[Q] Ta Partition and relocking Bootloaders? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay Guys i know its asked all around but i did not have a clarity on this subject..so pls help me..
1.i backed up my ta partion with backup ta
2.followed guide to unlock bootloader
3.i recieved all the keys to my email.
4.if i unlock..i will lose drm keys but i can flash custom kernels.
5.now my question is..after flashing custom kernel on stock firmware..if i restored my ta partion..will my bootloader be in lock state or unlock state? and if this bootloader is locked..how to flash an updated kernel or some other stuff?
ps: is it possible to flash stock fw using the ftf files on custom kernel by excluding stock kernel from flash list?

As long as the kernel is stock based, yes. You can flash it.
And yes, you can exclude the kernel while flashing a FTF file.

After you restored TA your bootloader will be locked, and your drm keys restored.
After your bootloader is locked again your phone will only accept stock kernel , so if you restore drm while on custom kernel your phone won't boot, and you will first have to flash a stock kernel/Rom using flashtool.
And yes, using flashtool you can flash stock firmware while excluding kernel.

Xperia z1 custom rom, and camera work?

Hi, I want to get rom RomAur v3.3 , so I do like in "HOW TO INSTALL" but when I backup TA after unlocking bootloader I can't install doom kernel, but when I backup Ta after install kernel get black screen. So when I have to backup TA?
Greetings
To late, you backup ta before you unlock the bootloader. Now you have permanently broken your camera.

Sorry for my bad english - I didnt write it well enough. I mean I do Backup TA before unlock bootloader, and it works. When I get black screen and brick, I flash orginal rom and camera works. But I don't know when I should backup ta - after install custom rom or kernel?
You only need one backup, the one you made before unlocking the bootloader,.
If you mean when do you restore it, then you don't if you want to use the custom kernel as restoring the backup will relock your bootloader and mean your device wont boot if you have a custom kernel installed

You backup before anything, so before unlocking. And you only unlock if you want to install a custom rom (AOSP or so) or kernel. You don't need to for flashing the FTF files or roms based on those. You restore if you want to actually use the camera, but then you can not install custom (AOSP or so) roms or kernels anymore.
"1 - Installed oficial firmware 14.1.G.1.534
2 - Root your device KingoApp root
3 - Backup TA
4 - Unlock bootloader - http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
At the moment, unlocking the Xperia Z1 boot loader will stop the camera functionality
5 - Copy rom to ext sdcard
6 - Install DooMLoRD kernel to get CWM recovery
7 - Enter to recovery
8 - Make sure to do a Wipe data/factory reset , Wipe cache / dalvik cache before installing ROM
9 - Install rom
10 - Reboot system"
When I do all these things, I need just to restore backup? And I'll have RomAur v3.3 and camera working?
No, firstly there is no need to unlock the bootloader to install that rom, and secondly unlocking the bootloader breaks the camera

yes i did. it was successful. i just got problems when fast boot flashing boot.img, idk what happened -_- huhu really want my sp back
In recovery (if you can enter that) perform a wipe /system and flash again This should fix most bootup issues.

[Q] 4.4 Updating help from rooted 4.3

Hey, so I'm on 4.3 10.4.B.0.569 and there is the 4.4 Kitkat update available (10.5.A.0.2300). It's a C6603 on Three UK (Cust num. 1270-6263). It is rooted via a Bootloader Unlock and has a CWM Based Custom Recovery installed. I cannot update via OTA since the stock recovery is gone, how do I flash back the stock recovery so I can do the OTA? I know it may be as simple as 'Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img' but I don't have any IMG for it and can't find any. Any help? I don't want to factory reset and lose data, it'd be an effort to restore.
The Z doesn't have a stock recovery or even a recovery partition.
To update via OTA, you need to relock your bootloader. Make sure you flash a stock kernel before doing so.

Ah ok, well what's the best way to go from 4.3 Unlocked BL Rooted to 4.4 stock without losing data?
Probably just flash an FTF with Flashtool (choose one from the general section) without wiping data, then flash the latest advanced stock kernel and root again.

[Q] How do I Lock my bootloader again and go back to stock sony firmware? :(

So im currently rooted running cm11. I really dont like it and want to go back to stock. When I unlocked my bootloader I saved my TA partition rar file which I have stored on my pc. I am quite familiar using flashtool but not that much.
In other words I want to:
1) Lock my bootloader
2) Go back to stock sony firmware
Please help me thanks
p.s if it's worth staying rooted what rom should I install? cm11 is kinda rubbish...
Flashtool will relock your boot loader and reset to stock
My flashtools not display the button "relock" after clicking "BLU", how to proceed?
Here's my solution:
Relock your TA with TA Backup from the previously saved zip file. It doesn't matter what system you use under the procedure, but remember. If you use CM11 (or any non-stock based system) do not try to power on your phone before you flash the stock firmware with Flashtool. Otherwise you can soft brick the device, or if you lucky, you will get only bootloop. And two more thing: Before you start, charge your phone's battery to minimum 50 percent, and before you really start the backup, test it with "Restore dry-run" option. If it sucsess, you can do the trick. But if it fail, re-flash a stock KitKat based ROM, root it, and try this again. If it fails again, maybe your backup file is corrupted.
This method worked on my old SL, and on my Z too, so I hope it will be help to you too.

You don't need to relock bootloader to flash a stock based custom ROM. You can flash rajeevs purexz rom via recovery after wiping system and data partitions.
Locked bootloader is only needed for some Sony stuff like Bravia engine and stock Sony screen mirroring.

[Q] Questions before enter the UBL world

Hello people.
I've passed this whole week seeing posts about unlock bootloader, and i want to put some Lollipop ROMs in my smartphone. :fingers-crossed:
But i've some questions that i don't have found the answers.
- The first is: Do i need to be in the stock firmware to unlock the bootloader? Actually i'm with LBL, and Slimkat ROM, but i have the stock FTF in my archives.
- The 2nd: I have made an backup of TA Partition, but if i want to relock my bootloader again, what steps i need to do? Relock -> Flash Stock FTF -> Restore the TA partition backup or simple Restore the TA partition then flash stock FTF?
- The 3rd: The Tangerine Kernel, Willians Kernel and DooMLorD Kernel are really safe to use? I've heard rumours about modded Kernels can overclock too much your processor and make it explode.
Well, i think is only these three really. And thanks advance to all you guys that answer my questions.

Afaik you don't have to, but i would recommend it.
2nd
You have to be on stock to relock bootloader. Custom Rom won't boot anymore when your BL is locked again.
3rd
You can deactive overclock on costum kernel. Then nothing can happen

Thanks.
About the 2nd question. Whats the procedure i would make to come back to full stock if i'm in an UBL ROM?
Flash Stock FTF, then Relock, then restore TA partition?

to flash what kernel ?
you can flash a custom kernel via cwm for sure
but every ROM you flash will have a stock kernel
when you UBL you can install twrp recovery via installing rashr app then from the app install twrp.img
if that answer didn't help ....make your question more clear
Tangerine Kernel for example... the dev that make it keep updating it, and if i want to flash the new version of the kernel, do i need to flash it via flashtool or cwm/twrp/philz?
And about ROMs that have the kernel.elf inside the zip package?

no ...just flash it through the cwm/twrp/philz
and if you want to flash kernel.elf again just flash it using fastboot mode
but if you want to stay on stock kernel just flash the ROM ...nothing else
