[Q] Upgrading Firmware - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm looking to S-OFF my HTC One (hboot - 1.54.0000). However, it seems I am incapable of using rumrunner because I am currently using a firmware that it doesn't support. My current base is 3.17.401.2 It seems my only course of action is to flash in a new firmware that is compatible with rumrunner i.e.3.17.502.3 but unfortunately, my CID (HTC__039) means that I cannot flash any of them on.
So, my question is, what am I do now?
Cheers.

If you are currently s-on then your firmware must be 2.24.980.2 if it is HTC__039. Check it using fastboot getvar all then check the main version. Then use the same Rom and head to rumrunner for s-off.

Cheers for the quick response buddy. Yes you're right. My main version is 2.24.980.2. It seems that rumrunner doesn't support that version, going up to only 2.24.841.1. I think that means that rumrunner won't be capable for me.

Doesn't always need to match. I was running the same version as u and I s off'd using rumrunner 2.24.709.1 the first day it came out

Haha. Thanks for the reply buddy. You know what? I'm going to take your word for it buddy and attempt the same thing. Seeing as you and I are from Melbourne, maybe we both have the same phones from the same batch.

I'm also using ARHD 21.0 with ElementalX kernel. That shouldn't be a problem right?

Installing MIUI

Hi,
I have some experience with flashing, I have successfully installed CM7 and Nik's Project X on my Vivo. But when it comes to MIUI, I can only get the Chinese version working, not the English one. Stuck on Htc logo. Any ideas? Using 4EXT...

Try an other English version.
Full Wipe
Flash
(If you're a safety person, full wipe again)
Or try updating your Radio.
u must flash boot.img via adb i think

Depends on the ROM. Usually it's said if you have to use it or not but you can try to flash it anyway as it is a step forward anyway Or at least no step backwards Did you try another build already?

Tried with Blackrose, and then 2.10.12 and 2.9.7. Neither worked, stuck on MIUI and HTC logo respectively.

As Cyrus says, you could try manually extracting the boot.img from the ROM zip and pushing it via ADB once you've flashed the ROM. This was the only way to get the ROM booting on previous versions, and I'm not sure that it's been fixed yet. Give it a go.
It's not clear in the MIUI thread, but you must flash this specific boot.img to get MIUI to boot up. After you have a booted up a couple of times, you can proceed to install Redux BlackR Sense 3.6.
Ended up using another ROM by Nik recommended in this forum, and am more than happy with this one.. Will hopefully try MIUI some other time, too much trouble getting it to work.

Would S-OFF work for this H-Boot

Hi guys just wondering, i have the sudden want to S-OFF my phone but i want to check if my H-Boot version is compaible with the S-OFF method.
If you have updated to ICS from the manufacturer you should be good to go. Even if you are still on GB there is an s-off kit for either version of android

Do i have to be on a stock rom to s-off because there is no way for me to go back to stock rom using ruu.

The dev of the s-off process recommends it and will not help troubleshoot without it ..
But..
Homeslice managed to s-off without going back to stock...
FYI: I know he did so pre-CM10 so maybe a sense ROM?

There is only the one proven method that I know of for this phone...
Do not be intimidated...
All the wire trick is... is finding a ground that causes a reboot in a different manner... and allows the exploit to run...
Be not afraid

Bootloops

Eventually was able to sideload a Rom to my phone. Now I get constant bootloops. Before running into problems, I was running an aosp Rom.

make sure you do a full wipe, including data and system
and make sure you flashed the right rom

Sideload "a ROM"? Running "an AOSP ROM"?
You're going to have to give a lot more information if you expect to be helped. For example, if the ROM you're trying to sideload is GSM based, that could cause bootloops. If your ROM is now a 4.1-based Sense ROM and you came from 4.2-based AOSP, you could be bootlooping. Until you actually say what you're doing, there's not a lot anyone can say other than RUU.

i was running an aosp 4.3 that was running perfect. then i flashed a new kernel that the dev said would work for that rom. it was then that the problems began. the bootloops began and then no other rom seemed to flash properly. i had already updated to the new firmware so there is no ruu option for me it seems.

Have you tried my guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42452138
If you get it to work the you will have to unlock your CID so you can flash the 1.29 firmware or RUU.

It seems you need to use terminal from your phone for revone and the bootlooping makes it virtually impossible. Is there a way to run the commands from a pc while in fastboot mode?

You don't need terminal. Just use the all in one tool located in one of the dev forums.

[Q] Convert google edition to Sense

Hello,
I bought a European HTC one (unlocked version, with s-off and unlocked bootloader.)
I converted it to a google edition and I would like to go back to sense.
I would like to ask you a few question :
- Can i use the developer edition RUU, I live in France, am I going to have any issue with the radio ? I don't really understand the difference between the RUU of different region.
- Since the developer edition is 4.3 (http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads/P40), is it still necessary to downgrade the hboot ? (because in the google edition guide they say we need to downgrade it).
- I need to change the CID to get the OTA if I use the Super CID ?
Thank you very much for your help
Julien, from France
Follow the guide, that's what it's there for

Thanks but I already read the guide, my question are not answered in the guide..
The guide tells you how to get back to Sense, you can use any RUU you want but I'd just use the EU one setting as you're in France

Do you know if i need to downgrade the hboot with sense 4.3 ?
Thanks
Follow the guide, particularly post #2 as it tells you what you have to do to get back to stock
Yes, I know how to do it, but when the post was written there was only 4.2 sense, hence we had to downgrade the hboot coming from 4.3 Google édition, I just want to know if with sense 4.3 there is the same hboot than in the google edition so I can skip the part "downgrade the hboot"
To flash the RUU you have to be on hboot 1.44, hence why I've said follow the guide

[Q] Could I convert my HTC One to GPE?

Hello, I recently got S-Off on my Telus HTC One (Hboot 1.55, m7_ul) using rumrunner. I am wondering if I can convert my model to a GPE. I am open to giving more information about my phone, if it is required.
On a similar note, I tried using this 4.4 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395. However, for whatever reason, the average network speed I was receiving was very low in comparison to my stock Rom. I tried flashing the latest radio, but it did not fix my issue. I was wondering if any of you guys had a fix to my issue.
Thanks for your time.
yes you can convert. grab the RUU from the conversion thread and flash it.
