GApps Core 4.2.2
I recommend just flashing this GApps package as it is free of bloat, and you can pick and choose which apps you need and which ones you don't. It contains only the Google Play Store and associated services. Then you can download whatever apps you wish from the store.
Thanks to Neighbor808! :highfive:
I know that's probably overkill on the wiping, but in my own tests this rom is very sensitive to dirty flashing. Enormous slowdown and terrible battery life will ensue. Make sure you have a 100% clean flash.
Update: This is the fourth release. It contains three new zips, with different attributes to each.
First. Version 1.2.3. This is going to be the most stable. It is an update to the current 1.2.2 rom. It contains a few fixes to some annoying things, most notably it includes the MOTO X camera which should work better than the stock MIUI camera. Stock camera remains just because someone might want it there. It also includes a better keyboard. The rotation bug and carrier label bug is still there... I thought I had found the problems, but what I tried did not work. If anybody has any suggestions here, lemme know. It still contains the PurePerformances X engine which will keep the performance and battery life awesome. This version WILL abort installation. Just let it run its course then reboot. All will be fine I promise. Once again guys, I'm learning this as I go, and honestly I've had bigger fish to fry than to fix the install script. it will be fixed eventually.
This version is going to get fixes first, all the aforementioned bugs should be fixed as soon as I can get back to work on it. It should be great for a daily driver already, and this should work for 99% of users.
Now on to the more interesting stuff.
Version 1.4.4 Performance edition ALPHA: This is the hot-rodded version. It contains both Arrgh's Kernel and Pureperformances X engine. Like any hot rod, it's fast and awesome, but it has it's quirks, and may not be suitable for a daily driver. The good news is, the battery life is absolutely awesome. I've come home from 8-10 hours of work with 60% battery left while using it. YMMV of course. And when it is running fast, it's super fast. But it has hiccups, and you may find them too annoying. Also, some of my testers have reported that the built in root manager does not work for some reason, so you may have to flash a superuser zip to obtain root on third party apps. The built-in MIUI apps seem to obtain root just fine with the manager. I am not going to link a superuser zip, because if you don't already have one on your SD card just in case, you're doing it wrong. I recommend flashing this one first and trying it out for a few days. If it doesn't work out for you ATM, try 1.4.4B, and if that one doesn't work, revert to 1.2.3.
This version will also abort installation due to the same error. I promise it will be fine.
Version 1.4.4B ALPHA: This version is the alternate version of 1.4.4 that does not contain the PurePerformances X engine. It does contain Arrgh's kernel. It should be comparable to 1.4.4 in terms of performance but not battery life. Testing is still in progress. The performance hiccups in 1.4.4 seem to be something having to do with PPX and Arrgh's kernel not playing nice. Or it may be my install script mucking things up. Gimme a break, this is my first rom. So this version gets rid of PPX in favor of Arrgh's kernel. It should be nice and stable, and give you more options for CPU governors and overclocking and underclocking without the hiccups caused by the interaction of PPX. This one is to be flashed if 1.4.4 doesn't work out for you. Root works, and the install script will not abort. So if the aborted installation gives you fits and you don't believe it will be ok ... flash this one.
Both 1.4.4 and 1.4.4B are marked as alpha because of the kernel, and because they are going to get fixes after 1.2.3. They contain all the fixes that 1.2.3 has at the moment, and are basically 1.2.3 with Arrgh's kernel, but will not get fixes until after 1.2.3 does. Once I get all the fixes into 1.2.3 (such as rotation bugs and carrier label, etc) they will be merged into 1.4.4 and 1.4.4B.

Awesome. Glad to know LTE is working. The phone thinking its a RAZR HD, and the carrier label will be easy to fix, I just wanted to go ahead get this out for everyone this weekend and didn't have the time to iron it out first. As for the keyboard I will put something more appropriate for English users in the next version. For now I personally just installed Google keyboard. Doesn't fit the theme but it works. As always you can install whatever keyboard you like, for everyone who wants to keep the default one for now, to enable English mode just hit the "en" button at the bottom left. Thanks for the link to the tool as well, everyone use that until the next version. Thanks!

I have T-Mobile and my status bar seems fine show correct carrier and Lte works fine. So far much faster and smoother then tquetski miui. The only bug I found was a small lag sometimes. I'll report more bugs as I find them but so far so good thanks for MIUI

Thanks for the report. T-Mobile checked off on the working list. I am noticing a short lag spike every now and again too. But don't knock tquetski. Without his builds and his helping me out this one wouldn't exist. Thank him too.

I don't think It's a slag but more of an observation
I was pumped to hand this off to someone competent because someone who owns the phone they're building for will always be able to make a solid build because they can self-test; where I can't do that and can't really experiment to identify issues other folks didn't leave feedback on.
So really, my builds were cool to show that yeah It's doable here, but I'm glad you're building as an owner of this device because that's the only 'good' way a solid Rom can be built for a device
Yea let me rephrase that. I know you didn't mean anything bad by it sickkside13, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being compared to tquetski. Thanks for the compliment as well, I don't know that I qualify as competent yet lol, but I'm learning as I go. Also, if anyone running this wouldn't mind, come back in a day or two and report on battery life. It would be much appreciated. I seem to be sucking battery life like crazy but it could be the fact that I'm constantly on it all day testing things.

Make no mistake MIUI wrecks worlds with It's battery life when in constant use; at this point in time as 'v5' it has all the bells & whistles iOS has if not more; non-Xiaomi droid phones do not generally ship with a battery that takes into account how heavy MIUI runs so It's a bit more costly than running something light like CM10
Updated build.prop so the phone isn't detected as an XT925/RAZR HD

Aw thanks skeevydude. I just hadn't gotten the time to go back and edit it.
I knew miui used a lot of battery life but I just wanted to know how everyone else was doing. I'm a battery life fiend, I usually run my processor heavily underclocked with smartassV2. For now though I wanted to see how it would behave with no tweaks. But with my eb40 it still won't reflect stock battery so I'd still like to hear from everyone else.

Reading the last few posts here reminds me of an argument I was in on like my 3rd or 4th post on XDA....I said a rom was buggy and that's why I wasn't using it, someone else took it the wrong way like I was dissing the rom, I wasn't, but I could see how it could be taken that way. That went on for 8-9 posts till he realized I was referring to the V3 of the rom, which was buggy, and not the V2 which worked just fine....spent a few weeks trying to get V3 to work (no success) and the same with V4. MS2Ginger for the Defy ported to the Bravo for the curious ones.

Yea I feel kinda bad now lol. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was getting onto him for dissing Tquetski. I just meant to say that he actually deserves most of the thanks for the work so far, since it is a port of his rom. I just want to make sure nobody does put down Tquetski's old rom, because this really is a successor. I'm just taking over development for our phone. I didn't mean to start anything. Everything is cool.

Misunderstandings happen. Reading this just reminded me of my first one here. Heck, back on the Defy we had 4 or 5 different CM7's...seriously, Quarx, Maniac103, Epsylon3....dammit cant remember the others' names....all had different CM7's each tailored to the dev's particular use. You'd see a thread where someone would post X's CM7 from mm/dd/yy sucks so I'm gonna use Y's from mm/dd/yy. People would chime in and flame the user that said it sucked, then the flamers would flash it, realized an update broke something, and that indeed, that nightly did suck...fun times.
In this case, I figured he was just making an honest comparison between the two roms...to me, X doesn't seem as buggy as Y isn't a put down but a general observation, especially when its posted by a flashaholic like sickkside13.
well battery is kinda slick . i got through 6 hours of battery and had 42% right now(eb40)
my screen on time was 2hrs 2min
I was just using my browser and listening to music as i went browsing for a new case
i set my cpu to 1ghz msm-dvcs(cant remeber exactly)
i'd say its great battery considering how beautiful the Rom looks with the right themes
Sent from my XT925 premium app
That's good to know, thanks xfajitas. I've been using mine at full speed on interactive governor, completely default settings, and its been pretty dismal. I got probably six hours and had to charge at about 15 percent. That's with some extremely heavy usage though. I've been poking at things all day trying to find bugs. Have you noticed any performance degradation at 1ghz?
Also if anyone is able to test this, try to add a WiFi connection manually that has SSID broadcast disabled. I cant seem to get it to add the connection properly. Its a very specific bug I know, but I'd like to know if it's just me or not.

FAQ
What is Cyanogen Mod?
CyanogenMod is an aftermarket firmware for a number of cell phones based on the open-source Android operating system. It offers features not found in the official Android based firmwares of vendors of these cell phones. (Source: Cyanogen Mod Website)
I have a stock Samsung Galaxy Exhibit can I install this?
Unfortunately not out of the box. You first will need to root and install recovery, more information is availible here
Unstable or stable?
Stable is based off the Linux kernel 2.6.35, it will be more reliable in more aspects, and has camera working. Unstable builds are built off of the 3.0 kernel. The 3.0 Kernel is a much newer kernel, which will be considerably faster and probably more stable in certain areas. The open Linux kernel version is significantly hgher, but that hasn't been ported to our device (and probably never will be), for more information on Linux see here
Can I overclock?
Yes. There are custom kernels available here that allow for overclocking. Warning overclocking may cause harm to the device. Flashers beware.
What do you mean you don't use this?
I don't use these builds as I have moved on to Cyanogen Mod 10. Although I am building these for the public good. Occasionally I may try a build, or once I actually get a second device, I will probably start testing builds. Untill then no I don't use these builds and I have no intention of using these for my daily driver as Cyanogen Mod 10 works better for what I want in a ROM. I currently working on 4.2 on the side but have not gotten anywhere yet. If you want to help me port 4.2 look here. Currently I use Cyanogen Mod 10 built by camcory
This is a 4G device so why do I never see 4G in the status bar, and what is H or H+?
Well T-Mobile wants to sell it as a 4G device but in reality it's a 3.5 device. T-Mobile uses HSPA and HSPA+ which stands for High Speed Packet Access, which is really an evolved 3G standard, but not true 4G but faster than 3G so Android calls it H and H+, because calling HSPA 4G is like calling EDGE 3G. EDGE could be called 3G but people don't as it's not really 3G, it's 2.5G. Another explanation is available here. If you really want HSPA and HSPA+ reported as 4G (and to buy into the marketing propaganda) you can look here. These 4G icons will never be included in this ROM as calling HSPA+ and HSPA 4G is one of my personal pet peeves. You are free to flash them yourself.
I have this really cool user interface mod or app I want to be included can you include it for me?
No. I'm keeping the Cyanogen Mod interface as stock as possible. If you want something please install it on your own device. Don't ask me to include it, as people should be able to customize their own device to their liking I shouldn't force it on them. I believe in you choosing what you have. So I try not to force anything on anyone.
I installed this ROM but where is Google Now, I had it before so where is it?
Google Now is actually part of Jellybean, not Ice Cream Sandwich, this ROM is based off of Ice Cream Sandwich. So the GAPPs files do not have Google Now. One can install Google Now, although it maybe buggy as it is not designed for ICS, for more information look here
I am interested in donating; can I?
I enjoy donations, but i don't need them, I probably will soon once I graduate High School (I'm a senior :good, but right now I will gladly accept donations, but I don't request them and really the most useful donations are in kind, if you have any phones/tablets/computers you want to get rid of, PM me and I'll take them (and pay for shipping if you want). I do have monetary donations setup, if that's all you can do feel free.
There hasn't been an update in forever and a half, whats up?
As there has been a code freeze in CyanogenMod 9 and we already have most everything working in the stable build, I have also moved to a Motorola Atrix, I see no reason to actively work on this rom. If you find a bug you want fixed and you have found a fix, feel free to PM me and I'll work on applying that fix, if there is just a bug you can still PM me and I'll try to locate a fix and apply it.
Thank You to: Jocala (for getting the ball rolling), Arco (for being an awesome Galaxy W developer), Cars1189 (for the 911 Patch and general help), Cyanogenmod (for the ROM Source), Dorregaray (for CameraHAL), Tom3q (for making me want to dev and for being an AWESOME Galaxy Spica developer, he literally rewrote all of the drivers for the Spica), Thomas Hounsell (for writing a page long post on why I'm worse than a idiot in 2008 [that I wish I could find...]), and thank you for using my ROM and reporting issues.

Yes I will try to compile once a day. my computer will then automatically upload it to google drive.
It is different from Jocala's 28 build, as Arco has upgraded the Graphics drivers. And dithering is enabled by default.

Nightly means untested, that it's put out daily, may have bugs, and doesn't have a change log. I actually don't use them, I am currently using CM10 from Camcory, but I felt it was important to have someone building so our phone doesn't completely die out. Really any build should be able to used for daily use, as the device tree has stabilized. I am just the type that likes to update everyday so I always have the latest and greatest.

So....video recording will not work on this ROM I assume? This is the only thing I'm holding out on before I unlock my bootloader and load any 4.2.x ROM
There is an 11 page thread with 200+ replies about this ROM over on Droid-Hive. There's a link to the thread in the OP. The recurring problems I've read about over there are difficulty with GPS lock, lack of screen brightness control, lack of video recording capability, overheating. From what I've read the only one of those issues that seems widespread (rather than some having the problem and others NOT having the problem) is lack of video recording. I'm still running stock ROM 4.1.2 rooted with unlocked bootloader but I'm reading all the time about custom ROMs. Haven't found the one I'll take the plunge on as I need the functions that typically are problematic (Bluetooth, camera, etc) but from what I've read Carbon seems like a solid choice.

I've been running Carbon for about a week now and from personal experience here are the issues I've encountered.
1) No video recording
2) The phone can run hot when used for a little bit
3) Random reboots have increased. I didn't have one until about day 3 in and yesterday I had 3.
4) I would say the data signal is not quite as strong.
5) I can't personally send MMS. I was able to for about a day but after a random reboot, i was unable to get it to work again. But no one else seemed to have that issue.
I personally had no difficulties with GPS or Brightness. There is a new build out released yesterday but for me the brightness was stuck at 100% so I reverted back to the older version until that's fixed. Just thought you guys might want to hear from someone who's been using it as a DD. It's awesome - probably the best ROM out for the HD right now. But of course it has it's flaws.
Been running this since late last week and so far it's the best 4.2 rom I've used. I've not seen a single random reboot, GPS and MMS work fine and battery life is comparable to the other 4.2 roms I've installed. I have seen some sluggishness that required a manual reboot (wiping caches for good measure) to fix. I did noticed the phone running a bit hot a few times, but nothing much worse than other custom roms. Overall it's smooth and responsive with great customization options.

I agree it is probably the best choice available. According to the dev, the update was just a new link...not an actual update. I was going to flash it until I read that. I've had the reboot issue but considering where this phone was a month ago, I am happy.
Also there is a new CM10 over at the Razr site. I am going to give it a try this weekend but it will have to be flawless for me to leave Carbon.

I went back to Nexusque today. After nearly a week with perfect GPS on this rom it just decided it did not want to lock even though it had a fix on 14 birds this morning.
After a reboot the GPS would not work at all. Booting into recovery and wiping cache and dalvik made no difference either. Oh well, next time it's updated I'll give it another look.

I had the same problem. I had to install from a stock based ROM (I used the 4.1.2 stock). Now GPS is working after each reboot (which unfortunately is like 3-4 times a day) I get if you want to wait for an update, but wanted to let you know there is possibly a solution out there if you really want to use this ROM.

Yeah, I'm sure the GPS stock-lock boogie would get it fixed, but I'm kinda past wanting to bother with it. I love this rom, but if things are just going to spontaneously break like that I would just as soon camp on a stock based rom till Hashcode gets the 4.2 kernel done.
the ROM sounds nice, i downloaded it and tried to set it up, but i have a question, i am using the phone overseas, so i am not on Verizon, how can i add APN settings please? and how to select GSM only? thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply, but actually i have xt926, the verizon one, i dont think the GSM version would work with it, the phone was working normal on stock and almost all the other ROMs
if just i can find how to enter the APN settings, it used to be under the access point name
ok i found the APN settings, i entered the APN, the same i used to use all the time on other ROMs but there is no internet, i think it is ROM related, i dont know why i cant post on DH till now, i posted on post, after that i cannot post that is why i am posting here

First, do a factory reset - you shouldn't have any saved networks when you start. The first rule of flashing new roms is clean, clean, clean before you wipe. 80% of all problems I see when flashing are caused by dirty flashes. After you install this ROM, once it's stabilized, then you can think about wiping only dalvik and cache before flashing.

yeah that is what i did, i wiped everything, after i set it up i added my home network, then when at my office i added office network, i still really like the ROM and the wifi thing is not really an issue to me
I've been running XenonHD for the past five days. Mostly, it's excellent -- stable, smooth and fast as claimed. But I'm having persistent problems with signal strength and with data speeds. It's not that I can't GET data, it's that my signal strength is measurably less now than it was with a stock ROM in places where I know how strong my signal should be, I almost never get an indication that I'm connecting at 4G speeds even in places where I used to maintain 4G and my data reception is spotty to the point that web sites and Play Store come back "no signal" now in places where they never did before. From these comparisons I believe I know that the issue ISN'T that my connection is the same but the indicators are different but rather that my connections (reception, data speed, 3G vs 4G) are worse than they were.
I'm running the latest version of XenonHD on my Verizon XT926 and I wiped everything completely before installation. My installation went very smoothly. I don't have video recorder and I can't tether but both of those shortcomings were known before I flashed the ROM. My data signal strength problems are bad enough that, if I can't improve my situation, I may look for another ROM.
Are there settings in the ROM that could improve my data speed and connectivity? Is there a patch or an app that will at least get me back to the level of connection performance that I had on stock? If so, I'll be happy to use XenonHD as my DD.

Installed per instructions and it works great thus far. No FCs yet. Will play around with it more in order to try and break it.
Thanks a bunch, loving it so far.

Try fixing permissions. A few people have reported that this solves the keyboard FC.
I've noticed fc's on most of the 4.3 roms i've tested at least on my phone not enough to be problematic but there. Thanks for giving the rom a shot hopefully the next beta will fix some of these minor glitches
The only issue I can come up with so far is a little bit of screen tearing on the wallpaper when scrolling between home screens. And that's being nitpicky considering most other ROMs I've tried (aside from stock) have done this.
Great ROM, thanks again.

how is battery life and functionality for those using? I'll flash shortly

When is the battery life going to be improved so that they can last more than 3 to 4 hours as well as when is the are y'all going to be louder for the speakerphone and ear piece for calls? I could barely hear anyone with a volume cranked all the way up. This is my experience with all 4.3 roms. I so far have not been able to put up with it and went back to 4.2 because I have awesome battery life with no audio issues. I can't really tell the difference between 4.3 in 4.2 anyway so it's not a big deal, but I would like to have the latest and greatest because I know you are working on it really hard... And so are the others developers. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Yea I too like to keep up to date with the firmwares and with arrrghhhs kernel both call volume and battery life are quite acceptable, but the performance increase isn't as apparent. I mostly use my phone as a game console. Nobody calls me and I barely get texts idky I even have a service provider. I don't use navigation or books or task killers or ANYTHING other than games, and in that aspect, being one of the most demanding processes on both CPU and GPU and memory, there isn't much difference in performance. Plus I keep flashing 4.3 roms and keep having issues with games reading the storage properly so most of the time i end up recovering my 4.2 nandroid.
Keeping up to date is nice, but if it aint broke...

But I'm facing a problem. The internal SD Card writing speed is only about 4MB/S

Will changing the default kernel help solving this?
Thanks
IDK but have you downloaded semaphore manager apk to ramp it up. Default is 512K but you can bump it up to 2048K within the app.
what aint working here?? Im sorry i ask but its important for me as i use this as a daily phone..
I tried this rom out shortly - I love PAC but I needed the extra ram. It was snappy, but it had some pretty big problems. First off I was getting battery drain and CPU maxing out when GPS was on, unlike Pac. Secondly (worst of all, which made me have to flash back), I kept finding the phone completely dead. I kept checking my BatteryStats and everything was more or less OK, so I was confused. Then on a day when I was using my phone more, I caught it rebooting into recovery mode randomly, with the screen on the whole time, so that must have been what was going on. It happened often enough that it was too unreliable for me to continue using. Maybe I'll try the stable when it's out, because it was pretty smooth. Please work on these two issues and you'll have a great rom!
So thanks for the completely useless post give me damn logs. Anyways you guys can consider this device EoL. I have 0 intentions to update sgs1 to 4.4

I never understood all the whining & complaining ... esp. when you consider 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 4.0, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 ... the evolution to "butter" smoothness on these ancient phones has been spectacular. SB & PRB are at the forefront of that. I know people (with other phone types) who don't even get to use anything past Gingerbread (due to stability and lack of official support). Just look at all the roms left for dead on CM's nightly page.
Thanks to the tremendous efforts of PRB, jrongi1, DT, FE, stratosk, and others (inc. their testers) ... it's been an absolute pleasure to continue using this phone. Definitely showing its age spec-wise, but the latest 4.3 builds have been silky silky smooth. SB 4.3 v1.4 was great for me, and I just noticed the new weekly was posted.
So, damn ... just wanted to say "THANK YOU" to PRB for all the work put into maintaining this device. Whether EoL happens or not for SB's Vibrant fate, I'm stoked that at least jrongi1 is willing to carry the flag. PRB, man, seriously, thanks brother for all you do. Ignore the whiners 'cuz that stuff is unfortunately inevitable in this massive XDA expanse.
Rom problem it's effing random and logs don't show much...

I'm wondering if this might be an issue with the kernel or not but I've been getting quite a few soft (dirty) reboots. (I'm using GearKernel 1.0.9v2sv, by the way.) When I perform any action relating to file management (installing/uninstalling APKs, moving apps to SD card, enabling USB mass storage, etc.) it goes into a soft reboot. It might be because of the scheduler (sioplus) GearKernel might be using or that I'm overclocking up to 1200 MHz. I'm asking if this might be an issue with the ROM itself or if it occurs on any other ROM. I'll pull you a logcat when I experiment a bit more ...

I haven't had much luck with GearKernel on Slim. The one freak time I was able to use it (without losing IMEI) was flashing 1.0.8sv right after restoring an SB 7.8 nandroid. It was actually the smoothest kernel I've used at stock speeds (ondemand, sioplus) ... but terribly unstable at 1200-1400 Mhz. When OC'd, the phone would inevitably soft reboot, as you mentioned. Mackay Kernel 0.335 was more stable on SB 7.8 (than GearKernel), and it would allow gaming at 1400 MHz. However, Mackay also would eventually soft reboot at 1200-1400 MHz (tho it lasted a bit longer than GearKernel) ... and then would end up losing IMEI at random times. Even Semaphore would soft reboot at 1200 Live OC, though it would last much longer than either GearKernel of Mackay. Mackay's 1400 MHz is the fastest I've ever experienced on my Vibe ... but the fun only lasts until the next soft reboot. Lol. :crying:
I've tried GearKernel 1.0.9v2sv on 7.8, 8.0, and 4.3 v1.4 ... but I'd lose IMEI/APN/Baseband every fricken time I flashed that thing. No method would ever bring the damn thing back - ie. pull SIM / reboot / reinsert SIM, wipe init.d, and even manually restoring a backed up efs folder.
I've got a smooth 4.3 v1.6 running now, so I'm not even gonna touch it. Semaphore runs very smooth on 1.6. Maybe bring up the issue in Alberto's thread. He may have more insight for you. Good luck.

It soft rebooted because your device can't handle that high of an oc. For example some people can not over clock at all some can hit 1.2ghz a few can hit 1.4-1.7

I don't appreciate the hostile reply. The rom was unstable enough that I just flashed back before I got any logs, and I figured any issue that severe would have already cropped up. I hope I didn't seem ungrateful about your work, just stating the fact, that right now for me it was too unstable to run. I understand that it's a nightly, and I was just testing it out.
Anyway, it's a moot point because it sounds like you're not going to maintain it anyway, so I'm not sure why you'd even be asking for logs.
Fact? Fact is runs fine on my captivate, or as fine as it can on it. Without logs it's just wasting keystrokes. I asked for logs because I'm still maintaining it. I said I won't be for next aosp version. Guys it's impossible to say how a rom/kernel set ups react on each separate device so if crap breaks and you actually want to help the community provide explicit instructions how to reproduce any problem with logs and screenshots if applicable. Else man don't bother.
Cheers

Its already lagfest (yes it is use a newer phone and you will see the difference), doubt a new aosp version will help. And time man. I'm maintaining 3 SGS1 devices, Skyrocket, Hercules, 3 t0lte devices and I spend a lot of time working on mako kernel as its the device I actually own and use as dd.

So, the latest weekly build was a huge improvement over the first. No more soft reboots! (It could be GearKernel's problem. I'm not so sure.) Everything works great and performance is balanced quite nicely. The only issue I have is the back button often doesn't quit a running app but it works with going back a "page". The other capacitive keys are fine, though. I usually resort to using the Home button to quit instead.

Get the semaphore manager from play store as slim uses the kernel it can help with some of the lag. But as prb said the Vibrant is not a speedy device as much as I use my N4 it can seem like forever doing things on the Vibrant.
