notification questions - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I don't think this is possible, but now that we have root etc. I figured it was worth asking.
I like to have both texts & emails notify in my gear watch, but I only want sound for when a text comes in (I don't want the thing ringing every time an email comes in).
Is there any way to have sound for just the incoming text & phone ringers but not for new emails??

Hopefully sometime in the near future when sdk is released

[Q] I need a good Voicemail Notifier

Hi.....I need a good Voicemail Notifier
I don't know if this exisits, but I need a screen, or app, or wallpaper, or something that tells me when I have a voicemail. I don't like the basic notification that comes with the phone.
If there were something that had 4 big icons on the bottom or top of the screen, and next to each icon there would be a number, letter me know how many Texts I didn't read, or Calls that came in, or most importantly, how many voice mails I have. I miss so many calls because my phone will be out of range, and I wont even get a notification that a call came in, but 3 days later, when I'm checking voicemail, I see I got a call.
I'm don't mind pay for a good app/widget, I just need some help and suggestions. Anything with a BIG ICON indicator to let me know I have voice mails waiting.
I am using Android 2.3.7 - Miui 1.12.9
Thanks in advance!
Chaz
Missed It! has a built-in voicemail notification.

[Q] Notifications for Email

Hi there,
I am pretty new to Windows Phone. So far so good, I really like it. There are a couple of things that are bugging me however. One is that I am missing notifications for new emails. Other app are pushing notifications, however, my email accounts (exchange and IMAP) don't. Is this possible?
Regards
Michael
Under Settings / Ringtones & Sounds you can select the Notification sound for incoming E-Mails. If it is set to none you don't get notified. There are no Toast-Notifications for e-mails though.
Too bad... it was the toast notifications I was looking for. A bit annoying if you have the phone sitting on your desk at work, muted and nothing happens when you get a new email.
Thanks for your answer.

it should vibrate then. That's what my phone does when it's muted.

I disabled vibration because it is annoying for my colleagues as I get a lot of emails.
What is needed is the ability to add custom tones to incoming emails and SMS already, I don't know what the hold up is at Microsoft. The thing is that the default tones that it has all sound the same and are so low that if your to far away you won't hear them.

Notification Issues (MLB At Bat & CNN)

Hi. Long time iPhone user but new to Android as of two weeks ago. Bought the HTC One (AT&T) and am loving it so far.
However, I have been having issues concerning notifications through a couple apps. Specifically the MLB At Bat app and the CNN app. Let me start by saying that I have received notifications without issue when it comes to email, texts, and Facebook.
Now, with At Bat, I have notifications set up in the settings for the app (specifically for my favorite baseball team), and I technically do get notifications. What I mean by that is, if I happen to turn on my phone, I will see that a notification previously came in. However, I do not receive any audio or vibration feedback to accompany the notification. So, the phone doesn't actually alert me. The same case is true with the CNN app. In the settings for the app, I have set up to receive notifications for breaking news. Again, I technically get the notifications sent to my phone, so they will be there when I happen to check the phone for whatever reason. But when the notification is sent, I am not alerted in any way (no tone or vibration).
As I said before, I get notifications (accompanied with audio tone and vibration) without issue when it comes to emails, texts, and Facebook. I have scowered the system settings and the settings on the individual apps but everything appears to be in order. Thanks in advance for any help or direction you fine folks can provide.
edit: Also, I have uninstalled and reinstalled both apps, but nothing has changed.

Sony Smartwatch 2

works just fine with the Butterfly S
there arent a lot of apps yet and there are quite a few that are paid (which i'm fine with, as long as the price is right)
i get all the notifications i want on my watch, Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, calls, sms, i can even set who i want to get notifications from, so the watch doesnt get flooded
there also is a call handling app that can replace the stock one, adds functionality like reject call and send an sms. i've mailed the developer and asked if he can add reject call with whatsapp message, he's going to look into it
feel free to ask questions, will answer as quick and thorough as i can

can it tell the time?
Hi I have a couple of questions.
1. whats it like in direct sunlight, I remember the first one being horrible ....
2. When you get a notification does it pop up on the screen or do you just get like a badge notification. What I mean is say, for example, you got an sms, does the sms message pop up straight away so you can read it there and then, or do you just get a badge on the sms icon with a (1) notifying you that you have a new sms.
If you could let me know that'd be great
Cheers
1 - the screen has 3 states:
- standby, shows the time, without using backlight, readable inside, in direct sunlight it gets even more readable. unreadable in the dark.
- backlight on, shows the time with backlight, good for low light conditions or when its fully dark, easy to read in sunlight as well
- menu/apps/messages with backlight, same as the second one
so yes, its no problem using it in direct sunlight, both with or without backlight
2 - messages are displayed as text, with a little icon so you know if its a sms, mail, twitter, facebook, etc
ofcourse for longer messages, it wont show all the text, but it will show a text or twitter message in full (so 144 characters is the max)
there are some things that could be improved ofcourse
-i would like to be able to set the timeout for the backlight
-same thing for how long messages are displayed
-the remote camera app doesnt work, or doesnt work with the Butterfly S
-more watch faces
i will contact Sony Support to ask them about those issues

Google SMS - no audio notifications on always-on screen

The subject says it all -- I run Google Messages for SMS because I use messages.android.com pretty regularly. However, it doesn't play audio notifications in the always-on screen -- it vibrates and shows the icon. I've been through every setting I can find. It plays notifications if the screen is fully on.
I did use the LG app to move from a G6 to the V40, but I did a "clear data" on the Messages program afterwards since it had my contact/message history all mixed up. (Thought it was interesting that it was able to restore some of the messages after clearing -- I suppose T-Mobile has a certain amount of history stored.)
I've thought about asking in the Google product forums but support quality over there is dismal, at best.
I've had the same/similar experience and I'll clarify.
When the screen open and I'm already texting "in that thread" there is no sound, but it does vibrate.
However, it will audio a notification and vibrate if a text comes in on another thread.
BTW: I'm using Message+ through Verizon ... so we seem to be experiencing similar situations using different texting apps.
It behaves the same way when e-mailing. If I've got an e-mail thread open and another email comes into that thread, then it'll only vibrate, however, it'll make an audible sound and vibrate if it's a new e-mail or part of another e-mail thread.
Don't know why and can't find a solution. I don't care when it's a text-message as I see the screen move when the new text come in the thread I'm reading/typing in, yet it is an issue in e-mails as e-mails tend to be longer form and I forget to check for new replies in the thread I'm working in and have missed an e-mail or two.
A second part of this is that there's no visual notification in the Notification Bar if a text or e-mail comes in while I was in that thread ... again, not an issue with texts as I see the text-screen move with each newly received text, but it is a big deal with e-mails.
Being honest ... this isn't turning into the phone I hoped it would be. There's a lot of wonky things that are more disruptive than helpful. I've been offered $550 dollars and a great set of ear-bud to trade this phone in for the Galaxy S10 ... although it's as locked down as any new phone could/would be, I can get that deal directly from Samsung and get an "Unlocked" version so I wouldn't be handcuffed to Verizon anymore.
I'm SERIOUSLY considering it.

I agree with you on all that. I was super pumped about this phone and 3 months down the road it has been nothing but a HUGE disappointment. I've been asking $550 as well to get rid of it and go back to Samsung but no luck. Never going to LG again.
