Got my Note 3 Yesterday and I noticed that when I plug it up to any of the USB 3.0 Ports on my PC which has Asus Sabertooth 990fx R1 board and Windows 8 it will charge but is not recognized and doesn't show up in drives folder but the phone shows the charging symbol at the top indicating it's charging. I have Kies 3 installed isn't that supposed to put the correct drivers in when you install it? I don't see any other drivers to install yet. Unless something is wrong with the Phone because my pc detects my usb 3.0 flash drive when it's plug up?
Dude I have exact same problem and I have that exact same motherboad. I haven't tried to figure it out but I believe you gotta get the 3.0 drivers from samsung.com
EDIT:
Yes I figured it out! And the fix is specifically for our motherboard/software installed. Open the AI Suite and disable Ai Charger +. Reconnect your phone with a 3.0 port and it works fine!

Did you disable the BC 1.1 function? Also I'm assuming your PC supports 3.0?

Anyone know how to sync with Windows 7???
I've tried to install Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1, but it don't recognize my phone.. And ActiveSync won't even be installed due to compability reasons. (Doh, it's Win7)
I really like Win7, so it would be great to sync the phone
Try another cable or something, the mobile center should work.

But the mobile is charging =/ So i don't think something is wrong with the cable and it worked just fine in XP (ActiveSync). And when I connected the mobile first time, the PC recognized it and installed the drivers for the mobile and the ActiveSync started on the mobile. Should it start on the phone when mobile center is running on the PC?
So does that mean you didn't try anothe cable? Because if you had researched this sort of thing (aka searched) you would find that the cables do this quite often.

i don't know what is the issue for you as i have win7rc1 and i can sync fine using the mobile device center.
If you are using 64bit Windows 7 then you need to download the updated drivers for the HTC. I am not sure exactly where Microsoft has these located, but it automatically downloaded and installed the new USB drivers that it needed just the other day for me......
Works excellent. I was using the 32 Bit version of Windows 7 before this and even though its based under Vista couldn't get it to synch up.
I have Win7 64 bit...with internet already established through another source, when I plugged in my tilt, it found the driver and installed it and has worked flawlessly ever since.
Works fine for me too on Win7 x64.
First, try another cable. USB has 4 connections, only 2 are needed to make it charge, but for communication it needs all 4. Maybe try another USB port on your PC as well.
And as said before, make sure you have an internet connection so it can download the drivers.
WMDC is already built in with Win7, so don't install any other versions from Microsoft Download Center.
Works fine for Win7 x64.
but Win7 x86 "NO"
you can use virtual XP mode for 32bit version
Updates?
Hi. I had this same problem following a hard-reset of my phone. After a while of searching I found that an update (designed for Vista) is available on the microsoft website. Downloaded, installed and sync worked first time. Yey
It should work with Win 7 RC 32 bit - does for me!

Then you're doing something wrong (such as not having the TyTN II correctly connected to your desktop PC or not having internet access on it to download whats required perhaps). I plugged my TyTN II into my Win 7 RC (32 bit) PC and after a bit of hardware detection and some automatic downloading it works (allbeit still with slow file tranfers but at least the UI is better than Win XPs Activesync). Welcome to xda-dev by the way
I think that it matters wether or not it's Windows7 RC.. Right after it came out someone was using the beta and it wouldn't work for them.

I was wondering the same but as the RC version is still avail for free until 20 Aug, anyone with the Beta should be formatting and installing this instead. Grab it while you can
I am running RC 7100 and I have no problem syncing.
Only issue I have now is, when the phone is connected, it won't let me delete or replace any .xml files through file explorer. This was never an issue with XP and Active Sync.
i just found what the problem is. Open settings on phone, then connection tab, open usb to pc... and there uncheck (enable advanced network function)

I had that problem when I first bought my TyTN II but it was because I was attempting to connect it to my ancient USB 1.1 ports on my Pentium III. As soon as I installed a modern (but cheap) NEC chipset USB 2.0 PCI adapter card, I found I could connect fine either with or without advanced network functionality enabled. This is a USB port hardware compatibility issue rather than a Win 7 issue and I suspect even if users have Win XP on the machine that behaves this way, they'd still get the exact same response.
your speaking about USB 1 when others is speaking about Win7. If you dont know win 7 is the newest MS OS. So, i belive, all who use win7 have USB2. So there is question why you mention usb1?
And i didnt sad whole story. I had used phone with win xp for long time with that check on, and with one cabler... now on win7 i tried 2 diferent cables with that check on. Didnt work. Took it off and it started to work. So its Win7 issue.

Thanks for the explanation but my Pentium III is capable of running (or should that be walking) Win 7 RC and it has USB 1.1 ports (as well as a USB 2.0 card now). Given Win 7 RC was avail free of charge - don't know if it still is, I got mine in June, there'll be people who get it just to see what it looks like, even though the hardware isn't up to ideal spec.
I don't know what ports were being used in your case because as you mentioned, full details weren't supplied and we didn't have the whole story - we still don't know. Glad you've resolved the issue in your case but in a modern PC which can comfortably run Windows 7, I wouldn't typically expect this to be an issue. If the hardware is struggling to keep up or has USB ports of dubious quality/performance, then thats a different matter.
Sounds like win7 (my main OS now days) communicates with the USB ports in a different manner than XP or the other OS's. Good to know.
Hey can someone help me connect my htc diamond to windows 7...

Hey, I had the same problem. The drivers that come with the phone are x86, not x64, so you need to go to:
<br>microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=6eb8d0aa-bc6b-4864-8ffe-dc26e1d9f843&displaylang=en
It's the 64 bit version of Windows Mobile Device Centre. The drivers don't come from HTC, they come from Microsoft.
The Diamond should connect without installing anything. W7 downloads drivers automatically. I'm using W7 Ultimate 32 and 64 bit versions and have no problem connecting my PDAs (W7 RC and RTM) through USB or BT.
same prob.em...but resolved
in win 7 32: just restart the device(htc) until will be recognized.maybe 1-2 soft reset.hope u have succes.

Hi go to start/seting/connection/usb to pc/ uncheck the box and reconnect your device,,
I tried to do a search for this, and nothing came up for me. I recently purchased a new Laptop, running Windows 7 64 bit. My Nexus One will not install any of the drivers on such. I have downloaded the drivers from the Android Development, yet I am unable to actually use my Nexus One for ADB or for even Disk Mode. It keeps stating it is unable to install the drivers. I haven't ever tried to use my N1 with any 64 bit OS before this (except linux and mac, but that just seems to work) and my 32 bit OS's seem to work perfectly fine. Anyone else having this issue? Or possible solution?
I had the same problem when i went to root mine. I tried every tweak and hack and fix an update nothing worked.. but send someone at android community.com had it..
If you can wait a few hours i will post it when i get home..
Please don't even think of putting windows mobile on your nexus one. That is against Android law!

Keep trying and make sure you install the correct drivers. Try from another download source and don't let windows install the defaults.

Same with me. USB Debug mode fixed it.
Im on Windows 7 x64 Pro. I havent had any problems getting ADB to work with my machine. I downloaded the SDK from the website and ran the sdk setup.exe. It will fail the first time, you have to close it and go to settings and FORCE HTTPS. once that is done. reopen it and reject everything except Device Drivers. This will download the drivers. When I connect my phone with debug mode on windows auto picks up the drivers and installs it.
I got it running on my machine ..windows64bit .. took a lil while but like someone said but it can be done ..or if all else fails install droid explorer ..and use its sdk directory
I had the same problem. In my case it was because I was plugging it into a usb port that was built into a card reader in my tower. As it turned out the usb port was not putting out enough power, so I decided to try some ports that are on the bottom of my case and the problem went away.
Each usb hub has to share power, so if you have several usb devices that pull some juice workin on the same hub you can try to get onto another hub via another port.
Win7 64 bit
I had the same problem. For me the solution was to use a legacy/older USB port on my laptop and not a highspeed one.
i am having this issue as well.
i have looked everywhere, and tried many solutions. i am lost.
my windows 7 32bit laptop sees the N1 is connected but cannot install or even find any drivers for it. i have USB debugging mode checked. i have tried ADK, using the USB drivers it provides, no luck there.
my N1 isn't rooted yet, and i'd like to trick it out. but i have to get access to it first. any help y'all can provide would be amazing.
it may be possible this is a windows 7 issue, with drivers and such. but i've been looking around for a while and can't find a solution anywhere.
When I plug my N3 into a USB 3.0 port on my Windows 7 PC (using the cable that came with the phone), it works fine until I select the phone option to use USB 3.0 mode. At that point, my PC stops recognizing the phone (it disappears from Windows Explorer). Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know of a solution?
I had this happen to me earlier- I had to plug it into a different USB port while it was still in USB 3.0 mode. For some reason, sometimes when I switch it, it fails to enumerate the device ID. If you quickly plug it into a different USB 3.0 port, it will work. At least for me. YMMV!

Thanks, but that doesn't work for me.
Here's what happens, in more detail. I plug the phone into a front-panel USB 3.0 port. My PC's Windows Explorer then shows the phone as a Portable Media Player, and the phone says "Connected as a media device. Tap for UDB 3.0 and other options". I tap and then set the checkbox for "Media device (USB 3.0), selecting "Use USB 3.0". At that point, the phone immediately vanishes from Windows Explorer, and the USB "Connected as Media Device" notification also vanishes.
In contrast, when I plug the phone into a rear-panel USB 3.0 port, it never connects at all. It does vibrate briefly to show it knows it was plugged in. But neither the PC nor the phone itself gives any other indication of the connection.
Update: I found a different (Intel) rear USB 3.0 port that works. Apparently it's just finicky about what port to connect to. (All drivers on my PC are up-to-date, though.) I haven't tried any file transfers yet, but the phone notification says "Connected as USB 3.0 Media Device", and the PC Windows Explorer shows the phone and can list its files.

This is what happened to me when I plugged in to my front 3.0 port the phone would have the charging icon at the top but would not show connected to USB 3.0 port not pull down menu just showed charging if I put into 2.0 ports USB notification pops right up. So I thought my phone was bad and exchanged it and the same thing happened. So I then turned to the PC I went to my laptop which is a Dell with Intel chipset and i7 plug it in and it was recognized right away pull down menu and 3.0 option showed. So off to the store I went while I was there talked to one of the techs and he told me that ASMedia 3.0 controller on the boards where having problems Intel and AMD now I was on track as I have a AMD Sabertooth 990fx board so I did two thing I picked up a M5A99fx Pro 2.0 and a I/O PCI Express 3.0 card one I got had a different controller than AsMedia on it and got lucky and found one that also had a 20 pin port on the card so I could plug my front port cord to the card and it would give me access to the front ports on my tower. I installed the new mother board and the same thing happened then I put the PCI Express card in and hooked my 20 pin cord up and now I have usb 3.0 on the front but the board's ports still won't work with the phone also I tested other flash drives and USB 3.0 drives and it seems that what the tech said is true with my setup AsMedia is have problems with their controller! The PCI Express card is the Vantec one UGT-PC345 and it has then Renesas USB 3.0 Controller on it. I have since went back to my Sabertooth board and returned the M5A99fx my board is just fine just had to ad the card to get 3.0.
Well in my case the third option just doesn't exist its not grayed out its just not they're so I wonder if its a att deal can some one let me know
I dont know if its related but the issue i have is that when i tap the usb 3.0 option, my phone connects and disconnects over and over about 5 times at whic point it goes back to MTP.
Also, i forgot to add... when it stops all the connecting and disconnecting, i get the message that no software was found. I installed Kies, but its the same thing. This is windows 8.

Only what I mentioned in the update above--it worked to use a different USB 3.0 port on the same PC. The port that didn't work has a different controller, so there may be a driver problem. But I stopped investigating as soon as I found a port that worked.

How about a little more info on what your system is. Especially motherboard manufacturer. It seems what ive found in my searching is that most people who are having this issue share one major thing in common and thats the the board manufacturer is ASUS. Im not saying all of them, but most. With that being said im also willing to bet that most problems are on the same USB chip manufacturer. Asmedia chips seem to have the issue. I have 3 towers all with different ASUS boards but all have Asmedia controllers and they all have the same problem. However, if i plug it into my wifes laptop with an intel USB 3 controller, it works perfect.
I have done firmware upgrades, changed BIOS settings, even a reinstall on all 3 systems of the whole OS and in the end i got the same result. The only thing ive been able to get work is if i install ASUS' USB Boost software, my phone will now show its working on 3.0 but only from the rear ports. That being said, if i let it sit at idle for more than about 15-20 minutes, it automatically goes back to USB 2. I dont know if thats intended or if im still having issues.
So, any extra info you can supply might help get a better response. OS, MB manufacturer, controller manufacturer, all of those things will help.
I'm almost 100% certain that BC 1.1 is enabled on your computer. It's extremely common with ASUS boards. It is on other boards as well. Find out how you can disable it from the manufacturer and it will work.

Thank you. This is the issue I had. I have an Asus motherboard, and I did have Ai Charger+ enabled, that supposedly charges BC 1.1 devices 3x faster.
So for anyone who has AI Suite installed, open it up from the system tray, go to Tool, then Ai Charger+, and make sure it's disabled.
I just re-tried the USB 3.0 port on my PC that previously didn't connect to my N3 in USB 3.0 mode, and it now does. I don't know when or how it got fixed. The hardware is still the same and I haven't manually changed anything on my PC or N3 that would be relevant, so either the PC or the N3 must have received some intervening update that repaired the problem.

An incompatible update for the Texas Instruments XHCI controller was delivered through Microsoft Windows Update. If your computer received this update, use the following steps to roll the controller driver back to the previous version:
Click Start , enter device manager into the search field, and click Device Manager from the results.
In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers to expand the list.
Right-click Texas Instruments XHCI Controller and select Properties . If Texas Instruments XHCI Controller is not listed, then this step will not fix the problem. Find and use another section on this page.

Thanks, but as just mentioned, my problem already fixed itself. Also, my PC doesn't have the TI XHCI controller. Also, the warning you quote is from more than a year ago, so it is very unlikely to still be applicable.
I would buy this in a heartbeat if someone could confirm and show me how to use it as a second screen on my Windows laptop
Thanks In Advance,
matt
You would go into the drop-down settings and toggle second screen to on. Then on the Windows laptop press the windows key + K. It will show wireless displays, select your galaxy tab. Checkmark the button to allow external inputs. You have a choice to extend the display, duplicate or have second screen only.
Windows Key + K works on my custom-built Win 11 desktop and my MSI laptop. It's not specific to Samsung-branded laptops.
Works great on Dell Inspiron 2-in-1
It doesn't work with my Ryzen 5 3550 APU.
Works great on Eluktronics 17.3 Win10 laptop.

That's the only reason I can guess. My wireless card is Intel AX200, driver updated to latest. I had tried Tab S7+, S7 FE, and S8U, no one works. In the laptop window, it's showing connected but my tablet's showing black screen. Couldn't find answer any where. Thinking about using a third-party app: SuperDisplay.
I fullheartedly recommend the app SuperDisplay. I tried second screen, but did not like the lag. I prefer a wired solution, so I installed SuperScreen on the tab and the corresponding Windows App on my laptop. Now when I plug in a USB C to USB C cable (that is capable of carrying the display signal), the tablet instantly switches the mode to be an additional screen for the laptop and windows also instantly picks it up and also remembers the last configuration. Touch and pen input also work beautifully.

I am using the app called SuperDisplay. Personally, it is better almost all aspects like support for 120Hz refresh rate, auto initialization when connected with USB. Try for yourself.
Is there cable usc c to hdmi for galaxy s8 ultra? I have a mini pc (6 core 12 threat, 16giga ram), which i have win10, win11, Linux mint with a grub bootloader.
I want to use tab s8 ultra as monitor.
I can use it as second monitor with the apps of this thread but i cant select os to boot. Also can't use Linux. Is there any app in Linux for 2nd monitor through usb?
If anyone have any kind for a cable usb c to hdmi which will work, post it.
Thanks,
