Android 4.4 Kit Kat is now official. Please refrain from any more speculative discussion and transition to a more formal thread. This thread will now be the official thread for Nexus 4 users to discuss tips, tricks, bugs, quirks, guides, feedback, opinions, impressions etc. on Android 4.4.
********************************************
Feel free to discuss Android 4.4.x freely in this thread, with relevance to the Nexus 4 of course.
********************************************
(This thread was created to solve the problem of multiple Kit Kat threads with numerous topics being explored, this thread should remedy that problem by providing an area for Nexus 4 users to discuss anything and everything to do with Android 4.4)
http://www.android.com/versions/kit-kat-4-4/
Stay on topic.
↓PLEASE REFER TO THE SECOND POST BELOW BEFORE POSTING. THANK YOU.↓

In light of this thread's "colorful" history, allow me to reiterate what is considered to be acceptable discussion here:
Discussion in this thread is restricted to, as per the OP, the discussion of "tips, tricks, bugs, quirks, guides, feedback, opinions, impressions, etc." for the 4.4 (KitKat) version of Android in regards to the Google Nexus 4 phone. Anything outside of this scope is unacceptable, including but not limited to the discussion of other phones/devices, discussion on the business practices of Google or any phone manufacturer, asking for the best or most stable ROM, arguing, flaming, trolling, or rumors.
If you see a post that falls outside the guidelines of what is acceptable here, please do not respond to it in public. Instead, just report the post and let us handle it. Thank you.
Thank you, and have a great day

Dude it GOOGLE!they would atleast have sent out the invites for the N5 & 4.4 KITKAT launch and there is no such news.
So relax that guy just wanted to get thanked by creating thread named KITKAT with no base for his claims..

That's the image of nexus 5 receiving update. It can be 4.4.1 or it can be 4.4 (only if nexus 5 releases with 4.3 and an ota of 4.4)

Asus releases firmware upgrade to fix screen lift, dead pixels

Today Asus's Facebook page announced the exciting news that they just released a firmware upgrade to the popular Nexus 7 tablet, which they hope will fix common issues like "screen-lift" and dead pixels.
"要解决这个问题,我们感到非常兴奋," the Facebook page said. "我们发现的代码中的错误导致屏幕解除。"
The update will also fix other issues, including blown-out speakers, screen-streaks, and missing screws.
According to Asus, the screen-lift issue was due to a missing semicolon in the code. "这是一个非常尴尬的错误。," the Facebook page reads.
Hopefully this will appease the growing Nexus 7 fanbase, which has been upset by the many issues they have faced.
The multi-billion-dollar company also has another firmware update in the works. Sources predict that it will add more RAM to the device to compete with other high-end tablets.
Check back later for more information.
EDIT: we have confirmation coming in from XDA users.
"This is a super clever fix," slack04 explained. "It's just what we've been waiting for. Now will you give me a moment? I've lost my sense of humor and can't seem to find it."
"No thanks," said user jcjr81. "I'll pass on this update until others prove it works. What if it causes the screen to shrink, or something?"
Some are afraid Asus's fix could make the problem worse, as seen in the infamous Dell Inspiron case of 2008, in which a firmware update to stop batteries from exploding was successful, apart from the fact that the batteries began imploding instead.

Nexus 7 4.2.2 JDQ39 update rolling out in USA?

Just because an update might be rolling out for one particular device it doesn't necessarily mean all the Nexus hardware will be getting said update, so keep that in mind.
I haven't seen any mention of 4.2.2 recently, guess it'll happen soon enough (unless some people are trolling Reddit which is pretty common these days as the site gets more popular every minute).

christianpost is full of click bait articles that have no basis in reality. They literally have daily stories going back a few months saying the nexus 10 (2013 edition) has been confirmed for release on a specific date (which changes every time it passes).
not saying 4.4.1 is not coming definitively, just saying that news source is worthless.

Agreed. christianpost and ibtimes are the two biggest google news spammers I've seen. I wish google news had a way to filter out specific sites. Again, 4.4.1 might be coming (and probably is). But I usually disregard both of the above sites as well as any other news site that quotes one of them as sources.
if there was an update coming, we'd see it on a more major site like android central, android police, droid life or even engadget... not to mention any posts from anyone in the know on G+
just my thoughts.
While I do agree with you all there is one thing that makes me think this is true. LLabTooFeR is very accurate when it comes to releases and if he stated it was coming to the HTC One soon then the nexus would get it first. He is a very reputable and accurate informer when it comes to updates.

4.4.1 will likely be released in the future. "Soon" might be a few mibutes, hours, days, weeks, or months.

Agreed, Football is generally right on when it comes to timing of releases for HTC devices. Did he say when 4.4.1 was coming or did he just say soon?
It doesn't take a genius to know 4.4.1 is going to be released for the N5 at some point. Nothing any news site so far has posted has any real inside info as to the date. So we will just have to wait and see.

its Gonna be 4.5 Kitkat still or Lollipop or Lemon
Hopefully they won't do what they did with Jellybean and stretch the name over 3 major releases. If they change the name I think Lollipop would be good.
With the little partnership they started with KitKat last year, I'm sure the name will stay for a while.
Maybe we'll see a name change in 2015.

Lard
I never thought of lifesavers that seems probable. I have a feeling Kit Kat won't last that long. Probably when Nexus 10 is announced it will get updated. Then the next update to android will probably have art as default and possibly SMS integration similar to icloud. To where you can send SMS using tablet, PC etc.

s5 Active NEEDS IT"S OWN FORUM please

MODS > Please open up a forum for us that have the At&t S 5 Active.
We have root, we have recovery (SS) There are differences between the original s5 and the Active.
Edit: we have our own ROM now as well.
We don't have the finger print scanner. We have extra buttons and some specs are different. S4 Active has their own forum.
The firmware is different, The model number is different.
I was told by a MOD that there was not going to be one due to the Active being so locked down. Well we are not so locked down anymore and really need a separate Forum.
