From what I've seen, the notification peek on the Moto X seems really good. But how does this work in conjunction with a pattern/pin lock. I always use a pin/pattern. If enabled, does the peek notification still work even if the device is secured with a pattern? While it's a minor security/privacy issue that someone could read new information if the phone was stolen despite not being able to unlock the phone. I'm happy to take this risk on the basis that I could remotely wipe it/lock it down completely if it did get stolen.
Anyway, grateful for any information for those that have it.
I have a Pattern lock on my Moto X and Active Notifications still works. Regardless of whether you put a lock on the phone or not I pretty sure it will work, besides if you toggle the More Privacy setting; setting/active notifications/more privacy, Then only the messaging icon will appear or the email app icon will appear. If you're concerned about privacy that is.

I enable ambient display feature on my nexus 6 as it doesn't have an awesome pulse light like nexus 5.
However if I enable this feature it includes both wake screen when pick up and notification comes. But I suffered the problem of wake screen when the phone is in my pocket.
When the phone is waking even the scree is locked, you can still touch the notification bar and do the settings. I suffered many times when the phone is in my pocket, but the flash light is on or put the phone in airplane mode. It's very annoying.
Can someone tell me how to disable notifications bar when the phone is locked or disable wake screen when pick up feature but not wake screen when notification comes.
Thanks.

If you put security on your lockscreen, you can't touch anything from ambient display without putting in your pattern, pin, or password.
I think there are some other apps that have similar functionality, that have more options. AcDsiplay, DynamicNotifications, and NoLED among many others. I am not saying these are good, as I haven't used them. Just saying there are some other apps that can probably give you more options if that is what you are looking for.
Otherwise, if you are a custom ROM person, I wouldn't be surprised if someone makes more settings for Ambient Display eventually.

Thanks, I will try those apps and see how is going.
Also, could I ask how to put security on lock screen? Thanks.

I did set it and use pattern as screen lock but I can still touch the notification bar.
Do I need to select password or pin?
I upgraded via Muniz method to 5.0, meaning I can downgrade to 4.4.2 if I need to, but I'd rather try and stick with Lollipop. However, if I can't do a few specific things, I may be forced to downgrade. Perhaps y'all can help me out.
1. I hate the new notification system. I'd rather not have the annoying iOS type notifications on my lockscreen, but there's no way to just get the little icon in the top when getting a message or something. It seems you have to have that heads up stuff. Am I wrong? Is there a way to bring back just the icon at the top of the screen? Along with that, there's no way to dismiss the notification on the lockscreen while leaving an icon in the status bar. Overall, I'm just really really hating the notification situation.
With that said, when my phone is airlplane mode, which is most of the day at work, there's a damn heads up notification on my lockscreen telling me that even though there's also an icon in my status bar. Same with when Power Saving mode is on and when I'm connected to Wifi.
2. The trusted places seems to lack WIFI options, and even when connected to my trusted bluetooth device, I still need to swipe to unlock. On my old GS3 with Xposed, I had the No Lock Home module which didn't require the swiping, while also worked with Wifi and BT.
3. So far, I'm really unimpressed with the camera. Are there any cameras out there that have manual focus that WORKS on the S5? (Not totally a Lollipop issue).
4. Is there a way to get rid of the typing keyboard chooser in the notification panel?
I'm sure I could add more to this as I go on, but I feel like if I can at least fix the notification situation, I'd be ok for now until Xposed works (if it ever works) on TW 5.0.
Thanks!
Hi,
for some reason I am unable to expand any notifications whether in lockscreen or in the notification shade.
Anyone knows a solution?
Do you have lockscreen security enabled? Pin, password or fingerprint. I don't think you are able to expand notifications before the phone is unlocked.
Yeah I have fingerprint. But the problem does exist in the notification shade, too (after unlocking)
Hi,
I agree on the fact that the notifications should be expandable only when lockscreen is unlocked...
However, I'm a little annoyed by the fact that it seems impossible to dismiss the notifications from the lockscreen: I'm used to pure Android, and when I received an email, I was able to dismiss the notification from the lockscreen (without changing the "unread" status of the mail).
On MIUI, I didn't found this option...is that possible in any way ?
Thanks
Well I did some research and found out that they REALLY STRIPPED THIS from aosp.
No I am not kidding. Appearently it is only possible to expand them in the notification shade (after unlocking) USING TWO FINGERS.
WTF Xiaomi?!
EDIT: I found this, but couldn't test it yet because I don't have xposed installed currently:

EDIT2: Or maybe this will work:

Yep ridiculous 2 fingers to expand a notification. Impossible with one hand very well thought out Xiaomi!

Benzo Rom for the Nexus 6 running 5.1.1 Lollipop allows the ability to toggle a secure lock screen from the quick settings in the notification drawer. For example, from the launcher, I can pull down the notification drawer to access the quick settings panel and tap the lock screen option and it will automatically engage the lock screen even if there was a password/pattern/gesture/pin, etc. previously setup. If I tap it again, it will remove the secure lock screen.
My concern is that this feature was built into the custom ROM itself and I don't know an alternate solution to this. Is there any solution to achieve this?

I think starting in MM (6.0), Google locked down this feature in favor of the smart lock function. You can set a trusted place, trusted device (bluetooth or NFC), trusted face or unlock until it detects it's been set down (on body). More information
I think, because the intents/secure action has been removed, it's not going to be something offered as a quick tile. I'm not aware of a work around.
That said, it's possible a ROM like lineage might offer this type of functionality.

I am currently running Pure Nexus Android 7.1.2 and have done some extensive digging to realize that a lot of keyguard and lockscreen solutions for Nougat and Marshmallow aren't working at all.
Taskers keyguard toggle option as well as Secure Settings keyguard toggle and lock screen features are broken and not working.
Secure settings is pretty old and outdated as it's been well over 2 years since it's been updated. The only options left are Taskers AutoInput looks really painful and the only other option is SecureTasks. The thing with SecureTasks is that it's relatively new and hasn't been tested long term and the method to gain device ownership looks really sketchy.
Hi all,
I have recently got myself an Honor Play and now some problems have manifested.
In particular, the lack of notifications bothers me more than anything.
So what is happening is:
When I get a notification, it might turn up in notification center, but it's not on the lock screen, neither is there a badge on the app.
I've read in some threads, that the battery management might cause this issue, so I turned it off for all the apps I expect notifications from.
Still nothing. Interestingly, I do get notifications from some apps, even on lock screen, but not all of them.
I don't use face unlock, just fingerprint. I also replaced my launcher with Lawnchair and my stock swipe gestures with Fluid NG, if that matters.
I come from an iPhone, where I'm used to having notifications pop up on my lock screen or on top of the screen, if my device is unlocked.
So I would like to have the same functionality here. I did read, that EMUI hides older notifications, but that I can live with.
But having no notifications at all is kind of a problem.
Anyone got around to solving this issue?

Ok, so a small update from my side regarding this.
I'm not saying the problem is completely solved, but I would say most of it.
So coming from iOS, I was used to apps sending me notifications after I gave them permission.
However, it seems that you need to enable notifications in the settings of the app itself.
Especially news apps require that... So that fixes that.
Some apps seem to just have errors or bad implementations.
There is an app which should trigger a reminder at a specific time and I just can't get it to work.
So I would put this down to the app just not doing what it should.
Otherwise I think I have most of the notifications I need.
So the moral of the story, check all of your app's settings first ...
