Hello,
I am new to the XDAdevelopers forum and don't have much knowledge of rooting or installing customs roms to Android phones.
I currently own the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 and just looking around some videos I would love to have some customs rom installed on my phone, such as the new Jelly Bean roms that are out now.
I would love to know on how to root my Galaxy Note if there is a Noob Tutorial for rooting the galaxy note and maybe a Noob Tutorial on how to install Jelly Bean rom that is currently out (any suggestion on which rom would be great)
As I said I am a noob and don't have much knowledge on how to mod your android phones and any help would be greatly appreciated
FYI: Looked around the forums for the while, I couldn't find anything simple enough, I bet there is somewhere in the forum, not sure if I was looking correctly >.<
Here is a guide to root your phone

There is a free version for people who cannot buy from market, look here or you can also use k-tools for flashing kernel its free on market, extract the kernel to zimage and put on root of internal SD and then flash it using k-tools.

As long as you are on any safe kernel you can flash any JB rom, no matter if you are on any TW ICS, GB or CM9/10 roms. I am on CM10 right now and flashed it directly on stock LRQ ICS with Speedmod kernel.

Hello,
So after getting some knowledge of the things (thanks Shut_Down :good, I was wondering which is the best combination for this phone?
Right now I am running the stock ROM and kernel.
Will the new official JB upgrade also change kernel or just ROM?
Since people here have already tried different combinations, which combinations have you found that give good, consistent and fast running?
Thanks!

Same here. Stock JB LQ4 + ThunderZap 3.5.
So I am guessing I will upgrade to the stock JB ROM (till there will be a JetMod version of JB).
1) Which would be a better kernel set CoCore or ThunderZap?
2) I am right now still running the stock GB ROM.
What would be the right upgrade process kernel update then rom, or rom and then kernel?
The reason I am thinking kernel first is because I still don't have a custom recovery (using the stock brand) so i can't backup or load new roms.
What do you think?
Thanks!

Try both and see what firs you better. And about order, you can install ROM with temp. CWM, but I suggest you use permanent, with custom kernel. So first kernel, than ROM.

Hm, on this Russian JB there is no Hebrew as I see. So if you want it you should wait for release for your country or any with your language.

Hi
Just got my N7000 back from service; With just about all the hardware except the screen were replaced, it also returned running the stock ROM (Android 4.1.2, kernel version 3.0.31-1103517, build JZ054K.N7000XXLT5). While the stock Jelly Bean is miles ahead of both the original Gingerbread ROM and the stock ICS ROM, I'd rather root and go back to the CyanogenMod nightlies...
Thing is, between all the "Super Brick" and "eMMC" bugs - I'm a bit scared and terribly confused with witch technique I should use to root and ROM my phone. It sure would be nice if someone could point me to a tried and tested method (preferably a step by step guide) to root and ROM my N7000XXLT5...
Root using Philz kernel. Then you can flash the rom of you choice. For instructions, head over to his thread in the original android development section.

Thanks nokiamodeln91!
I assume you're referring to [PhilZ-cwm6][n7000]. I've looked at this earlier. I've settled on and are comfortable flashing it using the stock recovery method, and the step by step guide (in post #3 of the PhilZ-cwm6 thread) should make this manageable enough...
The problem however is that I'm unsure as to which package/version to download. I've looked at the "What kernel to choose section" in post #2 of the PhilZ-cwm6 thread, but from that information I cannot figure out which kernel matches/is suitable for my device...
As I said, I'm terribly confused by all this...

Thanks again! I've downloaded "PhilZ-cwm6-XXLT5-OXX-5.03.0-signed.zip" and are ready to root/rom my phone!
I guess it freaks me out not knowing/understanding everything. Especially about something as fundamental as the bootloader/OS of my phone. It's a weird feeling reading info like "DDLSC - DXLSE - JPLSB - XXLT5 - ZSLO2" without understanding most it. Also kind of freaks me out that I'm not supposed to use the latest version of a piece of software....
Though, I've had it with the stock rom again and are ready to take my chances! So again; Thank you!
@nokiamodeln91; Just wanted to say thank you!
Rooting with "Philz kernel" is quite possibly the easiest root I've performed. Once I were sure which version/variant to download is nothing to worry about.
So now I'm back to being a happy N7000 user running CyanogenMOD! Only difference being that I'm back to nightlies...
Again; Thanks!

Hello .. i have a problem ..
My mobile on JB 4.1.2 official but playing videos hang and freeze the device why is that with dual-core processor
*1* I use MXPlayer and tried MoboPlayer too .. both hang !!
*2* when I bought it at first run it updated itself to JB 4.1.2 and after done ... some crash at Gapps .. I Deleted cache and updated them and now all fine...
anything wrong with me !!
Thanks in advance.
It's a problem depending on the firmware that you use
For example, while this doesn't happen on lpd, on lqg is annoying
Even though I'm not a super fan of cocore, I have to agree that, when you install cocore, independent of the firmware you're using this lag will stop
Or go to cm10.1...
So if its firmware error .. CoCore need time to understand it .. I'm new here with S advance and its devs. so I have to wait for other solution

Download any of the cocore kernel (if you're I9070p then its cocore ep) (recommended latest nightly v7.6)
Extract the md5 file and flash it using universal kernel flasher
Root your Phone install universal kernelflash. Download cocore v7.x zipfile.Unzip it to a dir. Load the md5 file from the zip into kernelflasher, and flash then reboot

You will have to root your phone and then install CoCore E kernel. That's the only way to get the maximum performance that stock 4.1.2 firmware can offer.
In addition to that, you can also use custom ROMs that are based on Samsung's 4.1.2 firmware (not AOSP) - like mine

I never used Universal Kernel Flasher (UKF) but yes, you can use UKF to install CoCore E Kernel. But I think you should have another File Manager like MiXplorer or ES Explorer installed on your phone first.
After downloading the kernel, open it on your PC and then extract kernel.bin.md5 file from the zip file. Copy this file to your phone's Internal Storage (sdcard0) and then use UKF. Link to UKF app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2137598
One more thing. I recommend installing this version of CoCore E Kernel: CoCore-E-Refresh-r09_TWRP.zip (look for it in here)
