i would like to know if Ia m the only one, experiencing constant restarts on the phone, almost every single day and more than once.
hmm sounds like you have some sort of software issue, reflash the software and see if you get this issue again. I've had the phone 2 weeks now and had no weird restarts or anomalies, check my sig it shows what firmware on.

Your sig is what I have really surprised, o well might do a reflash or something, but the phone has also shut off a couple of times, not sure why, but when I unplug the phone from the charger usually.

Yeah I will let you know, besides that, this phone is great, build quality, UI, battery, display, and even the speakers are louder than the G2 and yes I compared them. This is by far the best android experience I had even if it restarted, it is still the best I owned

Well I thought I was the only one, but it seems in android central people are reporting random shutdowns, please let me know if this is a widespread issue, because they also said they dont have an SD card to wipe, so it seems it's not the card causing the problem, but certaintly the same thing is happening to me.
I having these issues also, i have left a message on sony facebook page. This is starting to piss me off for a $1000 phone it is not good enough. It is also corrupting my files on the phone
Wow that is definitely not acceptable, Im leaning to switch back to the HTC One, but still debating, depends to see how many are having this issue.
if anybody knows let me know if this a known issue or if is affecting only a small portion of the phones thanks

HERE YOU GO MY FRND
All users who are facing this problem... i have solved it.. the prob is with android 4.0+ onwards... do not pop in mem cards from other fone directly...
take your memory card out and copy the entire card data on hard drive and then format the card in pc with default settings. then switchoff the fone and put the card in it... it will take smtime to initialize the card at first run. have patience and let it create the suitable folders... the data u looking forward to copy is pics, vids and music files... rest stuff is there on ur fone and it will stop rebooting. DO NOT FORMAT THE CARD FROM WITHIN THE FONE... it has been seen that with android 4.0+ they do not format flawlessly....enjoy and ur rebooting problem will b over...
I have the same problem. My Z1 restarts several times a day. 10 times just today.
I don't have a sd card in the phone, and I never had any sd card. So that can't be my problem.
I don't see any pattern in when it restarts. I can be browsing the web, checking facebook, playing games. Or when the phone just lays on the table. Charging or not charging.
One thing I have seen is that right before it restart the cell signal is gone and there is a sim card icon in the notification bar.
I'm switching cell provider in 2 days, so I will see if it gets any better with a new sim card.

well that doesnt seem a solution for me, I tried what he said and didnt fix my problem the shutdowns happen quite often, I might have to look at a stable device, I may look at the incoming nexus 5, I do like the Timescape UI, but restarting a couple of times a day I cannot agree to that, I had it happen when a call comes in, so it is a problem, because people think I hang up on them.
I got my new sim card and the phone haven't restarted once!
So it looks like my problem is solved.
The difference between my old and new provider is that my old (OneCall in Norway) is renting net from Telenor and the phone is roaming most of the time.
My new provider (Netcom) has its on cell phone net.
If you have the same problem you could try with a new sim card, or use the phone without a sim card for a day.
I've this problem too. I don't have an sd card in my phone and I didn't move any old files from another phone. I've been getting a random reboots per day in the last 3 days. I love this phone but I'm not sure if I need to return it. It is unacceptable.

this started happening randomly about 2 weeks ago now
I've tried 3 different roms, but the problem still exists
it first started happening when i had the eneryrom flashed
but now i believe its not the roms thats causing this, i think its the hardware in my x1 or something, im not sure
what can i do to fix this?
basically my x1 restarts by it self, randomly at random times
maybe every other day, and sometimes even twice in a day
its really weird and not looking good at all
any help is appreciated, i just want to fix this

Did you install any kind of softwares or applications? Could be due to an unstable application
Also, does it restart when you are using it or doing something on your phone? or does it just restart while sitting on the table?
If it just restarts when the phone is in your pocket while walking/running (when u r not using it), then it could be possible that your battery is loose.
Check to see if you battery fits perfectly. stick in a folded small piece of paper at one of the bottom side of the battery to tighten the battery if your battery is loose.
Let me know if this is the case.
I would suggest flashing back to stock rom and see if the problem still exists....sd card could be a factor also...

also if its sd card,,,how could i fix that, should i reformat it or something?
This has happened to me in the past when using an HTC Touch Diamond. I think it has something to do with not wiping the device or doing a hard reset before flashing a new rom. Does it hard reset when the phone restarts?

reflash your stock rom.. if your phone is not functioning as normal, then i suggest to check with SE
I would download the ROM and re-flash your phone. Could be possible that the download got corrupted. Wouldn't hurt.

So I have to reboot my Galaxy S about 10-20 times a day -- every day -- because it disappears all the time. I have an external card in there too - but that too goes missing.
Anyone know how to fix this ?
no one knows why this happens ?
no one has EVER had their SD card disappear randomly and have to reboot ?
I don't buy that.
Apparently the 51 viewers as of this post haven't had this problem.
I certainly haven't.
Maybe someone that has, will show up.

Might help to know what firmware and apps you are running.
maybe you need to format the card inside the phone using the built in format app. Maybe you have a fake card. Maybe you have bad phone, in that case get it looked at
happened to me for a few days too.
Went uninstalling everything (tried a bunch of podcast/rss readers trying to find something that could handle passworded podcast feeds) as well as the games I was trying out and a few apps.
Hasn't happened since so one of them had to be the culprit.
- Completely vanilla sgs-i9000m from Bell, just unlocked. Not even rooted.
hey all,
i got my galaxy note now 3 weeks ands it's rebooting random all the time. at a service point i let them do a factory reset but that did not work. does anybody know a solution for this problem? because i dont like to send my note cause i will not have a few days sow if anyone got a solution i like to try it.

Suffering from the same here
I think its related to one of the apps - I will start removing my installed apps one by one from tonight - Will keep you posted with the updates.
Also, if anyone out there had the same issue; please advice!
I had the same issue on previous android devices..I managed to get around it with numerous hard resets. Also I believe that a certain combination of apps will cause it too..but i don't know which ones. I've got a dell streak right now, and its been stable for a few months..having said that, it still randomly reboots once in a while but no where near the consistency it used to.

I had this problem too and it seems to be an installed app problem, particularly any that change the wireless settings in some way or apps that stall when accessing the external SD card at boot times.
this is exactly what happens to me guys, same problem.
Random reboot and this happens all around the clock, no matter if it is day or night or if the phone is in flight mode...
Frankly I don't want to uninstall my apps one by one to check what app is causing the issue because I have no time to spend on it...
I hope that someone with more software skills than me (I am just an user) will succeed to fix it...
cheers.
Do you have Dolphin browser installed?
If it's the case, don't search further...
What's the problem with dolphin browser? I constantly use it and never had a restart. Is OPs phone overclocked or undervolted?
Which rom and kernel are being used?
mine is also rebooting every once in a while for no apparant reason. Mostly when I unplug it from the USB cable but not always. This happened from the first day on. I never did a factory reset but considering it now since the SMemo app is not working anymore (no strokes are visible) and I am out of options.

Dolphin is a well known app for causing random reboot, since SGS 2.
Not for all users but for many:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321612&highlight=randomly
But without Dolphin installed, I really don't know...
I think it's the SD card causing these problems.
My reboot problems all disappeared when I removed the 32Gb sandisk card. I replaced it with a 16Gb card and was very careful about which apps I installed on it. Now whether it was the card size/brand or the selective apps that resolved the issue I can't be sure. Having Dolphin's cache on the phone memory instead of the SD card might also be a solution.
But it's worth investigating if you have reboot problems with external card installed.
Hi guys,
As soon as I got my Note, I rooted it and flashed a custom rom. Never had problems with reboots so far.
So, for a change I though setting it beck to stock was a good idea, with the upcomming ICS update.
As soon as I flashed the stock rom with odin, and it was back to factory situation, the reboots start happening. Every 3-6 hours the Note rebooted. Got in contact with Samsung (NL) and suggested to execute a factory reset, so I tried that a couple of times. But no luck, the reboots keep happening. I thought maybe it was an hardware issue. I have no Sdcard, only my SIMcard, which was a bit warn out, so I order a new SIM. But still, the reboots keep happening.
Then I decided to root my device again and flash a custom rom (Rocket-Rom), and guess what? No more reboots!!!
I hope this helped.
To me, I think automatic reboot is somehow still acceptable. I experienced two times auto power off. Both were happened after I charged it over night, unpluged the charger and left it without unlocking the screen, drove to my work place, and found it dead
I'm only having it for 2 weeks and I haven't rooted it.
it maybe a usb charging issue which is causing so much grief to many note owners. Mine has a defective usb port and it makes my note go crazy, including reboots and makes the note think its charging when its not even connected to charger at all.
Using note since dec... Faced such problem 5 or 7 time whn my phn was nt rooted... But nw its working fine... Using rocket rom v 20...

Ok so this phone is great and i love it and am on stock rooted rom. However this is really starting to piss me off. My SD card has worked fine in my past 2 phones and is a Sandisk 64gb Ultra. Now in this phone it works fine half the time and the other half gives me tons of issues. Ill be listening to music and all of a sudden it will pop this message, sometimes it remounts it and sometimes it wont and i have to either try restarting it and hope that solves the issue or if it pops the message again i have to pull the back cover off and reinsert it? Whats going on is this my phones fault, cards fault, or androids fault or what? Right now it is formatted in Fat32, maybe i should try another like exFat?? Also it works great in my computer and gives no errors when scanned using the built in error scan/repair.
I have this issue I have had 2 SD cards both give errors one now is dead when put in phone even after a format but PC so reads it OK.
I have found that when phone gets really really hot after watching video or playing game a long time this is when I get the errors.
My other phones used to get hot but never have this problem.. Think Sp is a little fragile and throws a wobbly ever so often

Hi guys,
Earlier i found out that my sim card was the one responsible for the sudden reboots of my Xperia T. Does anybody know how to fix this? I am currently on stock JB 4.3 with locked boot loader.
Thanks for the help
Hi there,
I would like to post my 2 cents here too, cause this is bug or whatever it is so annoying that I want to smash my Xperia against the wall.
It started shortly after I upgraded my Xperia T to 4.3 (.295). First I thought it is caused by wrong USIM placement, but even if I pull it out and follow the click to be sure it is placed properly, reboots appear from time to time. I was trying to track the source of this with "standard" steps like factory reset, installing apps and do settings without using Backup&Restore app, testing another USIM however without success, using phone with/without microSD card. I even upgraded to latest bugfixing .199 today but those damn reboots persists.
Maybe these observations will help to solve this issue:
- reboots appear usually after using apps using internet connection (mostly local news, gmail, Chrome etc) and, whats interesting, when screen is off
- mostly when on HSPA, not wi-fi
- when I play music, using PowerAmp, not tested on other mainly because I have no other installed
- sometimes after the call
- once or twice it happened when unlocking the phone
- reboots stops only if battery is totally drained or if I notice smell of the the burning flesh of my thigh and I put my screen on/or reinsert USIM.
I will observe more, but Im loosing patience
There were no reboots when on stock 4.1.2 with locked bootloader with root. I also had to turn off SIM card lock, because I need to be reachable. I like this phone, 4.3 is nicely done but this is driving me mad. I consider to downgrade and visit my local vendor, but beforehand I decided to ask community.
Sorry if this is discussed somewhere else here, I just spotted this post and added my POW. Thanks for your help
it may related to the battery

mine was the opposite, reboots all the time when tethering unless I kept the phone on charge on stock 4.1.2. now on 4.3 and only had two reboots after heavy usage, but the phone wasn't on charge and was hot.
Looks like the reboots are caused by handover between 2G and 3G networks. I have set my T to stick on the 3G only and reboots have disappeared. Two days without single reboot
However I have found strange dots on the display recently, like some layer of the display is too thin and light is bit brighter in these parts, so I need to pay a visit to my vendor anyway.
Theme
Hello. I updated to 4.3 rooted ROM, and always restarted and I cant start the phone when is SIM in. Tried reinstall via CWM, nothing helped. And... yes.. maybe installed programs caused this boot loop, try install step by step program to program and succes. I found Woody theme. When I setup this theme, phone cant process Sim pin code section at start. Deleted theme helped me, and now work fine Darklord Rom
Well, I have finally isolated issue and it is not related to cellular handovers. Reboots are caused by faulty mechanism holding SIM card in place. Despite I hear and feel obvious "click" indicating SIM card is in place and mounted, it is not. After undefined time SIM card gets loosed and you can take it out very easily. Not sure if this is just me or it is a construction issue, but I saw too many posts regarding reboots. Time to check guts of your Xperia folks..

This reboot issue start happening to me just last night, no Wi-Fi no 3G, just using "UBreader" (reading a ebook, obviously ) before sleep... it reboots 3 times within an hour calling for "sim/usim card removed"... After third reboot, I open the card holder and removed SDcard, nothing happen, then I remove the sim card and did it again [the reboot] this time on porpuse, so... yeah, I think what @daemin says is true, the mechanism for holding sim card gets loose after a while... sad but true...
Maybe, when holding the phone, we press to hard on that side without noticing and that cause the problem, I don't know... but this morning I check at running apps and all or mostly all say 7 hours "running" so I think phone didn't reboot after I left it there for sleep... who knows...
