Screen protector? Need camera protector. - Samsung Galaxy Gear

There has been a lot of talk about protecting the screen which is understandable but my biggest issue is the camera lens. Just noticed that my camera lens is all scratched up. Used camera and seems okay but for how long?
Having the camera on the outside of the wrist subjects it to a lot of abuse. At least it appears that way in my case. For example, having my arms on the desk while using my phone, the lens is rubbing against the desk or pushing the car door open with my forearm, it hits the lens.
Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with this. I don't use the camera on it very much so it isn't a huge deal but I don't see this lens staying intact for the long hull.
Perhaps my biggest issue is that I wear it on my left wrist and left handed. So when I write, which I do a lot for work, it is again in contact with the desk or whatever.

Me too, however I'll probably cut out a screen protector to go over the lens, I would say I will need a wet screen protector (zagg or similar)

I just checked my camera lens and it's fine. I did remove the cover recently though as didn't like the look of it. Never worried about protecting camera lens on phone so never thought of with watch. Would've though phone lens would be more susceptible to scratches, but it looks fine. The watch lens is built a fair way into the strap on mine

Going to try to a single hole puncher with clear packing tape. This should fit pretty close.
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk

Hole puncher was to small. Maybe if there is a bigger option. The one I had was 1/4 inch. I ended up cutting a circle out of an extra screen protector and using it. Pictures are crystal clear.

I think a regular spare should work since it isn't curved

I also added a rubber protector.
This shield also acts as a thermal insulator to guard against condensation, as has been reported elsewhere.

Screen protector covering front camera

Hi guys
My front facing camera always looks very fuzzy and I suspect its bcos my screen protector is covering it. Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem and/or knows how to cut a hole in the screen protector specially for the camera?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my LG-P970 using xda app-developers app
woot~ maybe look for one with the hole already? I bought it that way for like 5 dlls at a local store, it has the hole for camera and another one like "L" for the sensors
I already checked if a clear screen protector interrupts the front camera and the answer is no. But I found out that a mirror/matte screen protector really interrupts the front camera..
You can find on ebay many good screen protectors for a few dollars.
Thks gonna go search for it now

Actl you don't need one...the gorilla glass is holding out well for me since I removed the screen protector few weeks ago. Everything on the screen seems much crisper too

Oh actually gorilla glass is quite weak against sand and coins, anyway I got the matte one but had to cut out the hole for the camera myself. ..

But I don't go to the beach nor put my coins in the same pocket lol. And btw doesn't the matte screen protector make everything on the screen look fuzzy?

Otterbox defender screen protector!

We all know it's defective, I removed, I put my own, but now the case is a little too flexible? Anybody have a fix for this? And when revision 2 ever comes out, will we get a chance to exchange ours?

Where the protector was actually glued to the plastic top housing piece, use a thin strip of foam tape (preferably 3m) all the way around about a 1/10th of an inch from the edge. The foam will sit between the top piece of the case and your phone.
Basically you are replacing the thickness of the glue + screen protector that helped keep the case nice and tight. It also helps to keep dust out of the case.
Even if the foam tape is 1/4 of a inch thick, it has a lot of give when pressed.
Thanks for help, appreciate it!

What is the cutting down the button nonsense? Mine works fine.
The screen protector works no differently than they did before or than that on the lifeproof...not getting all of the complaints. ..if one chooses to remove it so be it.. not really validation for the complaint imo

some users report the button sticking and to fix it you can cut down the material, probably isnt a problem with everyone.
My power button was fine. I just didn't like the gap between the screen protector. Felt weird. I had the phantom case for the s3 and it didn't have that. But we all can't get what we want.

I wouldn't remove the screen protector on the Otterbox Defender, although the pressure sensitivity of the S-pen is highly questionable.

HTC One camera lens covet gets scratched easily

Are there any recommendations for removing the scratches, or polishing them off? I have a tube of Displex that I bought for my PSP screen. Would this work for the camera lens cover on the phone?

Camera lens cover is made of some hard plastic material so probably best not to use any polish on it unless it is a plastic polish.

I wish they just sold replacement lenses. That's the only thing I miss about the old phones. The cover was build into the battery back

Does cutting a screen protector for lens cover not effect camera quality?

I am wondering if you polished the lens cover and if it was successful at removing the scratches. I have a few surface scratches on my HOX+ lens cover, and polishing seems like a reasonable solution. Thanks for any feedback.

This is the only reason I got a cover. When laying the phone flat on its back I felt I kept scratching the lens so now it has a bit more of distance between lens and table.

+1 for me. the lens of my One is always in contact with the surface it's laying on. Had the first scratches on the lens within an hour.

How did it happen? Did the gear hold up better than you thought it would?
Walkin thru a door way ay work. Hit pretty hard. New the moment i hit it i may have scratched it. Its so slight that its not noticable. Actually had a hard time takin picture. Ive dinged it a few other times but thats the only scratch.

Mine is pretty badly scratched too.. :/
I was bending down to pick up a box at the house and I hit my head into my brick around the door very minor scratch. Is held up a lot better then I had expected
Be careful with those screen protectors, especially the wet kind. I took caution when I spayed the screen but after getting the protector on I noticed to my horror that there was condensation under the camera lens! Fortunately it dried over night and everything seems OK. Maybe instead of spraying the screen I should have used a cotton swab or tissue to apply the wet solution?
Lesson learned and I won't be doing that again!

As scary as that may seem, it has been common to get condensation under the camera lens. I haven't seen anyone report a permanent issue from it. The condensation can happen just by walking from a cool, dry environment to a hot and humid environment or if you sweat a lot.

FYI For $40 Best Buy offers scratch protection insurance
Amazon had several types of screen protectors for the gear just not sure how well they stay on.

Can't show you... tried my best to scratch it but to no avail. Dropped it from 3m (10ft) right onto asphalt with glass first... Only a small mark on the edge not visible only by running a nail on the edge can you feel it.

I bought the G.Lider aluminum bumper case in blue from Casefanatic thinking it would fit the vs980 but no luck, the thicker back makes the case a little too small (sorry I can't post link, have less than 10 posts...)
I tried to return it but casefanatic is ignoring my emails. not sure how it would do with the screen protector, but if you want to try it for a lower price pm me if you'd like to buy it from me -- looks really slick and good quality, although I can't say how it'll hold up in the long term...
I have the second one on vs980. It was a little hard to get on but is great once its on. ( took out the little foam inside) Very solid feel. I've had a few drops from various heights and its protected nicely. No noticeable signal drop and all the ports line up correctly. Had to shave my charger down a little though to get it to fit in the smaller hole.I have an x gear carbon fiber skin and my phone is bad to the bone.

I was using an aluminum bumper case and my GPS turned to crap. Nothing else seemed to be affected but the GPS was definitely worse. I can literally take the case off get an instant lock. Put the case back on and it says searching for location.

I have the silver bumper with the screws in the bottom right hand corner. Seems to be working absolutely fine so far, and doesn't really add all too much bulk to it. Only complaint I have is the nobbly bit where the case screws together. I use my phone with my right hand a lot and this digs into my palm. Phone signal and WiFi not affected by this case, yet to try GPS.

The screen is pretty much flush with it, I have a screen protector and that's why it looks like it sticks out. I used to like having a lip to protect the screen from scratches but I have edge gestures set up now so I like it to be flush
