So i got my Bionic unlocked, rooted and the GSM chip activated and successfully used it for six months in Chile but now that I am back in the states it will not register on Verizons network. I've heard some people saying it takes about 30 minutes to pick up signal but that hasn't happened after two days. I can go into the setting and try to change the band that is is on but I get a force close every time. I think it is stuck on the GSM radio bands and can't switch off. Now i'm trying to fxz JB back to the original using RSDlite but the phone isn't recognized and I can't figure it out. Can anyone help?? Thank you !
I can go into *#*#info#*#* and check what network it is set to, which is WCDMA preferred but it's not picking up anything from Verizon. I try to change it to one of the LTE / CDMA settings and I get a force close.
I'm also wondering if I could install Cyanogenmod because I do have root. Any thoughts?
Please help a brother out! I'm so naked without my phone

I was under the impression that the Verizon LTE phones had their CDMA authentication modified to use the SIM card for authentication as opposed to the IMEI as in non LTE phones. They also modified their 3G network to use SIM based authentication for 3G data as opposed to IMEI. If this is true it would prevent you from accessing the 3G CDMA based data network because the phone would be passing SIM based authentication for data and the network was expecting IMEI based authentication. In theory you could flash a different radio firmware if you can find it to correct this... but currently as Verizon is the only carrier of this phone I do not believe there are any alternative radio firmwares available. Community....please correct me if i am wrong but this is my understanding.

You can use QPST to set it to NV only.
You can attempt to use QPST, however it would not accept the change. I did it using cdma workshop 2.7

the droid razr and droid 4 are basicly exactly the same phone. I used the info in this post (and the links in post #5) to switch my droid 4 over to pageplus. I have had 3g data, MMS and talk all working fine for a couple months now.

Need Help
Is everything the same on the Droid 4? I'll pay somebody to do it for me! I'll pay to ship the phone or whatever. I never have too great of luck with the CDMA Workshop or QPST. I DO know how to access the User activation and everything on the phone with the ##PROGRAM then press send and put in the 000000. Any help would be greatly appreciated from anybody. I just got my Droid 4 in the mail today and called Page Plus to activate only to have them tell me LTE couldnt be flashed to Page Plus. What if I called them and used the IMEI and dropped off the last number? Would that work if I just called them and gave them that? HELP! LOL!

Right around early May, my droid 3 and my mom's droid 3 stopped gettinng 3g. Ihave switched in and out of airplane mode, switched from cdma to global to gsm and got nothing, and even called verizon about it. No one can tell me why our phones have suddenly lost 3g capabilities. I also checked 3g availability online and double checked with my Nexus One, which still gets 3g. Does anyone know anything about this?

If both phones lost it at the same time, it sounds like a possible local Verizon tower issue. Have you tried traveling to another area to see if the phones gain a 3G signal or try with another Verizon 3G device to see if it gets signal.
Go to ##program and use the 000000 and set it to EVDO only

And lose voice connection. Exellent advice!
Had similar issue and fixed it by going back to stock, updating via System Updater method in the About Phone System Pref (wording of that may be incorrect but its there in the stock load out). After phone updated I re-rooted and reflashed the rom I was using and problem solved. I should mention that prior to doing that I had verizon customer support stumped and they had shipped me out a replacement phone before I realized how to fix it.

By forcing it to 3g it may force it to work.
You cannot have voice if switch to EV-DO only. It's CDMA. It is not just like GSM/UMTS, where you can switch to UMTS only and continue to have voice service.

I don't think he's suggesting it as a permanent solution, however if there is a hardware problem causing the 3G not to work, then you should be able to confirm this by setting it to evdo only. If it's having some sort of problem switching something on, then maybe the switch to evdo only will enable it and it might work when getting switched back to CDMA auto prl.

Thanks for clarifying. That is exactly what I meant but it was early in the morning and so having the clarification from someone more awake helps. Also I was aware EVDO only is just data.

It doesn't work with every operator.
For example here in Kazakhstan you can subscribe to 1xRTT only with simple handset or to combined 1xRTT + Ev-Do rev.A with smartphone or modem. In case of using service with smartphone switching to "EvDo only" leaves user off both networks.
have you tried a fastboot back to stock? it may be a software issue....
I am sure it is totally NV-item problem. Radio hardware is another issue.
I have changed NV-item 8035, rewritten all NV-items by those from whiterabbit, but still Ev-Do login being tried by MDN plus actual Ev-Do login.
I have recently rooted and flashed steel droid on my d3 and have come across a problem with sending texts. Sometimes people won't receive texts from my phone and some people won't get them at all. I am on the ICS AOKP version of Steel Droid and it is running smoothly.
Any ideas has this happened to anyone else? Please help.
Pfft - who sends texts nowadays anyway

Try EVDO only then auto. The phone is trying to use LTE/1x because that is what a 4g phone does by default I believe since there is no need for EVDO.

I've tried EVDO/CDMA and that just shuts off the antenna. So far the setting is the only one that works. I've also tried the 2G only setting to save me battery and that did do much either.
Hey guys,
I work at Sprint and my technicians and myself cannot figure this out. So I thought I would reach out to you guys!
I had 4G flawlessly on my phone for the first few weeks I had it. One day I got a SIM error that read something like this, "No SIM Card: 4G LTE will not work as SIM/UICC is reinserted". I popped out the little SIM card, wiped it off, and the phone read it and the error went away. Since then I have not had a single connection to 4G LTE.
All of our demo phones are on 4G lte as well as my girlfriends phone at home. I am constantly in 3G or 1X. Any advice would be great
Things I have already tried....
1. Updated profile/prl
2. Reprovisioned phone using ##72786#
3. Toggled settings using *#*#4636#*#*
4. Wiped and installed a new ROM
5. Played around with SIM card slot and rebooting phone
I am going to try a new UICC sim if we have one around the store...if that doesn't work im out of ideas!
I have no suggestions, but I have had the same exact problem the past couple of weeks. I got the error, but I didn't even pop the SIM card out. I just put the phone in airplane mode like I usually did when I got the error. When I took it out of airplane mode, my 4g was gone and it has not come back. I have checked all settings and I can't come up with anything. I also RUU'd back to stock just to make sure. Still no sign of 4g.
Let me know if replacing your sim does the trick, because this has been driving me crazy.
By the way, I know it is the phone and not just sprint messing with the towers or something, because my wife's evo 4g lte is on 4g all the time.

The phone is rooted. I don't think there are any other radios out for this device yet though. Thanks for your reply though
I'm a Sprint Tech and do not have an answer currently for you guys as I have been receiving this error as well and only just found this thread. Will try to research tomorrow and see if I can find an answer. I only received this message once as of yesterday and it went away seconds later. Tonight it reappeared and is sticking. Under app info it shows this is the Phone app that is sending out this notification. There is a possibility if you force close the app and then disable notifications for it that this error may go away; however, I'm not sure what other notifications we would consequently loose. Current corporate PRL is 55015 and I am running Viper 1.0.3 with stock kernel. I am wondering if this has to do with refreshing your PRL because I did not notice it until I requested it from Updates two days ago even though the actual PRL version number did not change.

yea that sh!t didnt work at all. this seems really stupid to me that our phone is having this issue what could be causing this why would the sim card mess it up?
Ok so the consensus is, this seems really stupid too but its the only thing I can figure, the SIM is loose. If you eject your HTC One Micro Sim and place a small piece of scotch tape on the reverse side of the connector, this gives the card just enough volume, when reinserted to consistently maintain contact with the reader as the SIM tray is simply too big and is allowing the phone to believe there is actually no SIM card inserted when the connection is detected as broken. Suppose this also explains the inconsistencies in various user experiences since we all have different handling habits. Any one else want to wager to guess why this problem is so intermittent?

I got my HTC one as soon as the black model came out. When I got the phone LTE was only available in the town I got the phone in. I live about 30 miles away. LTE has been live in my town now for the last month and I can not connect. If I go back to the town I got it in, LTE works just fine. I've done a ##786#, updated my profile, installed a corp prl. I am wondering if I need to revert to stock unrooted in order to update to LTE, or if ther are new radios. Any ideas would be appreciated.

So what your saying is, you bought the phone in City A, and you live in City B. LTE works in City A where you bought the phone, but as soon as you got home (City B), LTE wouldn't connect. However if you return to City A LTE connects and works.
I don't think the problem is with your phone, it sounds like the towers are not fully active in your city.
I would normally agree, however my wife has LTE and she has the exact same phone. My buddies across town have LTE also, one with an SIII and one with an S4. I swear the only difference is I have a rooted phone. I would assume it is the phone, but it works every time I hit the city limits of the town I purchased it in.

Just RUU the phone, and reroot. But to be quite honest, it sounds like either a ROM problem, a kernel problem, a powersave problem, or that LTE is disabled. Do a ##DATA#, go to edit, and under one of those tabs you willl be able to select the mode of operation. Select the one that says CDMA + LTE. If this is properly set and you don't get LTE, then you should install a good ROM and kernel. I recommend using d3rpOne as the ROM, and elemtalX by flar2 as the kernel. There are no radios to flash, or updated radios. PRL (stock PRL) will not inhibit LTE, nor will it enable it by using a corporate PRL. There is only like 1 or 2 PRL ranges which will disable LTE. If all else fails, RUU it. You should never do a ##786# on a custom or rooted ROM. After the RUU, i suggest you do the ##RTN# again. If you have LTE and your phone isn't defective, LTE will work. Then proceed to getting the custom recovery, and S-Off. Don't worry about rooting, since d3rpOne is already rooted.
RUU then ##RTN# fixes any and all configuration / corruption issues. If this does not fix it, have Sprint give you a new One.
Also, RUU'ing your phone will wipe the internal storage... Back it up first.
Thanks. I'll give it a go this evening. I'll let all know how it worked as soon as I finish.
