So, after having the Gear for a few days now, one thing that seems to be a glaring omission to me is that there is no indication of notifications on the watch face/home screen.
I can't just flick my wrist and look at the watch to know if I have a notification.I have to swipe to the left to get to the Notification page.
I was riding my bike today and wasn't sure if I got a notification. It would have been nice to just glance at the watch and know instead of having to stop and swipe to check.

I agree, we need a mod to have at least a badge @ home screen with number of unrerad notifications
Hopefully one day we'll get a custom watch face program (with tasker integration)

Well, I finally made the switch from iOS to Android. But there are a few things I miss about it, albeit little things.
I have no idea what's good and what's bad in the Play Store, what to avoid etc.
I'm used to having notifications on the lockscreen. Yes, I've realised I can pull down the notification bar when on the lockscreen, but AFAIK that's only if you don't have a password/pattern/face-recog.
I've also tried the 'Productivity', that doesn't show Skype messages, Tweets, WhatsApp messages and stuff like that.
I also have a 4-digit pin for my lockscreen, I'm used to typing in the PIN then it'll automatically unlock.
But on Android (or on Sense, anyway) I have to type it in, then press enter.
Like I said, they're little things. But things I miss nonetheless.
So! Is there anything I can do/change or anything I can install to 'fix' these things?

I understand that you're missing the things you've been used to for a long time but at the end of the day this phone isn't an iphone and it's not pretending to be either.
For me if i want to know who's contacted me i unlock my phone and check, it's that simple. In all fairness, if a lockscreen can give away information then it's a lockscreen that's not doing it's job, i want my info to be private until i want to use my phone, otherwise anyone could just open it and take a look.
I'm sure that you'll find that after a while you'll see why people use android over ios and if you ever make the switch back to ios you will miss android so much it'll just make the iphone look stupid.
As a rule of thumb i always go for paid versions of apps and avoid any with aggressive ads, so anything that installs something else with it has to go, If anything has notifying ads then again it has to go.
Generally speaking that's about it with the apps, just go nuts.
There are tonnes of "Best app" threads on XDA and majority of them are in the top 100 apps on the play store anyway.
Afaik there isn't a way to have iphone style scrolling of your notifications.
You do get missed calls and texts on your lockscreen though (the productivity switch is probably the place to go to turn most of these on)
It can be done goto your messages go to settings it will be in there something like display message on screen same for WhatsApp and so on
Exact same problem over here. Coming from iOS and being used to get everything I need to know right there on the lockscreen.
There are some apps on the Playstore that you can use as a workaround though.
First, don't hesitate to use Notifypro, it will send you a little notification like you could get on iPhone. Notification will appear everywhere, in a game, a video, etc etc. Easily configurable and useful. Plus it's free !
Next, I tried it but didn't like it that much, it's Notification LockScreen Widget. I'm not really fond of it, there must anoter app doing it better...but I can't try anothere one since my phone has been shipped for warranty.
There are 2 settings on the security section in settings, one to show message notification preview and one to show phone notification on the lock screen. Try those...

I've just realised how true this is now.
I've had to resort back to my iP4 while my One gets replaced, it's only been gone a few hours and I'm missing it already!
Same thing here. Was an ios user since iPhone 2g (the most beautiful one imho). This is my first Android phone after getting a nexus 7 last summer.
For me there's just some handiness in some of the functionality built into ios. What I "missed" was the batt status in percentages, volume control from headset and also the notifications.
Found these three apps:
Notification toggle
Can put a batt percentage in the statusbar. And also some very handy quicklaunch buttons in the notification tray like android 4.2.2. and touch wizz.
Jays headset control
The name says it all and it gets the job done.
LockerPro
It's a locks screen replacement which also shows notifications like ios.

Thanks for this info. I'm coming from a jailbroken iPhone 5 and I want the quick settings toggles on the lockscreen.

Thanks for the apps, and welcome to the forum!
Thanks, and np. That's why we're here right? To find and share!
Cheers!

cheers KH_; can I ask, is it stable for you? lots of reviewers saying it crashes quite often?
Apologies for the late reply mate.
Locker pro works really well! It's great being able to see ur notifications and actually read the content from the lockscreen! The app has a shortcut and widget panel accessible from the lockscreen too.
Jays headset control didn't work at all on my device so deleted it. I got the HTC metal three button headset. Good price, sound at least as good as headset supplied with the phone, skip tracks and volume control!

Im new to the Moto X and I can not figure out how to cycle between new active notifications. I will have an icon for multiple notification types but I can I only preview the newest one. Is it possible to cycle between them without waking up the entire screen?

i have been curious about this as well...
Unfortunately, the active notifications only gives a preview of the newest notification at the top and a small preview of the second newest on the bottom. Hopefully they will release an update that enhances the usefulness of active notifications.
X
i also wondered if you could just swipe to the left or right to remove one of the notifications. I have done that a few times and the other notification stayed while it only removed one but then most of the time all the notifications are removed from the one swipe.
I believe the idea is that you're supposed to use Active Notifications as notifications come in. You can glance at, take out, or pick up your phone to preview and decide if a notifications needs your immediate attention on a case by case basis.
If you need to look through multiple notifications, and you have the time to do so, then unlocking your phone and using the notification shade would be far more efficient than fiddling around with various gestures to preview each notification. If they did add more gestures to cycle through all of your notifications, that would just take away from the simplicity of the feature.

While I agree with the simplicity of it. It was also built to save battery by not bringing up an entire display every time you got notifications. So it only lighting up certain pixels saves battery for me to look at multiple notifications as opposed to lighting up the whole screen. I'd still like more gestures as an option at least.
Hi, just got my Pebble earlier and firmware upgraded to 2.0.1.
Hope someone can help to answer some of my questions :
1. For Whatsapp, is it that the notification will only show the group name?
2. How can I delete the old notifications?
3. How do I know when to stop charging? Don't think there's a indicator.
4. When at night in my car, after a notification comes in and backlight goes off, which button should I press to see the notification on the screen?
Thanks in advance.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
1 I don't use Whatsapp so I can't answer.
2 There is no delete option. I guess they delete on their own after a while.
3 Some watch faces have battery indicators that show the charge level. I think it only takes a little over an hour to fully charge the watch.
4 To get the screen to come back on flick your wrist or tap the screen. A safe button to press would be either up or down.

>> Get Notification center instead. It has a watch app and phone app.
Once installed, go into the settings of the original Pebble app and disable all notification options.
Then go and configure Notification center so that it is set to exclude - then use the next pages to exclude any apps you don't want to notify your watch.
I'd recommend setting quiet times so you don't get woken while sleeping.

Or, install Notification center as per above. It allows you to clear from "active" and they move to "History".
If you have Android 4.3 or higher it can clear notifications from your phone - and vice versa if viewed on your phone, it will clear from the Pebble.

I was wondering if any one knew of an app that would blink the capacitive home screen button when you have a notification. I have looked around on the play store to no avail. I have never developed anything for android. I have got myself setup to begin designing an app that will basically turn the home button into a notification light while the screen is off. If anyone knows of an app that can do this or would like to help please let me know.

I know this is nothing even close to what you are looking for, but I found it useful on another phone that didn't have a notification led.

If you could update with what it was that you found usefull that would be great. Thanks. I am looking for anything close to posibly even take ideas from.
It shows a small icon on the screen for different notifications, which if I remember correctly are all customizable. So it's a persistent icon on the screen letting you know about missed calls, texts, unread emails, or whatever you set it up for. It only uses a tiny amount of screen, and therefore backlight. Back when the Android phones first came out a lot of them didn't have leds for notifications. I don't remember having a big hit on my battery at the time from the program.

Ill have to check it out. I have used a few like that and they didn't act right, made the screen act weird. Thanks for the suggestion.

I just got the Turbo today, and I will try it out too. I know it was a lifesaver when I had my Samsung Captivate.
A nudge or a wave shows moto display, I think it's the natural evolution of a notification led
I know but i wish it didn't. I have the wave turned off but i cant turn the nudge off. I only want it to display if there is a notification. If there is nothing it should just wait patiently. But that's just me.

Now see I'm the opposite I want it to show more like battery %. I don't wear a watch anymore and love active display for checking time.

NiLS in the Play Store will but notifications on the lockscreen... however you will have to disable Active Display and go with the normal lock screen.

That could work, thanks.

I'm thinking it just hasn't been a big concern of theirs. It bothers me from time to time. For instance I can't always grab it and swipe it away because it's not really located where it shows it... But I've just come to live with it, been almost 2 years now.
