How to Root Dell Streak 7 Running 4.2.x - Dell Streak 7

Hi,
I've successfully loaded the 4.2.2 build as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2413390 but have lost Root access.
Have tried a number to install a number of packages via TWRP which work on previous versions to no avail, anyone know a successful method ?
Thanks in advance

LOL root is built inside of it, no need ot install anything.

[Q] Dell Streak 7: Need some guidance

For the past few days, I have been reading from various forums in regards to this device. I have a Dell Streak 7 Android 2.2.2 Kernel 2.6.32.9 Build 15420. (Trying to give as much information)
I was able to install CWR and flashed LG7_336_0_33_FULL_ROOT by Daveid that I found in a forum so that I can obtain Root access. I have tested this with apps that need root access and it is working perfectly.
My true goal for all this is to be able to VPN to my job but I understand I need root (done) and tun.ko (need this). After investigating I found I can get tun.ko with Dj Steve's StreakDroid 1.7.0 aka HD7.
Two Questions
1. would Dj steve's rom give me tun.ko?
2. If I flash this rom will I lose root access that I got from Daveid's rom?
Any assistance with this will be truly appreciated.

that rom is not for this device but flash if you want ,..lol
Thanks for the clarification of the Rom so I take it this rom is for Dell Streak 5.
In any case has anybody been able to tun.ko active in Dell Streak 7? I read that this is device specific and I see many instructions on the internet but always for different devices.
I know this is a new device but has anyone been able to get VPNC or OPENVPN to work with this device?

Root options for 4.2.2 ?

recently got a VS 980 running 4.2. 2 with build number ending in 39 B software version 10 B, most everything I found here is for 4. 4.2. just want to make sure I do all the steps correctly, should I accept updates then root?is towel root an option? I saw it doesn't work on 4.4.2, but could be loaded directly to the device and routed straight from the device?
I think I also read you have to separately add recovery to the device after rooting?

You can still use ioroot to root 4.2.2, I don't know if towelroot works on it. You'll need to flash TWRP via fastboot if you need a recovery afterwards.
for what it's worth everything worked fine with towel route it appears was able to root straight from the device and not have to hook up to a PC,
now I need to find the right way to install recovery for this version?
what apps are safe to remove I would like to get rid of all the Verizon ones?
and any ideas on what to do with OTA updates as I believe I saw lollipop should be coming to this device in March and I am NOT even on 4.4 yet?

[Q] Root Android 4.4 Freescale

Hi,
It's my first post on this forum so excuse me if I didn't post into the best section..
I work on a VAB-820 development board powered by Freescale. I installed Android 4.4.2 on it and I need to root the system to run some applications who needs su rights.
I tried to follow steps to steps to include su in my build image but nothing was very concluent.
All apps like framaroot, towelroot & co don't work for my board.
I would like to know if anyone could help me giving root access to my system, using a special tool after installing stock android or by compiling it from sources.
Thanks in advance for any kind of help of tips you could give to me and sorry my bad english...
Solution !
Hi,
I finally found a solution to my problem.
I made a little script to include root binaries after installing a stock Android build.
You can run this script via the console from serial port.
You can download it from the link below.

How do I root TMobile Galaxy S6 (non edge) on latest update? (PD1 - 6.0.1)

I've been looking all morning and there are lots of threads with posts from users saying how they might have done it but I haven't seen any definitive guides or tutorials for doing this. I was rooted on the previous version and now I've lost it. I don't have a custom recovery and I'm not rooted.
Can someone help or point me in the right direction please? I guess I may have to unlock the bootloader? I just flashed cf auto root using Odin on previous version but I don't see a cf autoroot for this version.
Post #407 http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...ile-marshmallow-update-status-t3219997/page41 . Worked for me. Follow links in post. First I put hacker kernel and superuser in phone storage( I used systemless root v2.67 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64161125) I used the first tar.md5 link for twrp and flashed through odin. Boot straight to twrp and flash kernel then superuser. You may not need to flash superuser seperatly as the original post does not mention it but that is just what i did.
EDIT: Sorry i dont get many phone calls and forgot incall audio breaks with other kernels. To root just flash twrp in odin then flash superuser beta 2.71. http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/2014-09-02-supersu-v2-05-t2868133 . Do not use systemless root. will not work with stock kernel.
I tried this method and lost in call audio. Any workaround for this?

KFFOWI Stuck at Fire boot animation - Which version to restore?

Hello,
I have a KFFOWI which I rooted some months ago with Superjunky tool, and it worked great. Recently I lost root following Supersu messy update. I tried today to restore root with Superjunky tool : King root rooted succesfully, then when it was time to install supersu and delete Supersu something went wrong, script maybe didn't have root access, well I don't know.
My device is now stuck at the Fire boot animation. I'm ready to restore a stock version, but how can I be sure of the one which was installed, as I don't want to restore a different version and hard brick ? Is there a way from recovery or bootloader to identify firmware version ?
Any help will be appreciated.
Displaying logs under recovery, I think I identified version : 5.1.1

5.1.1 likely references the underlying version of Android which FireOS and all custom ROMs for this device are built upon.
To be absolutely safe reload FireOS 5.3.1 which is the highest rootable build. Before doing that try a factory reset (clearing cache/data) from the recovery menu. Often does the trick.
Thanks. Installed 5.3.1.
Then several attempts to root it with Supertool/King root, around 6 or 7.
Everything works great now.
