I did go back from CM 10.1.2 to a stock 4.0.4 ROM. But now I'm unable to 'browse for a zip file' on the sdcard in the stock recovery.
-I did a factory reset + \data & \system format in the CWM recovery
-I installed the Samsung P7310XXLPP_P7310PHNLP1_PHN stock rom with Odin 3.0.7
-In the stock recovery when I try to "apply update from external storage" I got an error
Does somebody know what is causing the error and how I can fix it?

There is no possibility to install zips with stock recovery on any 4.0.4. It worked only on 3.x. You need to flash CWM/TWRP to install updates. After you've done with root/updates, you can restore stock recovery back, but it still won't be able to flash anything.

Thank you sir! Now it's crystal clear :good:
I really thought that I flashed a root package once with a stock ICS rom + recovery.

if used this one more than 3 months, is better than the original Sam version.

I´ve used Safarikings version for a while, but it got laggier and laggier the more I used it.
So now I´m using [ROM][4.3][P7300/P7310][UNOFFICIAL] AOKP
Sure some bugs, but it´s smooth as hell

The main thing is it can restore one file system over another.
Ie. If you're using an EXT4 ROM (CM7, MoDaCo) you can restore a backup of the stock EXT3 ROM without any messing around, unlike before.
5.0.1.6 restore do not have backward compatibility, that means backup taken by 5.0.x.x will not work if trying to restore with 4.0.1.5

Will you make Mod based on v5 ?
When the source is released yes, although v5.x has support for flashing from both internal and external SD already, so there may not be much need for it (can't be sure on this as I don't know how it behaves with ROM Manager and a stock-based ROM).
Even if it doesn't need messing with to work, I'll build it when new versions are committed as I am an update slag.
mine is 5.0.1.6

Rusty, is it true?
No idea, haven't tried to go back to v4.
Does make sense though, as v5 saves the backups as .ext3 or .ext4 instead of .img, so v4 won't recognise the files.

Ya, Later released 5.0.1.6
I tried the CM kang by temaseek, but when I tried to restore the backup of an ext3 rom, the o2x gone on bootloop. So we need to convert in ext3 before restore if we come from an ext4 rom.
No we don't, that's the point of CWM v5
Latest Rom Manager i can get through market still brings CWM v4.

Hello everyone, im fairly new to the rooting scene and I had a question about CMW. I would like to apologize in advance if the question appears to be off-topic.
Anyways after rooting my GT-N7000 and installing CWM, I wanted to backup my current stock rom before trying out the Jelly Bean AOKP ROM. I found a tutorial that explains the proper way of backing up your phone. So i followed them and powered off my phone, held Up volume, home and power buttons, however unlike in the tutorial video ClockWorkMod recovery didn't show up on my screen but the stock Android recovery did. I would like to know if I made a mistake during the rooting process, or is smth wrong with my phone?
Can somebody please take the time and answer this n00bie question because I wanna try out new roms as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance.
I have included a picture of how my screen looks like when I followed the aforementioned instruction.

It may be that you have root, but you do not have CWM. You can use Mobile Odin to load safe kernel (Speedmod, Notecore, Hydracore). You can also upload a secure kernel using Odin PC, but you will have a yellow triangle, which can be removed TriangleAway.apk downloaded from market. This way you get full root and CWM.

In on a stock ICS ROM 4.0.3 by Samsung, rooted of course, as for the picture here it is I can't post a direct link and the picture insert doesn't work , so I inserted it as an attachment.

You've got root ok, just flash hydracore kernel which has cwm in built. Flash with mobile odin and you shouldn't raise flash counter, even if you do you can use triangle away to remove, then you're set to go.

If you have rooted and on a stock kernel.. then installing new roms are of a greater risk as this involves full wipe.. which triggers the erase...
its best to flash the hydracore latest version 5.1 using mobile odin... as this has latest version of CWM and is safe for wipes.. do a nandroid backup in recovery and then u good for other roms
With the root files which I downloaded from downloadandroidrom.com was included the franco kernel which upon flashing grants permanent CWM recovery.
Hope it helped.

FYI,
Coming from Epinter's cm10 11/5, I factory wiped data and cache, followed by wiping the system and dalvic cache as well. Then I flashed webtop first followed by this ROM at 1:20am est using TWRP 2.2.2.0 which resulted in my phone stating there was no operating system installed when I attempted to reboot. I then flashed cwm 5.0.2.7, rebooted recovery, wiped all again and installed web top and this ROM, which gave the same results. I tried wiping all files again and flashing my backup zip made with ROM factory but this was unsuccessful as well. I noticed during the install of the rom, it stated a script was running during the installation process and that same message was appearing during the flash of the backup I made. I had to flash Epinters cm 10 from scratch to recover.

I don't know what you mean with prerequests, but if you mean something like (pre)requirements I would say it's like
A installed 20A firmware
Root
Unlocked Bootloader
Installed CWM.
How to install should be like any other rom atm:
Place it on your internal sd card
Boot into CWM recovery
Choose something like "install zip from internal storage"
Choose the downloaded zip
Install it and on next reboot you will have a deodexed and zipaligned V20A
I take no warranty to these steps, but I think it should work. I would be glad if somebody could confirm these steps...

The reason this won't boot is it doesn't have boot included, you need to have the same v20a its based on installed, this works much like the deodex for ICS where it only modifies the /system partition. Just look inside the zip, no boot.img!
