seems like it should be simple enough but cant find a way to watch a video in portrait mode. I tried the stock movie and video player and mobo player and both of them automatically go into landscape mode when i play a video and no way to go to portrait.
*I'm watching a video shot on a cell phone in portrait mode (narrow and tall) and it only uses about a 1/4 of the screen when in landscape instead of full screen portrait which is how i want to
some players support it some dont. just make sure auto rotate is on...
all you can do...

I'm using ADW Ex and I can watch videos how ever I want to with auto rotate.
Also, you can change it in your browser's settings.

Possible with some players, and not with others (like the Samsung stock video player).
ok guys I think we covered the "Some do, Some Dont" how about posting links or app names now lol
My Note was playing a video via the Youtube App. When I did a screen capture using the S-pen, the resulting image was a blank/black with the control keys. How come? Is this a bug?
Most likely copy protection, just like on Windows PC you won't be able ( in most scenarios ) to capture screen from any video player.
Maybe it depends on the video and copy protection, although I doubt it. Try taking a screen print with a palm swipe. It works for me. The only problem is trying to avoid the menu popping up.

Friend, I have replied to somewhat the same in here.
Hope this helps
And yes, you can capture screenshots using the above discussed techniques.
Hi everyone,
I've contacted Huawei a few times, but haven't got an answer.
Does anyone know why the P9 does not support exporting or sharing slowmotion videos? I can only share it on google+, if I do it on instagram, facebook or simply copy and play it on my pc, it plays in regular speed, now slowed down?
What's the point of this function then? Samsung S6 can record the same and simply exports it.
I had a problem were my slow motion videos would only play at normal speed in google photos, I changed the upload setting from high quality to standard alls ok now
Sent from my EVA-L09 using Tapatalk
play your recorderd slow mo video and tap the screen while paying, you will get a bar where you can set the time where slow mo begins and where it ends, and you have a save button. The newly saved copie will play slowmo on the desired sport rather than the whole film(if you select from begining to the end, it will be the whole film) however I miss the 2x 4x 8x function that I read about

Thanks for the tips! I can see the bar and adjust it, but I can't find the save button anywhere
I now have the problem, that the slowmo correctly plays on the phone, but when I upload to facebook, the slowmo is gone and the video runs at normal speed. Anyone has an idea how to get the slow video to facebook?
Change to where the slowmotion should be on the video and then save the file. When shared it will play as on the phone.
How do I save the file. I change the beginning and end of the slo mo and then share it to Instagram and Instagram previews in normal speed.
Yes I know that I'm digging up in an old topic, but I find it better to get a proper answer once for all rather than asking the same question several times.
save the video

I was having the same "issue". Once you edit the video to show the slowmotion part that you want on the upper right part you will see 3 dots, if you hit them you will get an option to save the video. This Option only shows when the video is playing or on pause.
In Google Photos it's easy and possibly!
Instead of opening it from the gallery I opened it from Google photos, from there I shared it to WhatsApp and others with the effect of slow motion at last

after adjusting ..tap on the three dot at the top right corner of the screen there you will see the option to save slow-mo file and voila

Download Adobe Premiere Clip from the play store and import your slow motion video in to there. Then you can export it as a new file with slow motion intact.

You have to save the slow mo file and export that and it will upload it in slow mo. I do it on IG all the time.

I actually was having the exact same problem, but then i discovered that you simply open your gallery, open your slow-mo video..
Now this is the tricky part :
When you play the video, in the top right corner you'll get the 3 dots option button, click on it and you'll get option to control brightness, audio and there will be an option to save the slow-mo video and share it will play as slow-mo everywhere.
Nite that the 3 dot option button only appears when the video is playing.
Somthing I noticed a few times on my Note 9 was that some times my media files would play very dark. Now this would only happen with 10 bit Hevc files.
So I did some trouble shooting and found that whenever I start and exit the camera in "Photo" mode this would happen.
I have put a pic for a 10 bit hevc video paused on the phone, in both instances all settings are the same, the pic titled "No Black Crush" is before using the camera and the other after using the camera and exiting in Photo mode. From the pic we can see that one pic is significantly darker and details are lost (eg. White spots on the sign and some background stuff).
The only way to fix the black crush is to restart the device.
Would really appreciate if some one out there that is using an Exynos version and plays 10bit hevc videos on the phone would help in testing some stuff out.
Edit - Ok so I guess some more info is in order.
Device info - Note 9 Exynos (Model SM-N960F) on latest official build and NON ROOTED
To replicate issue download the video in the link (https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QR-5JEWNOFI3nbvbLR_80Z7BgA37Dil_)
1. Restart phone
2. Play the video using stock video player (keeping Video Enhancer on makes noticing the bug easier as screen is brighter, Video Enhancer off should also work)
3. Open stock camera and make sure "Photo" mode is selected and then exit staying in "Photo" mode (switching camera modes wont let the bug show up.)
4. Play the clip again. BOOM everything is a dark mess.
5. Restart phone and play the clip again and everything looks clear again

does changing the the screen mode from adaptive display to amoled cinema or even basic help at all?
if you get inconsistent results then it would seem that is would have something to do with the "auto" nature of the display mode. moreover the ambient lighting in the room you are watching might also be a cause. adaptive brightness might produce different results and might be tied the the screen mode as described above.
so remove auto brightness and put screen mode to Amoled cinema or even basic if you really want to compare apples with apples.

Since I have been seeing this behaviour for some time now I have actually checked to see what was triggering it. Changing the screen mode does not help. Also in the pic I attached the brightness level is the same since adaptive brightness is off.
Now I understand where you are coming from but this is not a screen illumination issue. If I play a H264 file everything works fine no black crush even HEVC files which are not 10bit play correctly, the issue is only with 10bit HEVC files.
Oh and am not sure if you are aware as to what "black crush" is, it basically is the tendency of amoled panels to make dark areas so dark that u loose details in the video. In the pic I uploaded u can clearly see that one pic is significantly darker than the other even though all settings are kept exactly the same even the brightness levels are the same but dark areas appear much too dark when the bug is triggered.

Ok, so you are right. More info definitely needed so I have updated the original post with details on how to replicate the issue and have shared a clip as well that you can download and play using the stock video player.

so i forgot before leaving for home to do the test while having access to an other phone taking a picture of both scenarios so that i could analyze both pictures. but by testing it right now doesn't seem to make any difference.( picture seems ok.) but i am using a custom rom and kernel and system is heavily modded so who knows that might have had an impact. also when you do switch from camera to video, do you remove the camera app from memory( remove it from recents? i left it and no change)
for what's it worth im on a july build...
ill try again tomorrow this time taking before and after pictures

Ahh so I should have mentioned. Am on July official build, non rooted (still have 2 months on the warranty). I guess rooting and a modified system would have an impact on the issue but thanks for testing out. Out of curiosity what is your setup? Which custom rom and kernel are u using and what extra addons if any.

Hi all, i just tried my tab S8 and when playing videos on youtube app, the black level of video is good. But when i press any button on the keyboard cover, the black level on the videos changed become more grey/ white. I have to close the video, and reopen the video to have normal black level on the video again. Anyone know what happened and how to resolve it? Many thanks
I have this EXACT SAME ISSUE, but with the Sling app on my tab S8+. Whenever I open the app and start a video stream, the picture looks greyed out. I have to hit the home button to minimize the picture, which forces the app to resize the video without stopping the stream. That clears it up. Then I can maximize the video for full screen and there is no problem. However anytime I stop the video stream for whatever reason, like for example to resize the window or change the channel, the video opens up greyed out again and I have to go through this entire process all over again. I have not been able to find a solution to this problem. Don't mean to thread jack but I believe that the problem the OP has with the you tube black levels is exactly what is happening in the sling app. So perhaps whatever fix someone has for the OP's issue can be applied to my issue. Thanks.
I just checked that using usb keyboard and looks like this is an app interface bug. The app uses keyboard to navigate through interface. When you press a button it greys out element that is currently chosen. Apparently video player window is one big element, that's why it is being greyed out.
P.s. looks like it is possible to fix that by minimizing video player and pressing arrow keys

I haven't tried yet on the Tab S8 but on the Tab S6 I had the exact same thing happen when using an external BT keyboard / mouse combo, so I would assume this is some kind of Youtube app bug. I think you can also exit out of the video so it goes popup and go back in. I was using Youtube Vanced now that I think about it.
