Just want to know about it. Obiviosly, the camera in 4.1.2 and 4.2.2 isn't mature, the image quality isn't good enough though focus is super fast.
bump
It's still not so good for me. Camera still performs poorly in low light conditions, I get lots for purple, blue, and red tinting still. I'm wondering if the newer 3.62 firmware will change that.

If you got colour tint issue, 95% is caused by hardware problem. You've to contact HTC to replace a new camera module for your One. Rarely can fix it only via software though there are some successful cases but they are very very rare.
I think the denoise algorithm is set too high which made image/video leak of details. Just wanna know if 4.3 fix that.

Hi,
I seem to have found a way to stop the ridiculous lag on the camera, although I'm not sure this will work for everyone.
I have a non-standard version of the Camera software installed (I think it's the Touch version from somewhere on here - not sure who, I'm pretty new here so please forgive me), but I've noticed that if I start the camera up, then put the device into standby for a few seconds, then turn it back on again, the camera is *far* more responsive, and this is for both still images and for video.
I have no idea why this is - someone more technically intimate with the Kaiser can probably shed some light on it, but it seems to work for me.
The only downside I can see is that it makes the low-light compensation stop working, but in situations with plenty of light there's no difference whatsoever in image/video brightness.
Andy.
Ya, weird how this works. This work around was discussed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=365345
camera is ugly?
my camera quality is so ugly i have one of the newsest camera software installed. i dont mean the lag or anything i just mean the camera quality is so blurry and unclear i have sharpness on high and styll :S
when i press a camera button to take a picture and it auto focuses before the green thing comes for juss like half a second everything is clear buh then becomes super blurry. any suggestions or is jus broken
Is anyone aware of an automatic camera flash tweak for the Fuze/Touch Pro out there? I love using my it as a camera but feel it is hindered by what should be standard issue on a phone of this caliber. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would also be interested in this, it's interesting they didn't make it like this.
I was thinking about this today, it has a light sensor so it can tell when it needs the flash.
unfortunately when you face the phone to take a picture the light sensor is pointing at the person taking the picture and not the subject...
That's right, but still the ambient light is the same. So it will know if you are in a dark place (when you definitely need a flash) or a light sunny environment.
However there are other, more complicated possibilities of engaging the flash light by examining the light coming to the camera itself - this is the way most Sony Ericsson phones work...
Yeah, this would be a good mod.
I would really like a different camera software/engine. This camera is so slow, to me its not worth using.
Good day fellow Butterfly S users!
I'm new to this forums and I was looking to expand my knowledge on this area.
First off, if I root a phone, what are the pros and cons?
Secondly, if I did root a phone will it get rid of the pink/purple tint with the camera? --Since I read somewhere that this is a software problem..
I notice a somewhat pinkish tint whenever I use the camera in lowlight. I tried reducing the ISO to 100 already with still no change.

I can't answer that because I don't have that issue and I think most of us don't

Rooting won't magically solve any problems with your phone. Rooting won't give your phone superpowers. Assuming it really is a software problem and a solution does exist (such as a modified camera app or firmware or kernel driver), rooting would most likely allow you to install that modified version on your device. Other than that, it won't affect your camera in any way.

AFAIK the generally accepted explanation is that the issue is HW related and caused by the image sensor's sensitivity to heat. I read about a user somewhere who performed tests and found out that the purple tint starts to appear on his device when the temperature inside the phone is >28C. His phone was a HTC One, but the same goes for the Butterfly S, too.
Personally, I did not run any such test though, as my device seems to be among the lucky few which are not affected by this phenomenon :victory:
I attempted to produce the purple tint using the following test after I purchased my phone:
1) 30 minutes of NFS Most Wanted, which "preheated" the device quite nicely ,
2) lights off in the room, so it is lit only the backlight of the screen of my laptop. (this ensures that a high ISO is selected by the camera)
3) camera on -> take some test shots
They were niosy as hell (due to high ISO), but thankfully free of any discoloration.
As for rooting...
If this is the only reason you want to root I would say: don't do it. By itself, rooting wont solve your problems. That is a fact. Rooting could enable you to apply a SW-fix though, if the issue was in fact a SW-related.
Hello all,
Today, like most on here, i awoke to find that Android Lollipop was being rolled-out and as such decided to download the ftf and flash it onto my device.
Everything seemed to work pretty well until i decided to take a photograph. It seems that the entire top/right-hand side of my images are over-exposed/super bright.
Is anyone else seeing issues like this?
P.s. i have tested using both the SE and HK firmwares and both are showing this issue, I have since reverted back to Kitkat and all is well camera-wise.
I am currently at work so will post images later.

Same. I think this is their "Improvement" to low light pictures.

If so, should it not encompass the entire image?
The affected 'area' is the same regardless of lighting conditions.
I originally thought there could be moisture in my camera, so I reverted to Kitkat to check.
I have also noticed some over-exposure, but related to light sources, as well camera losing its fluidness when in low light situations, just like it was on sports mode or something. When you move around it seems to be 20 fps or so. Absolutely fine in video mode, though. When there is more light I can confirm everything is normal. Moreover, when in low-light conditions, color reproduction is a little bit not accurate, it tends to shift towards yellow.
As promised, attached is a photograph taken of the ground in balanced lighting conditions i.e. no bright light sources or reflective surfaces nearby.
The side way 'L' shape of the disturbance seems to be continuous throughout images, which would usually suggest an issue with the actual camera, however the camera is fine on Kitkat.
**Edit**
I have also attached an image taken of a dark surface to highlight the issue.
i have shots with 4.4.4 and 5.0.2,
auto mode in lolipop sucks.
and 20 fps in camera, this is joke ;x

At lease you don't have 'ghosting' in your images
You issues seems to be with the actual camera issues (noise etc) sony left us with, as opposed to an actual bug.

How to fix that??
Hello. I have the same issue with you as well after updated the software to Lollipop. Are you still on Kit Kat or Lollipop has solved the issue?
Hi,
I've noticed pink spot/hue issue in the middle of photos taken by main camera my S21 Ultra (Exynos version).
I've checked that some condition must be met to recreate the problem:
- photo must be taken indoor when sunrise appear (but it should be dimm in the room not bright)
- photo taken outside when is cloudy (there is no sun)
- the light must be natural
- on gray and green (khaki) surfaces defect is more visible
Do you also have this problem?
I was send phone to service center twice:
first time camera module was replaced - unfortunately the defect remained
second time - the service stated that the phone and camera is functional
P. S. - laser AF is not a cause - I've covered up and hue still exists.
I've searched forums and found similar problem with xperia z3, htc, galaxy s5 .
I dont know if this is normal, or maybe software update will fix the problem or maybe this is hardware failure?
Really...don't know what to do anymore.
Have you tried to replicate the results using another camera app? If it looks the same, then it's not software.

Yes - hue was visible in other applications as well as in the service menu.

Definitely a hardware issue buddy... Keep trying with Samsung, print the images you showed us here and give them with the phone so they can see directly and not test it barely and not notice...
@nevellan
Good to see that you created this thread.
I've been noticing the same too from the beginning. Enquiring further, I noticed the same in two other units later. (All Exynos).
I did not /do not see the pink hue when the laser AF is covered.
However, my concern is why to have the pink hue in certain lighting condition irrespective of laser AF is covered or not! This is an issue.
... have also noticed that the pink hue disappears when focus enhancer is ON.
Pink Hue dissapers when focus enhancer is ON,becuase then is used wide camera not main (108 MP).

Try to hide the laser lens..if you still have this , it's a faulty main lens .

Not sure*.
Could be firmware.
Try:
Clearing the system cache
Clear cam data
Hard reboot.
Check cam settings; excessive contrast or saturation could cause it.
A factory reset will do nothing more than likely.
*test to see if it's purple fringing with some high contrast images ie backlit subjects

I did everything you suggested many times - it didn't help.
Covering laserfocus doesn't help either.

If you can return/exchange it do so.
No need to suffer from the get go.

I'm having a similar problem with a purple patch in the middle of the shot but only when photographing black objects in less than ideal light conditions, particularly black materials. The problem exists with the main camera and wide angle, Zooms seem ok. The problem also exists using GCAM. If I force flash there is no problem. Doesn't seem to be an issue in any other circumstances. Strange. S21 U Exynos 16gb.
I ve noticed this too, but only on the gray colors. I am up to date with the software version, july patch. Exynos 256 GB.

Plus, i haven t notice this thing until seeing this thread and tried to photo something gray, so i think this is not a big deal.

Ignorance is bliss
Looks like only Exynos devices are plagued with this defect, one more reason to pass on this problematic SoC.
