Hey guys,
I live in a border city in Canada, and to avoid roaming charges whenever it automatically switches to AT&T, I have manually selected Telus.
However, my particular building has very poor reception, and every time I lose my signal, the network operation selection menu always pops up and interrupts what I am doing, and is a huge annoyance.
Is there anyway to stop the menu from popping up?
Thanks.

Might sound strange but assuming your using a Telus SIM try manually registering on AT&T. You should get an error that your SIM is not supported or something similar and then register on Telus after that error. And that should resolve it.

The issue I'm having is that there are dead areas in my apartment...and it picks up other carriers. Then the list of the network operators always pops up randomly, and prompts me to choose something. I am fine with it losing signal, and fine with it connecting to telus whenever it can, I just want that list to stop popping up randomly. Also, AT&T has a roaming thing with Telus, so I have to manually connect to Telus to prevent it from switching to AT&T.
It's just that darned list that keeps prompting to select a network and interrupts everything im doing.

I've had the same issue randomly with my last three phones. I understand your frustration with the pop-up. Trying to register on the wrong network (with roaming disabled) usually worked for me. Sometimes I would also power down and remove the SIM wipe the contacts and reinsert but usually the first thing worked, at least for a while.

I bought an AT&T Galaxy Tab. I confirmed when I received it, data worked, and then discontinued my service.
In the meantime I flashed to Overcome ROM, flashed to JPD to enable phone calls, brought it to Canada and used it there with a Canadian GSM provider, and now am trying to reconnect my AT&T service.
I activated my AT&T service about an hour ago, and everything seemed to be fine. I received the welcome to AT&T text message. However, it just won't connect to any data of any sort.
I've reflashed the modem to JPA, which I've seen people say works on AT&T, without any change.
I've installed the AT&T data usage widget, and it says "No Network Available or SIM could not be verified".
My APN settings by default were set with everything normal except for an empty password compared to what I found online. I tried setting a password and no effect.
Under Settings => About device => Status it shows Mobile network state as either Disconnected or Connecting.
Settings => Wireless and network => Mobile networks => Use packet data is unchecked, and whenever I try and change it, it will change to "Turning on..." and then after a few seconds it will change back to unchecked.
All of the Samsung related data connection toggles like on the pull-down windowshade or on the long press of power act like they're changing something instantly, but have no effect.
Anyone have any ideas on what's gone wrong here?
Someone stated earlier that their tab was kicked off of the network as well. I would try a series of restarts to see if the problem persists. If it does, try contacting at&t directly.

I've restarted it about a million times in the past hour. I'll give contacting AT&T a try, hopefully it won't come up that I'm missing something from the stock ROM.
Called AT&T, they knew absolutely nothing, and couldn't help at all.
I suppose I'll try flashing a few more modems, including stock, and then I suppose I might have to reflash to completely stock if that doesn't fix it.
Try the sim card in another phone. They might not have apportioned it correctly.
Any modem will get you at least voice and EDGE, so don't worry about that now.
I have wap.cingular apn for a voice and data plan.

Hmm I'll see if I can dig something up. However, I'm a little unclear on what will happen because this is the $15 AT&T Tablet data plan, and at best I might be able to scrounge up a phone.
The sim card automatically entered wap.cingular apn on my tablet plan as well.
I was soo excited when I found this thread. This is clearly my situation exactly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1083173.html
I was using the voice APN on a data plan. I deleted all the old APNs, created a new one that is just Broadband/Broadband for name/APN. Rebooted.
Hit connect, and.....it's still screwed up. Now it flickers back and forth on the status page between Connecting and Connected, and the status bar up top reflects the same - I'll see the H with arrows for a half second, and then it'll disappear again.
On the Mobile networks page, Use packet data now similarly flickers between checked on its own and unchecked and gray.
Okay, no idea why, but everything works now.
After Broadband failed to work, I tried changing it to APN Broadband. That didn't work either, so I changed it back to Broadband. Things then started semi-working in that the connection was still flickering on and off, but when it was on, data was actually being transferred.
I rebooted, and now it's fully working. Hope it stays that way. Seems to shift back and forth between H and 3G a lot considering I'm in the middle of a city with full bars not moving, but other than that, all seems well.
It would have been good to know about 1,000 word ago you only have the $15 broadband sim!
Apn is: ATT BROADBAND, and nothing else.

Hmm I have it set as Broadband, not ATT BROADBAND, and it's working for now so I ain't touch it.
Are people able to activate an AT&T Galaxy Tab on anything but the broadband sims?
Yes, I have voice and 3g data by ising a sim from my old android phone.
I'm not rooted, and have stock ROM. It's a SIM-Free HTC One. Connected to EE network in UK.
I've got a fairly new issue that I just noticed in the last week. My HTC One is my second phone so I don't use it as much, but I'm at a point where I want to get rid of it due to the following issues:
I can't make calls, it would sometimes connect but i can't hear anything. This doesn't seem to be a network issue as a user with an iPhone5 seems unaffected.
I can connect to my 5Ghz WiFi network, but not the 2.4Ghz one, it just saves the password but won't connect. I've also noticed if i disconnect from the 5Ghz network, restart phone, i can make calls and hear the other side.
Using Data network, it doesn't seem to want to load anything, it shows 5 bars HSDPA and either goes incredibly slowly or just doesn't load at all.
General performance issues, everything would become incredibly slow, stuttery and incredibly annoying to use. yesterday the device crashed and restarted.
Any ideas what I should do? Try a full reset (ugh...) or is the device faulty in some way and I should contact HTC Support?
go to the dialer and type
*#*#4636#*#*
choose phone info, scroll down to the only dropdown box and select the correct setting for your provider ( wcdma preferred if you don't have a 4G contract)
and then back button about 4 times and try it again
It seems to be the way it should be: GSM/WCDMA/LTE Auto. I was in France a week ago and it had serious issues roaming and data roaming, i had to change it to GSM/WCDMA auto or WCDMA only to make it work. and now back in UK, i set it to the same setting it used to be before I left.
On a side note, I have realised that EE is having data network issues in my area. I tried the SIM in another Galaxy S3 and it had difficulties loading websites, but, it COULD make calls without problems.
Also, no crashes as of today on the One, I still can't connect to my 2.4Ghz wifi router. Could the fact that I was using 5Ghz somehow messed something up inside the One?
I've seen a number of threads where people post about their device dropping network data connectivity, and needing a reboot to solve it.
My issue is a bit different. Occasionally (I've noticed it 3-4 times today) when I go to send a text (SMS) or to use a data enabled service like Hangouts, that my phone shows no bars at all.. not even just no data, but the bars are grey and there's a red x. I wait about 15 seconds and it reconnects, then another 10 seconds later, the data is live again.
Phone is a private sale and under 1 month old, and all the Stamina functions are off.. I do see that the "Queue background Data" is turned on, but I don't think this should effect, no?
Not sure what digits I should be looking at to know if this might be a hardware vs software issue.. build is listed as .93
Im no stranger to unlocking and flashing, but I've kept this stock cuz it's tight and I adore the battery life.
Suggestions?

check in settings in network and set your network to the one you use , like gm/wcdma /lte , maybe your phone is strugling to find 3g or 4g , try it , who knows it might solve the issue , ty
Been about a month since I posted, and I'm still experiencing this issue. I often thumb my phone on and it's not connected. I don't really mind waiting for the 30 seconds or so that it takes to jump back on the network, but it often means I miss calls, and since it's my business phone, it kinda bums me out to suddenly get a VM notification of a missed call even though it never rang.
Is there some sort of utility that I can use to monitor the network activity to see how frequently it drops, and for how long? I've looked into ones on Play but they don't seem to have a history, just something that shows what data up and down is currently being reported.
Sadly the only Sony store in my city (and I think the country - Canada) has recently closed for good, so I'm not sure how to go about warranty repairs...

I don't have a solution, but I can tell you that you're not alone. I've been experienced the same thing on my Z3C. I sometimes wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that the MVNO I use doesn't support 4G LTE.

Interesting.. Your issue isn't just data, but a complete network disconnection? Im with Fido which is an MVNO under Rogers, but I thought they supported LTE. The issue also persists even on wifi

Yes, it seems to be a complete loss of the mobile connection. When I wake the phone I see gray bars and a red X on the signal strength indicator. Within seconds the phone re-acquires and the indicator goes to 2 or 3 bars. I have also seen it happen with wifi active. The frustrating part is that it doesn't seem to do it often enough to troubleshoot. I'll notice the problem maybe a couple of times a month and there's nothing obviously different about my usage patterns in those instances.
Mine does it at least a dozen times a day. I can only assume this as I frequently miss calls and at least 3-4 times a day I see it happen. =(
Same Problem
Randomly I have no connection at all but after a few seconds everything wents back to normal. Did not have this problem with T-mobile in Germany but with with O2 I have. With T-mobile I had LTE but with O2 I don't, so I guess that's the reason.
Interesting... I've disabled LTE and now have it on 3g/GSM. We'll see how it works moving forward, and I'll post again in a week. Stay tuned.
Service Providers
In the mobile network settings one can change the service provider manually. With LTE enabled my provider has three entries: LTE, 3G and 2G. Connecting two LTE fails, because my provider blocked it in my plan. Having LTE enabled, it often tries to connect to LTE I assume. I switched off LTE and set the provider manually to 3G. Maybe that helps. We'll see.

Interesting.. I have LTE as part of my network and plan... But once I made changes to the settings as I indicated, I no longer receive the network drops I originally experienced.. I might just be missing the alerts, but it seems fixed... #crossedfingers
Wondering if anyone can help me out. I've already spent hours on the phone with tmobile and they can't seem to solve it.
I've had this problem ongoing since getting this phone. Basically I get no data roaming. Places Ive tried: Canada (several cities in BC as well as Quebec and Ontario), UAE, Bahamas. I spend a lot of time in Canada so its a real issue. Things I have tried:
- Factory reset
- Upgrade to 5.1.1 using Odin.
- Try sim card in friend's phone (4G works no problem in Canada)
- A bunch of other stuff I don't remember
Symptoms:
- About 50% of the time the phone works for calls and text
- The rest of the time it says "emergancy calls only". Restarting the phone immediately restores ability to make calls/send text. This happens regardless of signal strength.
- Data connection never works. Only time I got 4G was the very first time I entered canada with this phone. . Restarting the phone would make it connect to 4G for about 1-2 minutes before it would lose data connection. Restarting the phone would bring it back. After about half a day the phone completely lost ability to make data connection and has never been able to get data connection internationally since then.
- Sometimes I get this message: "you have lost data connectivity because you left your home network with data roaming turned off". Data roaming is definitely turned on. I've enabled in settings and also via #RON# short code.

This sounds like a config issue to me. the random drops to emergency seems to be issues with roaming not being set up right. It sounds like your APNs are not setup correctly or something. have you gotten any info from t-mobile on Roaming APNs? i'm not sure if it needs to be adjusted for roaming or not.

Yeh thats what it seemed like to me as well but I went over the APN settings with them on several occasions. I also looked them up online. Everything seems correct. The only thing they had me change was APN roaming protocol from IPv6 to IPv4/IPv6.
Dial *#*#4636#*#* (on stock dialer), in Device Information try to change network settings to LTE/WCDMA.
What are your APN settings? Provide info about all fields.
Did u ever solve this issue ? I'm having the same problem...
I've been banging my head against the wall with this issue for a while now. I have contacted both Samsung and Verizon but so far no luck in resolving the issue. I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this.
My S21 Ultra on Verizon is constantly switching between LTE and LTE+. This wouldn't be an issue were it not for the fact that apparently a great deal of the time it actually has no connection at all. This manifests itself with:
1) Text messages that fail to send, or indicate they failed to send when they actually were sent.
2) Incoming calls going directly to voicemail.
3) Outgoing calls that can't be placed unless I toggle Airplane Mode on and then off. (Though as it turns out, sometimes the failed attempts do ring on the recipients phone.)
At some of these times I may see a message along the lines of "Sim Card Not Present." And yes--the SIM card has already been replaced.
3) isn't much of an issue, as I have complete control over that. But 1) and 2) are both really annoying.
I made a screen capture video for a Verizon tech who is trying to help. In 40 seconds my phone switched between LTE and LTE+ six times.
A work-around that seems to be helping is using the "Samsung Band Selection" app to pick a network. I've done that all day today and have not had issues, though I also have not traveled anywhere. I fear this is not a great solution, though, as I don't think I'll be able to use it when moving around.
Is anyone else having experiences like these with the S21 Ultra? If so, are you also on Verizon?
Thanks!

I was having the same issues. I was also seeing the device lose all network connection in an area with strong 4G. Verizon sent me a new s21u. That did not help. What I have been reading is that it has to do with 5G settings. Having a 5G sim card installed, the device is always looking for 5G. When it can't be located it defaults to 4G. During this process it seems to loose connection. Verizon in its wisdom removed our ability to access ALL the network settings, in particular the ability to select your preferred network type. It is automatically set to 5G. I installed the paid (donation) version of "Samsung Band Selection" from the play store. This allows access to the advanced network setting and allows you to select LTE under the Preferred Network Type. This seems to have fixed 99% of my connection issues.
