Hello all,
I'm wondering, is anyone else having an issue with turning off the lock screen lighting up upon receipt of a notification?
For example, every single time I receive a text message, my lock screen lights up showing me that I have a message. In the past I was easily able to disable this through the settings, but can't seem to find it now. It's extremely annoying and consumes more battery I would imagine.
Thanks in advance!
+1 . I dont wanna to override and let dashclock do its with notifyinge on the lockscreen

Since updating to marshmallow, my longer notification sounds, especially Calendar Snooze, are cut off.
I read somewhere about an app setting to allow it to turn the screen on as a fix. I did that but now I can't remember what app I made the change in or where I read that suggestion. I thought it might have been Light Flow, but I can't find it in there.
Now my power button fails to wake up the screen the majority of the time. Sometimes the lock screen will flash for a fraction of a second and go black again. Usually it takes 6-10 tries before the screen finally stays on so I can use my phone.
Since the wake up problem started when I tried to fix the notification sound, I'm pretty sure they're related. Any ideas?

if youre using lightflow id suggest wiping the data in it and resetting your notification settings. it does tend to override the system so i can see that screwing with the duration of the notification, and starting fresh usually solves most problems
i have mine set to wake the screen for SMS but not MMS. it creates similar problems with the screen
Thanks for the info. I tried just toggling the screen on settings on and back off for all of the Light Flow apps, and it seems to have fixed my screen turn on problem, at least for now.

I'm having the same notification sound cut short problem, I have a nexus 7 wifi 2013 model running Mohamed rom v2.1
Whenever anyone calls me on google hangouts, the ring only lasts for a second before its cut off, this doesn't happen if the front cover is open, it happens only when its closed.
I didn't have this problem on kitkat, but on MM this problem started from day 1.
I don't see any light flow option anywhere.
Any suggestions to fix this will be very appreciated.
Thanks.

LightFlow fixed my screen problems, but it was just a coincidence that I installed Marshmallow and my sounds got cut off around the same time. I'm still looking for a solution to that issue. Similar to you, if my screen is on, the notification sounds work correctly. If the screen is off, they get cut off.
Hello note 8 owners
I have a problem with the edge lightning feature. It works great when screen is on. I also really like the small notification when its activated. (Much better as the standard heads up notifications.
But the edge lightning don't work when screen is off [emoji53]
I asked on a German forum and there the people also reported it won't work when screen is turned off.
So it only wrong work with German DBT CSC or it is a firmware bug?

Haha. Mine works when the screen is off but not when it's on.
Really? What the.....
Then you should be a lucky guy. When screen is on, this feature is nearly useless. Because then i see an incoming message.
now is the question: why is it the other way around you

No idea. I've tried all 3 settings, when it's on, when it's off, and always. No matter what it only works when it's off.
Actually, sms only works when the screen is off. I was configuring blokada, and it worked when the screen was on.
It doesn't work for gmail at all.
Turn the notiffication popup
Try to turn on pop-up notification from the application settings. I got the same problem, already turn the edge ligjtning to 'always'. When i go to LINE and WhatsApp messenger then i realized that i wasn't turn the pop-up notification on :good: and now it soved and really pretty on my phine (Galaxy Note8)

Hey guys,
Just got my phone in the mail today. One thing I have noticed is that notifications don't wake the screen up at all, no matter the app. I can't seem to find a way to turn it on either. I've used the app Glimpse Notifications on my G6 but it was a bit buggy and drained the battery.
I don't use the AOD because I'm not a fan, but does anyone know a way to ensure notifications wake the screen?
As far as I know without AOD on the only notification you'll receive is the LED indicator at the top of the screen. The screen won't light up when something new comes in.
Also, does anyone else notice that you can't double tap notifications to unlock the phone? You have to tap then swipe - can this be changed? It's super annoying.

Android Oreo introduced new Notification Channels. From Settings -> Notifications, you can specify the priority for each app. Anything below URGENT will not wake the screen when it comes in.
I spoke to samsung support, even if urgent - only native apps will wake up the screen, Like Samsung SMS.
Gmail or Whatsapp will not or any other app you install, only the once that came with the samsung rom installed
I use the app Glimpse Notification. It works very well.

The last 4 years Samsung has stop the faction to wake screen on with notifications...Instead you have AOD to notify you....
So the only solution is to use 3rd party app like ''Glimpse notifications'' that Works excellent with all samsung devices with no battery drain....
this is ridiculous.
I'm on 8.1 oreo latest build for unlocked Note9.
I turn off AOD, I have all apps notifications set to urgent.
Edge lighting works great with the screen on. With the screen off it's worthless. Nothing works with edge lighting and the screen off. And AOD off except the alarm app.
If its sms wake you want there are 3rd party sms apps that will wake the phone. but agree there should be a way. not even sure rooting the phone would do it.
I just bought a Redmi 9, but I discovered that it doesn't have a notification LED. It's really annoying not being able to see if the phone has notification just by looking at it. Are there solutions to this?
I tried the Always On Edge app and it does the trick, but unfortunately, not having an AMOLED display makes it drain too much battery for me...
Are there other solutions that don't kill the battery too much? How do you usually become aware of unread notification?
As far as i know there is a app for blinking with flashlight when u get a call or something, have used it on my Huawei.

use glimpse notifications, you can set the led flash to notify you of new notifications and use it to turn the screen on again and again at the set time for as long as u want after getting notifications and many more features, it's free on the google app store
I totaly forget that the flashlight blinking when call incoming is in the settings of the phone,no need for an app.Cheers!!!
