Hey you early guys. If you downloaded it before say 9 AM Eastern this morning, discard it and download again. A minor adjustment was made and re-uploaded, now it's working perfectly. Just got mine done a couple minutes ago.

So I get to be the first one with a problem? Why does that not surprise me?
Anyway, I've been trying all morning to get S-OFF. No luck. I have all the prerequisites; unlocked, etc. I made sure firewall and antivirus were disabled. The whole nine yards. I even went on OMJ's stock rom. I cannot get past the "go back and READ" status!
Maybe I'm just not meant to be S-OFF.
I tried on two computers: one with Win7 and one with Win8.1. Same results on both.
I'm at a loss.

Sounds like a driver problem
Stick with Win7 because 8.1 you will have issues with the drivers

That's wild. Because Win7 gave me more issues than 8.1. I installed the HTC drivers in the thread here in this forum. And Win7 kept having install issues.
The computer with Win7 also has Ubuntu 12.04 installed as a dual boot. Maybe I should use Ubuntu.

pandacookie. i had that same message initially. i didn't realize it, but a little box was popping up on my phone asking me to authorize my computer to communicate with adb. if the screen has turned off it won't turn back on to show you that message, so i had no idea it was even asking me. i kept the screen on the next time and made sure to choose authorize and to always accept communications from that computer and everything worked perfect. i hope that helps you.

Thank you so much for the help. But I did actually get S-OFF by using Ubuntu 12.04.
Word to the wise, people: doing this on Ubuntu is so much easier than wrestling with drivers and Windows. All you need to know are the commands, which is on the Rumrunner page.
Now excuse me while I go throw a brick at my Windows 8.1 computer...

No doubt man. Ubuntu is definitely the way to go on this kind of thing. Glad you got it. Now that I'm S-OFF again, I think I'll RUU back to 1.29 or something just for the heck of it!

On windows 8.1 here too, and I can't get it to work. I assume the phone doesn't need to be in fastboot mode, just at the home screen with the needed options checked in settings, which I have done. However, running rumrunner doesn't get me anywhere, even with windows firewall and defender disabled. I can't seem to get ADB to work over USB either, but I've just been using an app from the market to do ADB over wifi (just been changing files and stuff, I know I can't use it for stuff like this).
If anyone could help that'd be awesome.

Honestly you might have to take it to one of those mac stores. I've personally never been inside one but they supposedly have their own IT department that might be able to fix your problem.

[Q] Rooting for Mac

Just wondering if anyone using a Mac has rooted their HTC One? I tried to follow the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182792 but obviously couldn't run a command prompt for those steps.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I've got a mac and have successfully rooted the HTC One using it. I followed a guide I used previously to root the One X, the steps are exactly the same.
The guide is here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1592922
I think the only step that was different is when you install a recovery, I used one specifically for the One
The best way is to get a real computer and not apples sh!t.

glad someone finally said it. After owning 50 or more apple computers since the IIci, many of which have gone around the world on tours loaded with ProTools with no significant issues at all and many happy customers, I can't understand why I still buy that junk.
I bet a HP would do the job nicely, if they support it a month after I bought it.
your lobotomy is ready.
what an incredibly stupit blanket statement.
Guys, just ignore the troll. If you don't feed it, it will go away.
Successfully rooted all my devices with a Mac. Just need fastboot and adb, everything else is identical to rooting on a PC.
In the development section there is a great post by torx which outlines the steps. But basically you first unlock the bootloader through HTC, then install recovery and flash Superuser or SuperSU in recovery. Then you're unlocked and rooted and can install Rom's.

[Q]HTC one mini port?

Reading the review for the HTC one mini it seems the specs are pretty darn close to the first. Would be awesome to see 4.2.2 and sense 5 on this phone. Hoping someone smarter than me could make it work.

I am going to try doing this myself to see if I can get it to work. I will obviously share my findings with you all. If anyone has any pointers for me to make this happen I would gladly accept the help.

just to update anyone who cares... i have been way busier than i expected to be and as it is not my personal phone my time available with it is even more limited. so i have not had a chance to really get into testing and troubleshooting(im sure there is going to be something there always is). so will update this post as soon as i know if it works(or how bad it is).
as mentioned above other people who i am sure have more knowledge in the workings of android and porting are also working on it. if in fact they share before i get a chance to test my(botched im sure) build i will abandon this as i have alot going on.
Well i finally had a chance to try it out and.........FAIL. So looks like I will be back in the boat waiting for someone smarter than me(looking at you @Zarboz) to come up with the port. Doesn't seem like it should be hard since it is almost exactly the same hardware running both phones... But I think that not having a 4.2.2 base on this phone will make it a little harder. Well that and an extra button...

Do I need to root my phone?
If you aren't going to read it then why bother posting? It's clearly stated.
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Lol, yeah, you should probably read the article all the way through. In addition to stating the proposed workaround does require root, it also explains what is happening a little and might be generally helpful.
Bottom line, Android File Transfer doesnt work with Sense 5.5 at this time and no one has fixed it yet. Sense 5.5 users who do not have root and who do not have the Android SDK installed on their Mac are going to have a hard time getting files back and forth over a USB cable, it is true. Your better bets are cloud-based solutions and/or WiFi-based solutions.
