There is probably a post on this but this is something a little different. Video How to guide that even the newest noob can follow. Step by Step, easy How to guide. Anyone can do this.
You will need to to power on the Galaxy Gear, go to settings and enable USB debugging in about device. Now put the Gear on the Dock and plug it into the computer with the Micro usb. Now open a CMD and run ADB. Find the location of you desired app and type "ADB Install "File Location and Name" into the ADB. Need help watch the Video. Hard to explain in text, Its why I made a video walk through. Deleting apps require another app or factory resetting the Device.
NOTE: I AM IN NO WAY, SHAPE OR FORM, RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OUTCOME OF YOU FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS! IT WORKED FOR ME, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL WORK FOR YOU!

Anything requiring internet access will not properly function. I'm hoping we can get a custom recovery and ROM with bluetooth data tether to the phone. Then the sky is the limit!

1st thanks for this adb is always great...my app I installed
olive tree bible
calculator plus
google calendar (cant add anything)
focal camera
google keyboard
screen shot(yes it works)
simple note
supersu

Wow left that out. No apps that require any type of internet will work. Games or applications.
also if it was possible to tether the signal though Bluetooth then this watch would become 100 times more use full. like you said the possibilitys are endless we just need to unlock the doors in front of us first.

Sure, it's the sticky post at the top of the XDA Galaxy Gear forum, it's a very simple process. I haven't seen any negative effects after rooting.

What worked for me is to first install the hacker's keyboard, reboot, then install google keyboard. This seems to activate the hacker's keyboard which works fine. When you bring up the keyboard in an app that requires it, there is a icon on the lower row which allows editing of the keyboard settings. What worked best for me is a 4-row keyboard with key label settings at 600% so you can read the letter symbol on the key.

So pretty...

Working:
Nova Launcher
Google Keyboard
Es File explorer (great for assigning notification and ringtone sounds)
Vplayer (watched Agents of shield lol)

Perhaps am not as talented as you programmers here. Can someone post APK to:
Es File Explorer
Hacker's Keyboard
Samsung keyboard (the one that works with watch)
Thanks!
PS: Thanks for tip on Vplayer , gotta love it!

Thanks bro worked like a charm. Wish I could get a keyboard working I also noticed that some apps would not work even when it says success there was no app on the phone but twitter does work just need that keyboard to log in.
Will you do a video on how to delete the apps? Reseting the gear gets old after a while lol.

Using Wondershare MobileGo (yeah $20, yet it is easy and works great plus offers many features I can use with other Android devices). It also makes adding and deleting apps very easy plus saves the original APK on your computer.
ADDED:
Large Calc
DicePlayer
Synology DS File (local/watch browsing and file deletion)
CTRL Keyboard (it works, but want something better)
Photos (Mini Gallery accesses them as does DS File)
Custom ringtones

"HQ" YouTube on NC

I was fighting tons of bad video rendering and have discovered that so called "HQ Youtube" app for EVO works just fine for Droid. Tried it on my NC, works like a charm (preA2.2, pre Flash 10.1, of course). I can watch HD YouTube trailers just fine, smooth, and fluid now. This is the power of hardware overlay switched ON. I'm sure, a simple hack of Flash Player 10.1 spoofing an Android 2.2 response for it will work just fine too.
Looking for the best streaming TV (IP TV) player as all these yxPlayers are pure junk, both free and paid versions.
See snaps and links in my blog http://fineoils.blogspot.com
I too am using the Evo HQ Youtube apk. I know there was a work around to fix Youtube from failing but I uninstalled it so had to search for an apk and found the one for 2.1 evo. Works like a charm.
I didn't read all of your blog, kinda skimmed it over, but I'm using "Button Savior" instead of "Soft Keys", It works much better.
And goto landscape mode when setting your wallpapers.

There's no such requirement to read my whole blog if one chooses to use just one trick (and not to use DD-WRT router with NC, lol).
Yeah, the development goes fast and in all those diverse direction, so it took me awhile: it's easy to overlook some achievements for HTC EVO when one looks closely in Droid Forums, heh. But I have found it eventually. I guess the Auto-Nooter script should be upgraded (plus Button Savior, minus SoftKeys.)
I used to go nuts (and not "landscape") when choosing my wallpaper: there's way too many resource hogs in NC at this stage. All B&N stuff must go (maybe LendMe, and whatever in-shop app could be added -- later). Didn't do much on this path yet -- before a stable recovery. So I ended up with simplest, unmoving snap of my painting, plus MIUI's clock+weather.
Where do you guys find these older random apk files?
"Googel ist dein Freund!"
Seriously, if you look up for a better YouTube.apk, there's a lot of life outside Google Market.
But if you look for "increase volume for Droid X" you will find nothing yet.

Does that one handle the HD trailers just as well as the older Evo "HQ" version? If so, I may just have to uninstall yet again! lol...
[EDIT: That "ported gingerbread version" appears to be the same as the one installed as default by autonooter v.25, and the videos do not appear to work in HD... am I missing something?]

Would you mind uploading that apk here? I don't have an account on that Android forum
OK, I installed the older EVO "HQ version", and it worked the first time I ran it. But now, it seems that my nook keeps reverting back to the (albeit newer) version included with autonooter (Youtube v2.0.26, or something). This appears to be the same "ginerbread ported" version that Darkman mentioned and linked to, but nothing I do now will allow me to revert back to the "HQ version" that aludal pointed us to...
Why does mine keep reverting back to the newer version every time I reboot, even after I "wipe data" and "uninstall" it with Titanium? Any ideas?

ok, this is frustrating... no matter what I do, the system keeps reverting back to the newer autonooted version of Youtube after a reboot!
The HQ version worked once, but when I rebooted, it somehow went back to the nooted version.
I'm using titanium to wipe and uninstall youtube, then using adb to sideload the HQ version... anyone have any idea what step I'm missing?
I uninstalled the nooter version from the home screen shortcut I made by long pressing. Installed the HQ version through "Appsinstaller" in the market. I put the APK in the Root Directory of the SD card when doing so. Been 2 days and no issues.

I tried to uninstall that way, but it says "Uninstall not successful"
I'm really stumped... I had it working, but now the autonooter version comes back every single time I reboot the device. The strange thing is that I can't find a Youtube.apk anywhere using Root Explorer. It's not in the /system/app directory, so I have no idea where the system keeps finding it after I uninstall it again and again with Titanium...
By chance do you still have the Nooter SD card still in?

Thanks. I just installed it. I noticed that when I am playing a video and turn it landscape -- when I turn it back portrait, it doesn't rotate back. Anyone else seeing this?
My video qaulity is great. Maybe has to do with unchecked compatibility in spare parts. I had to uncheck it, it works perfect for me. Use root explorer and delete the old apk from system/apps then move the new one to system/apps then install. Worked for me.

There's no link to HQ YouTube.apk there, as you have it already.
But there are some explanations, and not just that. I'm asking a lot of questions and waiting for your comments here or there. Together, piece by piece, we may make NC a better tablet even at its present A2.1 level. I'm also sure that many "discoveries" of NC inner workings will be useful for the day when ROMs of A2.2...2.3, Cyanogens will be available and stable for NC.

Notion Ink Apps ported for G-Tab any ROM (7 - apps + keyboard) (UPDATED)

[UPDATE] - I modified the Sniffer app so it says Tablet everywhere instead of ADAM.
I am currently porting over the Notion Ink Stock apps over to G-Tablet. These will be usable on any ROM Theoretically.... I will continue to add the apps to this post as I fix them and upload them.
Here is the first one it is their Canvas App: http://vegantab.gojimi.com/download/Canvas.apk

Clicking on switch to normal calculator will crash the app.... for now.

Notion Ink - Keyboard Ported for the G-Tab. Install like any other app and activate it like you would any add on keyboard: http://vegantab.gojimi.com/download/Keyboard.apk
Notion Ink - Sniffer App (file manager) [UPDATE] - I modified the Sniffer app so it says Tablet everywhere instead of ADAM.

TABLET Version of Quickoffice from their system image: REMOVED PER MANAGEMENT
Notion Ink - Mail'd ported for G-Tab.... This one is an update.zip format... so you need to flash this like you do ROMS with CM... should work for all g-tab roms: http://vegantab.gojimi.com/download/NI.Email.App.Installer.zip
Great! I can't wait to try it when I get home. Please keep them coming...
How is their email App, is it worth porting
I think this should be in Apps Folder instead of development, that way more people will look into this.
@Gojimi, Adam is keeping you out of focus from your CM7 build,
I can never decide whether to post these into apps or development as it is kinda both.... feel free to post a link back to here there if you like.
Installed the canvas and calculator. Both work great.
The only issue I see is on calc, the link at top to switch to normal calc, just goes to home screen?
Calendar I get a app calendar stopped error on agenda view when I click the (+) sign
What a great idea! Can't wait to give these a try. I've done a lot of porting in Linux but none for Android. What's involved?

gojimi, I <3 U
My .02
1. Canvas is cool for what it is - my girls will like it.
2. not gonna mess with the browser
3. KEYBOARD IS AWESOME!
4. Calendar is beautiful but unusable for me. First, the program seems designed to show only one calendar at a time (with others I can see two google calendars simultaneously - one for work, one for family). Full day appointments are screwy, and recurring events may not show at all. Would love to see it 'fixed' to show simultaneous calendars but it looks like that is what the program is designed to do by NI.
5. Calculator...didn't try it.
Thanks gojimi!!

This App will help you enable the on-screen SoftKey (like the one present on Nexus devices) easily. Please make sure that you have a Rooted device. Navigating via SoftKey is easier than using hardware buttons specially with the big screen devices (e.g. Note 2). Also this app can be used with your phone if you somehow damaged your phone hardware keys. It is compatible with stock and custom ROMs (like CyanogenMod, AOKP etc). Please note that some stock launcher may seem a bit odd as they were not designed to go nicely with the on-screen button layout. To fix this issue use any other launcher available on Play Store.
There are two versions of SoftKey Enabler - One is absolutely free (with ads) and other is paid (Pro Version). The only difference between two versions is Ads.
Requirements :
- Android 4.0 +
- Root
- Busybox should be installed
Tested Working On :
- Galaxy S3
- Galaxy Note 2
- HTC One X
Apart from the tested devices, it should be able to run on any rooted device running on Android 4.0+.
If you have any feature request, suggestions or bug report then please drop a mail to [email protected]. We will try our best to resolve any issue or add add new feature.

Thanks for trying. Actually the App uses native Android methods and wanted to keep it as simple as clicking on a button. A lot of people wanted to have the stock experience. But I will look into this and will surely update if it can be done keeping everything simple
Hi,
I tried the free version but it didn't actually work for me (somehow I thought I'd see an extra bar of keys on my HTC One S but apparently it just places them on my current soft keys pad, which is OK but not exactly what I was looking for). Anyways, after I installed it I clicked on "reboot" but it didn't reboot my device so I did it myself. After a reboot, I realized this was not what I was looking for so I got into the application and disabled it. Again, it asked for a reboot but I had to do it manually once again. After this reboot I proceeded to unistall the application.
Now, the problem is, somehow, I completely lost the 3 vertical dots on Google Play (the ones on the upper right). How is this possible and even more important, how do I get this button back? I can't see my installed applications anymore or change Google Play settings. Please help. Thanks.
[EDIT] Ok, I found an article about this http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2012/01/say-goodbye-to-menu-button.html?m=1 maybe your application changes something in the system and it's permanent, even after the user uninstalls it?
[EDIT 2] Ok, I installed your application again from Google Play, enabled it, rebooted manually and the menu button is there again. I went to Google Play and uninstalled it from there, rebooted and the button is still there, problem solved. You may probably want to give this a closer look because it isn't working properly on HTC One S devices under ICS 4.0.3. Have a nice day!

Could you please let me know if you have Root and busybox installed as described in the App description ? The App automatically creates a backup of the previous settings so if you want to bring back the previous configuration then you can try the "Restore" option from the menu.
To enable softkey the App modifies some system configuration so uninstalling the App is not a solution. Rather I would recommend the "Restore" option. Further OEMs do alter some system files so it is difficult to predict each system behavior.
Thanks for letting us know. Also check your SD Card and there should be a folder named "SoftKey Enabler". There you can find your backup file.
[EDIT] If you can post a screenshot then it would be helpful.

Yes, my device is rooted and Busybox is installed. Since I already uninstalled it I think a second installation won't actually restore my system because the application makes an automatic backup when it's started (I actually tried it and it was exactly how I expected). In any case, the problem is solved by enabling and then unistalling from Google Play or Settings. I hope this didn't change other parts of my system, I guess time will tell (I see it modifies the build.prop).
Thanks.
i go test in my L7 for loook how working , Thanks!

Thanks for trying. Actually the App uses native Android methods and wanted to keep it as simple as clicking on a button. A lot of people wanted to have the stock experience. But I will look into this and will surely update if it can be done keeping everything simple

Welcome to the unofficial CyanogenMod 11.0 nightlies
The releases will co-inside and the build start time is at 03:01 UTC every sunday night and should be uploaded soon after. If at anytime the builds are not there, then there was a problem building the ROM, and we will have a look at it ASAP.

If i made a backup in CWM before flashing this new one, in case anything screws up, i'm still able to restore right ?
Congrats milaq, I was trying to dig around with CM11 and was getting stumped... glad to see you getting it to work.
Today is my birthday and must say... wasn't expecting this!
The wow factor is high
OMG...it is really happening....wow, just when I reached the bottom of my despair
Excellent work! Thanks to everyone involved! I've been using CM10 Experimental forever, but it looks like it's soon time for a change.
(And happy birthday, IncognitoMan!)

Since the user community seems to be shrinking, can I ask whoever upgrades to CM11 to post their experience (what works and what not) here?
I will do the same, but probably won't be able to get to it before the weekend.

Everything seems to work except for a few issues...
1.) USB drives don't mount correctly ( simple solution is to unmount and remount from term or adb )
2.) Slight slowdowns in some areas
I'll also add that some of my crashes with XBMC Gotham build seem to be all gone now... Also since we are now on a firmware >=4.3 we can enjoy some better quality netflix for a change...
--------------edit:
Just curious... I noticed that you included cifs support but didn't build nls_utf8 with it? Any particular reason?
This is the best news for my Ouya, I'm so happy to see this, thanks to everyone involved! Will try this out ASAP.
Just a few ideas (updating this as i explore):
Add ethernet settings (ethernet works but no way to disable/enable)
Install a suitable IME by default
Hmm, can't seem to get any audio... Is this a known bug?
This is exciting. I'm buying an ouya strictly for XBMC + Android purposes. Looking forward to trying it out as well. Thanks for your efforts everyone.
Those already running the rom - any issues installing / running XBMC/Netflix/Play store?
Thanks!

Still truckin'
Running pretty good on the 20140325 nightly. I have tried XBMC, Facebook, Tumblr, Angry Birds,Youtube, Pandora and Quickboot. I am running a non-powered 4 port usb hub from Walmart with a 16gig thumb drive, wired keyboard and a wireless mouse dongle. My cheap little Bluetooth keyboard had no problems connecting as well. Now for the issues, From time to time I notice a video glitch, tiny flash of the screen and a single line quickly flashes on the screen (could very well be interference on my end). Settings FCs all the time however I can get in to it by clicking the battery icon in the drop down menu. All and all I am very happy with this port. :good:Thanks again for a job well done.:good: I will continue to test nightlys on a weekly basis.
I too am getting Settings FCs. Also, the Ouya controller buttons are a little different now, I can't use the D-pad for navigation. I've also noticed the video glitches that KJRob noticed, mine seem to only happen with mouse movement. XBMC (v13 beta 2), Netflix, Vevo and Youtube work great though. As always, great work Milaq.
proudly typing this from my cm11'd ouya running the 3/26 build and netflix / youtube / emulators all run even better than with stock ouya firmware!
powered usb hub with wireless mouse/kb combo, 1.5tb external and retarded long wire to a ps3 remote all were ready to roll with zero issues!
only hiccup that i had to wipe my data in the new cwm because i didn't get boot without and now my /sdcard/ which is still linked to /storage/emulated/0 is no longer linked to /data/media like it is supposed to be.. i tried rebooting a couple times and no dice.. if i use root explorer or the native file manager in root mode i can see my old files in /data/media but the zips just stall and the apks i had downloaded all just say "couldn't parse the package"

I had the same issue with the controller. I understand PS3 controllers are the way to go. I dont have one so I cant test it. I am fine with the mouse/keyboard combo for now. As I get older I find that gaming is just not important. My son on the other hand is gonna want the controller to work. I bought my Ouya for use as an XBMC box anyway. With CM11 the added ability to use my Facebook and other standard Android apps is a big plus. I just partitioned a thumb drive and am going to test link2sd next. Result will follow soon.
I do have a suggestion for the polished end product though. I have 3 users in the house. With the ability to access our social networking apps multi user profiles would be great. It would add the ability for each of us to have our own setup in XBMC as well.
I am hopeful we will see Multiboot for the Ouya too. It would be nice to choose CM and Stock+ at boot. I know the Ouya Store is coming to Android but I still enjoy the vanilla Ouya setup.

[GAME] Mini Invaders - WIP - v1.01b available!

Hi all,
I'd like to get some feedback on the following project. It's very similar to the classic, "Space invaders" game but uses all original graphics and code. I don't intend to monetise it in any way, I just want to release it as a free game for people with a Galaxy Gear to enjoy.
Designed specifically for the Galaxy Gear, here are some screenshots of Mini Invaders!

I'm not sure about copyright, but I know they have the PacMan on the Tizen. So I say go for it and ask later? Plus I really want to play Space Invaders....

I think I'll follow the philosophy of, "If it seems reasonable, do it until someone tells you not to."
If I remember correctly they never protected the game just the name, that's why there were so many clones. Would never happen today. Lol.

I'm sorry to hear that. Could you give some more details? So far, you're the first to give any feedback and all I know is it works fine on my Gear with stock firmware and nothing else installed/changed besides two apps (you can see them in the video). I installed with adb.
Are you using stock firmware?
Which version?
How much space do you have left?
Any modifications?
How did you install it?

Could you try installing with adb? I haven't used wondershare. As it is, the app isn't signed so you may need developer settings enabled, I'm not sure.
15 downloads and only one comment on it so far? Has anyone else had problems/success with it?

Thanks for the game! Yes it installed fine, I sideloaded with Android Commander (GUI ADB) Game started right up, I had to figure out controls quickly, lol....Well the graphics aren't out of this world, but the name of the game is...haha..lolol...Ok, crappy joke.... but the concept is there and it is very entertaining. I just need to learn to play a little better. I wasted my limited ammo... Overall, it's a cool game. Thanks a bunch for sharing.

I'm not fan of using ADB. Everything else works through Wondershare, I'll try to install it through device and report.
Installed it on device itself, it does not work. Freezes my Gear, and also my brothers Gear. Both on the same ROM.

Not really, everything that I use works on 22.1 so absolutely no need to touch anything in this little thing.
I really have no idea what could be stopping it working on the Null_ 22 ROMs, has anyone else tried it with stock or other versions of Null_?
I have one theory and I'll try that fix for the next update later.
Well, I was hoping for more feedback or interest in this project. As it hasn't generated as much interest as I had hoped I'm going to focus more on other things. My original plan was to build the app for the Galaxy Gear then possibly expand it to Android Wear.
Thanks to everyone who commented, I might come back to this in the future if I find time and motivation.
EDIT: Motivation found. I'll be releasing version 1.0 soon.
Sorry, I hate to triple post but I've just uploaded v1.0 and thought that was bump-worthy.

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems. Could you try using the stock firmware? If that's not possible, I understand. It would help to figure it out if you found that it worked on stock or other firmwares.
Has anyone else had this issue? I need more information to narrow it down.

I'm sorry to hear that you've had issues too but I appreciate the feedback. I'm seeing 52 downloads of v.1.0, has no one else had that issue or is everyone else staying silent about it? I would really appreciate more feedback to help narrow down the issue.
As far as I'm aware, null_ firmware includes on-screen keyboard support so I've removed keyboard support from the app (it wasn't necessary anyway) and posted a new version with the keyboard layer removed.
Please let me know if 1.01b fixes your issue.
