[Q] Could I convert my HTC One to GPE? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I recently got S-Off on my Telus HTC One (Hboot 1.55, m7_ul) using rumrunner. I am wondering if I can convert my model to a GPE. I am open to giving more information about my phone, if it is required.
On a similar note, I tried using this 4.4 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2341395. However, for whatever reason, the average network speed I was receiving was very low in comparison to my stock Rom. I tried flashing the latest radio, but it did not fix my issue. I was wondering if any of you guys had a fix to my issue.
Thanks for your time.

yes you can convert. grab the RUU from the conversion thread and flash it.

Sprint HTC one bricked?

So I wanted to root my htc one and install a custom rom on it and everything went wrong. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed twrp, installed superuser. I then tried to install android revolution hd 12.1. after installing it from sd card it said that my device was not rooted and it rebooted and now i am stuck on the bootloader screen. I cannot try and install the rom again due to all my data being wiped somehow and I have relocked the bootloader and tried to run the ruu to return to stock but it says I need the correct ruu i updated to 1.31. someone please help!!!
It is loading to the "htc quite brilliant" screen and it wont go no farther, I can still get into bootloader and recovery though
Sprint Htc One issues
I am having a very similar issue! I just want to be able to use my phone whether stock or rooted now. Help!!!!!!
If you can access the boot loader, unlock it again then use TWRP's sideload feature to flash the ROM. Or you can probably find. The correct RUU in the sprint one forum.

Once you guys get your phone's fixed, make sure to flash a sprint compatible Rom. Android revolution hd isn't compatible for our phones yet

Seriously. The number of people who've managed to put themselves in this situation is staggering. We may just want to have a PSA sticky that says not to flash that ROM.
OP, you should at the least put your phone into fastboot because an RUU will not run with the bootloader open, but I'm not sure if there's a new RUU available for the latest OTA.
Fortunately you are not bricked try out this tool it makes your recovery so much easier http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236814 with this you can flash a recovery and sideload a rom, you might have to also click the download HTC drivers as well. Make sure you sideload a SPRINT compatible Rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2219. GL!
So find a Sprint Rom you like and download it, then from bootloader you can use this tool and sideload a rom and flash a recovery.
Ive got it to install a rom, i installed viperrom. After i did that and it boots up it says I have no service and the phone will reboot on its own. what do i do now?
You will likely have to RUU back to stock. The non Sprint Rom probable buggered the partitions or the baseband. Look in android development to find the RUU file you need. I don't think you can use the older one if you got the recent OTA.

Thats what I want to do go back to stock. Do you know where the ruu for 1.31 is?
I can't find it. I heard it was out there in a thread recently. Here is the older one though. That may work, I haven't tried though.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=
I haven't explored it myself, but I saw anecdotal posts stating that they were able to use the older RUU.

Ive tried the older one it wont work

what do you mean?
Might have to wait for the RUU file to drop then. Coming from Samsung devices for a long time, I'm used to being able to use Odin to go back to older factory firmware without issue. It's a bummer. Maybe someone more versed will have better info.

Does the Non-Sprint HTC One threads say "Sprint"? No.
Are the Sprint HTC One forums labeled "Sprint"? Yes.
Do nearly all the ROM threads in the non-Sprint forums say something along the line of "not for Sprint variant" including the revolution HD thread (all US carriers apart from Sprint)? Yes.
Just take a minute to read through the thread before flashing something. I mean, this is an expensive device where messing with system level files CAN ruin it (obviously) So, don't go jumping into stuff if you aren't going to take the time to understand it.

The thread I listed gives everything to get you back up and running,,the GSM Rom you flashed screwed up your partitions, file structure is different from our Sprint edition Ones,,that thread is in general section,

Thank you! I am going to try that now! i appreciate the help, I just want to be up and running again
I thought that fix is just to remove the 4.2.2 multi user sd card issue. I don't think that'll fix your baseband issue. Might be wrong though...

[Q] Upgrading Firmware

Hi guys,
I'm looking to S-OFF my HTC One (hboot - 1.54.0000). However, it seems I am incapable of using rumrunner because I am currently using a firmware that it doesn't support. My current base is 3.17.401.2 It seems my only course of action is to flash in a new firmware that is compatible with rumrunner i.e.3.17.502.3 but unfortunately, my CID (HTC__039) means that I cannot flash any of them on.
So, my question is, what am I do now?
Cheers.

If you are currently s-on then your firmware must be 2.24.980.2 if it is HTC__039. Check it using fastboot getvar all then check the main version. Then use the same Rom and head to rumrunner for s-off.

Cheers for the quick response buddy. Yes you're right. My main version is 2.24.980.2. It seems that rumrunner doesn't support that version, going up to only 2.24.841.1. I think that means that rumrunner won't be capable for me.
Doesn't always need to match. I was running the same version as u and I s off'd using rumrunner 2.24.709.1 the first day it came out

Haha. Thanks for the reply buddy. You know what? I'm going to take your word for it buddy and attempt the same thing. Seeing as you and I are from Melbourne, maybe we both have the same phones from the same batch.
I'm also using ARHD 21.0 with ElementalX kernel. That shouldn't be a problem right?

[Q] Convert google edition to Sense

Hello,
I bought a European HTC one (unlocked version, with s-off and unlocked bootloader.)
I converted it to a google edition and I would like to go back to sense.
I would like to ask you a few question :
- Can i use the developer edition RUU, I live in France, am I going to have any issue with the radio ? I don't really understand the difference between the RUU of different region.
- Since the developer edition is 4.3 (http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads/P40), is it still necessary to downgrade the hboot ? (because in the google edition guide they say we need to downgrade it).
- I need to change the CID to get the OTA if I use the Super CID ?
Thank you very much for your help
Julien, from France
Follow the guide, that's what it's there for
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Thanks but I already read the guide, my question are not answered in the guide..
The guide tells you how to get back to Sense, you can use any RUU you want but I'd just use the EU one setting as you're in France

Thank you for you help
Do you know if i need to downgrade the hboot with sense 4.3 ?
Thanks
Follow the guide, particularly post #2 as it tells you what you have to do to get back to stock
Yes, I know how to do it, but when the post was written there was only 4.2 sense, hence we had to downgrade the hboot coming from 4.3 Google édition, I just want to know if with sense 4.3 there is the same hboot than in the google edition so I can skip the part "downgrade the hboot"
To flash the RUU you have to be on hboot 1.44, hence why I've said follow the guide

Rebooting after flashing custom kernel

My Sprint HTC One keeps rebooting after I flash any custom kernel (faux, codecraft) on my phone. They use to work. Don't know if Flashing the H/K RUU had anything to do with it or not, flashed the 1.54.651.8 Firmware from Captain after the RUU aswell. Any help getting this fixed would be appreciated, thanks

No I'm saying you back tracked your firmware from RUU which is .9 and you said you went to .8 after the Ruu that doesn't sound like a good idea
Sent from my 831C using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
even on the .9 H/K firmware i get the reboots
Hmmm, maybe you just can't use kernels on your phone, I remember older phones some people's phones just hated custom kernels
Sent from my 831C using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
was running kernels fine until i had to RUU because hands-free activation kept popping up and rebooting my phone
Ahhh, understandable. Sorry I cannot help you sir! :/

I agree Stock + Rooted + ElementalX is a winning combination
OK. Can you tell me what the kernal actually is and does? I'm new to all this. I have rooted and flashed custom Rom.just need s-off now.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
Its kind of like the central core, all software and controls are built around it, it has control over everything that happens in the OS basically, kernel is boss.
---------- Post added at 02:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:22 PM ----------
here's a fairly good explanation: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/31632/what-is-the-linux-kernel-and-what-does-it-do/
OK so if I flashed a new kernal. Is it way to do? All I want is to turn s-off.
I have heard the camera doesn't work after on some?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
Just flash a kernel like you do with a rom, copy it to your internal storage then enter recovery and flash it, then try and s-off again with that kernel installed, if you don't like the kernel, like the battery drain is too high for instance then try a different one.
Will the kernal I install. Will it wipe my phone or change anything that's on my phone like custom Rom etc?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
No, a custom kernel will just enable some features you don't have now, like double tap the screen to wake and sleep, or swipe to wake or sleep, allow you to overclock etc, select which features you want during install.
If your not sure of anything, just select recommended or stock for everything during install, you can flash it multiple times and experiment each time with different settings.
Just one question for you however, if you don't know anything about flashing kernels etc, why do you possible want S-OFF, its very dangerous for someone with little or no knowledge and very easy to brick you phone, S-ON stops you flashing wrong software which may brick your phone, S-OFF relies on you knowing what you are doing, if its wrong with S-OFF, it will still flash and you will have a dead phone.
OK I understand. Some roms I want say they require s-off. Will they still work with s-on then?

OIC, as far as I know its only if you want to convert your phone to a Google Edition HTC One that you need S-OFF
So even if the Rom says s-off will the Rom work?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
No, If the rom requires S-OFF then you will need to be S-OFF.
Which Rom are talking about here ?
I was looking at sky dragon google play edition. Unless you can recommend a good rom for me?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
Yes you will need S-OFF for that, im using viper one, I love it and loads of themes and tweaks available for it.
I tried that. Has loads but to many I think lol. If I was too re flash.can I go straight over the top with recovery and not wipe data?
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
Its always advised to wipe data if you are going to a different rom
