Power supply Chromecast - Google Chromecast

As it is with the power of the Chromecast?
I have no USB-port on the TV and have the Chromecast now connected to the receiver. But he is constantly powered. But even if I turn off the receiver and he is in standby mode.
is it ok if the stick constantly gets power.
How do you do it?

Gets warm, and it can always be found.

So you think he can be quiet warm and I do not always have to remove the cable for the power?

If you leave it plugged in to the enclosed power adapter the app will all ways be able to find it. And depending on your tv it will turn on when you cast. My computer is not in the same room as the TV when I cast a chrome tab I don't have to worry about finding it. Most of the time the TV will switch to the chrome cast.

LG Thrill HDMI Out cord

I just picked up a Thrill and tried hooking it to my TV and it keeps saying no signal. Is it I have a bad cord or is there a setting I need to put the Thrill on to mirror it to my TV? I don't actually need to mirror it, I just wanna watch movies from it on my TV.
Please HELP!!!!

just hook it up
I did that and I got nothing and I don't have another cable to test if that is the problem.

That happens to me sometimes. Try changing the input while connected and go back to the hdmi input your connected to. Or turn the tv on then back on. It can also just be that you have to play with the cable connection

I tried changing thru the HDMI channels and no luck. I also tried playing with the cord but nothing. I didn't try the TV off and back on yet but I will. You think it might be just a bad cord or a bad phone? Cause the phone functions fine besides the HDMI out.

i have to go through the hdmi option on the phone for some reason when mine is set to automatic it wont work yet if i choose 1080p or 720p it works fine hope this helps
press the power button to sleep the phone and then power it back on and see if it shows anything. If i plug it in while the phone is displaying then it doesn't show anything until i do this.

We have a couple more months till we upgrade TVs to get a HDMI capable TV. Would there by any issues with getting a converter to RCA jacks from the HDMI cable out from the phone?
If you find somewhere that sells Micro HDMI to RCA let me know. I mean I could always go to DVI but I would lack the sound.
From what I recall the actual device required to convert from hdmi to rca is quite expensive....it requires some sort of signal processor box...
but I could be wrong.
http://hdmitorca.net/
It does require a processor box, because you need to transfer Digital signal (HDMI) to Analog signal (RCA). That's why You won't find just a simple hdmi-rca cord.
the converter boxes can range from cheap to expensive depending on quality, and if you are looking to scale up or down. IMO with down scaling quality is not as important as with up scaling.
I cant seem to get my hdmi to work either I guess i'll try some of the suggestions here
Any other suggestions, I cannot get it to work and I tried all the suggestions here, Do I need to be in a specific program for it to work?
try Post #7 on fist page of this thread. also some tv's don't pick up automatically what is being broadcast as far as the signal. you may have to play around with your hdmi output settings to match your tv.
Some hdmi tvs have to have a firmware upgrade i cant connect my fios tv box to mine without doing an upgrade according to the fios guy i gotta use the old rca style hd cables

Not Auto Turning On TV

Anyone having an issue where the Cc is not turning on your TV when you cast content?
I set mine up the recommended way with the power adapter powering it instead of one of the USB ports on the TV. I have a year and a half of Panasonic plasma TV that supports HDMI 1.3a.
I was trying to show my wife how it worked in the demo but I instead got laughed at. Is there some other standard I should check to see if it's the TV or the Cc or a setting/config I missed?

The ability to change the input is found on HDMI 1.4 and higher I believe
Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk HD
Well that sucks if that's the case. I reread the instructions and it seems that I was wrong. The recommended method is to use the USB on the TV and not the charger. I'll give that a whirl and hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised.

The CEC function is not HDMI version specific (it was defined in 1.0, though there have been revisions since).
Do you have the CEC feature enabled on your television set? The name varies by manufacturer (list lifted from Wikipedia HDMI article, CEC section): Anynet+ (Samsung), Aquos Link (Sharp), BRAVIA Link and BRAVIA Sync (Sony), HDMI-CEC (Hitachi), E-link (AOC), Kuro Link (Pioneer), CE-Link and Regza Link (Toshiba), RIHD (Remote Interactive over HDMI) (Onkyo), RuncoLink (Runco International), SimpLink (LG), T-Link (ITT), HDAVI Control, EZ-Sync, VIERA Link (Panasonic), EasyLink (Philips), NetCommand for HDMI (Mitsubishi).
Also, I'd guess you should power it using an external adapter unless the television provides power to ChromeCast even when on standby.
mikejr83, I have a brand new LG 47LA6200 and I have the same problem. Chromecast does not turn on the TV when I try to cast a moving or video. Simplink is on.on the LG TV and I have tested it that it works with my LG Blu-ray player.
My Chromecast does turn on the tv when I push content to it. Does it turn off when idle though? i haven't left it on and not-casting for long but if it doesn't turn off then that would really suck. At the very least it needs to kill the hdmi signal so my tv will auto-turn off. I'm testing this on the Sony Playstation TV. I will then test it on my sharp aquos in my living room to see if it works there.

AV Receiver setting

I have chromecast plugged into my receiver and want to play music through it without the TV on. I have been messing with the receiver settings but can't figure it out.
Control HDMI off - auto power on tv but receives now signal from receiver.
Control HDMI on with sub setting...
HDMI Passthrough off - auto power on the receiver and tv. turn off tv, receiver turns off as well.
HDMI Passthrough auto or on - auto power on the tv (reciver stays off)
I realize that this will vary with different av receiver models (mine is a sony d520). Any ideas?
Just a simple thought, because it is how I have mine hooked up, but are you powering your chromecast through your TV?
Edit: I unplugged the power for my Chromecast through my TV and plugged it in a desperate outlet. I am currently listening to Play Music through my receiver with my TV off.

I'll have to check when I get to the house.
Another thing to check is if your TV is able to turn on with an input such as Simplink, Anylink, etc. Each name changes depending on TV. Try turning that feature off in your TV menu.

Thanks that did it for me. I obviously have to manually turn on the tv now but I figure if I want to watch something I am near the remote. In my case turning off cec on the tv as well as turning hdmi pass through off on the receiver gave me the setup I wanted. Now I can turn music on from anywhere in the house and have chrome cast turn the receiver on and play through the receiver.

Glad it worked. I have it setup as an option on my universal remote but when I'm just doing music I just have the receiver on.

[Q] Turn TV Off after done with Chromecast

I really like how the Chromecast can turn my TV to the correct source and turn it on when I start casting. But is there a way to tell it to turn the TV off when I'm done with it. For example I'm using my ipad to start a movie on Netflix and cast it to the Chromecast. Everything works good. But I left the TV remote next to the TV. Is there a way to turn the TV off from the ipad or a computer with the Chromecast that way I can literally leave my TV remote in a drawer and never have to tough it?
I don't believe chromecast is capable of that. The device you're using has to have an IR blaster to be able to turn the tv on and off. Most new high-end androids have an IR blaster (G2, Note 3, S4, One).
Sent from my JEE TWO
If you have Verizon fios they have an app that goes through your router that you can change tv don't need IR, since it uses wifi.

The CEC Power off command is usually sent as part of the power down sequence of the device tat is sending it.
Pull the plug on the TV and it will not send a power down command to other devices on the CEC Network but hit the power Button and it will.
Since the Chromecast never really powers down (it does restart) it is difficult to know when it should send a power off command.
It would not be good to have it send one after every stream is done because most people aren't done watching TV after every stream completes.
Better would be if the CCast would send a Change Input command to go back to the last input before it took over (No command for that in CEC that I know of) so that if you streamed something when the TV was seeing the Cablebox, It would switch to CCast Input when it had a stream and then would switch back to whatever input it was on before CCast took over the screen.
That would be much more useful than a power off command which is great only when you want to watch one stream and then nothing else.

Huh? The Chromecast can already turn on and change inputs on some tvs using HDMI CEC. It is most likely a design decision not to turn the tv off when it disconnects.
My TV has an option in the menu to auto switch inputs when it detects activity on one of them through HDMI. So when I turn my bluray on the TV will detect that and switch to INPUT 3 and preempt my satellite input. It's kind of a pain that when I insert a bluray into the player it auto switches even if I'm not ready.
-- EDIT: nevermind, that was an older TV. New one doesn't, so it's HDMI CEC (VieraLink for mine) as bozzykid said.

It'd be nice if there was a manual option... Maybe an option when you long click the chromecast button...

I would rather they just made a TV Remote app for CCast to control the whole damn thing! LOL
I pull the USB plug (which supplies power) when I'm done watching.

While I watching a stream on Chromecast, Google Android smartwatch with Chromecast control popped into my head as I picked up the smartphone to pause Netflix for a snack break.

Chromecast (and only chromecast!) makes my TV repeatedly turn on and off by itself

I have a LG 42ld450 TV that seems to not like my Chromecast very much. Whenever I plug it from either HDMI port, it just goes berzerk for no reason and turns on and off repeatedly. Sometimes it eventually proceeds to display the stream as normal for hours, sometimes it just lasts a little while before resetting over and over. It seems to be entirely random. I have disabled CEC to no avail. It works fine with my other TVs.
Could it be an electrical problem? I have it connected to a power strip that is connected to a power cord that ends in two prongs (even though it has a three-pronged input). However, I doubt it could be this since it only happens when the Chromecast is plugged in.
Sounds like a TV issue more than a Chromecast one if it doesn't have any issues with any other TV
