harrahs casino dont like the gear - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Went to casino couple of days ago and was given option to leave or hand them the watch until im ready to leave.i was playingbpoker blackjack all night and i took a call on gear and after 30min i had pit boss tell me i cant play with the watch on my wrist.then they its better if i just let them hold until im ready to leave the casino.i guess next time i will leave it home..that was the reason i got the watch.when im.playing poker or blackjack i did not want to take the phone out to see texts because they dont allow phone on table.people still dont much aboit gear so dont use call option in casino or strip club.

Went to casino in upstate NY a week ago with no problems... However didn't take any calls on it so people might not have really noticed.

The Gear have camera and can make call, no surprise cannot use inside casino.

2sec call just to say I WILL CALL U BACK.i think its gone be google glass getting banned some places once people know this thing exist.

I believe a device with Camera and/or ability to make phone calls is definitely not allowed on Table...
I guess if you just wanna see SMS, probably Sony SW2 is better choice...

Avoid Incoming Calls

I finish work at 18:00 everyday but my boss is a pain in teh ass. he has my mobile number and sometimes he gives me a call cos he is a workaholic.
i need to avoid his calls but the same time keep my phone on. I think some time back one of you guys found a piece of software that avoided particular numbers for a certain time period. so say if i can avoid his calls between 18:00-09:00 then that would be the greatest thing. obviously if he hides his number then im in trouble but i can make something up.
in the long run i need to get rid of this number but i will need to make the transformin slowly.
If you guys can find me this then it will be great.
thanks
i'm not sure how this fits in upgrading but anyway...
i have this problem too i have my own phone (BA) and a company simcard. But from 18:00 to 9:00 just like u i don't take company calls i just let them RING the hell out
if it would be my own simcard... i think i would stop taking his phone calls even in work time. There is a place where work has to stop if not they should give your more money
there is a program called smart filter can fit ur requirment
it can block what no. u need and have profiles and i think it have option of timed profile too
Where can I find this program?
Thanks

I dont know if it helps, but try to disable the notification for new sms.
ill try that... but i do still want sound
think im jus outta luck, ill jus have to deal w/ it.
it bothers the hell out of me too.
i wish there was a fix.
In order for there to be a "fix," it has to be broken first. This is how it was designed. When you get a message the phone wakes and receives the message. Therefore, the screen lights up. So there is no "fix," its functioning as designed. Though if anyone knows of "tweak" you may be able to change it. But I really don't think there is a way.
wow dude lol i couldnt care less about terminology... its a problem for me and its annoying so i want a fix for the problem
Blackberry knows wut theyre doing , jus makes the noise and screen stays off!! lol
o well ill live

There you go again asking for a "fix" to the screen lighting up. The point I'm trying to make is that this is like going to Ford and saying every time I turn the Wheel to the Left the car goes Left. Can you fix that?
Also, I would think that preventing the Screen from Coming on when the Device is "doing something" would prevent it from coming on when you wanted to.

cant believe we r goin this far about a word, but im not quitting!!
Definitions of fix...
1. to repair; mend.
2. to put in order or in good condition; adjust or arrrange: She fixed her hair in a bun.
3. to make fast, firm, or stable.
4. to place definitely and more or less permanently: to fix a circus poster to a wall.
5. to settle definitely; determine: to fix a price.
6. to direct (the eyes, the attention, etc.) steadily: His eyes were fixed on the distant ship.
7. to attract and hold (the eye, the attention, etc.).
8. to make set or rigid.
9. to put into permanent form.
10. to put or place (responsibility, blame, etc.) on a person.
11. to assign or refer to a definite place, time, etc.
12. to provide or supply with (something needed or wanted): How are you fixed for money?
13. Informal. to arrange or influence the outcome or action of, esp. privately or dishonestly: to fix a jury; to fix a game.
14. to get (a meal); prepare (food): What time shall I fix supper?
15. Informal. to put in a condition or position to make no further trouble.
16. Informal. to get even with; get revenge upon: I'll fix him!
so from these examples it obviously means something doesnt have to be broken to be fixed. could mean many things, and im using number 2, adjust or arrange. like it says, doesnt mean the girls hair was broken, she jus didnt like it so she fixed it to make it better.
FIX my screen from lighting up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
haha
I think it is a problem. My back light goes on from an email and stays on till the battery dies or I notice it. I have to be careful and check it frequently or I get a dead phone by lunch. I need the backlight to do what I setup in the power settings - I think it should be turning itself off. It ain't.
u changed it under power settings and under backlight settings?? def shouldnt stay on toooo long!
ki think we are outta luck here. I have the same problem.
I just have to lock the device from having anything accidently turn on
look mr. mcgee, you are very right ("its functioning as designed"), but it's a poor design to say the least. (Fire the turd that came up with that design)
If someone sends me a message i'm forced to stop everything i'm doing so that my phone doesn't get into mischief and go calling other people without my knowing.
I usually have my phone in my holster with S2U2 running. If only there was a way S2U2 would not wake up for anything other than a phone call, but would still vibrate or ring you when you receive an sms or the like.
If someone could come up with a fix..(or excuse me)... a tweak..... I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
+1!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a poor design maybe for u and some other few people. The majority think its a good design. I cant seem to understand your problem. When someone sends me an sms and my phone is in my case(holster) and I dont want to read it, I just leave it and the backlight turns of itself. Where is the problem?

Pretty much exactly my point. It seems every month or so some person comes in and attacks the phone for doing what its supposed to. This is the second Light comes on when I get a SMS thread I've seen. Next people will complain because the phone is ringing when they get a phone call.
As for the person who's light stays on indefinitely after receiving a email you may actually have a problem. The phone sometimes will "stay awake" if there is some program running in the background that is misbehaving.

Thank heavens I am not the only one. I thought someone from xda made a secret competition and the winner will be the one that have the most complains on his phone. If u dont like your phone, buy another one that suites u better then this one. Sorry for being so b*tchy.

Phones and everything in life can always be more. In this case our phones could, and in my opinion should, be more customizeable. The reason they aren't is because if the phone user feels overwhelmed by the complexity of their device, they may not like it and will be less likely to buy another in the future, so from a marketing standpoint there is reason to dumb things down to a degree.
I, however, want as much customizeability as possible.
My girlfriend's Samsung i760 behaves different from my kaiser. On her phone SMS messages will NOT bring the phone out of standby (and turn the display on.) It does give the requested sound and/or vibration alert and flash the LED and display the message notification on screen (when you turn it on) for the set time periods, though. The i760 runs WM6 like our kaisers. My kaiser, as well as every other HTC device I've ever owned does take the phone out of standby and turn the display on for SMS, though. So this tells me there definitely is some software method of tweaking it so that it does what you want. I don't know what it is, but it would sure be nice of someone knew of a registry setting for it.
BTW, our kaisers take the phone out of standby for SMS and MMS (and phone calls, of course), but don't do so for emails. Every day email and SMS become closer to eachother to me in significance and importance, so why shouldn't they cause the phone to behave in the same way?

Interesting. I'm sure there is something that could be done. I'd be willing to look into it. But I'd need a Samsung i760 to see if I could pull any info or software from it. So if anyone has a Samsung i760 they'd like to give me for development purposes of course, I'd see if we could figure out how to make this happen.
BTW, My phone does turn on the screen when I get an email.

ok, good point. Have u tried some sms applications? Maybe they have the option to not to turn the screen on. (just a suggestion).
If this ever happens to you, you have a bad phone and should return it. I really hate it when MY phone wakes up and decides to randomly call someone in Hong Kong.
Seriously - I have to understand this - you really honestly think that your phone can wake up and call someone, or email someone, or SMS someone without you doing something?

Help!

Right this week something strange has started happening to my phone, I've had it for nearly 3 weeks and I love it!
So I'm on a call to someone and then suddenly I hear a beep and the call has ended, I take my phone away from my ear to see I'm in the settings menu and airplane mode has been enabled! The first time it happened I was like, strange, then the 2nd time I was like weird and now after the fifth/sixth time I'm like WTF is going on!!
Today is happened 3 times in half hour with same person, it's freaking me out!
As I'm a pretty logical thinking person I've come up with three different theories as to why it's happening...
1. Phone has developed a fault, either with sensor or software wise. (possible)
2. There is a shortcut whilst in a call to go to settings, that I didn't know about. (possible)
3. When I'm in a call, somehow and I say again somehow my ear slides the notification bar down, then presses the settings button in top right and then turns phone into airplane mode. Now the last two presses is possible, but the first one really?!? (Not possible)
So as I am in my 28 days exchange period I want to see if theory 2 is possible before I go back to my store and get it exchanged on the basis of theory 1.
Any advice is welcome!

So there isn't a shortcut to settings whilst in call then I assume as no one has commented, will get it exchanged this week then as that can only be the reason.

My Nightmare Z1 (calls not working)

So back in January the 10th I made the mistake of buying my lovely Sony Xperia Z1, and as soon as I took it out of the box and started calling people I started getting told that they couldn't understand what the hell I was saying. I was really happy with my phone otherwise, and didn't want to turn in the phone. So I waited for the 4.4 update hoping it would fix it. I waited for quite some time, because every time I checked it was just one week away from release or something like that.
Anyways, when the phone finally got released, it didn't fix a thing, (and made the notification pull down menu ugly as hell, lol)
So I turned my phone in for repairs. About 2 weeks later it was returned to me, no problems found. And I got it back in the same condition, just factory reset. Wonderful.
So I went back with it again, explaining it in further detail, that it was sporadic, only sometimes would my calls become really choppy, and nobody would be able to understand me. So we wrote a much more detailed report on what is wrong with the phone, explaining everything.
Once again I get it back, no errors found, but factory reset. Only now the camera locks up every time I take a picture, and the power off button won't work, the wifi is slow as hell, cant watch videos, streams, anything. And I keep losing the signal.
Anyways, I've turned the device in now for the third time, but I have a feeling itll get returned still broken as hell, or even more broken somehow.
I talked to the guy at the shop, and he said they couldn't give me a new phone, even a new z1, either, if thhey don't find an error.
In the beginning the guys at the place I bought the phone thought it was because of the place I lived (a mountain village in the middle of nowhere)
But now I've moved across norway into a pretty big city, and same issues wherever I go
So now I'm at the end of my ropes, I'm starting to think I should just leave it in my car as a GPS and keep using my nexus 4. That or tape it to my toilet and use it as a doo doo target.

Faulty button on Watch R

I was lucky enough to be given a LG Watch R for my birthday back in february.
Since then Ive used it as stock, no modifications. Love it.
Today, Im just about to start the dishes, Go to check what time it is by pressing the button, only to notice its sticking out more than usual....
Sure enough, the button has popped out. Im lucky as its still in warranty, but Im still devastated as I have no clue how it happened.
Has anyone else have this happen to them? had a look around, seems like its only me...
Ive had a good try to get it back in, there are no screw markings so cant screw it in. wont just "click" in.
The button still works whilst its in, screen on and off, power off ect. Im just glad I didnt wash the dishes before checking
How are LG with warranty/replacements? this is my first LG product (other than my old tv, served me 7 yrs no issues, un like their watches..it seems...)
(first my tv fails its firmware update, then my windows 8 fails to recognise my hdd, then my sim card beaks :allowing everything but inbound calls to function: giving me a heart attack thinking it was something id flashed.., And now my LG watch button popps out?!?! WTF, am I cursed with tech now?!!?)
Have since spoken to LG..
They seem to be helpful so far.
If you have never made a claim against LG before, All I had to do was call, give the Serial number for my watch, the date it was purchased, a simple description of the fault.
They I have had to email them with photos showing the fault along with a given Ref. They have advised a turn around of 7 days for the repair/replacement.
I hope they can explain why/how it happened, so I can avoid any issues in the future. As I haven't found anyone else with the same issue, it doesn't seem to be regular. But for the price were paying, I like to know its going to be ok for another 2 years.

I just had this happen to me on first day.. My fault for trying to wind the button like my wife's Apple Watch. Anyway a dab of crazy glue fixed it. I bought mine used so no warranty. If you have warranty go that route first. Just enough glue for the bottom of the button to contact the cell pad. Too much and you will freeze the button.
even though all looks 100% perfect I have decided to now treat this watch like it is not i167 rated for water. Basically I will keep it out of the shower and pool.
