Do I just download the Z7 .tot file to the SD and flash as a normal rom?

Start over from zv7 and read MT's easiest way to maintain root to zv8 inn the Dev section

Not sure which version it is V9? But I have been delaying it and delaying it for a few weeks and its starting to bug me. Is there a way to keep root through this yet? same as MT had for V8 using the verizon manual .tot program?
Check this thread. I have been avoiding the update as well, but it seems to have gotten more "insistent" of late.
I am downgrading using LNGPST, updating and then I plan to use this technique for root. Don't think you will end up with CWM, but I am not certain that I fully enjoy the value of CWM. Maybe I am just too new.

Hey guys, my phone keeps downloading that stupid update and then failing to install it, whats the proper way to get around this either to block it or to upgrade and keep root?
thanks!
To stop the update freeze the software updater. It may break blue tooth.
And everything for v8 works for v9. All aio's

So I need to...
1. install stock rom
2. Unroot
3. Do the verizon OTA to Z9
4. Reroot
5. CWM?
You can go this route.

After I used the tot I did a factory reset and then went to using the Easy Aio for v8 v9.

If you have cwm installed the ota will fail everytime. easiest method is to flash the v9 tot, then root, then cwm, then flash BO2.0. the issues come when ppl try to install cwm, ie install not taking. if that occurs, let me know and I can direct you on how to install cwm from the phone using terminal emulator.
the stock rom is not as efficient as BO. Plus no OC'ing and not as much tweaking. Most tweaks won't work OOB. Our stock rom doesn't have boot script support (init.d support) all scripts will need to be manually run at boot. battery life is different and tons of bloatware.

kk. My question was in order to flash the v9 tot do I need to unroot and install the stock v8 rom first? Or can the v9 tot be installed while rooted and using MT's ROM?
Yes. You can flash a tot over anything.
You will lose root and cwm.

Hi guys,
I have jut received notification of an available update to my phone, and I have taken a nandroid backup and attempted to update. This failed and left me in recovery (CWM). I then tried manually updating using the .zip file from the download folder, but this left me stuck too.
How can I apply this update?
Thanks
Did you remove any of the stock apks? What customizations have you done? Typically the ROM needs to be completely stock before applying an OTA update.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I'm pretty sure my rom is stock. Apart from rooting and apply changes to the framework.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
You'll need to be unrooted, stock, and with stock recovery for the OTA to take effect.
If you need stock ROMS and recovery, they are available in the development forums.

Did you root regular HTC One or the China edition HTC One (802w)? I am in the same situation as you if you are using the 802w. Have you tried resetting to factory default, update it, THEN do the unlock/root?
You should follow Mikes thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265618 it explains how to unroot etc. and after that you should be able to update your rom again.
I am looking for a TWRP flashable zip of the latest OTA.
I dont really want to RSD back to accept the OTA. I am running Eclipse 3.2.1 now.
Kind of a pain to safe all my data off, revert back then restore
Thanks,
I'd love to have this available to the community as well!

Keep in mind the OTA has a manifest file of "check sums" of files it looks for on your phone. If they are not there, or the ones there don't match the check sum, the OTA will fail. So if Eclipse 3.2.1 is a custom rom, the OTA will most certainly fail.
The way OTA (inside the zip) is written, it wont install from TWRP either. You'd have to open it up, and try to modify it, to make it installable via TWRP or CWM.

Thanks for the thread man. I'm a G2 newbie, but familiar with root, recovery & roms. I just got my G2 yesterday. I have it rooted, still on 12b, was going to use freegee but saw the brick thread. I need advice on what to do next. Goal= reliable custom recovery with Loki(which I'm new to), and a couple fast roms with mods & bacon. Thanks in advance for your time.

If you want to get to a good recovery flash back to 11a using the flash tool after u have the proper drivers and programs installed...unfortunately I'm on mobile ATM kinda busy but I will be more then happy to assist you ...oh..make sure you use philz cwm...its the best...extract philz zip somewhere and flash the recovery.IMG using flashify and keep me updated

I'll try asking you before starting my own thread.
With all this talk about needing the 12b base / bootstack when wanting to use the new KK roms, I have a question.
Here's the short version which maybe has enough info to answer: I'm not sure the last official OTA I took, but I know right now I am just on a debloated official 12b LG ROM that somebody put up late last year. If I'm on a stock LG 12b ROM, simply debloated, do I have the right "bootstack" and all that to just wipe and try the KK ROMs without tot'ing all the way back to 10b and taking the OTAs again? I'm not sure that I ever took 12b over the air, but if I'm on a 12b rom, did that update the bootstack and everything?
Longer version, extra details: looking through my old files I have a 10b tot file so I know I went all the way back to that at one point. I would assume right after doing that I would have accepted the 11a OTA, as my files show I downloaded the tot file in Nov 2013 and 11a was released the month before. I had bought my phone on eBay so I'm pretty sure I was just being safe by fully restoring it with the flash tool, probably flashed 10b and accepted 11a once I turned the phone on. And then proceeded to root and rom or whatever else. But I CAN'T say for certain that I ever took any OTAs. I may have restored to 10b and just immediately switched over to debloated stock "CleanROM" that was available at the time. But as of today I am on a stock LG debloated 12b rom. Would that have updated my bootstack and everything anyway, just the fact that I flashed a 12b stock rom? Or does it absolutely have to be that you took the update over the air?

Is there any way to flash it without flashify? I'm adb rooted, and trying to use loki from this thread, but it keeps telling me that it's not a loki image. When I use the dd method, the phone won't boot into recovery and I get a ton of drives that need to be formatted.
On the vs980 running 11A

Seeing that you're on the 12b baseband. Whether you flashed a ROM or a new radio, doesn't tell you what base your aboot image is. The only way that I know of to tell is if you made a backup of your stock ROM before you started flashing.
Only thing I can suggest is using the lg flash tool to go back to 11a then upgrading to 12b via the ota, then reroot/reinstall your recovery

You shouldn't have an issue flashing back to any stock kdz's or tot files period from anything you're on now. I bought my phone just under a year ago straight from Verizon and was on the most recent update and still was able to flash back with the r&d or the flash tool itself

Flashing to 11a works like a charm every time I had to just to get a fresh start on testing ROMs. Flashify just makes it simple to put philz on as a custom recovery. Which is pretty darn good if you ask me. Their should be no issue in going straight to 11a

I think I might have just bricked it.
After trying the dd recovery flash, unsuccessfully flashing recovery, I was able to get back into system. Once there, I tried to flash phil's cwm via loki. It said my aboot was the wrong version, so I thought I'd just OTA to 12B. It shut down and tried to go into recovery, only there is no working recovery. I can get it to show the LG logo and it flashes something about boot certification, then the screen goes blank and I get several dozen volumes needing to be reformatted coming up on my PC.
Is it done for?
No its not. We just need to get that 11a tot file and a few other proper files I'll grab for you to use the flash tool to fix it....should work...we'll figure it out I'm sure....see if you can get into download mode...brb
