Unrooting HTC One - Sprint HTC One (M7)

http://www.wikihow.com/Unroot-Android
Hey guys, I've bought a rooted HTC One Sprint, and I've also installed BadBoyz Rom(4.3) for it, now I want to sell my phone and before that I want to unroot it, well the above link unroot my phone? And even if I do it will it have any effect on my ROM or phone? The phone is quite laggy, doesn't feel like a quadcore processor, choppy framerates in Real Racing 3 :/

Yeah, but there's a difference between unrooting and returning to stock. I don't think I need to repeat the returning to stock guide or the myriad answers to the question how to return to stock in this forum.

[Q] Making a Game-Machine out of my Wildfire???

Hey first of all, a good day
Second, I'm German so please forgive me my bad english sometimes
Now my question:
Is there a possibillity to make my Wildfire so fast that I can play games like Angry Birds or Fruit Ninja (the graphical better games) on my Wildfire.
Also without a 3D-accelerator in my phone.
Actually i have Android 2.2.1 and i also read the terrible thread about the unrooting Froyo a minute ago.
So, if you can help me please say a word. And if you need other Details, i'll give them to you.
Greedz from subersauger and thx.
As of now, theres nothing you can do. When rooted, overclocking and Custom AOSP based ROM's give better performance.
If gaming was your priority, the wildfire is probably not the best choice you could have made when buying your phone.
To play smooth with these games, you need overclock and a custom ROM. Currently some of us are working to install OpenGL libraries in our WF, wich are supposed to make the phone faster and more responsive, expecially with games BUT - you really need root and then a custom ROM first! So, if you already updated to official Froyo you won't be able to root... at the moment. Yeah, in theory it could be possible, but there are some risks to brick your phone. Personally, I would not risk
Oh, and welcome to xda
Okay I am surprised about how fast I get an answer here at this forum, respect.
And I'm glad about it
I asked in different german forums about it and get no reply...
Back to the topic,
I not bought my phone to play games, but it would be nice in boring times to have nice game with me, without carry my psp all the time with me
It's so frustrating with the new OS, it's like psp, I first upgraded and than i had to wait half a year to downgrade her xD
Hopefully it will be not the same by my wildfire
And don't think that I downgrade my phone, cause downgrading my psp were the most terrible 10 minutes in my life xD
But mayby there is nearly a method to install a custom ROM without downgrading.
Or a safe downgrade way.
Downgrade doesnt work yet. You can get rid of the 2.2.1 Update and get back to 2.1, but, there are two negatives to this:
* It's a potentially risky process that can brick your wildfire
* Even if it is successful, the HBOOT remains updated to the newer version, so, rooting still wont work, even though you are at Android 2.1
So, I would suggest waiting for an update from Unrevoked.
Hmm Damn, it's alltime the same, you're wishing for an update and than if have it you wish to get a custom Software which is working a thausend times better. But you can't get it.
Whatever, thanks for the fast reply's and good answers.
I'll waiting for some good news.
Someone's working on OpenGL? Sorry but I'm noob. So openGL is something that you can just install?
wildpuzzle CFW very good to have you can overclock your cpu and have better performance, but not that much as galaxy S and desir
go to market and search for "Emulator ROMs" lot of old games "NES, SNES, GBR, PSX, MD"
old school is cool

IS Root a possibility or ????

Ok so Im no genius like most of u are in here, but this is my 3rd HTC device and the only one which doesnt have root or custom roms so far. I just wanted to ask if you guys believe that there will be root for s-off or custom roms any sooner or is it wort hit just to buy an Atrix?? I need your opinion, please and thank you?
P.S: If any of you don't feel like answering or sharing your opinion & wanna be a smart-bottom by directing me to a link or by asking me to google it my humble request is to keep ur 0.2cents to yourself & learn to be humble and caring. Thanks.
yes. and if you had read through threads about root then you would already know that s-off IS devices have been rooted some time ago. custom roms are around but very few and not very good. the problem is getting s-off for root available for for those of us who dont have s-off by default or have access to an xtc clip to s-off our IS's.
p.s. nothings impossible on xda dev ^o^
p.p.s. if you dont need the power then considering IS gingerbread update is flowing out now id say its more than enough. unless ofcourse your given an awsome deal on the atrix
Remember that Incredible 2 is out now and is amajor phone on Verizon. This will be a popular phone and I have faith that XDA members here will find a way to put S-Off.
I sure hope someone takes it upon themselves to get the Incredible 2/S off the ground. I love the phone, solid as a rock, and fast, but I'd really like to eventually be able to over/undervolt, flash minus-bloatware roms, etc.

Upgrade to Gingerbread and run Gingerbreak. There you go.. root!!
I used SOC-1.9.x with factory 2.2.1 and it worked out. But the Superuser kept crashing while root permissions were being asked by apps. Found a workaround: cleaning the Superuser data each time I wanted to run an app.. but that's lame.
I'm in the same boat as the op... will be upgrading in the next month and with BELL... so the only 2 phones im looking are the incredible or the atrix...
i like htc and if i get the IS, this will be my 3rd htc with sleak UI and stable without too much bloatware and standard hardware ( by today's std ) , no root as of yet.
vs the atrix top of the line hardware and futureproof ( well at least for the next yr before new lines of multicores phones) but major bloatware which cannot be uninstalled, locked bootloader so cant get rid of those bloatwares.. apparently some ppl experiencing lags (something which i would never believe until i saw some videos) with the live wallpaper...
At this point, i would tend to get the IS but if both can be flashed with a custom rom ( ie. without motoblur **** ), i would jump on the atrix

are you referring to rooting the atrix?
the biggest problem we will find is that although the device is popular, it's a midrange android device, and many of the developers are not picking it up to work on it. after all when there are high end devices around the corner, why would they?

Right. There's a few problems:
1) Lots are holding out on Sensation
2) IS is a midrange device making it only semipopular. HTC has a solid lineup, but this divides forces. If you take Samsung where they had the SGS 1 and SGS2 this year, that's basically their main lineup. Expect concentrated development, but I don't know what to expect here.
3) Not sure for me whether I should pick up an IS or wait for Sensation. I'd have to wait for an 850/1900 sensation and nothing's even announced yet... so given that it's usually a minimal 3 months delay, I won't be getting this phone til close to Christmas I bet.... sigh.
Basically we're in no mans land.

If your phone is S-On, the Gingerbreak don't give you ROOT, even if you upgraded to the official 2.3 Ginderbread.
To get S-Off you need a XTC-Clips.
thanks for all your opinions fellas! for the sights and sound feels like IS didn't appeal alot to the devs so Im guessing there wont be any development on IS, so it seems wise to say good bye to IS until a new HTC device comes out & perhaps its time to say hello to the Atrix as it's got custom rom and it was rooted before it even came out. But Thanks anyways,...Imma put up my phone for sale, Im in Toronto, Canada If any one interested please PM me. Thanks.

[Q] Two critical questions from a current Samsung user excited about the One...

My only experience with Android thus far has been with the Samsung Galaxy S and S2. I am extremely excited about the One, and I have two important questions that I have not been able to gain clarity on that are factoring into some decisions. I appreciate any owners of the One -- and any past or current HTC owners in general -- that can give me insight.
1. My GS2 has 16GB internal storage, and I have a 16GB external SD card. Both storage spaces are pretty much maxed out, with about 30 apps and pictures, video and music. My question is: What is the storage "footprint" of the base rom and apps of the One? How much space is available once basic rom/apps are installed? This will factor into my decision whether to go with the 32GB or 64 GB version (I'm with AT&T).
2. I've always been able to root and customize my Samsung phones fairly easily. Customs roms, themes, kernels, nandroid backups, titanium backups, etc., have always been smooth and simple. Is it the same experience on HTC and the One? I've been doing a lot of reading on the forums and online over the last few weeks, and it seems a bit more complicated. (I'm still not clear as to what can and cannot be done without S-OFF, for example.) As I'm on AT&T and would be getting an AT&T One, I'm wondering how easily this phone will be rooted. Does it need to go through HTCDev site? Are AT&T phones locked out of this process? If yes, is there typically a way around this? I really want the flexibility of custom roms/kernels, which have made an immense difference in my past experience with Samsung phones. Any and all clarity on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help!

1. 26GB is available
2. I will let someone else answer this more accurately as I have zero experience with HTC devices.
I can tell u this much...I've owned the s2 and s3...I tried the one x last year when it came out and went back to the s3 because of the multitasking issues and the bootloader being locked...but I saw the one and fell in love...so I sold my s3 and bought a one x to "experiment" with so to speak...I will admit they are both very different phones the HTC vs samsungs...with the Samsung it was stupidly easy to go flash crazy right from the phone with roms and kernels etc...the HTC I noticed is a different story...things (at least on the att version) are more locked down...now mind u I myself am still learning how to work the developmental side of Htc but with the proper tutorials I've managed to root/unlock the bootloader and soff the one x.....but it will take time to learn one how to do this with the HTC one, but there are some programs that developers write that make it more noob proof...but short answer is no the HTC in my opinion is not as easy to flash about like the Samsung s series phone from my experience...
Plus from what I saw there are more Rom/kernel options for the Samsung...but the few I've tried on my one x are good solid roms...I'm using viper on my one x and I love it...really hope they make a Rom for the one

Hi mate it is very easy to root I've got htc one rooting was a easy but not as easy as galaxy s3 there's a tool on xda to root there's some nice roms already
Yeah as previousl stated there is around 26-27GB storage space. Personally, I found this easier than my Galaxy S2 to root, but that may have been because I was new to Android at the time and my computer always hated Odin... You'd have to unlock bootloader with HTC-Dev and void your warranty unless S-Off can be gained. With S-ON, you can still flash roms and everything, so it's no issue. It isn't like the Tegra HTC One X where the boot.img has to be flashed in fastboot after flashing the rom.
I had the S3 before and must say that was a bit easier to root than having to use the official HTCdev.com method. And it could be cleanly unrooted, which it not possible with the One (can only be re-locked). But at least the latter makes it more or less impossible to hard brick your One. When considering buying the AT&T version, keep an eye on the discussion whether it is possible to S-On the device at all: https://twitter.com/ste1164/status/321554709892694016
Being currently on renovate ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2202696) I am quite content already, though custom ROMs are still fresh at the moment. CyanogenMod however will still take awhile to be released.
Ok so that's one thing tha confuses me with the bootloader being locked...now if it's locked we can still root and flash roms? But not kernels? Or am I wrong?

1. I figure after the att bloat is added it'll have a little over 25gb of space on the 32.
2. I have very rarely been an early adopter of handsets. Either do to contracts or availability I usually buy a few months after release. If there's no root ability at that time I wait and use the phone till it happens, it always happens. This gives me time to see it there are any defects and need to swap it out. With the popularity of the One I'd surprised if it took till June to get s-off.
This is the 1st time I've preordered.

Saw on droid life that a little over 8 gigs was used by sense 5 and the stock firmware, about 8.5 actually so there should be a little over 23 gigs usable on the 32

Having owned several HTC and Samsung devices, I can say without fail that on AT&T, the Samsung devices are easier to root and customize. I fully expect this trend to continue with the One & S4.

If your bootloader is locked, you can't flash anything. If you do wish to flash stuff, you have to unlock your bootloader using the official htc website (however, do check your phone on issues before doing that because unlocking MIGHT void your warranty).
Even if you've unlocked your bootloader, you still can't do a lot: you first have to flash a custom recovery using fastboot. After you've done that you are good to go.
However!! Boot images can't be flashed using recovery, those have to be done using fastboot. For me this is the only downside of not having s-off. S-off may come however, most snapdragon devices got it (not official ofcourse ) also, I've heard people say that there is a way to flash boot images without the need of a computer on the HTC One.. not sure if this is true though

About 25GB
Very very easy to do. HTC unlock, flash custom recovery, flash supersu, flash boot.img, flash custom rom. Done.
If you need a bit of help with this there is a thread dedicated to this in the development section.
We might have a problem since AT&T won't allow the bootloader to be unlocked through HTC Dev. But I'd imagine someone would get the bootloader unlocked within a month or two.

Should i root my HTC One ?

Hi all. I rooted my Sony Xperia Neo because he needed it, better speed, higher clock speed, everything better.
Then i bought HTC One X. After 6 months i rooted that to. Much better battery, more speed, smoother, better roms over all.
I am between rock and a hard place with the HTC One. Should i root it? What are the benefits? It's fun i know, but will the battery last so much longer? It has speed. It's smooth.
Please help make this decision easier :silly:
Thanks
I honestly don't think there's any real need to root it unless either you find bad performance in some areas or you want access to root apps.
Much like you, I've rooted previous devices because they needed that extra boost so I'd flash certain ROMs and/or kernels to solve those problems.
I didn't root my One for about a month because I wanted to see how it performed and it needed no boost whatsoever. I did end up rooting it though purely so I've got access to root apps which I'd previously used and got so used to them.
So my advice would be to leave it unrooted for now so you have time to really test the phone out and then see if you feel it needs any improvements at all
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
if youre satisfied with your phone as it is, i wouldnt root it just yet. unless youre bored or something and just want to mess around. or wait until you have a need to root it and then just do it.
I would agree with what has been said above by my fellow XDA'ers. I haven't rooted my One and it's going on 2 weeks now since i bought it. I honestly don't feel like i need any more CPU/GPU performance out of the device. I managed to get an AnTuTu score of 26511 on a completely untouched stock setup. All the apps and games that i've tested - and i've bought a handful of the most graphically demanding ones, like GTA Vice City, Modern Combat 4, etc - have showed no slowdowns or lags whatsoever. It's like having a Snapdragon 800 device at the moment - there are no apps/games right now that actually require its power. All that you can find on the Google Play store runs perfectly on a Snapdragon 600-powered device. Maybe by the end of this year or early 2014, if newer apps/games prove a bit laggy on the stock ROM, then i would consider rooting. By the way, i would highly recommend ARHD ROM from all the feedback that i've read. I downloaded his ROM already, but haven't made up my mind when to install it.
Battery life
Is the battery life better on the rooted htc one?
That's the biggest concern i have because im not too impressed with the battery performance on the stock phone.
I'm thinking about putting the latest cyanogenmod version on my one but not sure if i want to go through with it. I've had mine for couple days now.

[Q] Switching phones

Hello xda,
I have a Galaxy S i9000, have had it for 2 years and played around with roms and modding; I am very familiar with this kind of stuff.
I am switching to a new phone soon, and it will definitely be an HTC phone, either a One or a One M8.
I originally thought of getting the 2013 One to save some money, but I was wondering if the performance is good on custom roms like cm11, pa 4.2 etc. (sorry if it is a really obvious question to you ppl, I have a phone with a single core 1ghz processor and cm11 is sooo laggy)
Another question, if i get the HTC one 2013, I will definitely get S Off with revone on it. can anyone tell me if there is a command to revert it back to S On after getting S off?
Cheers and thanks,
George
Edit: Please don't say anything about my Nexus 5, it is my 'hacking' device, where I do random $%#@ to it. I dont use it for daily use, only for rom testing etc etc. I know its weird, but I want an HTC for my daily driver

Okay I am not sure that htc one can be reverted to s-on back but i saw somewhere that there are modded bootloaders and they read s-on and locked even if you are s-off and have a unlocked bootloader.
