AFAIK they are in the kernel and cannot be edited... Unless you want your batterystats.bin.... Which I think is in /system/bin/

Original Apps from Stock (Not A Request)

Mods, please sticky.
I'm getting tired of asking for APKs of stock files, so I have ripped apart the original system.img, and uploaded it to my MediaFire. This should contain all of the APKs from /system/app. Upon request, I'll rip some other ROMs apart and upload the apps from them onto MediaFire.

You can also just download the slidemeroot.zip rom, which is everything stock and copy the apk's right out of the zip file.
But now you don't have to download the entire ROM for a single APK.

I also have all of the stock apk's uploaded on my web server, but it's probably not a good idea to be redistributing them for anyone to download. Something about distribution of copyrighted works... etc...

@christinaz:
That would be like killing XDA for hosting custom ROMs modified off originals.

Are you using an odex'ed rom? (are there .odex files in your /system/app/ folder other than the ones you just copied over there?)

It's the ROM. I believe I either unyaffs'd or flashed, and pulled before booting the first time. I just re-unyaffs'd again to make sure, and yes, most, if not all, apps go have an odex.

Well I created a similar thread to this a while back and was basically told that I shouldn't post that kind of stuff.. but hey... this is XDA after all.

We'll see what happens, but, like I said, I doubt the mods would ask everyone to remove their cooked ROMs containing any APKs.
I'm looking for the original media (ie: notification sounds and ringtones) can someone point me in the right direction?
How does one install these?

Download one of the stock/ota roms. They're in the system/media/audio folder.
How do I unpack the IMG file inside the zipfile?
--> I should have done a google search first:

[Q] How to extract kernel.sin to make ramdisk?

This question is more for devs, but anyone can answer it. So I can convert kernel.sin to boot.img with SIN2IMG, but how to extract it? All linux scripts give me errors about Android header or something else. Do I have to use HEX editor?
I found clean ramdisk from bootloader bypass thread, but still like to know. Please. doixanh?

Too late... Only moderator can move it.
Moved to Q&A.
Anyway, this kitchen is what you need http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246 , it can extract boot.img,.
There is another way to do it but this one is the more simple.

The one you introduced:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552435&highlight=deodexed+lc1
It's a self-extracting archive for Windows. Someone should have explained that; as I'm cautious of downloading *.exe's too.

It seems self extracting exe only.

Here is not the correct section. There is a section to ask for help, don't be lazy and try to find it by yourself.
