How do I prevent HTC Setup from appearing in my status bar? I froze the apk in TB, but it still pops up every so often asking me to set up htc sertvices. tia

I upgraded to FRG83D a couple of days ago and all has been well. Today I have been getting two SMS notifications for each SMS I receive . . . one shows the old postcard style icon, the other shows the current smiley face messaging icon. I didn't even know the postcard style icon was still in use, so I'm at a loss. The second notification comes through as a totally separate notification about a second after the first, and instead of saying who the message is from, it merely says that I have one unread message.
Any ideas?
You have 2 apps "seeing" the SMS. One is stock, one is something else. Check what programs you have installed (other SMS client). Look in /system/app, you might have 2 stock clients installed, one old with wrong name (names are case-sensitive).

I don't have any third party messaging app installed, so I know that's definitely not it. Is there a way of checking this out without having a rooted phone? I checked the FAQ but everything I saw points to needing root access.
Uncheck Read Reports in the messenger app settings.
I actually just figured it out. Well, fixed it, still don't know why it was doing it in the first place. I just went to Settings>Applications>Messaging and clicked "erase data" and it seems to be fixed. I'm at a loss as to why it started in the first place.

Does anyone else have issues with the 'People' app?
I can browse my contacts with no problems but when I try to go on their profile/thread it closes and displays a error message...
Sorry!
People has stopped unexpectedly.
Would you like to tell HTC?
Options 'Force Close' or 'Tell HTC'
Is there a way of fixing this? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
I really can't understand what the problem is as it's not something I've heard of or even encountered, but it doesn't sound right!
Can you take it back to the phone store that you made your purchase of the handset so they can take a look at it and if need be replace it?

a bit drastic for what is probably just a corrupt contact in the database...
First off, clear the data for people in the applications settings menu
home>menu>settings>applications>manage applications>all>people>clear data.
also, try removing any accounts that you may have set up to sync the contacts with, like HTC Sense, Facebook, twitter etc.
Now, if once that's all done, it works fine, then set up the other accounts again one by one to find out which one is screwing it up.
Chances are, someone has put something stupid in their facebook profile, like putting 'ask me if you want it' as their phone number, instead of just leaving it blank.
Hi folks. I picked up a new HTC One a couple days ago. Love it!!!
One issue I have, though, is an "authentication problem" message that I'm receiving.
It happens when I go into the Gallery (when it updates).
I get an error indicator in the top left, and I receive a message that says "Authentication problem" when I drag down from the top left.
When I tap on the error message, it shows a Facebook page with an error note. If I click "okay" I then go back to a main phone/desktop screen. But the error indicator in the top left remains.
If I instead back out of the Facebook error page, I have a notification window on my screen that reads, "Authorization problem - Please authorize HTC Sense to access your Facebook account. Once your HTC Sense is authorized, you can read and post updates in People, Gallery and Calendar."
I don't know what it's looking for me to authorize or do, or where to do it. And I can only get rid of the error note in the top left corner if I restart the phone.
I'm not sure if it's related to Blinkfeed or something else. With Blinkfeed, it's not my "home screen" and I moved that Blinkfeed screen all of the way to the side and have nothing checked, so the phone is not updating anything through there. I'm not sure if it's related to this error message problem I'm having.
Please help. Thank you.
Sounds like it's Facebook authentication that it's looking for. There should be a way to turn that off. At least I hope there is.. my phone won't be here until tomorrow, but I'll be damned if I want Facebook to do anything with it until I tell it to (which is no further than installing the app).

Yeah, I'm sure there's a way to turn off whatever is causing this to happen, but: 1) I don't know why it's happening; and 2) I can't find whatever I need to do in order to stop it.
Problem solved.
From what it seems, the One's Gallery was trying to interact with Facebook and couldn't. I went into Facebook from my desktop and turned on Applications (I had it off). That seems to have done the trick.

yes facebook is requesting AUTH for access to your photos. the gallery section now will pull photos from your facebook if you have it setup. BUT if you have 3rd party access turned off everytime gallery goes to pull when you start it, it will get rejected from the facebook website which is why you were getting the AUTH issue.

OMG! thank you been pulling my hair for a day. Even went so far to deactivate my facebook profile. cheers to you!
Hey guys!
Recently, I bought an HTC One and because I'm switching from a Nexus device, I installed as many stock Android apps as possible from the Play Store.
Including the stock SMS app, which seems to bring some problems:
1. Even after disabling notifications inside the Sense SMS app, it still has influence on the unread counter. My new android stock SMS app now always shows a "(1)" on its icon, even if there are no unread messages. After starting the sense stock messaging app once, the counter disappears ...but only till a new message comes in.
2. I often get a "message not sent" notification when using the android stock SMS app, but the message is being sent though. Some seconds later the message is marked as sent and everything is okay (Transmission report is active).
Do you have any ideas how to fix these issues? The easiest way would be to disable the sense messaging app, but I'd like to leave my bootloader locked for a while, so I'm looking for a solution without having root.
Bump
Any ideas?
So I have had all three of the Galaxy Note phones, but I am having this weird problems with some apps and their notifications only on my Note 3. For example, whenever I use Pandora I have 2 notifications constantly running in my status bar. One of them tells me the song that is currently playing and the second one is telling me that Pandora is running. If I go into the app manager and disable the ongoing notification, it takes away both and I want to keep the song notification running.
I have this problem for other apps also, like ReLaunch. I went into the app settings and disabled the ongoing notification, but it is still there. So I went into the app manager again like I did with Pandora to take it away. Now whenever I restart my phone the notification comes back until I uncheck and then recheck the box to disable the notification. This also happens with other apps like some sms apps and Buzz Launcher.
Does anyone else have these problems and/or ways to fix them? I am running stock and not rooted at the moment.
Thanks.
