Before I installed Cyanogenmod 10.1 on my LGP990 I rooted my phone whith super one click
and had super su installed...
Now my question comes here, I installed Cyanogenmod 10.1 and it already came whit superuser
privileges but still installed super user from the playstore...
So i saw this MMO for android called "Celes Arca" and wanted to play it but noticed that rooted
devices can't play the game, So I went into root explorer to "System/Bin" and deleted the "SU" archive
there. Same on "System/Xbin"...
After that and uninstalling SUPERUSER I was able to play the game, So what I want to know is
if deleting these "SU" files on both "System/Bin" & "System/Xbin" is going to cause problems later
or if they are created by super su or the super user from the playstore...
Anyways I think reflashing the latest nightly update will replace them there again if something
happens no?
Just answered my own question after playing celes arca for a bit and
trying to use some apps that need super user like "Greenifier"...
Turns up that erasing the "SU" files deletes or disables your super user
permissons... So in other words, Unroot's your phone...
So after reflashing the Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly update I got my "SU"
files back and everything works fine and super user permissons are back...
And as suspected now "Celes Arca" does't launch anymore because
the phone is rooted once again... Such a shame that this game is
blocking rooted phones...
Ohh... And if you want to know "Legend Of Master 3" from gamevil also
is an "anti-root" game...
Good luck to other people who may or may not have had this problem!

can i manually update the SU ? i used AndRoot to root my g1 and i was able to "root" it but i noticed that i didn't get SuperUser along with it so i've tried googling several solutions to come up with one where i can download it from the market.
i downloaded from the market and there was an update for it. after pressing okay after a request to update the SU, a toast came up saying it had successfully update it but it didn't update because i could not get permission from my root apps. oddly, i can access root apps but there wasn't a pop up asking for permission..
So in other words everything works just fine? You just want to have the actual application for SuperUser?
You can always try to download the APK and use that instead of your current SU.
I'm unsure if the superuser application is universal, or specific to device, but it's worth a shot.

I have recently purchased the GT-P1000 in Kuwait. It's unlocked but I don't have admin rights to it. Initially, there was no Android Market but I found the fix for that in another post.
My current dilemma now is I can't seem to get apps to install. The downloads will pause themselves and never install the application. I've had this happen to Angry Birds and Robo Defense.
As of now, I have no desire to flash this device. AFAIK, it's 3g voice/data straight out of the box and I don't want to risk losing those features.
Now, the question is, what's the bare minimum I need to do so I can install apps from Android Market and remove unwanted apps?
So I feel like an idiot now. For some reason, I can now get the apps to download and install: Angry Birds, Robo Defense, ES File Explorer, and Dropbox have installed successfully.
I still would like to remove some apps and install some that will need root access. Can someone confirm that if I root the phone that it won't affect the 3G data/voice capabilities?
ROOTING only gives you su (superuser admin) rights to your phone. It doesnt affect your phone or device functions (unless you mess around somewhere). Rooting gives you ability to access files or functions that vendor has it locked out from you. Sort of like jailbreaking the iphone.
Flashing roms is another thing. Some roms have no support to some functions But since you already own an unbranded non carrier GSM and Not CDMA tab. You shouldnt really worry.
all samsung tabs are different...so in lots oof countries they made some differnces in possibilties.
Try out by going to my weblog and after registering to download thje apks you find in the download section.
Best is to download this on another laptop..and copy the apk to the micro sd card in a folder with your name
then withe a file manager clck on the apk to see if they install
not working.....then you need to root your samsung to make it work

thanks for the info. I didn't think rooting would break anything but my paranoia got the best of me.
I rooted my phone yesterday and was able to install and run apps that need SU rights. I'm still havin trouble removing the apps that came with the Tab. Thoughts anyone?
FYI, I can uninstall apps that I've downloaded from the market.

Oho. stock apps cannot be uninstalled. Simplest way to uninstall stock apps is to use Titanium Backup Pro. Before you do that, be sure you backup the app in case you need it again later.
Hey all,
So I recently rooted a Kindle Fire 7" HD. The root itself seems to have been successful, and Superuser shows up in the app list. My main issue is that many apps that require root don't appear to be requesting root. For example, I also installed the Google Play store, and a lot of applications were crashing.
Typically my go-to first solution to such a problem is to fix permissions, so I downloaded ROM Manager and ran the fix permissions routine, but the dialog to approve/deny the superuser escalation never appeared. After a few reboots and futzing around with it I was able to get ES File Explorer, the terminal emulator, and the Busybox Installer to escalate permissions (which is how I got Google Play installed in the first place), but I haven't been successful in getting anything else to escalate to root.
Any suggestions? The tablet isn't mine (!), but when I get my hands on it tomorrow I will probably have the SuperUser app update SU and see if that helps. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
I have a plain vanilla CM10.1 on my HD+. The included CM File Manager runs fine with root privilege. I've also installed a newer version of Jackpal's Term (terminal emulator) which runs fine as well with root.
However, the current version of ES File Manager will not run with root privilege. When I try to activate this, I just get the message "Sorry, test failed." Interestingly, the app is visible in Settings>Superuser as "allowed", but it still fails to acquire root. (I already uninstalled and reinstalled ES File Manager a couple of times with no success.)
Additionally, another app I tried to install (SambaDroid) gets denied root by the CM Superuser app without me even being able to say yes or no.
So something is not working as it should be...?
Have you tried installing supersu from the market?

No. I'm not sure whether installing multiple superuser apps is a good idea... I may end up with a system where the two apps slug it out and
I am left without root access. (OK, I do have backups so that wouldn't be a catastrophe.)
Having said that, I would have tried installing another SU if I could get rid of the CM SU in the first place, but these days this thing is baked into the Settings app and I've found no information as to whether (and if so, how) this can be disabled.
Hints anyone?
Seems I am the only one with that specific problem.
The solution (well, not really but probably better than mucking with the CM superuser app): I've removed ES File Manager and installed X-plore File Manager instead. The interface of the latter is not that great but it seems to do most (or all?) of what ES can do (plus it does open password-protected RAR files, a big plus for me). And of course it supports root...
Still I do not understand why ES would not work with the CM superuser but there you go.
Hey,
TL;DR KINGROOT deleted vital apps and components on Vivo XL, what do I do?
So I wanted to root my Vivo XL so I could delete bloatware.
Used KINGROOT, which worked. It said it didn't work, rebooted my phone and I had root. I used KINGROOT to delete most Google apps plus Opera browser, nothing vital. It actually froze them and I proceeded to delete them with Link2SD.
I reboot my phone and it's slow idk why I'm assuming it's the Chinese KINGROOT doing shady things to my phone. I then reboot my phone several minutes later after doing idk what and I'm greeted with a bug that carefree launcher is experiencing an error.
I freak out a little then use the task switch button, see that I had Play Store open, switch to it and install nova launcher.
All seems good but all of a sudden many apps don't work. Puffin, Gmail, Waze all crash on opening. I look with Link2SD and I realize apps that came with the phone are missing.
I try to switch to Super SU using several methods, none worked and I am not rooted now.
I believe I can root again using KINGROOT. But before I try that again I wanted to ask you folks: what should I do?
Forgot to mention, I cannot install apk files, I cannot uninstall apps, the apps section in settings isn't functioning properly. I can only install and delete through the Play Store
flash it
