I need to get my phone to exactly like it was when I first opened it. I'm currently on 4.3, bootloader unlocked, rooted, TWRPd and on the newest hboot. I need to downgrade hboot, get navy to 4.1.2, and get back to stock recovery. Can anyone help me with this?

I unlocked my inc s bootloader using htcdev method. I then installed 4ext recovery and then the a custom rom. I now want to revert back to stock rom and re-unlock the bootloader. Am thinking of doing this. Please correct me if I am wrong.
1. Restore stock rom from nandroid backup.
2. Use htcdev relock method to get back to unlocked state.
My question is will the custom recovery create any problems. If so how do I get back stock recovery?

No the custom recovery will not cause any issues.
And once I restore stock rom and re unlock I can get the latest ics ota update?

Why do you need to re-lock? If you want to receive OTA update, you need to have stock recovery.

OK so going back to your original question, yes the custom recovery will cause you a problem with trying to receive the OTA update. It will let you download it, but will then tell you that you have a custom setup and won't let you install it.
i guess its more or less same case as mine
you can refer to my post before

btw, I finally run the RUU... :silly:

I thought it had to be that i needed the new version of the Ruu but i dont think theres one is there any other way to get my phone to work?
Edit

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you're talking about firmware. Firmware is completely separate from roms, Viper's rom is based off 1.29. You just need a rom that's on the 1.31 firmware like OMJ's rom. The reason the old RUU failed is because you have the 1.31 firmware so the old 1.29 RUU won't work.
Interesting thanks for the help

So I had my HTC One rooted and flashed viper rom. I relocked the bootloader and flashed back to stock rom 1.31.651.2 and everything went smoothly. I went to system updates and it found the 4.3 update and downloaded it. When It gave me the option I clicked install now and the phone rebooted, but into the HTC screen with the development warning and then straight into bootloader and did nothing after that. I rebooted and tried install now again and the same thing happened. What am I doing wrong? Why wont the 4.3 install?
I would suggest getting S-OFF before taking the OTA.
BTW it's NEVER a good idea to take an OTA
I would assume there's already an odex and deodex version of stock 4.3 floating around somewhere. That's usually the first things devs release when it comes to OTAs.

If you are taking an ota on a stock rooted Rom you need to.flash the stock recovery. It will not work if you still have custom recovery on your phone.

Sure it is, I took it knowing I had S-Off and that the OTA wouldnt reenable the security flag. That's all you need to do is be S-Off to ensure you can downgrade if need be.

Awesome. That worked. It wouldn't install the first 2 times, it pretty much just went to installer, did nothing, and then factory reset itself, but the third time was a charm and it installed fine. Thanks so much for your help!! Greatly appreciate it.
Hello everybody,
I am considering rooting my htc one, but I have a few questions about returning to stock and rooting before I do.
Edit: When I say I want to return to stock, I want to be able to receive and install ota updates from optus.
1. If I make a nandroid backup straight after I root the phone can this be used to return to stock if I reflash stock recovery or do I have to flash ruu?
2. Is there anything else I need to go back to stock if the above method does not work? Where can I find the optus ruu?
3. When rooting with the all in one toolkit, do I select att htc one or international htc one? I have a HTC One 801s that is locked to Optus in australia.
Thanks in advance, if I do root my htc one, I'll probably only be flashing roms if that matters. My phone is an australian HTC One 801s that is locked to Optus.
Anyone?

1: yes you can
2: to go completely stock, flash stock recovery (to receive OTA) and re-lock boot loader.
3: International (AT&T is US based)

How do I relock my bootloader?
Sent from my HTC_PN071 using xda app-developers app
Often you can get faster answers by searching.
Drop to fastboot on the phone and issue this command from your PC:
fastboot oem lock
You don't need to relock to install OTAs.
Sorry about that, I guess I was being a bit lazy. Thanks for all the help you guys gave me.

So I'm rooted, S-Off, and SuperCID, and I get the 4.3 system update notification. I know I need to have the stock recovery, but do I also need to relock the bootloader? And will I lose root access after updating? All help would be appreciated.

Just flash stock recovery and lock bootloader. Accept OTA, after update, flash CWM, re-root.
