What's a good app for disabling other apps that automatically start in the background? Some apps are so irritating they keep coming back, after i kill the task.

Try Gemini App Manager from the market. Keep in mind that not every app can be disabled.

You could try Startup Manager and Advanced Task Manager.
What task manager are you guys using... Since Motorola did not put one on here like the original atrix

I don't use one. If there is an open app I just swipe it closed using the bottom right soft key, seems to kill the app.
On ICS it didn't seem to kill it, now it does, but I could be wrong.

Actually swiping from the "recent apps" does not kill the app. HUGE "wives tail"

Android kills apps automatically when needed. So why use a task manager?
