Good day everyone,
Looking for a little assistance here. I have the ONE (m7ul) running the official CM nightlies last flash i did was Saturday October 19.
Everything was fine and i was charging the device and using winamp for some tunes. The device shut off on it's own and will not power on anymore. The led light will not even come on when charging on the wall charger or via usb.
I did talk to HTC and they had me hold the power button down while holding the volume rocker down for 3 complete minutes to no avail. which makes me think it is a hardware issue so sending it in for repair is most likely what will happen but does anyone know if it being rooted and running CM will matter? being that it is a hardware issue and not software..
any help would be appreciated.

What do you see when you connect it using usb?
Let it charge for a while and wait for the led to maybe turn on

Ya i tried that as well, it was on the wall charger for over 15 hours last night and still no led light. I did not leave it plugged into the usb for very long though, just to test it.
Do you think leaving it on usb for awhile might make a difference?
Thanks for your response too.

So basically no problems with my Xperia so far, there was a time it wouldn't charge properly but after 30 minutes in a wall socket it charged again.
Today my battery got empty and I thought it wasn't a problem, just connect it to a wall socket but unfortunately it wouldn't do anything, even after an hour. I tried plugging it in my computer to see if it would detect my phone, no connection sounds or notifications. I tried volume up + power button, still no sign of life.
I'm starting to believe the phone just hard bricked? Never had any problems so far so not sure what to do next.
Leaving on holiday soon so I can't afford to lose my phone at this moment.
Any suggestions?
PS: I didn't flash it or anything, just stock rom

I didn't since I don't own another one. I haven't had any problems with the charger or cable so far
Not sure on the firmware, still the same that came with the phone I assume, haven't done the upgrade to 4.2.2
I had a similar problem, the problem was the cable!with a new cable everything was fine

The phone was in my pocket and when I pulled it out it was dead. When I press the power button nothing shows up, no LED lights nothing. I've tried hard rebooting by holding Vol+ & Power at the same time even Vol- & Power but still nothing. Does anyone know what the problem is? It's been perfectly functional for a month till now.
If you plug it in to a charger for awhile do you see any lights?

I'll try as soon as I get back. I'm outside so also in sort of a bad place for the phone to die.

So I plugged it back and it worked. Should I get all the data off of this and send it in for a replacement anyways?

Funny Thread
Could it be that it was on without you knowing? The screen, that is. I have heard it and seen it make a change, forget to put it back, screen stays on, battery dies, etc. Maybe it was just an accident? Just keep tabs on it and see how you battery life is after you charge it again.

My HTC One stopped charging.
I am unsure what is wrong, but it will not charge from the wall, USB, and Power bank.
What is bizarre is that USB OTG is still functioning properly. I was able to back everything up using OTG before it ran out of battery.
Any help or suggestion would be appreciated.
Edit: So it turns out, it will charge when it is turned off, but very very slowly.
when i charge it while its off, the charging LED cycles from red to orange and then it turns off (which triggers the charging animation).

What Rom are you using. Are you using a custom kernal? I'm assuming you are using the stock charger that came with it?

I'm currently on MaximusHD, with its supplied kernel.
I've tried all sorts of charger, and none of them will charge it while its on.
The odd thing is, i haven't changed any settings. So I don't think its related to me messing around with ROMs and such.
This is odd... fastboot from the bootloader is working fine.
On my mac side, 'fastboot devices' is seeing my htc one and is replying with the correct S/N. while still in the bootloader my htc one is being displayed as 'Android 1.0' under 'system information'.
I honestly don't know what is happening, and I am currently in the middle of my exam week, so I'll be digging a little bit deeper after I'm done with my exams.
I haven't found anyone with a similar symptom as me on xda yet... so if anyone's got any suggestions, please chip in.
Thanks.
Sounds a bit odd. You said you tried different chargers. Did you try a different cable as well. You may have to try another Rom just to rule it out. Might be hardware related...

Yep, different cable as well.
Seems unrelated to the rom tho. As it will not charge in bootloader and or recovery.
I'm going to try to flash a different ROM when i'm done with my exams.
Also, would you think it would be safe for me to try and achieve s-off with only fastboot working? As i would need to remove the 'tempered' sign from the bootloader before bringing my phone to repair.
I don't know if this will be useful...
But here's the readout from fastboot getvar.
Yes absolutely s off your phone to remove it. Rumrunner or Firewater should work on that. Personally I'm not sure if changing roms would make a difference but probably worth trying

Would Rumrunner or firewater still work? I currently cant establish any adb connection... but fastboot is working tho.
Edit: I looked into firewater, which seems to be 100% adb dependent. So I guess firewater wont work.
I'm not sure about rumrunner tho... it seems to indicate that it'll check for an adb connection... but im not sure if it utilizes adb.
I recently had the same problem running Android Revolution 62, i didnt plug in my phone overnight and it completely ran dead and wouldnt take a charge at all, all i basically had to do was plug it in to the wall charger for like 10 minutes and hold the volume up and power button for a few seconds and BOOM! the little battery icon popped up on the screen and i was all set.
One thing im wondering about though is do you have to somehow reset your battery stats after this happens ??

Hey, thanks for the input.
My phone started having this issue on sunday. And i'm still able to use the device. The Issue i'm experiencing is that it will not charge while powered on, even in safe mode, bootloader, and or recovery. It just flat out won't charge. to make matters worse, fastboot is working fine in the bootloader, the pc is recognizing it. But as soon as i boot up, my PC and mac will not even recognize it. nothing is showing. The only time that its being recognized by the computer is when its in fastboot mode and for a few seconds while booting up, it'll be recognized as MTP device.
Have you checked that the drivers are installed in device manager. If fastboot works it's likely a driver issue

To be honest with you, i'm not sure if the driver is working (mac user). But even if the driver is installed incorrectly, wouldn't windows device manager thing still pick it up as a generic device? and from my understanding, the phone should still charge even without the correct driver.
Not for charging I was talking more about getting adb working to s off your phone. I think you should probably send your phone back

Well, the thing is, non of my computers are recognizing it via ADB (Macbook, Hackintosh, and Windows), so that pretty much rules out the driver issue. I am planning on sending it back, but I really should get rid of the UNLOCK and TEMPERED sign in hboot...
On another note, if i do bring it in for repairs, what approach should i take? Bring it in without any charge left and tell them it won't charge? or bring it in powered on, and use some other excuse (dead pixels, and or the purple tint) to get repaired?
Also, i've noticed that when I'm charging it while its off, the whole phone would heat up quite a bit (similar to medium/ heavy usage temperature| my estimate would be 40-45 celsius). And it charges really slowly, I would say around 10-20% per hour, while it would make sense to charge slowly, the charger(s) are also heating up quite a bit as well, almost like they're supplying 800-900mA of current.
I've just loaded the stock rom, and sadly, charging and adb is still not working.
any solutions to this? i am having same problem. its barely charging in adb, fastboot, or whether its on . somehow phone isn't charging at all.
My M8 won't power on the battery was drained out and powered off , got home put on charger over night and tried power it back on but won't power on it been 3 day still not powering on I held down the power button and volume up nothing and held down the power button and volume down and still nothing it won't power on at all any ideas can anyone help me with thise or might any other solutions or tips
Try a different power cord.
Sent from my 831C using XDA Premium App
sounds like it might need a jump charge, make sure you're using the htc charger and cord that came with the device. if you still cant get it to charge take it into a sprint store and tell em the phone died and cant be charged, they'll use some special thing to jump start it
On my friends LTE I googled something similar and found that on that phone u had to reset the battery charge logic by holding power, volume up, and volume down for 2 minutes. It started taking a charge after that. Might be with a shot?

Glad it fixed yours, my friends EVO is dead, she jumped off the HTC ship and got herself an s4 :/ lucky for me though because she doesn't feel the need to use her upgrade (47 days) and we are on the same account. So she said I can use hers instead of mine (228 days)

Okay so I usually charge my phone over night the other day I wake up check the phone and it wasn't charging. It keeps giving me the cannot charge in usb host mode. I know this has been posted a hundred times but I have read through the forums and tried every fix. Nothing works. Battery drains in a couple of hours with no use. My question is should I try to change the battery or the usb port? Has anyone had success with this? Or should I just sell it and get something else? Thanks for reading. Phone is not rooted completely stock. It does charge only when turned off, intermittently and only to about 98%.

But seriously you can unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery and do a factory reset / format data
then flash a rom it may come back to life.
Have you tried a factory reset from Stock recovery ?
boot to the bootloader choose recovery
then push volume up and tap the power button
it should show stock recovery and do the factory reset in their
Thanks for the reply but I have tried to factory reset. I can get to the stock boatloader screen but no matter what I choose from the menu it just freezes and I have to hold the power button to get it to turn off. I also get no response when connecting to computer. I talked to HTC service and they want the imei number which I can't get. I don't want to throw it out it was the best phone I've had but it sucks to have a $350 brick sitting on my table while I use my backup.

so your not able to put the phone in bootloader ?
volume down + power
in bootloader hook to the PC tap power one time you should be in fastboot USB ... the PC should make a sound and you will be in fastboot mode.
from your fastboot folder on the PC type fastboot devices you should see your phones serial number. then fastboot getvar all will display all your phones info
I can get to the bootloader screen but when I try to make any selection it just freezes computer doesn't make any sound when connecting. I've read a lot and can't seem to find any info. everyone who has a similar problem is rooted and has a bad flash or something where I'm completely stock. I'm starting to think it might be a mother board issue. Thanks I appreciate anyone trying to help.

Well if Hard resetting doesn't help and you can't issue fastboot commands I don't see what can be done.
I think it's probably hardware related though. A similar case recently where the phone would only charge briefly while turned off, fortunately the device was still functional, after flashing everything possible, finally ended up making it s-off and returning it to stock to send for warranty.
Maybe your fastboot problem is driver related but considering your bootloader is freezing I'd say it's a problem with the phone rather than drivers

probably hardware defect. You can have a brand new M7 from ebay for about 350$ so I don't think it worth the 350$ to get it repaired, just buy another one and keep that one for parts.

yeah, i tend to agree it's a hardware problem; if you've already tried the other fixes (including cleaning the phone's usb port, and trying a different charger & cable), then either your usb port is borked, possibly the battery, even maybe the internal connections.
sorry mate
