[Q] Camera Settings monxDIFIED Rom - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone i'm posting here cause i have less than 10 posts
i use monxDIFIED Rom for my Z1 it's great, except one thing when i try to manual change the camera settings to 20MP it forces close, not sure if it happened on stock cause i instantly put Rom when i got it. and i wonder if it's fixed in 1.02 release, also if installing it would wipe the internal /sdcard path...thanks in advance

[Q] 4.4 Camera issue?

Flashed AOSB and Mokee today and found out the phone's camera is not working properly
but later restored to 4.1.2 stock ROM and no problems occured
Problem:
When taking pics close-up, like a bunch of words
I touched to focus and it's crispy clear but when I touch the focus button, it re-focused and took the shot
This problems happens on different camera apps including stock ones and the downloaded ones like Camera FV-5
Tried re-flashing AOSB and even switched to Mokee (both based on 4.4.2) but still having the same problem
Then I restored a backup of my stock 4.1.2 ROM and tried with both stock camera and Camera FV-5 and it works fine
Might it be a software issue or hardware issue? Btw lost warranty due to the bloody Knox warranty flag issue

[Q] Slimkat bugged or Kitkat charms?

Hello, I've enoguh with waiting and waiting for official 4.4 Kitkat for my i9305 so I decided to install Slimkat.
I made imei/data backups and wipe data/factory reset (via latest CWM recovery), then installed it with gapps from my sd card.
When installation was complete and system loaded, I saw Nova Launcher at "desktop". Okay, then I wanted to check my notification bar and.. it was completely empty. When I was clicking at "human" icon in the corner I heard a sound, but it did nothing. The screen in attachment describes it better.
Also "back" button (near HOME) didn't work. When I opened camera app, I wasn't be able to turn it off/minimalize it. None of buttons worked (back, home, menu, volume up/down) Also when I opened options (after phone restart) it didn't work too. I can't go back to desktop, only to "main settings menu" via touchscreen.
I tried to reinstall ROM (with wipe but without gapps) but I have it again...
Is it possible I made any fault or is it "Kitkat or SlimKat charms"? Any ideas how to "repair it"?
Regards, Atexor
P.S. I'm writing this topic because I haven't enough post to post in Slimkat thread.
P.S.2. I'm really sorry for my English, it isn't my native language.

I had the problem i while ago with a rom (can't remember which one, could be slimkat), why don't you try installing another kitkat rom, i reccomend the new N7105 port for i9305, it's a kitkat 4.4 stock rom!

I repaired the problem I think I needed to install ROM, then launch phone, open CWM recovery again and install gapps. Not "together".
I didn't see this clean ROM before there (i checked only this thread): http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...305/index-samsung-galaxy-s3-lte-roms-t2206898
Now I see it under wrong Jelly Bean section (I sent raport to change it). Maybe I will try it, but I'm not really sure it's Kitkat (it's look like Jelly Bean - KK has diffeernt appaearance I though) and also I read those "overt known" bugs. I have enough with huge amount of bugs after TGP or JustArchi ROm's port...

Okay, that's nice to hear.
Yeah that's because it is the first stock rom which is running kitkat (there isn't a section for that yet)
But if you want to look for root it's better to to:
Samsung Galaxy S III > Galaxy S III I9305 android development
Goodluck! :good:

Which gapps do you use?
I met a play service issue, due to bad download of the gapps...
To answer to kwstas, in slimroms, root must be enabled in dev options, root access: apps & adb
---------- Post added at 04:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:14 PM ----------
In my case, i'm meeting 2 issues. I want to ask before flashing again: does anyone have the network mode tile? I have the LTE one, but can't find the 2g/3g one...
Also, am i the only one facing problem to access the external sd? It is shown in storage menu, but can't find it in root browser..

I had installed the slim normal gapps provided with the v5.4 ROM.
Didn't have any problem till today when I updated the play music app.
One more question...
Am currently on the v5,4 slim ROM. Do I need to clear data/factory reset or can I directly update to the new version?

Slim team always recommend to wipe at least system partition, cache & dalvik!
And don't forget to download the new gapps package
Help please
How did you solve the art problem (optimizing at every boot) ?
If you will tell me, can i implement it to any kitkat rom on Xperia SP ? (Most ROMS have that problem)

Nope, apps are deleted when you wipe data partition.
No worries for the questions, as you're in the right place
Just a warning, as you'll gap between 5.4 and 8.8, it's possible to meet some issues. If you have some problems, i recommend you to full wipe and flash again before reporting anything.

I installed the ROM after doing a full wipe. The ROM is very nice
I too didn't have the network mode after flashing. But I was able to add in the options. When we long press on the settings icon it gives the options to add the new tiles.
About the storage am not able to see the internal SD in the file explorers. Only the external SD card. Although in settings->storage both are visible. I guess this ROM only uses the external SD card as internal to install the apps and everything. OP has mentioned this post. Is there any way to use the internal memory also?
Ok. So i'm the only one to access to my internal instead of my external sd... Weird!
I fladhed back 8.2 yesterday because all my music is on my external one...
I'll try to flash last build later in the day...
I can't access internal storga? How can i fix that? is that rom only uses extenal storage like internal?
[noob question] And how to deodexed and super mod this rom? i used xperia z3 launcher but it couldn't change the icon and can i install z3 app like calendar, message?
CWM freezes at data wipe
Hi!
I've just downloaded this SlimKat ROM, but at the very beginning of the installation, in CWM, the screen freezed when it was wiping data.
The last lines were:
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
And now I can't do anything, it's like this for 45-50 minutes now, my phone doesn't react to any buttons or swiping on the screen.
Could anyone help, please?
EDIT:
Problem solved. It seems, I had to wait for a nice 65 mins for CWM to complete. Now everything works just fine, ROM installed correctly.
SP upgrade
Kedves Bagyusz,

I advise you to use TWRP, it is much faster!
Hello. I'm new to this rom. I actually just flashed the latest release a few moments ago and I feel like I'm satisfied already. Anyway, do we have the screen recorder on the rom already? I can't seem to find it. I'll be back in a few days for a full detailed feedback. I'm almost certain performance won't fail me. What I'm worried about is battery life. I always find custom roms' battery life needs improvements.

What is the best ROM for Z1

Hello, i have the c6903 and a modded but official 5.01 ROM along with Twin Recovery and Exposed.
The phone works ok until it starts to seriously lag, with icons taking ages to appear on screen (like the HOME screen or APPs screen). Also at points, it fails to recognize any WIFI signals. It is as if there are no signals at all.
The biggest issue is the reboot. In order to restart OS i have to enter recovery and wipe Cache which leads to an approximatelly ~13minutes boot up time.
Now i browsed the ROM section and i've nerver seen so many ROMs available before. It makes it hard to choose which on to install.
I need a rom with Dual Recovery and root. Which is the best offer at the moment with SONY camera software working? I dont care for experimental ROMs but i need something stable, fast and well, fast.
Thanx for reading this.
Hi, installing Xposed Framework will it lead me to bootloops? Was that the cause of my bootloops with the .254(i think) version?
Hi,
First, there is no such thing as "Best ROM", the best to do is search the Development Thread, read some threads, some comments and go for the ROM that interests you. I am running Stock Rooted + Xposed and it has been quite nice to me.
About your question, Xposed is still in alpha version, so maybe it indeed caused bootloops, but latest version has been running fine on my device. I'm running .270 firmware by the way.
All the best,
~Lord

I had the same issues as you and I finally found a ROM that is really smooth! However it does not have Sony camera software as it is based on cm12, the ROM is crdroid

[Help] Upgrade to newer version rooted and without wiping

Hello i am a person who hates to do things like backup apps just so I can reinstall them after wiping them just for a new version.
But as I need to upgrade and didnt touch rom wizardry for a while I am looking for help.
My idea is to get
from my current prerooted stock 4.4
TO
prerooted stock 5 or 6
so i do not have to wipe hopefully(ev rom change)
.
how would I do that exactly?
Exact info in image I got the rom from this forum.
img4host[dot]net/upload/29005635588d2fb305af5.png
Thanks for your time. I hope this is possible. Ohby the way I need to do this because AIDE app does not work on sony phones with android 4 any longer it seems. At leastthats what many people reported and I would like to use it as I always get a stupid aapt theme resource error in building my apps. even tried changing theme to holo did not help..
If maybe you have a workaround for that would be even neater because I like android 4.4 more anyway.
That's what I did. 4.4 -> 6.0.1 without wiping internal memory factory reset after, just flashing the rom and twrp recovery. It's recommended to take the trouble to backup & start fresh, but no problems here.
Helium was handy to backup some stuff.
I followed the thread titled: Recovery & Root for MM .575 & .291 LB
..using a crappy old desktop with linux on a usb stick. I did flash Su for root then xposed, for all the good things like adaway, afwall+, titaniumbackup, pmp, sdfix, sdmaid..
Marshmallow is pretty damn slick, its worth it, take your time.
Hi thanks for your answer. I found a prerooted stockfirmware with 6.0 from the same guy i had prerooted 4.4. And no errors whatsoever.
but i noticed some lags here and there whereas in 4.4 everything seemed more smooth. In marshmallow now it feels like sometimes it freezes for half a second. very weird..
Any idea how to fix that?
ActuallyI had 6. 0 before downgrading but I liked the 4 more (look, feeling, compatibility) so I downgraded.
They say the lags will go away after some use..
It may be with not starting afresh (I didn't notice any problems but its highly recommended to), it may be something you have installed or very likely just the new rom 'wearing in'..
I started from stock 23.0.1.A.5.77 to stock 23.5.A.1.291 and applied root, read about the the lags when upgrading and that they go away after some days use as android optimizes (again, no problems here). Try giving it some time and see.
Weird that you talk about AIDE.. was reading about that and Terminal-IDE.
