Hello,
can someone please tell me how to unroot my sprint hero back to factory? i have searched all forums and confuse on even where to start. If possible, direct me to the right thread.
i am using the damage control v2.05 rom firmware version 2.1-update 1.
any help is appreciated.
thank you,
VR
Wrong place mate
i dont know how you would do it for a sprint device, but for our heros we would use one of the official updates from the htc site
Moved to CDMA hero Q&A
just run the ruu found on the sprint site or htc site it'll take you back to stock
Go to either Sprint or HTCs site download the ruu and run it.
thanks all for the response. i will try that.
also sorry for posting on the wrong place.
I am looking at rooting my phone. I have a few questions but I'm not sure where to post at because I'm new on this site. I read through some root instructions, but the creators were not specific on some areas.
Does it matter what carrier I have if I root my HTC Hero as long as it is CDMA? I have Alltel. The instructions I read for this were not specific as to carriers, they just said CDMA HTC Hero.
My other question is when you root your HTC Hero, is flashing a new ROM to the phone part of the rooting process or something different. The instructions I read also did not clarify this.
Thanks
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
I don't know whether the carrier matters or not when rooting. You don't have to flash a ROM when rooting, but I would venture to say the the vast majority of folks are rooting to add a custom ROM. Especially with the Hero, due to it's limitations.
Edit: I found this post here. So I would research that a bit as far as carriers.
If you want to stay stock but remove bloatware, you can just root and remove with an app like root explorer. I would think about at least an overclocked kernel.

i know there are people on here who rooted from Alltel, the only thing is the majority of people have sprint.. so most of the custom stuff will come with sprints banner on it.. there are ways to change them and none of it is too hard at all to do.. its not a bad idea to try out some custom roms even if they are just custom versions of the stock rom..
i would check out this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=674788 it gives a break down of everything you will need to know both with the site itself as well as rooting your hero in general.. a good thing to keep in mind before posting a lot of questions is google is your friend, a search of the forum will bring up most answers to anything.. a lot of people around here get really ticked if you post questions that have already been answered, or if you post it in the wrong section.. but check out the link, any other questions feel free to ask..
I found this blog on rooting. It doesn't say anything about carrier. Does anyone know? It just says CDMA, which is what my phone is.

you can root being alltel, rooting in general is not carrier specific.. if you flash certain roms it may change your provider banner to sprint because it is the most common, but even that can be changed back and it doesnt affect your radio or prl.. if its a CDMA hero the CDMA root process should work..
read the post that posted above yours, and check out the link.. literally tons of information about rooting..
check my hero rooting guide, it is NOT carrier specific and will work on Alltell. fast and simple way to root.

Hello everyone,
Ok I just got the Sprint HTC One.I've done S-OFF, Super-CID, Unlock.
My Questions are:
1) Is there a way to use ROM from HTC One(not Sprint HTC One)
example any of theese: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2115#romList
2) And is it only me but if I do "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" with Non Sprint TWRP , the recovery doesn't load.
any links with nice, stable, battery friendly ROMs will work for me.
Thank you.

If you want a non functioning HTC One flash any of the rom's in the non sprint dev section.
Ok, So with Super CID I should be able to run any RUU? Is this correct
For example I want to use some European non Sprint. Is this going to work
No, you will probably brick your phone.

I am guessing we will see a post soon from this guy "stuck in bootloader".
At least you're asking for advice first, but you need to pay attention to the answers.

Alright, you can just answer and explain what actually I can do with SuperCID.
Not to make yourself the smart person here.
Ok, you are right, I will stuck somewhere but that's how we learn...when no one anwers us with real "answer".
dont think super cid is really very useful on cdma phones...
I'm not trying to be the smart person here, I am trying to help you. With super CID you can flash any carriers Rom or RUU, however with Sprint being a coma phone we are very limited so as far as I know having super cid is kind of pointless. Unless someone else knows better.

This is correct. If you read the info in the CID unlock thread it explains everything.
Super CID does allow you to use any RUU, but that doesn't help us as much because Sprint is CDMA, the rest of the varients are currently GSM. However, when the phone becomes available on other CDMA carriers like Boost or Verizon it will be more useful because those will work since they are CDMA as well.

To answer the original questions...
1. Not directly, you'd have to Port them.
2. You need to flash the Sprint TWRP, use either 2.5.0 or 2.6.1. The 2.6.0 version that is floating around is broken.
As far as good tons, I personally havent flashed any because stock, with a different launcher, has worked so well. I read through a lot of the AOSP based Rom threads and there seem to be some issues that need to get worked out before I would consider them strong contenders to the stock stability and features. However any stock roms should give good results, is recommend Viper Rom.

Give the guy a break; the Super CID is confusing to us Sprint users. Even the guy who posted the Super CID didnt realize till later that it wouldnt do us much good. If it isn't clear to you already, DONT FLASH ANY ROM THAT ISNT SPECIFICALLY BUILT FOR THE SPRINT VARIANT. And dont bother with super CID, even if/when boost and other prepaid options become available, I will have a hard time believing that development will skyrocket because of it. I have been working on three different roms for our beloved sprint variant and have dismal failures for going on three weeks. Couldnt figure out why everybody loved stock so much here, but I think I know now.
Thank you guys, now everything is clear for me :silly:
I am going to use my phone in Europe and in my country we use only GSM, we don't use CDMA at all.
Now I am using this rom: 42ONE - The Aftermath
Really Like it and recomend it.
i've tried with viper but more like this one.
I have a verizon htc one m7 I justed rooted with SunShine 2.0. What are my next steps to do? How do i install a recovery? When do I need to install SuperSU? I know these are newbie questions, but I want to make sure of what to do, so as not to brick my phone. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Welcome to the HTC One international section! The Verizon HTC One has different mount points, and has a separate recovery and utilizes different ROMs (when and if you want to do that). I have added a link to TWRP for the Verizon HTC one (m7wlv) below. It is in the Verizon HTC one section. There is also a FAQ thread dedicated to the m7wlv in the Q&A area of that section. Check it out! It has some good info.
Follow the instructions in the TWRP thread to flash recovery and get su on your phone see you in the Verizon section.

Hey guys,
So I recently got the HTC One Remix (the Verizon version of the HTC One Mini 2) and I would like to root it and install a custom ROM for it (preferably Cyanogenmod). The problem is verizon makes it hard to do any of these things and sadly switching carriers isn't really an option any time soon so I am trying to make do.
HTC-Dev reportedly won't work with verizon phones and many of the solutions for the HTC One Mini 2 don't work for the Remix even though they are essentially the same phone. Cyanogenmod has the HTC One Mini 2 listed as a supported device but I am not sure if that will work with the Remix because a carrier is not specified.
I have yet to see anyone who has had any luck, so is there anyone out there at all who is running a custom ROM on a rooted HTC One Remix? If so, what did you use to obtain root (sunshine maybe?) and what custom ROM are you running?
I'm majorly new to this sort of thing so hopefully the solutions are relatively easy so I don't end up bricking my phone.
Any help at all would be much appreciated!

As far as I can see there aren't many hardware differencec between the two phones. The only problem is that at this point there is no other way of unlocking these phones then trough HTC dev. I don't think there is a lot of development going on with unlocking with other methods. How do you know HTC dev isn't supporting your device? Did you check if "All other supported models" in the list?

It a verizon exclusive and HTC Dev doesn't work on verizon phones. The carrier blocked it. There's also a disclaimer somewhere deep on the htc site.
Thanks though. I'm just frustrated because I like the phone but I also really want to root it. I've tried a couple of the easier methods like sunshine and towelroot and those don't work I'm only on 4.4.2 but with my low skill level in this area I'm not sure if there's much I can do. I know s-off and root aren't the same thing but that's supposed to make it easier to find a way to achieve root right?
Aha then i'm afraid there isn't much you can do. Only wait for s-off because but I don't think it is goanna happen. My previous device is a One X and they had a huge user/developer base but never achieved s-off. It seems HTC really did a good job at closing this down.
stock rom?
Hi all, I accidentally nuked my memwl stock rom via twrp.. am desperately seeking anything that will make it usable again..
Anyone know where I might find the original ROM? I have only found the stock recovery so far.

I need Stock recovery Please Send me the link :crying:
HTC One mini 2/remix stock recovery
Hi. I might be able help you here.
Here is a link to what I'm pretty sure is the stock recovery. Note this dumb forum won't let me post links, so reassemble this yourself..
h t t p s
w w w . androidfilehost . c o m
/?fid=95784891001615233
Can't remember the exact cmd line.. something like adb flash recovery <file>
Now for the rom, I'll have to see if the link I got it from is still valid when I get home. There's a guy 'jcase' I think on the IRC that uploaded his personal backup that worked for me.
To be clear, the rom is for the HTC One 'remix' - Verizon's branded HTC one mini 2. There is NO working cyanogenmod that I know of.
btw you will need the TWRP recovery to restore from the rom backup when you get it, so the stock recovery might only be useful if the flash still has the recovery image on it.
Certainly worth trying first.
Good luck,
-M
Xda Devs, please we HTC one remix users need a custom Rom and s-off for our device.... We would really appreciate it if you help us
