[Q] Fast Charge with MHL connected - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have had my Xperia Z a while and a few months ago I bought a pioneer app radio for my car to use with ARLiberator app.
For those who dont know: This basically makes use of MHL to mirror screen of phone and then bluetooth to take touch inputs from the stereo's 7" touch screen and control as if you were using your android phone.
Everything is working great. However I have major battery drain issues even with apps like screen standby to turn phone screen off.
I installed Doom kernel which enables fast charge, the fast charging works with normal usb on my pc however when I try to activate fast charge with the MHL it just shows "Charging (USB)".
Anybody got any advice to get fast charge working with MHL?
thanks, Will

Galaxy Tab car dock - hi temperature

I have recently purchased the original Samsung car holder.
After my tab reaches the 100% full charge, it beeps and advise me to disconnect.
If I don't do it, the tab itself begins to overheat after some minutes.
It oveheats really hi ! On the right side of the tab.
It seems like the car charger is not able to stop charging, differently from the house 220V charger.
Have you experienced something like me with your car charger ?
I have been using the car dock, sinds the beginning. Cannot say that i have noticed any excess heat. Note: i have used a brodit clip to install it on the air vent. Nicely in front of me without blocking line of sight.
All the phones i had "overheated" when connected in a car dock, having a forced air flow over it quickly eradicates this problem!
I use my tab in my car using the usb cable and a generic usb 12v adapter and it doesnt overheat, even when using the tab heavily (screen full bright, Torque app, and Pandora).

Ok, thanks for all your answers.
Could I ask you all, if you use bluetooth in your car?
I use bluetooth ON to stream music from SGT into my car stereo.
I mean it could be an overheat problem caused by the bluetooth antenna, isn't it ?
Bruno
I never use bluetooth.

I have bought the original dock nearly one year agoand it overheated only one time (car standing in the sun). I use my tab with Bluetooth and wifi activated.
New experiment:
I have put it in the car dock, no wifi, no bluetooth. Only 3G + Google Navigator were ON.
It reaches 100% and after become very hot (in the right side)!
Now I need to try again with display off, and 3G off; only power charge.
And finally I will understand (as I suspect) there is something it's not ok in my car dock (I remember you that with my original home plug cord all is ok !)

Adding to my post earlier, and answering your question, my audio is through bluetooth while I am running those apps.
It's even two bluetooth connections... Pandora and Torque at the same time.

Yeah, i think you're right. Without being an expert: Sounds to me, like it doesn't deactivate after the battery has reached 100%. As I understand.d you, it becomes hot after it is loaded to full capacity, right?
You should try to exclude all functions, that may be the source of this malfunction. Put it into flight mode and just try loading the tab. Then start activating single functions like wifi etc. After that, you can try combinated function.s like Bluetooth and wifi.

[Q] Car Dock Not Charging Phone

I have a Captivate with AOKP m5. I can not get the phone to charge while in the car dock. The phone recognizes the dock; as soon as I plug it in the phone goes into car mode. I know the charger works. I was able to charge fine while using a gingerbread ROM.
Does this seem like a ROM issue, ICS issue, or kernel issue? I'm not really sure what tells the phone to charge, etc.
Any ideas?
The car charger that came with my phone does not charge it too, the red light turn on, but the phone does not recognize, the connection feels loose.
But the charger from my Samsung Jet (same connector) works ok, and the connection is not loose at the other charger, it's almost firm.
Both chargers are generic.
I would try another charger.

[Q] Can the Xperia T battery be charged in LG-ND5520 dock?

Hi! I just bought the LG-ND5520 dock (Dual, for Micro USB and iPhone connectors), and when I connect my Xperia T it doesn't charge the battery at all.
In other side, it charges perfectly a LG Optimus Hub and a LG L7, I supposed because of the brand, but, doesn't it have to use an standard current to charge android phones? or is a problem with some Xperia configuration? or Sony personalization?
The dock only charges the phone, it doesn't use the connection for reading files or anything else, it uses Bluetooth for pairing, and that's why I would like to be able to charge the Xperia T when docked (BT really drain up the battery).
I've tried letting the Xperia plugged in for a while and the battery only goes down. When I plug it on the dock nothing pops up or sound, it looks like nothing is connected. I also would like to be able to program actions in the Smart Connect app, but it doesn't recognize the connection.

[Q] Will no longer charge using Dock cable

HI all,
C6903 would previously charge using an official Sony dock cord. Yesterday, however, the phone started making the 'phone flat' beepjng noise (it was close to flat), so plugged into the dock to charge. The beeping continued every few seconds, the screen rotation started playing up (I do have a screen rotation lock that hasn't been a problem) and the phone won't fully charge (the charge symbol is there, just keeps dropping. The error message "the connected power source is not sufficient. The battery is draining faster than it is charging. Minimise device usage while charging" popped up. It does charge VERY slowly if the phone is off airplane mode and the screen is off (it charged approx 30% in 10 hours, this way).
No rogue apps, etc. I reset to factory settings and the problem is still there. Phone charges fine using standard micro-usb.
Here in the NL, the carrier (KPN) send your phone away for minimum 2 weeks (& will not give you a replacement), and they will likely just test with the standard USB charger, which is fine.
Anyone experienced this & any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Adam
sounds like the cable is faulty, probably only one way to find out if you know someone with a dock - or just send the dock back to were you purchased it declaring it faulty
I've had similar issues, I solved it by rebooting the phone and plugging it in using sony usb charger until the charge is over 30%, after I got mine to 30% using usb, it then was able to charge using the dock.
you could check the dock with a multimeter, but there's not really much to the dock itself, so unless it's a broken wire, the problem is with the wall charger which the docks plugged into or the phone
Thanks all. I will check if it is the dock/cable or the power plug when my wife gets home - she also has the Z1.
Thanks again, will keep updated.
Adam
Yeah, sadly the cables don't last too long - went through 2 cables up until now and many more to come.

Slow charging still there after disabling

Hi xda devs, I need some help for my Xperia Z3 compact. I disabled the slow charging (from about/status) but it still charging very slowly and it shows "slow charging" in the lockscreen when i'm using my phone while charging.
build 25.5.A.1.291 (Android 6.0.1)
thaaaanks :cyclops:
Are you supplying enough power? My phone charges slow from PC but fast from the old Nokia charger I use (via magnetic adapter).
There's absolutely no problem with the power it's 1000mAh. But I noticed that reaching 1000Ah takes a while at the beginning when I plug the charger.
If I let my phone alone it reachs easily 1000mAh but when I'm using it im on 800mAh. I also noticed that when i'm charging my phone while using it sometimes it gets heavy and crashs.. I never noticed that kind of problem before..
