Is there any application available, that turns on wifi at defined time and start sync apps(likes whatsapp)?
I'm using "Silence" to turn wifi on automatically at certain times, but as sometimes my phone is idle (deep sleep) it keep that way and doesn't start the connection...
Try tasker. I'm sure you could make a profile for it. But be warned, there's a bit of a learning curve.

Tasker can deffinately do this but if you want something more intuitive and with the same then i would also recommend Automagic.

Personally i used Tasker for a long time til i found Automagic and imho its much easier to setup and configure and also has much more trigger and action options then tasker (but this could be subjective on my part).

That is a app i downloaded from the market. It basically turns off wifi when it disconects from wifi( saving u battery) and it only turns on wifi periodically or at a set time to automatically reconnect with wifi. Used it today and it worked like a charm. The big plus was it saved me a ****load of battery power. Only complaint is that the settings were kind of confusing but the developers website cleared up the confussion.
U guys should check it out especially if u always forget to turn off ur wifi when ur not using it.
(Also it turns off wifi when the screen is black and the phone is locked)

There is a far superior app for such a thing. Tasker. You can do so many things using different triggers. Besides WiFi on when plugged in, you can have it launch desk clock when plugged in and its left side. I've got one setting that will enable GPS, wait 1 one second, launch GPS Tracker, then display the home screen anytime it gets an sms from a particular source with a specific message in the text. Another useful setting is to kill the phone app at the end of the call. Instead of leaving you on the phone screen it takes you to the home screen. That way you are less likely to redial your last number. Another good one is to turn on GPS anytime you launch navigator or maps.
You want the phone to automatically call the local library if you place the phone face down between 4:36am and 10:03pm while plugged in USB on odd numbered Thursdays in months without an R? Tasker can do that.

I puzzed why entering navigation (Google or Premium...same issue) doesn't automatically turn on the GPS and disable it on exit. The car panel setup allows for automatic turn on of bluetooth, but again no automation of GPS turn on/off. So I'm wondering if there an app out there, that will turn on GPS when charged and disable it again when disconnected from the charger? That would do the trick IMO.
Also, if anybody knows of an app that will automate syncing of the standard accounts (i.e. stock, exchange, facebook etc.) depending on time of day and weekday, I'm very interested? Exchange ActiveSync could be ex. be synced "upon new mail" during 8-17 and in user defined, reduced intervals (hourly, every 2 hours etc.) or completely off for the rest of the day/night. You might want to get updates on facebook, gmail, sense, news etc. a couple of times during workhours, but then more frequently when off work. You might change setting for the weekend and hollidays. Could be a very neat app - if it's out there?

If you leave GPS enabled then when you open nav software it turns on and when you close it it turns off, there is no extra battery drain from leaving it enabled all the time, at least none that I have found.
I don't think many people appreciate this. Lots of posts about GPS disabled to save battery life. As you write, on GPS-aware apps turn on GPS so the battery drain is minimal.
My experience of the Desire HD is that the GPS and wi-fi radios are very efficient in terms of battery life but the 3G radio is absolutely and utterly fecking terrible and runs the thing down at an astonishing rate. HTC need to re-engineer this software urgently.

+1 for Tasker.
I don't use it to turn GPS on/off as you don't need to - just leave it enabled and it'll only be called upon when an app needs it.
What I do use Tasker for though is turning auto-sync on and off depending on the time of day. I believe that is similar to what you're looking for?

Will try to leave the GPS on to check if it in fact doesn't affect battery drain unless called upon by an app.

Hi guys! We have had reports of the app having issues controlling the wifi scanner and background data schedules on some devices.
We really need testers with root (but its not necessary if you just want to test the wifi scanner).
You can get some info on the app below. But what we really need is some testing! You can download it for free and then try using the wifi scanner and intervals, as well as the background data schedules.

Did you have a chance to test as described above?
I've purchased the app and have been testing it for a about a week with root access enabled.
Currently using only the screen profiles since working with multiple profiles enabled seems to overwrite my screen profile settings. It would be nice to have some more options like for example only using the scheduler settings when the screen is OFF, this way I could use both.
I'm currently having a lot of problems with the app though which is making it not as useful as it could be.
Biggest problem would probably be that the app loses focus after a while. It just stops working all together until I reopen the app, then it works fine again for a while before I have to repeat the procedure. Similar apps use a notification in the status bar to keep the app alive, maybe this could fix it?
Another big problem I've come across is some weird behavior with syncing. First I had my "Screen Off" profile set to "Sync Disabled" and "Screen On" "Sync Enabled". This would result in my phone starting to sync as soon as my screen would get turned on. I noticed similar behavior with setting it to "scheduled". So now I just disabled sync on all profiles because this is costing my almost as much battery as the app is saving.
I've also noticed some issues when I spent a long time configuring the settings. For example yesterday I was testing some different configurations. I then got to playing with the "Activation times" for enabling or disabling wifi/data and when I set it to 30 seconds it would still use the previously set 0 seconds value. I then cleared app data from Android application settings, set the value to 30 seconds again and it would work. This is a minor issue because I will probably just set these once and not fiddle around with it anymore.
I will continue testing for now but if the first 2 problems remain I will have to fall back to using Easy Battery Saver app. I would love to keep using the Chief though, I really like the concept.
I'm using a SGS2 running on CheckRom RevoHD6 (GB2.3.6), tried different kernels with similar results (stock, neak, redpill). Also wiped my phone and did a reinstall of CheckRom but also this didn't help.

I bought this one hoping it would do what I wish... But now I am not quite sure.
I just want an application that toggles on/keeps it for a while/toggles off autosync in given periods. Yes, this program can do it but I am unable to prevent it to switch my Wifi on.
Wifi checkboxes are unchecked, only scheduled autosync state is set as I wish. But it keeps turning Wifi on while I am at home, I can't override it off manually.
Hi, I've just downloaded this, I'll try it out as much as I can tomorrow. Hopefully if this conserves battery well enough I'll want to keep this phone more

Just saw this app...looks like it may be making a comeback with some new developers. I just DL it and am in the process of testing it out... will post some results soon...

I've been having some really weird Wifi behaviour since 4.2.1.
I'm using stock Rom, rooted, and I have Wifi sleep policy set to "only when charging", so it should go to sleep when idle.
I think something is waking it up, not sure what. And it's struggling to go back to sleep (or at least this is what it looks like).
Attached is the really weird graph of the battery stats, you can see an example of how Wifi is switching on/off like crazy. Also attached BBS logs from idle. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like maybe a rogue app doing something to wake,maybe a sync issue.Try shutting off auto sync and see if it helps.

Id maybe start with obvious ones like facebook and apps that have wifi permissions.I cant really say as I dont know what you using.Also if you are using an email client that accesses wifi to sync.

I've found Wifi doesn't turn off for 5-15 minutes and sometimes NEVER since ICS. I personally use Tasker to turn off wifi at screen off, but Green Power or Setting Profiles Lite are two other options to do this, and actually do it.
IMO, if your device is going into deep sleep, it should be fine for battery and otherwise.
As far as the Wi-Fi behaving that way, look at Google maps, latitude and location reporting. They're the problems for me and I'm working on them as well.
Try diagnostic apps which tell you which app is using your Wi-Fi and check it out..

I have a new Note5 and overall I like it.
As you might expect I have been working feverishly to find up to date app solutions for my usage model and that will work on an unrooted device. I despise all that conspire to force this upon us! Anyway I have been testing loads of apps and somewhere along the way something has been set to vibrate to indicate something. It is happening at fairly random intervals and nothing shows on screen or in the pull down that accounts for it.
I have looked for events that are pending, past due, etc. I don't get many texts. So, it isn't that. I have even turned on airplane mode which should prevent any kind of updaes or pushes that might trigger an notice.I have checked all of the apps I am using and none are set to vibrate only. From the initial turn on of this phone I have run package disabler pro for Samsung. Using a basic list from this xda thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/general/guide-bloating-touchwizzing-note-5-t3184563. I have restarted the phone several times as well
Can anyone suggest some kind of system monitor/logging app that I can load that will allow me to find out which application is triggering this? Is there some other way I can find out what is triggering this event? I expect that a logging app will eat battery more but on a temp basis that would be ok.

If you are talking about how it vibrates when you first pick it up for seemingly no reason, then that's a feature. It's to let you know you have notifications. It's called smart alert, you can disable it in the gestures menu.

But no. This happens when it is sitting undisturbed. I will check and turn off that feature if it isnt already so it isnt adding to the confusion.
If I didnt say, I find no idication of active alarms or notifications.

Do you have any Bluetooth devices connected? I had a smart watch with my S5. Every time it connected or disconnected, the phone would vibrate. This was especially annoying when I left the watch in the bedroom while sitting in the living room with my phone. Every few minutes it would connect/disconnect and the phone would vibrate.

Actually, I think I can say for certain no. This has happened in airplane mode.
That is why I am looking for a system logging application or some equivalent method.

Hi, Go to settings and go to S Pen Option, and turn off all S Pen alerts, including power saver one.

I have the same problem. It would just randomly vibrate. I think is something to do with Google notifications.
