Show me your scratched Gear - Samsung Galaxy Gear

I don't use screen protectors or cases on any of my devices. Wondering if anyone has any scratches on the gear yet?? If so post a pic.

How did it happen? Did the gear hold up better than you thought it would?

Walkin thru a door way ay work. Hit pretty hard. New the moment i hit it i may have scratched it. Its so slight that its not noticable. Actually had a hard time takin picture. Ive dinged it a few other times but thats the only scratch.

Mine is pretty badly scratched too.. :/

I was bending down to pick up a box at the house and I hit my head into my brick around the door very minor scratch. Is held up a lot better then I had expected

Be careful with those screen protectors, especially the wet kind. I took caution when I spayed the screen but after getting the protector on I noticed to my horror that there was condensation under the camera lens! Fortunately it dried over night and everything seems OK. Maybe instead of spraying the screen I should have used a cotton swab or tissue to apply the wet solution?
Lesson learned and I won't be doing that again!

As scary as that may seem, it has been common to get condensation under the camera lens. I haven't seen anyone report a permanent issue from it. The condensation can happen just by walking from a cool, dry environment to a hot and humid environment or if you sweat a lot.

Best Buy
FYI For $40 Best Buy offers scratch protection insurance

Amazon had several types of screen protectors for the gear just not sure how well they stay on.

Can't show you... tried my best to scratch it but to no avail. Dropped it from 3m (10ft) right onto asphalt with glass first... Only a small mark on the edge not visible only by running a nail on the edge can you feel it.

Otterbox defender screen protector!

We all know it's defective, I removed, I put my own, but now the case is a little too flexible? Anybody have a fix for this? And when revision 2 ever comes out, will we get a chance to exchange ours?

Where the protector was actually glued to the plastic top housing piece, use a thin strip of foam tape (preferably 3m) all the way around about a 1/10th of an inch from the edge. The foam will sit between the top piece of the case and your phone.
Basically you are replacing the thickness of the glue + screen protector that helped keep the case nice and tight. It also helps to keep dust out of the case.
Even if the foam tape is 1/4 of a inch thick, it has a lot of give when pressed.
Thanks for help, appreciate it!

What is the cutting down the button nonsense? Mine works fine.
The screen protector works no differently than they did before or than that on the lifeproof...not getting all of the complaints. ..if one chooses to remove it so be it.. not really validation for the complaint imo

some users report the button sticking and to fix it you can cut down the material, probably isnt a problem with everyone.
My power button was fine. I just didn't like the gap between the screen protector. Felt weird. I had the phantom case for the s3 and it didn't have that. But we all can't get what we want.

I wouldn't remove the screen protector on the Otterbox Defender, although the pressure sensitivity of the S-pen is highly questionable.

Keeping the black clean

I didn't believe those that said smudges would be problem on this phone, but it definitely is. To top it off, grit is stuck in some of my speaker holes and I've no idea of how to get it out. It sticks out like a sore thumb when the phone is clean...

Damn that sucks mine has stayed clean for the most part, I don't know what I would do either if mine got like that..The speaker holes are sooo tiny very difficult to get clean..

I have a xtreme full body kit on mine. Completely clear and has 100% clarity. You can't tell there is anything on the front or back. Takes a simple wipe of the phone with a cloth and it shines like new. No case needed.

I just installed xtremegaurd front and back. U can definately tell it's there(as far as the feel). I'm thinking about taking the screen protector off. The back I will leave because I am waiting on my atmosphere case which has a clear back to it so I still can see the back and not worry about debris getting behind and rubbing on the anodization.

Screen protector? Need camera protector.

There has been a lot of talk about protecting the screen which is understandable but my biggest issue is the camera lens. Just noticed that my camera lens is all scratched up. Used camera and seems okay but for how long?
Having the camera on the outside of the wrist subjects it to a lot of abuse. At least it appears that way in my case. For example, having my arms on the desk while using my phone, the lens is rubbing against the desk or pushing the car door open with my forearm, it hits the lens.
Just wondering if anyone else is having issues with this. I don't use the camera on it very much so it isn't a huge deal but I don't see this lens staying intact for the long hull.
Perhaps my biggest issue is that I wear it on my left wrist and left handed. So when I write, which I do a lot for work, it is again in contact with the desk or whatever.

Me too, however I'll probably cut out a screen protector to go over the lens, I would say I will need a wet screen protector (zagg or similar)

I just checked my camera lens and it's fine. I did remove the cover recently though as didn't like the look of it. Never worried about protecting camera lens on phone so never thought of with watch. Would've though phone lens would be more susceptible to scratches, but it looks fine. The watch lens is built a fair way into the strap on mine
Going to try to a single hole puncher with clear packing tape. This should fit pretty close.
Sent from my SM-N900V using Tapatalk
Hole puncher was to small. Maybe if there is a bigger option. The one I had was 1/4 inch. I ended up cutting a circle out of an extra screen protector and using it. Pictures are crystal clear.

I also added a rubber protector.
This shield also acts as a thermal insulator to guard against condensation, as has been reported elsewhere.

I see this starting on my M8. I don't think it's affected the pictures yet, but will be monitoring it. Just picked up the Harmon/Kardon today and really hoping this doesn't happen.
It works!!! I used screen cleaner with a credit card. I was so afraid that I'd scratched my camera that it took a month for me to do this. Kicking myself for not doing this sooner

It's gonna happen for sure! Rubbing alcohol and qtips is what I've used to remedy the problem.
I didn't have much luck with water + credit card, but a little water and toothpaste did the trick. Is this a one-time fix, or are you afflicted people having to do it again after more time passes?

So far, so good!
I was so glad I read about this before my recent vacation, my wife was taking pictures and they were all blurry and my phone was the same. I did the credit card and spit and it fixed the problem.
I started noticing my pictures from my phone were getting quite blurry, so I followed the instructions. The only thing I did not know was the "film" I was taking off was actually black. Once I figured that out....I got everything cleared up.
Thanks for the info!
Noticed it on the front camera today. Broke out the ole toothpaste again...All good now!

G2 quickwindow cases on clearance for 14.99 @ best buy

Went into best buy mobile yesterday at our mall and they had the quickwindow cases down to 14.99, from 49.99. Picked one up, nice and thin and protects the front too. The window apps are nice too. Just a heads up in case you're looking for one.

I remembering reading once that the silver trim of the quickwindow would sit directly on the screen and overtime scratch it. Could you observe if this is true?

I heard that too but my friend has the quickwindow case and put a screen protector on the main screen which solved any scratching problems.

I purchased a used G2 off of criaglist that came with the quickwindow case. Upon first glance, you don't notice it. But after going outside and turning the screen at certain angles, you can definitely see some very fine surface scratching on the screen where the trim meets the glass. No matter how much I cleaned the screen, it didn't go away. So yes, it definitely scratches the screen over time. Now, I put a screen protector on it (which the previous owner didnt), and you can't see the scratches anymore. However, the silver trim started scratching the screen protector too. So now I just use a completely different case.
I can confirm that, bought mine for 3-5€ on ebay (because I wanted the blue one) and after a month I noticed tiny scratches when holding the phone under the sun. I'm not using the case anymore, well I should have, shattered the screen a week ago :silly:, but when I return it from repair
I try to fix the case by sticking something more smooth on the metal rim, but I still don't have any idea what would do the trick without looking too bad.
i don't recommend it. scratched my screen..
