Hello,
I've converted my stock AT&T HTC One sense to the Google Edition a few months ago and want to go back to sense Roms. Can I simply just flash a custom sense rom? Or do I need to covert my one back to Att stock sense?

Give more details. Do you have S-OFF ? Firmware version ? etc..
Otherwise you make people's will to help you kinda disappear.

Nope, thank you.
Because you're going to have to wipe EVERYTHING (preferably at least); do a full backup of your stuff (nandroid etc)
Since your phone is S-OFF, make sure you have SuperCID. You don't really need to reflash recovery I guess, unless it's out-of-date or not working properly.
Start your phone in bootloader by typing
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Select "Fastboot" so that it appears in red instead of HBOOT
On your computer, make sure fastboot sees your device, then type
Code:
fastboot erase cache
Type
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Download the new firmware.zip
Type
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Once it's rebooted on a silver HTC logo, type :
Code:
fastboot flash zip [pathonyourcomputer/firmware.zip]
Wait until it is done on your computer. The green line on the phone will never reach the end.
Type
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Reflash your recovery (I recommend CWM). Might as well play it safe.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery [pathonyourcomputer/recovery.img]
Reboot into recovery (select the option in fastboot)
Wipe data/factory reset (you will loose everythng)
*** If there are files you need to keep, you can always use adb pull to get them out before hand (let's say a nandroid backup or something important)
Wipe Cache partition
Advanced -> Wipe Dalvik Cache
Now you have 2 options :
Push
While in recovery, type
Code:
adb push [path/rom.zip] /sdcard/rom.zip
Select "Install zip"
Select "Choose zip from sdcard"
Voila ! You should be good to go !
Sideload
Select "Install zip"
Select "Install zip from sideload"
Type
Code:
adb sideload [path/rom.zip]
Voila ! You should be good to go !

Ok so basically I'm upgrading my firmware? But does this converts my phone from GE to stock sense? Sorry not to question you here as you have taken the time to help me out here. Just want to make sure what's going to happen and I really appreciate your help on this
Btw I currently have CID -googl001. When you mean super CID I have to change it to 1111111?

Actually what I really want is to switch back and forth from sense roms to GE roms which I was able to do back then when I hadn't converted my one to a GE edition. Having that said I was under the impression that you couldn't flash sense roms once you fully converted over or is that a false assumption? I just want to get back that ability I once had I don't need to go back fully stock stock but just enough where I'm able to run sense roms.
Sorry if I'm not making sense here

Personally I'd just flash the RUU to make sure everything is up to date. Just put your old CID back. Afterwards, since you have s-off, you can install whatever you want. But I'd start with changing the CID and flashing the RUU. So pretty much do this but with the AT&T RUU.
If you really wanna switch that much, why don't you try this! Seems tailor-made for you haha
I don't know why you'd go through all this trouble. Just flash a Sense rom.
They work fine on GPe firmware. That's what I'm running right now. (I just like the black boot loader. )

Going back to stock
What you need to know before going back to stock:
Your bootloader will never be "LOCKED" again. You can't restore it. You can only relock it.
"TAMPERED" text in bootloader will disappear only after proceeding method 2.
There are 3 main methods. All three will be described below.
Method 1 - only for users with .401 devices (for more info click here - RUU variants)
Visit this thread - [ROM] HTC One *STOCK* ROM
Download stock odexed version of most recent firmware and recovery.img
Move recovery.img to c:\mini-sdk location
Boot your device in recovery mode (power off the device and turn it on using power + vol down buttons and select "RECOVERY")
In main menu, select "install zip from sdcard" and "choose zip from sdcard".
Navigate to the location of stock ROM (zip) package and confirm flashing procedure.
After flashing process is complete, reboot the device in bootloader mode.
Connect your device to the PC
Boot your device in fastboot mode (like you did during unlocking bootloader - power off the device and turn it on using power + vol down buttons and select "FASTBOOT")
Open up command prompt ( Start > Run > type cmd and hit enter ). The window that appears is called Command Prompt. <click here to see the image>
Navigate to where you unzipped "mini-sdk" package (type in Command Prompt: cd c:\mini-sdk). Note: make sure the path is not c:\mini-sdk\mini-sdk
In the Command Prompt type following command: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
You have now stock boot, system and recovery partitions. Time to relock your bootloader.
In the Command Prompt type following command: fastboot oem lock

mini-sdk: http://goo.gl/T6InE (credit mike1986.)
make a folder in C such as: minisdk. Then extract everything in the compressed file to C:\minisdk. You should have fastboot.exe and adb.exe in that folder (together with other api file)
now, you should move the recovery image and odexed rom to C:\minisdk and follow the steps in my previous post.
Please read whole process before starting so you can have a clear picture of what you're gonna do

I suggest you to S-OFF your device so you can remove the tamper message/lock/relock/unlock your bootloader easily. Go to One Original Android Dev forum, search for a thread "s-off with revone" (usually at first page) and follow the instruction
Hi,
How stupid I was. I was trying to root my new unlocked htc one.. Unfortunately something went wrong and cannot get into system now at all.. Little phone comes up with red triangle in the middle and after a while it reboots itself and same thing happens again. I can go into fastboot mode, bit either factory reset or recovery end woth red triangle. Bootlocker is unlocked, Im able to lock it again, S-on and I cannot turn it off. I heard about ruu files but as far as I know I cannot downgrade when S-on. My os version is 2.24.401.8 and the newest I could find was 1.38 (something like this). My question is: can anyone do something about it? Is onlu solution to wait for newer ruu version than 2.24? Will it ever come out? If someone will help me bring my phone back to life I will pay you for your time.. Thanks

You're unlocked, so no worries you should be able to get your phone up and running. post back the getvar and we'll take it from there
That screen with the red triangle is stock recovery. Hold Power+Vol keys together to get into the menu to reset, etc.

No hair pulling please :silly:
Since you're unlocked you can easily flash any ROM and get your phone up and running again, I do suggest (if you are willing) to get S-Off which will allow you a bit more flexibility now and in the future.
But one step at a time!! so, no hasty flashing, etc. and DO NOT lock your bootloader unless you are S-Off, otherwise there may be a chance you won't get it unlocked again.
How long till you get off work?

sorry which ROM, you didnt post a link
Your bootloader looks just fine!! you can flash pretty much anything you want except unsigned firmware or RUU downgrade (you need S-Off for those, and with you 2.24.401.8 S-Off can easily be achieved)
I'm gonna be off in a while, so if you wanna pick this up some other time just let me know (maybe the weekend best since it's almost here)
In the meantime, you can go ahead and flash any ROM you like.
Don't mess with firmware or RUU for the time being, and do not try and lock your device!!!!!!
To be able to flash a ROM, you will need to install a custom recovery (either CWM or TWRP), I personally use CWM Touch: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173863
You flash that in bootloader/FASTBOOT USB, on you PC:
fastboot flash recovery <name of recovery>.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
-> enter RECOVERY, and make a nandroid backup
while in recovery, on your PC:
adb push <name of rom>.zip /data/media/ <- this will take anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, and should come back with sucess
in recovery "install zip" -> "choose zip" -> select the rom, and go through the installer
you should be good to go

If you just want to go back to stock, use CWM to flash this: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-401-8-zip/
If you want to receive OTAs, select "stock recovery" and "stock radio" in the installer

1. zip from sdcard
2. from last install folder
3. from sideload
Should I choose 1st option as this (]adb push <name of rom>.zip /data/media/) command will copy my rom to SDcard?
If you want a sense rom use the Android revolution hd 31.5.
If you want more of a stock android os get cyanogen, make sure if you flash cyanogen that you flash the gapps too . Hope re are many roms, those I would say are most prominent. hopethis helps

when adb push <name of rom>.zip /data/media/ error comes up with DEVICE NOT FOUND.. Im using my computer at work and dont have htc sync and drivers.. is this the problem? Cannot install it because Im not an admin. I will be at home in few hours if drivers are the case. If I choose REBOOT it asks me about the ROOT. What should I choose? Will I have any problems when I choose yes?
I've been having some problems recently. I've been wanting to update to Kitkat but I have replaced the stock recovery software with CWM, and thus it doesn't work.
To solve this problem I've figured out that I need to get my claws on an RUU, which I have. Hopefully I've grabbed the right one. It doesn't seem like the RADIO serial-thingy matches though. Device has
Code:
4A.21
whilst the RUU has
Code:
4A.23
.
I've tried using the RUU in fastboot but later figured out that I need to have S-OFF for that. That is currently not the case. I've tried using both Firewater and Rumrunner. According to the instructions I'm required to have the phone on in the usual way. As in, not in the bootloader. The problem is that my phone is stuck in some restart loop. When reaching the PIN-screen it will automatically restart/crash after a few seconds. I can however use the phone as usual during this time. Sometimes, it alerts me with an error.
It also seems like the battery completely empties itself sometimes. This is when trying to restore it, getting in and out from the bootloader and the like.
Here's some software info:
CID: HTC__Y13
MIDN0710000
Bootloader info:
Code:
M7_UL PBT SHIP S-ON RH
Code:
HBOOT-1.55.0000
Code:

Code:
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909

Great thanks in advance and pardon my useless formatting (and my lacking knowledge of this forum as there might be some rules I'm not following), I'm damn tired of this device.

If the RUU is an .exe file, then try placing it in the same folder as your ADB/FASTBOOT files. Plug-in your phone to your PC so that it is recognized on the PC then double click the RUU.exe file. Follow the on-screen instructions. You don't need S-OFF to run an RUU for your phone with the correct CID & MID providing the RUU is the same version or higher.

The RUU crashes when launching it, "InstallScript Setup Launcher has stopped working". I'm quite sure I have the required stuff to run it. Running it as admin didn't help.

It looks like a PC issue. Check out this post Installscript setup launcher has stopped working! In the reply they list two methods it looks like you did the first one. Sometimes, I just have to reboot the computer to get everything set correctly.

Unfortunately, none of these methods helps. The device is supposed to be in Fastboot USB mode when the RUU is launched, yes?

what is the ruu version you are trying to use (complete file name)?
easiest way: download this guru reset file, its exactly the same version you have on your phone now.
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_3-62-401-1-zip/
put TWRP 2.6.3.3 (recommended) recovery on your phone
copy the zip to your SDcard
Enter recovery and flash like you would do with a custom rom
in the Aroma installer, select wipe data, install stock recovery, install stock radio when prompted.
This file will put you back to fully stock.

Hi, I'm a newbie and I was supposed to post a thread regarding a problem I'm facing similar to this. So if it's alright, I'll post it here also and ask for your advice. I recently unlocked my HTC One w/ 4.4.2 amd Sense 6.0 a few days ago and was also able to flash CWM custom recovery and root it. I then tried flashing the latest Android Revolution HD, when I rebooted the phone after intallation, it just stays on the first spash screen. I forgot that I needed to S-off my device. So now, I can only access the bootloader and recovery. The status of my device currently is *Tampered*, Unlocked and S-On with 1.57 Hboot. Also, I can't copy files from my PC to the device. I don't know what to do. I've been reading around but I think I need some concrete advice. Thank you in advance.

Best to start your own thread, but on a quick fix, your problem is CWM, you need to use TWRP recovery to flash that rom, also recommend 2.6.3.3
Tampered and unlocked is normal, nothing to worry about, and you don't need s-off to flash custom rom's, just an unlocked bootloader

Bugger, I have it renamed to RUU.exe and it's md5 doesn't match any file from the site I remember I downloaded it from. I am, however, currently downloading
Code:
RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_O2_UK_4.20.206.16_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353143_signed_2.exe
CID and MID matches, but I didn't buy it in the UK. It was bought in Europe.

Thank you, I appreciate your advice. I tried flashing TWRP recovery but when I go into TWRP recovery, my touchscreen doesn't respond. Any thoughts on why? It works when I'm on CWM though.

Did you name that file yourself, that's the wrong file, that one is O2 "206", hence 4.20.206.16 you need 401, 3.62.401.1 which is WWE, the same number under your os information in your first post and the same as the guru reset I linked.

with your phone booted in twrp main menu, and the rom.zip in the same folder of adb.exe and fasboot.exe:
Code:
adb push guru_reset_m7_3.62.401.1.zip /sdcard/
wait for the file to transfer (5-10 min) (there is no progress bar just wait adb to tell you the file transfer is complete)
then in twrp hit "install" and then choose guru_reset_m7_3.62.401.1.zip

On an unrelated side-note; if I "thank" someone in the forum, does that count as an upvote or a complete fix regarding my problem (like StackOverflow works)?

no, hitting the "thank" button doesn't count as an upvote like on other forum. This is only to say thank you to a person who helped you.

The ROM was successfully installed and I'm currently configuring my phone! The phone did not implode when restarting, something I take as a sign of a functional phone! A truckload of thanks for the both of ya!
Hey guys this is my first attempt at rooting and now I have a soft bricked phone. The phone just boots into the Android logo and nothing else. I accidently erased all my data using the custom recovery program called TWRP. I went to Wipe and pressed format data. Can you guys please help me fix it? Thanks
What ROM are you trying to use?

You will have to push the zip with TWRP recovery and the command line. Are you S-Off?
Also thread titles like this is an easy way to get it ignored or even deleted before anyone can look at it.
I take it he's s-on he's just attempted to root
Try fastbooting the boot.img in terminal on your PC..

Unlike some other HTC devices, the M7 does not requires to flash the boot.img separately after flashing a rom. Boot partition is not secured and is flashed automatically when flashing a rom from custom recovery. OP has formatted data partition which mean he have no OS (no rom) installed. So flashing the kernel (boot.img) will not solve his problem.

1) Your twrp version is outdated. Download twrp 2.8.6.0 for M7 and flash it:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_file.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
2) Boot your device in twrp main menu, with the 2.8.6.0 version you'll be able to see your phone storage on your computer like if it was a usb drive. Drag and drop your rom.zip to your phone internal storage (My computer --> One --> Internal storage --> your_rom.zip here)
Then in twrp select "install" browse you phone storage and select "your_rom.zip" and swipe to bottom slider to install. Once done reboot your device and voila.
If you don't want to use a custom rom and you only want to use your stock rom and have root, you could simply flash the 7.19.401.102 ruu to get your OS back and then reflash latest TWRP (2.8.6.0) so you can root your stock rom. If this is what you want I can give you step by step instruction for this too, just ask if you need.

There isn't much more to say about the install process than what's already said in ElementalX thread:
INSTALLATION
1. Install zip from recovery
2. Follow the instructions, if you don't know what to do, use the preselected options
3. Reboot

Your bootloader can be unlocked using instructions at www.htcdev.com/bootloader
Twrp recovery is flashed using fastboot in bootloader mode:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.1-0-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
and finally save the correct elementalX version on your phone storage and install with twrp.
ok but in future how i recover stock recovery and kernel ?

It's very easy. Just go into fastboot mode, switch into RUU mode via "htc_fastboot.exe", install the stock RUU zipfile even via "htc_fastboot.exe" and that's it. In the HTC stock RUU-zips everything is included, even stock recovery, kernel, and so on...
I recommend for ALL fastboot-operations with HTC devices to use the special "htc_fastboot.exe", it works smooth for me.
Code:
htc_fastboot.exe oem rebootRUU
Wait for the silver HTC progress bar, then:
Code:
htc_fastboot.exe flash zip PN07IMG_M7_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Europe_7.19.401.2_Radio_4T.35.3218.16_10.33Q.1718.01L_release_421790_signed.zip
If this step failed after installing "pre-update" hboot, that's normal. Start the flash procedure IMMEDIATELY a second time (or -- as in my case -- it is automagically done by the flash proceeding).
This flash tooks approx. 10 minutes. If you got your windows command prompt back, the final step is (even if the silver progress bar is NOT at the end, that's normal too):
Code:
htc_fastboot.exe reboot
and the system will start like a brand new original M7.
I did this many times with one of my different M7's (one for daily use, several others for testing and experiments), and all the time it worked without any trouble.
(Yet I'm using Slim7-1.17 7.1.2 Nougat with GPE-firmware on all devices, it runs much much better as any stock rom from european HTC Sense).
Happy flashing,
samhhmobil

If your phone is running the latest version, you won't need the stock recovery anymore so there is no need to backup the stock recovery.
You can backup your stock kernel using twrp "backup" menu. Make a backup of the "boot" partition, this is the kernel. If you need to restore your stock kernel, just restore that backup using twrp "restore" menu. Also, stock recovery and kernel can be extracted from a firmware.zip or ruu.zip matching your phone version if you really need them (someone probably already extracted them and uploaded somewhere, if you can give me the output of "fastboot getvar version-main" I can tell you if your stock recovery and kernel are already uploaded).
You can still flash a ruu to restore your phone back to stock like described above, but flashing a ruu only to restore the stock kernel is a really drastic solution (will reset the whole phone back to stock, rom/recovery/kernel/everything and you'll loose your data).

If using htc_fastboot.exe you must NOT do the flash command a second time. htc_fastboot.exe will take care of the hboot pre-update itself: will flash the hboot, output the "90 pre-update error", make the phone reboot itself back to ruu mode and flash the remaining partitions without any action from the user. Just so you know it's not magic but how it's intended to work when using htc_fastboot
The second flash was only needed if using the regular fastboot.exe from the sdk-tools for 6.xx.xxx.x RUU and older (7.xx.xxx.x ruu must be flashed with htc_fastboot.exe because of the ruu file size)
thanks all, it working
Well until i tried magisk, can't get safety check pass
