hi guys, i recently bricked my phone, anyone care to share how to unbrick and bring back to stock?
Comes with custom recovery and ROM but can only boot into fastboot until S-OFF is achieved. HBoot is 1.44 S-ON, Locked with tampered flag(Not the new 1.54/1.45 HBoot). CID has been set to 11111111 and has not been unlocked on HTCDev before.
Recovery: TWRP (Teamwin Recovery)
ROM: Rooted stock (Flashed a Stock ROM that has a preloaded root)
If you haven't unlocked it before, how did you manage to get a custom recovery and Rom in the first place?

Successfully gained S-Off and Unlock via Revone. Needed to revert to return phone. Successfully locked and gained S-On, although "tampered" appeared on the b/l screen...
Problem now is WiFi no longer works. I cannot flash a complete ROM via RUU, it fails at updating signature. I cannot flash an OTA zip for the same reason. I cannot enter recovery - all I get is the red triangle.
I cannot regain S-Off, or Unlock (via Revone). Error 2.
I've tried firmware.zip - many parts fail. Although my ROM version is now dated April 12th not May 3rd.
Other than WiFi and tampered, the phone works.
I'm stuck!
You should have done s on only when everything else is stock, your lucky your phone even turns on.
I would try to re unlock it, flash a custom recovery and flash a rom get it working again. Then s off and try the whole going stock procedure again.

It won't unlock from Revone
Unlock by flashing the unlock token from htc dev

Done that. However, if the bootloader's knackered, or partly so, a Custom ROM won't flash a new bootloader. Not sure why I need the interim step. My idea was to S-off now unlocked a try RUU again

Well it should be an easy question. I was just wondering do I need to have S-OFF to root and install custom recovery? If not what's the point of having S-OFF asides from readjusting individual partition and flashing modem?
No
1. You just need unlocked bootloader for rooting and flashing custom recovery.
2. If you have sOFF , you dont need to unlock bootloader with htcdev(so you dont lose system apps like flashlight calender etc. Which you do lose if unlock by htcdev)
You can unlock bootloader with revone itself(search revone sOFF tool in one original android development)
Then you can flash custom recovery
Another benifit is while coming back to stock, you can get superCID with sOFF and flash any RUU
Hit THANKS if i helped you

Hi,
is it possible to backup a stock htc one, as shipped from new before rooting, so that i can restore back to stock. I know this is possible on tablets I have had in the past by running recovery via fastboot from a pc, but how can this be done with a htc one?
Yes. This works like a charm if you do it properly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420351
P.s., it works on the HTC One. Not only on Nexus.

I think fastboot boot recovery.img stopped working with 1.54, but it's worth a go. Anyway, there are plenty of stock recoveries floating around.

I did ask HTC to reflash stock (as when received from ee) so, hopefully I will get 1.44 bootloader. I am pretty sure I flashed recovery via fastboot on 1.54 previously after the last repair. I'll see if my memory is correct tomorrow hopefully. Its seems so long since I had the htc one I have forgotten. I have been playing with the s3 for nearly two weeks now. Hopefully I will have a crack free htc one tomorrow, else I suppose it will be another two weeks!!
I'll update here.

I said fastboot boot, not fastboot flash recovery.
fastboot boot would allow a nandroid backup of stock recovery.
Doooh. My bad...

Hi,I should be getting my htc one back today at long last, hopefully with 1.44 bootloader. Thanks for the excellent info above. Looks just the job. Can I ask if this will also restore s-on after doing an s-off. i.e.
- backup factory 1.44 device
- root s-off revone etc
- restore from backup (back to s-on)
- root s-off moonshine etc
- restore from original backup to restore s-on
A nandroid backup will not restore your hboot or S-ON.
With 1.44 hboot you will be able to
- boot recovery and take a stock nandroid that includes your stock recovery
- S-OFF, S-ON, lock bootloader without a trace
With 1.54 hboot you will be able to
- flash recovery and take a stock nandroid that includes your custom recovery, but you can get a stock recovery from xda
- S-ON, lock bootloader but it will show as relocked

Hi, thanks for this. In this case if my HTC One is returned with 1.54 I will be returning it/exchanging it for an s4. I am negotiating with HTC/EE at the moment so this is very useful to know before I do anything with the device. If I cant get s-off I wont accept it.
That's going to be a hard one to argue. I refuse this phone because you have applied a valid update that does not allow me to do an unauthorised modification to allow further modifications undetected?

If you can't unlock using HTCdev and ''fastboot oem unlock'' doesn't work, you'll need to s-off it again. If the phone doesn't boot then you are stuck.

Hi,
I just wanted to return to stock via nandroid and locked the bootloader, flashed stock recovery, removed root, changed my CID back and got to S-OFF.
Everything was fine. I was "LOCKED", not "TAMPERD" and had SOFF with a working stock android and stock recovery.
Then i updated via an OTA to 4.4, but during the installation i got an error: "...metadata recursive some changes failed..." or something like that.
Now the phone does not boot anymore (stuck at "htc one"-screen) and i don't know what to do.
There is no RUU available for my CID (O2___102), i have only the stock recovery and i am S-OFF.
Is there anything i can do?
Edit: i think this post belongs in the "One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting" Forum but i don't think i can move or delete this post, so if a mod could move it that would be great, thank you!
Can you boot to bootlader ?
If you can get to boot loader you will be fine with s-off hold power volume down
