Since the very first day I bought Htc One. It doesn't show how much it charged when the phone is off. The led indicator works fine and the also the phone charges. But it doesn't show the percentage charged while the phone is off and on charging. In 4.3 it's shows the charging animation at the beginning but later it just shows the blank screen when I press the power button. Is this the normal behavior?

Yeah, I think so.
I think bettery life is on lock screen though, at least whilst charging.

Hey all I just bought a new extended battery and when I put it in the phone I can't turn it on. I so I tried to charge it but when I plug it I will the bottom lights start flashing and on the screen a blank battery comes up...
Is it defective or does it just need a while to charge??
Thanks so much.

battery
sounds like it needs to charge for a while.
Batteries don't come with a charge. There's usually some kind of directions that tells you how long you're supposed to charge the battery the first time prior to use.

I just purchased a used htc dream because it was cheap, it's a neat phone, and I love tinkering. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to turn on. When I plug it in the red led turns on solid. When I press the power button to turn it on, the light goes out and won't turn back on until I pull the battery and replug. Is this a bad battery? Is it worth buying a new battery to find out? It has proper voltage when i tested it with a multimeter.... Any thoughts or suggestions welcome.
Broken battery, might be. Try charging the battery at least for half an hour / an houre before switching on the phone.
Another possibility: broken backlight. In that case it seems switched off, because the screen stays very very dark, but the phone is booting up and working.

does it vibrate shortly after you attempt to turn it on? if it does chances are lcd or flex cable, the usual culprat being the flex

I did charge it for several hours and the light turned green. Same results when trying to turn it on. No vibrate or sounds. perhaps the next time i order parts from china I'll get a battery if it is cheap enough.
In my opinion, the backlight is dead...if the battery LED indicator, after u charge it several hrs turns green then ur phone is turning on but u cant see it working...
Yesterday my phone shutted because my battery, I connected to my car and charged a while, I got out from charging and using 2-3 minutes more and battery died again. When I got home I connected it to AC power and powered on, It was working without problem. I left my phone maybe 1 hour charging and when I took it again it was dead: screen dead, no life signal, just the led blinking slowly when connected to power (either AC and USB)...tried to take off battery but nothing. Today I connected it to PC and windows has recognized it but cannot identify it (on the PC the classic USB device not recognized error with yellow triangle on top) and the led is always blinking.
Any idea? should I have to buy a new phone?
thanks
Sounds like your battery is dead. Try replacing your battery

Do you think is a battery problem? phone should boot even without a battery when connected to power...or not?

Try Running some POST tests. As in, Power off your device and wait for few seconds. Then Press and hold your power key and your volume down key. You should be able to access your Bootloader. (If you have Rooted your device, you could access your recovery and clear the battery stats although your device's condition seems peculiar/critical). Its worth a shot If you ask me.
I have already tried it but nothing, cleared dalvik and battery stats..I cannot understand whats going on. Now phone is working again but it cannot maintain battery, I mean I kept it in charge all the night but when I power on the phone it shuts down just when it starts android (thats strange because I went to a store yestarday and tried a new battery but it didn't worked, when got home I tried to power on it again and it started)...this is driving me crazy!!
edit: I turned it on, plugged in AC charger and phone after some minutes told me that (I don't remember the exact message) power needed by the phone is more than the charger could provide...
edit2: now it is on and it is charging (USB) and it doesn't charge more than 21%...really strange
Odd that this hasn't been mentioned but perhaps try a different usb cable? Different port? Seems obvious but you never know. Cables can deteriorate.

What do you think about?
Hi !
So my nexus 7 is not charging anymore... 3 days ago I took it outside ( it was -20°C in Montreal) and tried to use it but it did not start ( I think the battery went off because of the cold).
When I went back home I plugged it to the AC charger but nothing happened. I checked on several forums ans finally succeeded in booting the tablet. But the as soon as the tablet is on, it displays the message that the tablet is shutting down. I can see that the battery is empty and it is like the tablet is not plugged to the charger(the icon displays a red exclamation point instead of the charging indicator)
When the tablet is off and I plugged it to the charger it displays the charging icon for a 10 seconds and then it disappears. During those few seconds I can launch the boot loader. I tryed to shut it down, de plug and re plug the charger. The charging icon appears and then disappears again after a few...
Any advice on this one ? I don't think the tablet is totally dead but I don't find the way to make it charge again.
Thanks a lot,
Guillaume

Does the charger get warm at all when you plug it in? Not that that's necessary but curious. Try charging on a different charger. Perhaps a local BB or similar would let you try plugging in in lieu of buying one. But trying a different charger/cord would be my first step.
Usually it's heat and not cold that devices hate.
HTH
Have you plugged it into a computer and left it that way for a few hours?
Did you tried pressing Power button for 30 seconds ?? It worked for some people, I was not even able to turn on my nexus 7 when its reached to my hands, i was so unlucky, today i given it to Asus service centre as its has international warranty, i lives in india & bought from US, they working on it,hoping for best.
You might have to take the back off and check the battery connector, some people have had them come loose.

These things are freezer tested and they work. Worst comes to absolute worst complete battery replacement is not that difficult if you are out of warranty. I remember reading that in the disassembly notes.

Battery issue-seems to be unique. Didn't get phone extremely wet but it was being used in a bit of light rain yesterday when this issue surfaced. Phone died at some point in my pocket on the way into office from car. Set it to charge and, since then, i get flashing orange light with the battery/lightning bolt indicator-in perpetuity . Tried messing with all kinds of button combinations on and off charger and nothing has changed-flashing orange light w/battery indicator (empty-no green or percentage). Phone doesn't even seem to heat up even after hours on charger. Any help would be greatly appreciated, my m7 getting to feel extremely dated on day two.

Try holding power volume up and down for 2 minutes. It's supposed to reset the battery charge logic

Any update?
Was Mia awhile- thanks I'm trying now!

Kind of an old.trick but a good one,
Go to: data/system
Delete: batterystats.bin
Plug in phone and let battery charge (if it will)
When battery is fully charged dont un plug your phone, go to data/system again and delete batterystats.bin again. Reboot your phone.
When the light turns green again then unplug the phone. This is basically a manual reset for batterystats.
Would love to try this but I can't boot into recovery whatsoever- almost a month later and I'm still stuck with: empty battery charging emblem and a flashing red light in perpituity

First time I've seen this.might want to take it in to Sprint. They might exchange it for you
I appreciate the advice- this would be my second exchange in a year so Im tentative to take it in and TEP( or whatever its current equivalent is) seems to get more restrictions/rules every year. Phone will work now if its plugged in but the second it loses connection with external power source -dies immediately.

I had a similar issue plugging it into my PC via USB and waiting for the light to remain solid before powering it on seemed to work
