking to an HTC rep over the phone, the advice given was to deplete the battery completely then rebooting. However this has not helped as it still loops during boot.
I do not mind voiding the warranty as long as the messages can be recovered.
Any advice as to what the next best option is to bring it back to life?
Thanks,
xShay

Stock recovery doesn't give you the option to access the system, if you knew where to look for messages. Sorry no option to retrieve the sms.

[Q] Incoming Calls

I'm new to sgs and android,so hopefully this is a noob problem and easily fixed and not something more complex.I've searched and read alot of posts and not found another problem similar,so maybe someone can help.
Got the phone recently and flashed Darkys v7.0 and very impressed by the rom.
Basically my incoming calls dont show up,when an incoming call happens,i get a vibrate and some sort of notification flashes on the screen for an instant then disappears, then my network signal drops out.
I've tried another sim and different service provider, same problem which indicates some issue with phone, have triple checked all my settings in call settings, answering is enabled.
I can make calls, sent and recieve sms messages and connect to net/mail via my 3g,so cant figure out whats going on.Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Gav
Hi!
Unfortunately, same thing here with me. First, I flashed 7,5 and the problem appeared. This mornig I put new rom 7.6 but still problem remains. Everything works, but incoming calls dont. Im trying to capture message that flashes quickly, but with no sucess...
SOLVED!!!
Factory reset did the thing. Calls are incoming as they should. (setings->privacy->factory reset)
Hope it will work for you.
Greetings from Croatia
Hey i have tried this and have possibly bricked my phone as all im getting is the Galaxy power up screen and nothing else, tried to get into recovery and nothing,ah well my android fun maybe over, might just get an iphone, seems a bit simpler for a knuckledragger like me
I really doubt that factory reset coud brick phone. Try to boot in recovery/download mode with 3button combination (hope you have it) and flash new ROM.

try to flash speedmod recovery on your phone, do the most recent stable version, once you get into recovery you can see if it truly is bricked, if you get the common SD error then it is bricked but if it's complaining about some data missing your still in luck.
check out what to do here....i posted about this a while back also if you want to look at my past posts.....

I had exactly the same problem; installed Darkys 7.5 after which I couldn't receive any calls anymore, did a factory reset and got bricked. 3button to recovery didn't work on my phone, but luckily I live close to a Samsung service center where they reflashed my phone.
I am curious what was causing this. If it is solved I would like to try the rom again, cause it looked great.

Now i never had the 3 way download button working or checked,i pretty much did CWM and flashed darkys right after buying the phone.
When i try to get into CWM all i get is the Samsung Galaxy S gt i9000 start up screen and nothing.
Thanks for your help
I have the same problem excecpt I flashed "leap in the dark". Will factory reset erase all my data? If so are there any other options
Its really pissing me off.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
i now decided to flash darkys 7.7

[Q] Stuck on logo screen suddenly. Ideas?

Hi,
Last night my Galaxy S was low on battery, and I kept trying to turn it on for it to die right away (it was working as expected I guess)
This morning after I charged my phone it wouldn't turn on at all! It loads to the logo screen, makes that jingle sound and then holds and doesn't turn on.
I can get to recovery and download mode.
I put OCLF on like 2 months ago, but haven't modded/flashed ANYTHING since. It is very bizarre how it just died.
I'm wondering what my options are now. Obviously I would rather not loose all my personal files. Since I can get into download mode, can I just flash a new firmware? I'd like FroYo anyway, but I haven't got a clue what to do.
Great start to the year – !
Cheers,
Mitch
EDIT: I just decided to try the "Clear User Cache" option and then reboot to no avail. Now I can't get back into recovery mode!?!? Download mode still works. Huhh?? Is this expected? Have I lose Recovery Mode entirely now? Crap.
seeeems like an odin flash via the download mode is the only way. There are a few tutorials on this site and even tut vids on youtube so you should be fine if you just follow everything they do (as long as it works for them of course)
How do I know what version to flash? I have read a few tutorials and they all have started with "Dial x and check you have y" etc. Obviously I can't do any of that.
What is the *safest* firmware I can flash?
My phone currently has some optus variety.
Please forgive the noodish question.
Mitch
Where are you located? And who is your provider?
Hi,
I'm in Sydney Australia and my provider is Optus.
Thanks
Hi,
I still can't get my phone working and am not clear how to proceed.
What would be the best firmware to flash to my Optus Galaxy S that bricked out of the blue? Should I just send it back to Samsung?
Thank You

Hey mate go to samfirmware and get I9000DTJG4 thats the stock optus rom once you get phone up and running then upgrade to 2.2.1.
Sounds like you'll need to do a flash of a stock rom..
By the way, the old oclf had some issues that might lead to system corruption (unfortunately I'm not very sure exactly what it does, or whether it could lead to this problem). I'd suggest getting one of the newer lag fixes available here when you do get your phone running again

tragusman has got it right. Depending on what the issue is, you'll either recover nicely or your phone is toast. Flash the above stock firmware and give it a shot. Note that you'll likely loose your data and settings.
If you're new to flashing firmwares, check the great reference guide on where to find Odin and how to use it (this is the app you'll use to flash the above firmware).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
After flashing, try getting into recovery mode. If you can look for an error message under the standard menu. Can't get to d/l mode? You're probably in trouble. Get into recovery and see an error msg? Post the error here or google it for a solution. No error msg? You're probably ok - restart the phone.
Good luck.
Thanks guys.
I'm about to try it now, but before I start potentially breaking my phone even more, I was just thinking: Could I just send it back to Samsung? Would they fix it, or identify right away I have changed something and void my warranty.

If it's broke, you can't break it any more I've sent phones back in for support after flashing back stock firmware (flashing it after it "died").

[Q] S3 4G in boot loop, possible to recover photos?

Hi all,
My ex has a Samsung Galaxy S3 4G (i9305T Telstra Version) that after rebooting it last night is now stuck in a reboot loop.
You turn it on, it shows the first Samsung logo with the model, then it shows the Telstra bootup splash, then the Samsung logo, then it goes back to the Telstra splash, then Samsung logo, and so on and so on in a loop.
It is running the stock Telstra Jelly Bean firmware, NOT rooted or modded in any way. (I don't mind blasting away the warranty on my own devices but I prefer to leave warranty intact on devices that are not mine)
Now I can still get it into stock recovery mode (Power, vol up, and home), and can connect to it via ADB in that recovery mode.
I am hoping considering I can get into recovery mode there is some hope of recovering the photos and contacts before sending it away for warranty replacement. (I know most of the contacts are synced with the google account, but there are a bunch of contacts that did not sync for some reason)
I want to keep the warranty intact for sending it away, or at least leave no evidence of modification.
However I am happy to flash something to the phone as long as I can undo it for sending it away for warranty replacement.
Is there any way of getting access to the photos and contacts to copy them off seeing as I can at least get into the recovery menu, and get basic ADB access?
Thanks in advance for any help it will be muchly appreciated.
Please read the relevant faq first regarding data storage and recovery .

Ok thanks.
Looks like I was blind as a bat.
I searched the forums threads and couldn't find anything helpful, but didn't think to check the FAQ.
Looks like the answers I need are in there.
I will give it a go with the guides in the FAQ and report back if I am successful.
Try making backup via recovery mode.
Contacts are synced to google, so there's is no reason to worry about them

The FAQ's got me through.
Didn't succeed with the contacts, but got the photos which was the most important thing.
The contacts list can be reconstructed.
And to top it off after a full wipe the phone is now working again, so don't even need to bother with warranty replacement.
I also succeeded in resetting the binary counter back to 0 so if anything happens in the future it can still be returned for replacement.
I have now educated the ex on backing things up to avoid this in the future.

Ok so I know I completely missed reading the FAQ which had the answers I was after so that was bad enough.
But you win first prize in not even reading the OP and making a completely useless post as a result.
I have quoted, and made bold the relevant part of my OP.

Anyway many thanks to JJEgan for his very useful post that pointed out what I had missed, it allowed me to recover the important stuff from the phone, and the ex is very happy now.
Samsung Galaxy SIII
My SIII is stuck in a boot loop and the samsung logo is showing all the time, is there any way to transfer pictures for the SIII to my computer via Recovery mode? If there is, E-mail me [email protected]. Thanks!

Botched Flash

I flashed my 510 yesterday and, no problem up until I make a phone call. I realized that it wasn't connecting. I can't get a signal for nothin, it's like all identifying information, carrier, etc. was wiped from the phone. Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

Did you check your IMEI# and see what is says??? If its all 000000000 then I believe, sadly, (like Samsung phones I have had and had similar issues periodically thru flashing stuff) that you are going to have to go back to the very beginning and start all over. As in unroot, relock, stock etc etc.
I am assuming you dont have a twrp backup and if you do, then restore your backup and see whats what. You may be ok after that, but not likely.
There are guides around here to get back to out of the box status. Start searching friend.

HTC Desire 626 Bricked, need help.

Hi there eveyone, thank you for reading this.
a friend of mine has an HTC Desire OPM1100 D626ph (says on the back of the phone)
when he tries to update to the newer version (the official way) He faces an error, the phone restarts and its stuck now on an endless loop. the options he had was htc recovery menu. he has tried all the options there in hope of fixing the problem.(he doesn't know english) and he probably ruined everything. now the phone doesn't have a back up, nothing works. ADB wasn't turned on in the begining. no fast boot. the only options i think i have is to download a rom via sdcard.(not even sure if it's external)
these are the options on the menu:
reboot system now:
apply update from adb
apply update from sdcard
apply update from cache
wipe /data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup user data
restore user data
any help on this would be appreciated, any ideas what should be my next step? i have history of using fastboot/adb. i don't know which rom i should download and from where? htc website confused me and the onlyy thread i found on the internet was this one and there are several links on there. not sure which one should i use?
thanks again guys.
Which carrier is he on? Also, we would need to know if it's a 626, 626s, 626x, 626g, etc... Not sure which model it is from the info posted above. If it's a 626s, the only way to recover is if it's a T-Mobile 626s (no other versions have an RUU to restore it to stock).

thank you for your response
it's an HTC Desire 626G+ (dual sim) and the carrier is "Telecommunication Company of Iran"
Hmm - I would have him contact his carrier and see if they have an "RUU" available for that phone. An "RUU" is Windows application that will reset the phone back to the way it came from the factory - and can typically restore any phone - unless it has a hardware issue.
Otherwise, let's see if anyone else has any input (I'm not familiar with the 626g myself).
Sorry that I couldn't be more helpful!

i don't think the carrier would help out with this. though it made me think he didn't do anything wrong so do you think that warranty will accept the phone?
The carrier are the ones that need to supply the RUU (either directly or via HTC), which I why I mentioned that he should contact the carrier.
I would agree that it's a warranty issue if he we just trying to install an OTA update and it caused all of this...

i have same problem with D626ph. I was rooted phone with kingroot after this try to update with ota and result was error and phone boot only to recovery menu
Ahhh - yeah, if you are rooted (and unlocked bootloader), you cannot apply OTA updates. Although, usually, they fail right away and you can just boot right back into the phone normally (without the update, obviously). It's kinda strange that the OTA is bricking the phone like that.

Your link requires an decryption key.
pl provide key. facing the same problem with htc 626g+. Updated via official OTA. Sad that they rolled it without thoroughly testing it.
Have you guys contacted HTC and/or the carrier? They should resolve this issue for you (via an RUU or some other means)!

Guys thank you for your replies. I'm kinda new to xda forum. Should i reply one by one and quote people's names or just reply in one comment? Are there any rules?
About the post, it's weird that many people are experiencing the same problem! And where i live phone carriers don't care about phone problems and it's the first time I'm hearing that i should contact my carrier for my bricked device. But things are differently in different countries ?? to @tpr0 i might try your solution when i get my hands on the device againand if no one provides a better suggestion. Because i gave it back to my friend and told him to try the warranty. After a day turned out he has bought the device without a warranty! They sell phones without warranty in iran for a cheaper price. I think it's worth paying 50 more dollars for a 1-2 years warranty. Anyway I'll let you guys know as soon my friend returns his phone (which will be pretty soon I'm guessing. Meanwhile ill wait if anyone has a link for the ROM or a solution.
try this:

can u tell me the procedure for working with this file ??
