I apologise in advance if these have been answered before.
Background: I only intend to root this phone because the ram management seems pretty bad (keyboard refuses to open sometimes in web browser, and facebook messenger chatheads disappear, and minimised apps close very quickly), so I want to change the minfree values or use the supercharger script.
I can't find stock firmware for my country in the firmware thread.
I'm running stock firmware .254.
1: If I root this phone, is there a easy way to unroot it? Like deleting the superuser apk from system files, etc.
2: Will sony companion update this phone even if it's rooted but on stock rom?
3: Does the "repair" function in sony companion reflash stock rom?
1, 2 and 3. You will be able to unroot your phone with repair function in PC Companion. When you update your phone through PC Companion you will lose root.
Wytapatalkowane z Xperia SP.
Thank you so much for the answer!
does flashing kernal requires a factory reset or is it okay to go on:silly:

You don't have to. When you talk about flashing Kernel to root phone and then you will came back to kernel wich you have had before you don't need to make wipe.
But. If you want to stay on flashed Kernel (when you only flash kernel) you must have on your mind that some of apps can kill themselfs, or system will be unstable without wipe. This situation doesnt have to happen, but can.
does doomlord's root method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2440375) work on a stock Xperia SP? Literally just out of the box, everything stock. thanks
Yes.
Just first update official firmware to 2.254.

Well, since I rooted my xsp it seems to have lots of lags but those lags start after using the phone for a while and opening a few applications. Then it usually goes slower and slower until it completely crashes and reboot automatically or I reboot.
I also noticed that ram is getting full for no reason and as I said above, before it completely crashes it is trying to open the settings and then needs reboot.
Maybe I need to unroot? Just know that I unlocked the bootloader and rooted correctly without problems if it matters.

How can I do that? I don't want to root it with another kernel. Ι prefer to unroot if it's possible but I don't know how.

Root cannot affect your phone's performance, because all it does is give you root priviliges (acces to the system itself). I don't think unrooting will solve anything

Then what should I do? I need to reboot my phone about 3 times per day..
Maybe I need to relock the bootloader? Is that even possible?

If bootloader unlocked, PCC or SUS will not recognise your phone, so relock first. OR you can flash another kernel with better RAM management. Are you using Doomlord's kernel?
May be a solution

Hi !
I've experienced such sort of problems. I was on stock 4.3, I've unlocked the bootloader, install a Doomlord kernel (CWM) with flashtool.
I thought installing a custom rom (Advance XPERIA v1.2) will solve the problem, but it didn't ...:crying:
In desperation, I thought going back to a stock kernel.
To do this, I've download a full firmware (ftf), and with flashtool, I've flashed the firmware in flashmode but with these options :
_ Wipe: all unchecked
_ Exclude : all checked but kernel
_ Misc : all unchecked.
Reboot : no more recovery, but I haven't lost root, Titanium Backup doesn't complain, Terminal su remount -o remount,rw /system work, root browser Ok, ...
I've past the last two hours trying to make the phone laggy and instable, without success
Games, Album, Google Photo, Google Play music, switch fastly settings, camera with effects ...
Only the time will tell me if this is working ...
Sorry for my poor english...
Fred.
PS: The very last DoomLord kernel (v5) seems to suffer from the same problem about the RAM ...

Hey all!
I'm eager to upgrade my Sony Xperia Z1 to the latest and obviously greatest Android 4.4.4, but I've recently installed so many apps, both root and non-root that I do not want to do this over again. I finally got Timeshift Video working (took me longer than it should have, I'll admit) and I just don't want to go through the process again. So the question is: is there a way to update while keeping all data from apps intact, and will all root apps from 4.4.2 even work on 4.4.4 still?
Thanks in advance!

In order to keep your apps just do not select data before flashing. Now for the root I rooted my phone with a very strange way. I flashed the .108 ftf and then with adb i flashed the doomkernel(v21) to my phone. Then I booted up my phone and enter one of the recoveries (TWRP) select reboot and before rebooting it will give you the option to install super user. After this i powered off my phone (in recoveries reboot options) and connected my phone in flash mode to my computer. With flashtool i went to flash the .108 ftf BUT I didnt wipe anything and i excluded everything exept the kernel. When this finished I booted up my phone and it was rooted.
I just say what i did do not blame me for anything as if you follow my way you do it with your responsibility.(press thanks button if i helped  )

I'd like to know this myself.
I have a feeling a flash to an earlier version is needed. I've tried several outdated roots with no joy.
OP you will probably get ignored or told to read a 100 page thread.
Use Easy root for xperia
google it
I know, right! Well, don't download the EasyRoot because afterwards it asks for a key and the website to get it from doesn't even function (unstableapps.com).
i think we may just have to go back to iPhone, or wait for a truly customizable new platform, where you can change battery icons and fully control your device. there doesn't seem a way to utilize our phones any longer.

New Root. I didn't have any issues. Installed a recovery too
Newroot newroot newroot!
Guys just go to this thread and download this tool by munjeni. Easiest root unroot you can find. No need to go back to an older firmware n all. Just hit root/unroot and you are all set. Make sure you install proper phone drivers though. PC companion should show that c6902 connected. I had a slight issue while rooting since the phone was not getting detected. Simply reinstall PC companion and you are good to go.

Don't know a lot about root, my phone is on 14.3.A.0.757 and I used towelroot to root it and I am wanting to update to the official 14.4.A.0.108 firmware. Can I just click on the notification icon that comes up every time on my phone, or like go through the update centre, or do I have to flash back to a factory version of .757 first? Any precautions I need to take to avoid losing all data and/or breaking my phone? I don't mind losing root because I want to try it without it again because I think root is making it run very slow. I have a lot of problems with the camera being unavailable and taking 10 years to start up and just a few other apps randomly being non responsive etc. Any help would be appreciated.
I think it will "Couldn't Verify", but you can try to update it aswell.
No, you cant keep your data when you upgrade to .108
If you can keep it, there is no guarantee that the phone will have best perfomance...
So backup your data and flash .108 using Flashtool with FTF
P/S: Root does not slow down your phone...Apps does.......And every update is better in term of speed...
Hello guys, lot time ago i have rooted my xperia z with 4.4.4 android version. After that i had changed buttons/fonts and now i dont have stock of them. OTA - Over The Air - Type of update, means you download it directly on your phone and it updates, without the need of PC.
Recommended: Backup everything - Clean Install (via pc companion or flashtool) - install whatever you want
Second - chances of bricking by just updating to lollipop in your case are minimal, however backup first so you can restore in case of a disaster.

Yes, of course , with an unlocked bootloader it is really easy.
With a locked bootloader however the only possible way is to root it with Kingroot (chinese app), and then replace it with SuperSu.
Have fun!
