I am using the Nova for awhile, I am pretty happy with it(fast respond and many theme i can pick ). But I check it usually take around 40 to 50 mb ram usage. So I wonder what you guys using and which one you think is the best?
I've tried a few others. Apex, Go and even the over priced Next 3D launcher. I always go back to Nova.
Next launcher is the choice for me. Very smooth, lots of extras, themes out the wazoo. Also if you use the "Next browser" combined with the last android supported flash player = flawless flash video playback. Just sayn.....
i use action launcher. i haven't found anything as useful as the shutters and covers feature of it.
I've used nova,GO, And the Themer app. I like nova the best so far.
Tappin From My N3
Action launcher hands down. I have used most of them but the typical mundane app drawer is not convenient on a phone like this. Action launcher has very practical and unique features not one other launcher comes close to.
Im using Aviate right now . Pretty neat !

Hey guys,
Be honest, which of these three launcher do you prefer and WHY?
1.) ADW.Launcher (not EX)
2.) LauncherPro (not plus)
3.) Go Launcher EX
Which one do you guys use and why?

Personally I like the stock Launcher2. You may find this thread helpful even though it's a bit dated: [Poll] New Launcher...
I have LPP, I think without the plus you just don't get the widgets??? (I don't use them anyway).
I tried ADW a while ago and I like LP, but I didn't find TOO much difference. I find LP to basically be stock but has more features (transitions, landscape). It's fast, and for me, like I said, I just keep it looking mostly like stock.
In adw you could resize Widgets while in launcher pro (free) you can't. That is sort of a big thing. In the other hand you don't get screen transitions in adw. Go launcher takes paid thing from both and makes it free. I try all of them but I find myself changing them constantly.
Which do you guys prefer?

But it really is personal preference. I personally love ADW (and love ADW EX even more which I bought to support the dev... the extra features are just a bonus). I find it much better and more intuitive than both the stock launcher in Android and Launcher Pro. I have never tried Go EX because I am perfectly happy with what I have. Certain options may be a must-have for some, while others will never use it (like I never use widget resizing).
I know many people who can't stand ADW and love Launcher Pro. There is no quantifiable proof saying one is better than the other that applies to everyone. It is like saying Sense is better than stock. For some it is, for some it isn't (I can't stand Sense, but my buddy misses it even though he loves CM7 more than his stock experience). The same goes for MIUI vs CM.
This is the beauty of Android. There isn't just one cookie cutter design that everyone has to learn to live with. You can try different things and make the decision for yourself (or constantly change if you can't make a decision).

Of course it's personal preference. A good example is that I don't care about resizing widgets. No widgets I use need to be resized. I, personally, don't prefer those kinds of widgets. But I can see how someone else might.

If I had a tablet with 3.1, I'd put up some widgets and resize them, but on my phone I just prefer to open an app.
BUUUT, to me that's the point of a thread like this. Get everyone else's personal preference, and decide which one best suits your needs.

I would reword your reply (or original post) saying that you don't want people to JUST say it is personal preference. And that you are wondering the reasons why people prefer the launcher that they do.
The way you asked made it seem like you were looking for a definitive "best" launcher, which there isn't one launcher that will fill that for everyone.
Number 2 becuz its so customizable and it fits what i want

Now that i've finally tried it i can't believe i waited so long to install Launcher Pro. It really is so much better than the other Launchers i've used. Launcher Pro is to Launchers what Cyanogenmod is to ROMs.

In term of 'free' features, which has more. ..(not including go ex)
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
What I like in a launcher is speed going to all apps, back home, going to menu... I hate when it lags and redraws the icons or something.
I've been using go ex for a while and now I've changed to launcher pro and now I think I'll try Zeam (looks like the lighter).
In term of features I think ADW is the one with more options
GO launcher EX
Reasons:
1) allows you to create folders in you app drawer.
2) allows you to hide apps from the app drawer ( i think launcher pro does too)
3) you can do gestures on the home screen
4) scrollable dock with as many as 3 rows
5) you can have notifications on the dock
From my own experience, and from speaking to other members of XDA and other android forums, I've noticed that 95% of people (approx) aren't totally happy with their home launcher but won't change because it offers the closest to what they feel they need.
Running off this, I thought what launchers would you mix together to create your "perfect" launcher(if you could).
Personally, I'd put together Holo launcher and Go launcher ex together with the addition of a launcher where I could totally change my dock, as Ive seen some great docks on DroidIcon.
I choose these because I like the smoothness and general use of holo but love the array of themes and widgets available specifically for go launcher.
What would you choose and why?

id say something like apex with the ability to change the dock and also resize the icons(more emphasis on risizing icons since theyre so tiny on nova and apex).
I would do something similar to Go Launcher without all the bloat.
Trebuchet!!
I would like to merge trebuchet and nova launcher. Nova launcher without too much of customizability and nova's shadow option rocks with treb!
:good:
This is the best theme I've ever seen..
But this thread should be in general thread...

completely stock, Jelly Bean!
When using Samsung, HTC phones you become so jealous of the stock android launcher that it becomes an obsession.
Whilst touchwiz and sense offer some things that are better, as a past/current user of these phones, we just want to speed and compatibility that nexus devices can offer.
I don't think I'll ever root & install a custom rom on my Nexus 7, it's sexy, super fast & smooth & just what I wanted.
Enough to make me also consider a Nexus phone as my next phone too.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I use go launcher ex, not the HD tablet version. The one for the phone just works better for me.
I like the paid version of Nova the best, but if I wanted a free replacement I'd go with Apex.
At the moment I like the stock launcher the best. I can't really seem to get either Nova or Apex to look the way I want them to.
Apex for some reason I can't have 6 rows in landscape mode, because the gap between the icons and the labels is larger than normal that the labels end up vanishing with more than 5 rows in landscape.
Also I don't like how the dock bar rotates with the screen.
Nova launcher seems to have gotten better after the recent update, I can move icons easier now. One cosmetic issue that bugs me though is I've turned off the google search bar, however in landscape mode it still shows the divider bar between where the search bar was and the rest of the screen on the left side. I really wish that could be removed.

Nova is amazing, and blazingly fast. Very clear difference from Apex, which I used for a few days. Sticking with Nova Pro.
I like sslauncher. Different and loved it on my note as well. Just wished had more themes
From the Note to Nexus 7
Stock is great, using Nova to hide apps and sort apps into folders though, and is just as good
Using Nova Prime. Mimics 4.1 quite well and adds more function. No regrets. The reason I purchased Prime is because I already own Widget Locker and I chose to continue my support for the developer.

Greetings Guy...Wanna know about yours expieriece, wich one culd be the best laucher for the TP???
nova seems the smoothest to me. and of course has plenty of options.
I use Apex, but there are many good ones available. It's a matter of personal preference.
Nova has plenty of options and is quite fast. But the stock one that comes with cm is quite fine too (trebuchet) and if you don't need too much customization is quite similar to nova.
I personally use Nova because I got it for $0.25 during one of Google's sales. It's a good smooth browser with a bunch of customization options. That said, there are a bunch of launchers out there that take a different view on things. There are 3d launchers like Next that run adequately on the TP. Action Launcher has a couple of very nice features that I like as well... but not enough to give up the customization of Nova.
In the end, it really is all up to what you like and what you want. That's what Android is all about. Do you want fancy? Do you want smooth? Do you want customization? Try em all out and see which one you like.
I Like the GO Launcher EX

I stick to Sense. I don't know what it is, but every time I try and switch off of it, I always end up coming back. Even though they change it with every new flagship, I still stick with it. I've used Aviate, and while it's nice, it's just not for me.
I'm on sense right now, using xposed framework and sense 5 toolbox to get a 4.5 home screen. However, I also frequent nova launcher. It just depends on my mood, and I have them both installed pretty much all the time.

Big +1 for Action Launcher. It has a free trial(!) now, even, so there really isn't an excuse to at least give it a whack. It's not perfect for everyone, but if it you can handle its paradigm it works really well. Aviate's also good, but the inability to hide apps (among other things) really killed it for me.
Agreed
