Hi all,
I'm currently on 1.31.651.2 (Android 4.1.2) and just started getting the notifications to update to 3.04.651.2 (Android 4.3). I'm currently Unlocked but with S-On, with TWRP installed. The Stock ROM is rooted for my convenience.
What is the best course of action to get to 4.3? I know I can't OTA without putting Stock Recovery on and I'd like to avoid doing that right now.
From what I'm reading and seeing there is a Rooted 4.3 Odex/DeOdex ROM, but I'm wary from people saying it hasn't worked 100% right. I also am reading that I should do S-Off before doing it (for the radios?).
So what should I do? I'd really like to get onto 4.3 and I'm not certain of the upgrade path at this point. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated!

You don't necessarily need to update your firmware, nor your radio to update to 4.3
Right now there are 3 android 4.3 ROMs which are buggless.

Flashing firmware and radio is OPTIONAL, your phone will work fine even without them
IF you want you can flash only the radio(no need s-off) http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23159073880933335
IF you want to flash the firmware you need to be s-off first. The new firmware contains a new touch driver, so before flashing it you'll need to update TWRP to the latest (2.6.3.0) if you haven't already. The firmware can be found here http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23159073880933456
Note if you update your firmware touch won't work if you install a 4.1.2 ROM, it works only on 4.3 ROMs

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure what the firmware files were for. I was looking at the stuff in the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467607
I really want to keep a stock rom, and that's stock + root. Since I think I want to flash the firmware file (new drivers yay!) I'll need to do S-Off first. That's exactly the info I needed. I already have TWRP 2.6.3.0 (that's the one part I saw that I could understand and I always like to run the latest anyways).
Really appreciated. Thanked.
Sorry to piggy back, but how can we make sure we are on the new firmware or not? I flashed it but I remember seeing an error in the CMD window and want to make sure it went through ok.

For those interested, here's the path I took in full:
1) Installed TWRP 2.3.6 while on old (rooted) stock.
2) Obtained S-Off using revone including getting rid of the tampered flag. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582 )
3) Installed Full firmware from O.M.J. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467607 )
4) Installed Rooted Stock from same URL as Step 3.
5) Reinstalled TWRP 2.3.6 from the TWRP website using fastboot commands.
6) Flashed SuperSU 1.65 from the kit ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244060 )
I now have 4.3 rooted Stock with the latest firmware.
Thanks to all who commented, but especially elvisypi. I was reading through the O.M.J. thread and saw you answered a lot of my questions in there. My bad for not reading before going and posting. Thanks regardless.

All,
I decided that I do not want to wait for HTC to roll out the 4.2.2 update on my HTC One Dev and install a custom rom. I really tried to stick with stock because I was sick and tired of constant flashing and just want something that is stable and for work. But my itch is coming back and would just like to get a stable stock like rom ie Android Revolution HD 12. (Opinions for stable and stocklike?)
Anyways, since I have the Dev Edition, just want to make sure I'm doing this right, and have a couple of questions:
Since I'm bootloader unlocked, all I need to do is root, install a custom recovery ie CWM or TWRP, and flash a rom?
What do I do with firmware and radios? I know I should flash these seperately, but can anyone give me advise on which to flash? Again, I have the Dev Edition on At&T network.
Thank you all for any advice you can give me.

There's no real reason to flash either firmware or radio. but Install a recovery, which will root the phone for you, make a nandroid backup and flash to your heart's content.
I think you should read next link:

@vomer posted a detailed guide to achieve Firmware upgrade, S-OFF and other stuff. If you want to go with stock experience, then go with ARHD 12.1.
You need S-OFF to upgrade the firmware (which is recommended). If you have 1.54 HBOOT, you will not gonna be able to flash a custom firmware and you will have to use the full firmware package which I'm not sure if Vomer included in his guide, but you can always look for Mike's firmware compilation topic

This is a little off.
If you have 1.54 hboot, you are already on the most recent firmware. But because of that, you can't s-off and flash future firmware updates. You're limited to flashing custom roms at the moment.
How can I tell what version of hboot I'm on?

You're on 1.44 because your phone is still stock on 4.1.2. So you're okay.

To know this, all you need to do is go to the bootloader. As your bootloader is already unlocked, I will assume you know how to get here...
Anyway, you can just reboot the device while keeping the Vol Down key pressed and you will enter bootloader.
Hello all, first time posting on this site. Apologies if I seem like a leecher because my first post happens to be asking for help
I want to make sure I have the right information handy before I attempt anything as I'm afraid of bricking my phone. I've done much research on downgrading from 4.3 GE firmware to 4.2.2. Sense firmware and I've run into a bit of a wall. I'm getting conflicting advice from the various sources. Some say to downgrade hboot to 1.44 and flash 1.29 firmware. Some say relock the bootloader before doing so. I am not entirely sure on how to progress. I also have read things about the 1.54 GE hboot not working with S-OFF. All in all this makes for a very confusing read. Could someone point me in the right direction or be generous enough to post directions of their attempt?
Thanks again.
I am running 3.06.1700.10 firmware with 4.3 GPe. SuperCID and S-OFF. Model ID is PN0172000

I am assuming here that your device was originally running Sense and that you flashed the 3.06.1700.10 firmware and a GE 4.3 rom.
If you want to flash a 4.2.2 Sense custom rom then you can do that without reflashing the firmware..... I am running ARHD 12.2 (4.2.2) with the firmware and radio from 3.06.1700.10 and everything is good.
If you wish to reflash a 4.2.2 firmware then you can do this also as you are s-off and supercid..... this is done by exactly the same method used to flash the 3.06.1700.10 firmware.
If your intention is to completely return to stock (firmware and rom) then you will need to find the correct RUU for your device and run that.... search and you will find that there are several threads available explaining how to do that.

If I flashed a Sense ROM on top would I still be able to use all the features and apps that are included? My intention was to really just be rid of all that comes with Google Play. I don't mind the radios or firmware.
Another reason is for some reason when I turn my phone off while charging, the charging screen (battery with voltage icon) come on but then stays on. The screen won't turn off like on Nexus devices. Is this a normal feature or a bug? Do you have this too? That's mostly my reason for going back to 4.2.2 firmware.

You will have to wipe the data on your device before flashing a 4.2.2 rom so you will have to install and setup your apps again but you will have all the included apps in the rom.
The charging icon is a feature of 4.3 but I'm not sure if it should stay on.... I didn't run a 4.3 rom long enough before returning to a sense rom.

Wasn't sure if that was part of the ROM but I'll try it out. Wouldn't putting a 4.2.2 ROM on top of 4.3 cause some sort of instability? I mean the kernel included is usually meant for 4.2.2.

Final question. Thank you for your help by the way. I could really just flash over the 2.24.401.1 firmware over my current firmware and I wouldn't have to worry about downgrading hboot etc? I could just flash it in fastboot?
I am running a fully unlocked s-off, super cid, HTC one. I recently upgraded it to ARHD 5.1 kit Kat ROM and I also pushed the latest CWM recovery before flashing.
I want to upgrade the rest of the files that I am lacking since I didn't not flash a ruu or ota. What additional files do I need to flash in order to make my one all up to date as far as the latest kit Kat update.
What is the latest: hboot? Radio? Firmware? Any help will be greatly appreciated in helping me get 100% up to date.
Thanks!

I researched and found the 4.4 firmware, and radio and will flash them later on. How about hboot/ boot loader?

Is it actually true that one has to relock the bootloader and do a wipe in order to be able to flash a new firmware?
Also when flashing the latest firmware, the latest radio is right included, isn't it?
Just flash the radio man. Beware of the isssues people are having with 4.4 update. Just look at the last three four pages of this section.
So I've been sitting on 4.1.2 and 1.29 Software for a while because I didn't wanted to tamper with my root. Recently decided to update, but I want to install the Custom Rom from Hawknest:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2496069
My main question is do I need to update to 4.3(Or 4.4?) before flashing in Ecliptic on TWRP or can I skip that part and simply flash in the Rom?
If I have to update, how do I update manually? Updating over the air sends me to TWRP after installing and I'm guessing this is because installing from OTA will get me unrooted. Finally, how do I know which is the correct ROM for me, he has KitKat and JellyBean as downloadables so I am uncertain. I'm guessing JellyBean, but I would like to get KitKat if possible.
My phone has:
Software 1.29.651.10
Firmware 4.1.2
HTCSense 5.0
I'm S-On on TWRP 2.6
Well what i did yesterday was go to Ecliptic kitkat from 4.1.2 just did bootloader and s_off rooted and install rexovery in rexovery did 3 full wipes (just in case) flash kitkat then the lastest modem for our sprint one niw im good and rolling

all the questions you have can be answered with bd19 frequently asked in q&a its very resourceful! also make sure you understand the file structure change after 4.1 or can have storage issues, also in q&a. imo getting s-off before doing anything would be a good starting point. good luck!
If I'm not mistaken you're also going to need to update your touch firmware as well

I believe i understood you were s-off already. If so you could update your recovery to the latest 2.7.0.4b and i would update your firmware to the latest as well. As for hboot i flashed roots aroma hboot and worked perfectly.

No, it is not s-off presently. I originally rooted it a year ago when new and installed ViperOne 1.0.
Do you know where I can find the latest firmware? Are you suggesting I downgrade TWRP from 2.7.0.1 to 2.6.3.0?

To be honest with you i would back up your apps and data with titanium backup from the playstore and then just do a full wipe in twrp meaning system and data as well. Just dont erase internal storage. Then reflash the rom zip and everything will be fresh and new. Then restore everything with titanium.
PS: just to let you know viper one has been updated to sense 6.0 if you check there link again.
Unforunately, I can't seem to do that now. Neither TWRP or Philz will allow me to do anything. Did I overwrite the SuperSU app?
