This thread was created to be an all-in-one-place troubleshooting guide.
As people add new suggestions, I will verify them and integrate them into the main post if they work.
This thread will not expand if users do not post, as it is designed to be a summary of the xda community's T-mobile G1 troubleshooting suggestions.
If you are experiencing the god-awful,but all to common, 404 error when you want to find a file for the g1, head on over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2407470 for a collection of compatible files!
-repeat: this forum can not function with out users adding their advice! If you have a g1 tip, even one that you would think would be common knowledge, please post it so that I can integrate it, if you don't want to be associated with giving not-so-great advice, then email me at [email protected] so that I can directly integrate it.-
MAIN POST
------This is the main post that will contain all of the tips.------
1. When you accidentally enter bootloader, do not pull the battery out, press on-hook/power + menu + off-hook
2. To enter safe mode on most roms (including stock roms) press the menu button from the time the g1 splash screen shows up to the time when the lockscreen/homescreen shows up.

We and I say We all need to particaipate in the updating of the wiki.xda-developers.com
Short Version:
Who is willing to build the frame work of the BlueAngel in wiki.xda-developers.com
Long Version:
If you look at:
wiki.xda-developers.com
Its great!! Unless you own a Blueangel.
Well I do!
Personally I am sick of reading the same stuff about fix.bat over and over again.
Personally It has taken me a few weeks to get were I am Now and yes I have been able to find out a lot but it was Painful.
I Still have outstanding questions that were not answered for at the time I asked then they were just plain "Stupid".
A Newbie asking a question based on his limited knowledge.
We still see these questions, also left unanswered.
So as we have all been Newbie's playing with our new toys, should we not help others based on what we have learnt.
I have spent some time looking at that Blueangle and posting a few topics.
What I still have is a collection of How to for the BlueAngle that I feel are wrong if placed in the forum.
These are at the moment finished.
How to: Find out what my device is before upgrading
Goes into GetDeviceData, explains the fact why you only see the device name if opened on the device, ect ect.
How to: Find the correct upgrade ROM for me
Based on the get device info,
goes into how to find the upgrade, understanding the naming of the ship file, checking if it has a password
all based on a real example with real threads
How to: Install a upgrade and what tools to use.
All based on what was found before
all based on a real example with real threads
I am working
How to: Upgrade radio
Also based on the same as above.
One can add to that the Extended rom stuff out of the Rom kitchen.
Now here is my problem.
- I cant do this alone
- I have no Idea about how to do even basic web pages
- My spelling sucks.
So my contributions to this project is:
I have 3 canned inputs and am will to add to them.
So all we need:
1) A Person that understands how to update the wiki.xda-developers.com and thus build a frame work that we all can build on.
2) A place to take about it and make suggestion or corrections
--> which we have in this topic.
3) A starting point
---> being my canned input.
And that reads only as:
Who is willing to build the frame work of the BlueAngel in wiki.xda-developers.com.
Although many people read this forum, and a large number help on answering questions in the forum.
only a few make great posts in the forum, and even less put something in WIKI. Although with the knowledge gathered here I believe this wiki has the potential of being the best reference on the net.
I would be available for help on editing/checking whatever you put in WIKI, if you want me to. Just let me know what you want me to do in detail.
M4io
Thanks.
I understand what you are saying however my main problem is building the frame work.
At the stage of the game I am not even able post a Quote with out getting the Quote text

See what I mean.
Others can do it, me no way
We can go further on my lack of forum knowelege.
In the past I used to start off by hitting the bold, qoute, ect buttions so that I had a list to cut and paste from.
Now I GROWN and can just mark the text and hit the bold.
See .... I would get so lost trying to link the first page to the next.
You would end up on one of my personal links and your wife would not be amused.
Think the edit / checking is a great option, thanks for that!
but do we have any takers for the frame work part.
Well if this newbie could figure anything out I would help you.
if you will tell me were your want what link, and which new pages you want i can make them for you.
like if you want a blueangel link on the the Faq to a new page BlueAngelFAQ. Questions like that I can handle, but you have to figure out how the framework has to be. And supply the contents of the newpage.
some forum pointers :

wil give you some nice text instead of just the url like this :
this thread
Ok
under:
Other HTC devices
We need a new Link
BlueAngle
Which points to a new page. (BlueHome)
On that new page we need a photo on the top of a BlueAngell
We Start with one simple sections and have that a Title.
How to:
Under how to 3 links to a postion in a new page (Help01)
How to: Find out what my device is before upgrading
Linked to pointer in that same page (Help01:Findevice)
How to: Find the correct upgrade ROM for me
Linked to pointer in that same page (Help01:Findrom)
How to: Install a upgrade and what tools to use.
Linked to poiner in that same page (Help01:Instal)
I have the file in the same format as I would post here , will that work ?
So in total 2 new pages, home and help.
The help page will have 3 text blockes that can be fopund over the bluehome.
You still with me? and can you set that up and I dump the text in it.
like this?
I saw the link on the home page pointed to a different page than the page that was already there for the blueangel.
now they all point to Blueangel with lowercase 'a'.
... ah, and now m4io else has just created HTC_BlueAngel with capital A.
hope he sees the other page too.
yes, we were doing the same at the same time.
you can delete mine , it has no use now no
and http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BAHowTo should also be deleted
MDAIIIuser : you can edit this page :
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueangelFAQ
ok done
Now have a look at it I have formting problems
This is wha the first part should look like
In order to change your ROM to a higher or different Language version you need the following information.
1) What is my model Nr?
2) What is the Language Code of my ROM?
3) What is the operator code that my phone was shipped as.
4) What ROM do I have now?
5) What ExtendedRom do I have now?
6) What is my Radio Version
How to find all of this information in one place.
Step 1
Insure that your device is connected to your Desktop....
I get it all on one line.
Next problem
Under that cold you add
this is a qoote A
Click to collapse
so I can work that syntax out?
Next Problem
Can you turn the "?"Link of for C:\XDA-Tools\?GetDeviceData.exe
and change the color to blue, again to work out syntax.
You are cool and I am learning, thanks
Thanks
Help
Ok lost again
Solved the nunber problem and thus created a new one and that is how to stay in the same numbering with text betwwen it.
What I need is a command that will generate a new line and yes I have tried the <new-line> and a few versions of it.
What I need is some color (blue, red)
What I need is getting rid of the "?" links.
Feel free to edit the page in so that I can work the syntax out.
Hey it looks Like s**t but its a start
Thanks!
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueangelFAQ
have you see the TextFormattingRules?
a newline is three percent signs: %%%
this wiki has no support for colors.
the '?' links mean that you typed a WikiWord, and it has no page yet.
if you don't want it to be a link, add a tilde ( ~ ) before the word.
Have now! Thanks itsme.
Will sombody take a look, do some fixing on the spelling, give me some feed back?
Thanks
2 down 1 to go.
Hey buddie!
I can do some adjustments if you like but I don't know how!!!!
Explain it to me and I'll help!!!

Help
Hi all
I need some help!! with the Wiki Home Page.
1) I would appricate it if somebody would deal with the home page and look at the info that is there, if it is upto date and usefiul
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
2) I would appricate it if that person would add the following sections to that home page:
A) Getting started with my Blueangle on Wiki
----> Linked to the content of:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueangelFAQ
Yes you need to change the page name But keep the content.
B) Blueangel Exteneded Rom Kitchen
----> Linked to a blank page that I hope I can work on
C) List of know Blue angel, sold as, Model ID, Operator code etc
----> Linked to a blank page that I hope somebody will work on
D) List of Know Upgrades (Ship.exe)
----> Linked to a blank page that I hope somebody will work on
E) Wiki Development page
----> Linked to a page that has:
--------> Wiki Test Page please read and edit
--------> Wiki Test Page Please do not edit (add your name here)
--------> Wiki Test Page Please do not edit (MDAIIIUser)
My Spelling is poor on a good day, so if the link is spelled wrong just correct it.
3) Will somebody please look at the content of
"Getting started with my Blueangle on Wiki"
And correct it for spelling understanding ect.
This is what I have done sofar and as said above the link might change
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueangelFAQ
==============
Lets not get in each others hair!
So can Please each of us post what they are going to do on this site.
I will start:
MDAIIIUser Will work on the page Blueangel Exteneded Rom Kitchen and use his test page under devlopment for that.
Thanks for all the help so far
mmm, the aim of WiKi is that EVERYONE can update EVERY page.
so: Go ahead & Good Luck
I think it would be more appropriate to add those sections to the main Blueangel page
i think currently there are some links on the homepage that are too specific.
also some of the himalaya, and wallaby links should be moved to their phone pages.
then on the homepage more a general introduction, to what kind of information about what phones is available on this wiki.
I moved to Himalaya stuuf from the HomePage to the Himalaya page.
I also added a Sitemap link on the homepage, which could be useful
Mio4
First of thanks for doing a clean up!
Alas I fail to understand how to link a page form the Blueangel Home page
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
To the content of another page:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueangelFAQ
When I go into edit of the Blueangel homepage, apart form getting lost, I get
* BlueangelFAQ
Which seems to be the name of the page that it is linked to.
That is all I see, that is all I can understand.
So my problem is that although I have created informtion that I would like to post I just don't know how to:
1) Open and name a page like BA_GettingStarted
2) Link that named page (BA_GettingStarted) from the blueangel home page over the wording
"Getting started with my Blueangle on Wiki"
so that the blueangle home page reads like this
BlueangelFAQ
Getting started with my Blueangle on Wiki
List of know Blue angel, sold as, Model ID, Operator code etc
List of Know Upgrades (Ship.exe)
Blueangel Exteneded Rom Kitchen
Given that info I would be able to add a few other pages without having to beg somebody to do it for me.
Would you please explain this so that I and others can also add infomation to Wiki.
Thanks
that is what a wiki does, make it really simple to link, and create new pages.
you create a link, just by typing the a pagename, with at least TwoLettersCapitalized, or, if your pagename does not have 2 capitalized letters, you can put it between [brackets] to make it a link.
when you type a pagename that does not yet exist, and view the saved page with your new link on it, you will see it with a questionmark next to it. if you click on the question mark, you go to the edit page of your new page.
so 'BlueangelFAQ' is automatically a link, in a wiki.
if you want to give the link a different description than the page name, you can write it like this:
[your description|LinkName]
that is, write between [brackets] your description, and the pagename separated with a vertical bar symbol.
how to change this text?
How do I change the title of a thread that has already been in progress?
Never mind. Changing first post title doesn't seem to work...
I think edit has been opening already in advanced mode for me. If I use a second tab and edit a second thread the advanced button becomes visible and when pressed takes me to what I normally see.
Doing that changes the text when veiwed from within the thread, but from the forum it is not changed. Above i added the <test> but it dose not show up in the forum. Dose it take some time to take effect?
You're right. I was so sure this would work I posted without testing. Sorry.
Just tried it on one of my old threads and it doesn't update.
Strange...
Hum, I can't even do it and I have mod satus, I will post this in the mod section and see if an admin can point us in the correct area.
Hi Guys,
Admins and mods can change this by going to thread tools -> edit thread.
I changed some settings which should enable the thread starter to also change this.
OdeeanRDeathshead: can you test whether you can now change this?
Thanks in advance,
Flar
This is my Title and I can change it if I want to.
Now I see it,
Over edit and advanced you can change the title of the message but not the thread. Over Thread tools the thread.
But can the starter of a thread change his own title (I am not sure if he has thread tools, I would think not).
We wait to find out
Any place I can get the thread tolls to drop down, they do not contain the edit thread option. I still would like to be able to do this.
solution:
Hi Guys,
figured it out:
We wanted to give the user who started the thread unlimited time to change the thread title, therefore we changed some settings to a "default" unlimited setting. We've found out that this is not yet an enabled feature by the software developers.
In short: we must set a time limit within which the user who started the thread is allowed to change the title.
We've set this time limit to a week, within a week after starting the thread the user who started the thread can change the title.
This can be done simply by editing the post title, thread tools are only available to moderators and admins. (this is not how I thought this up, it's simply how the software works)
Hope this helps.
Greetz,
Flar
Thank you for your effort Flar. I think a week is too small. For example, I wanted to change the thread title on my GSMbeam thread to show that there was a security update. With ongoing stuff like that it takes weeks-months between the first post and the ongoing refinements. Why not just let the author have a very long period, a year would be good, to alter the thread title. I can understand that you may be concerned that people may totaly alter their titles after a while to get fresh interest in old threads but my motivations are valid. I leave it in your hands but if you can't give more time then perhaps a moderator could change the text to what I edited my first post in that thread to be.
I feel the poster should be able to edit his subject with no time llimit.
Lets take software, user x post appl y ver sion 1.0, then upgrades his first post with ver 2.0. He should change his own tiltle.
Sure mods could do it, admins as well, but do we want to ??
I agree as well. And I think its not just for those who post software (though as one of them I would like the option). Many 'fresh users' (my polite way of saying n00bs) start off with titles like "Pleeeeeees help me" or "Urgent!". I don't need to point out the problems with such titles and why they often prevent the poster from receiving an answer.
Often though they receive an advice and should be able to follow it and change the title to something more useful without having to bother the mods who I am sure are busy as it is.
If the software won't allow permanent permission to change the title it should be set to the longest period allowed (hope its more that a week).
I need to set a limit so i'm really sorry I can't put this on unlimited.
As soon as this option comes available I'll change this.
Untill that time I've set the maximum to a year.
Greetz,
Flar
thanks it worked now
Morning!
Im tinkering around learning about adding apps and customizations to existing ROMS. Im messing around with Tayutama Edition v1.0.2 (I9000) superslim, and i want to add shortcuts to the desktop and remove existing ones. Where would i find that info? I think i read its just in a xml file but i cannot see one that includes the information in the ROM
2nd Question: Do i have to keep the modem.bin file in the ROM? i just dont need to keep flashing it every time i test if the radio hasnt changed
3rd Question: I put in Handcent SMS into the /system/app to install when it flashes, but it crashes when i go to settings. Anyone else seen this?
Im very new to this, but a quick study! Any help is appreciated!!
Cheers!
Anybody Know? Maybe i posted this in the wrong forum? Arg i have just hit a wall and i cannot find the answers im looking for!!!
Cheers!
AllGamer and I share the forum-level moderating responsibilties for the SGS i9000 areas. While I have asked ragin (and ask the same of everyone here) to use the "report this" button at the top of every thread/post to notify us of things like this, this thread (and several others he has comment similarly in) are indeed misplaced and do not belong in the development section.
If anyone is unclear as to the proper location/placement for threads, particularly in regards to the development section, I advise you to read both the "STOP!! Before you post, read this NOW!!" thread at the top of each section...it has clear and extensive guidelines for what should and should not be posted in the development section.
We appreciate everyone's cooperation in both proper placement of threads/posts, as well as proper use of the methods for handling ones that end up here improperly
Deleted. Changed my mind about the question
hi all, i got a galaxy i9000 showing "too many pattern attempts" , hard reset didn't fix my problem, is there a way to?
br
This thread belongs in Q&A.
Please read the rules for posting in Development: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788800
.............................................
bono.bel, as chambo and lalaca have pointed out, this type of thread belongs in the Q&A section rather than in development...as someone with your tenure should surely be aware of.
Your english is good enough that we shouldn't criticize that, but members who take the time and effort to learn and follow the rules about using the dev section for its intended purpose do get frustrated when others don't do the same. Please just be mindful of that going forward and we'll all be just fine
That link that lalaca provided above is a good place to start if you need to go over those guidelines again.
thanks sirphunkee and sorry for the disturb, i didn't know that i should post my problem here.
It should allow you to enter your google email details to reset the pattern by selecting the "forgotten password" button at the bottom
What if you didn't set up a google email account yet because you just bought the phone?
This solved my problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8190670&postcount=9
i solved my problem by full flash.

Hi folks,
I'm opening this thread to provide a place for people who have questions or problems with the WebServer Native Access app to contact me and get support. I will monitor this thread as closely as I can. As always, PLEASE search before posting (seriously, it's in the forum rules)! Questions which have already been answered will get responses ranging from exasperated to snarky, or may get no response at all!
I am doing this for a few reasons.
1) People without at least ten forum posts can't post in the main thread, so this gives them a better option than PMing me (PLEASE don't do that unless it's some kind of seriously sensitive issue).
2) The main thread is a mishmash of version announcements, problem reports (and responses), discussion of the technology and capabilities, and various other miscellaneous topics. It's messy and makes finding what you're looking for pretty hard in many cases. If you have a question about the app, even if you have at least ten posts, please put it here!
3) The original thread has a lot of very early discussion of the app, which is mostly irrelevant now. Except for the top post, almost nothing posted in that thread has been updated as the app has progressed. I will try to keep this one up to date.
Stuff that goes here:
* Questions about using the app ("Does this work on the Lumia Icon?").
* Questions about the app itself ("Can I include the server code in my own app?")
* Requests for help ("How do I install this app on WP8.1?")
* Bug reports, although if you can write a COMPLETE bug report - environment, repro steps, expected result, details of what happened instead - you are also welcome to post those in the main thread.
* Discussions of bugs and issues that have already been reported, including suggested fixes or work-arounds.
* Feature requests, though these can also be put on the main thread.
Stuff that doesn't go here:
* General "Thank you! Very useful" posts; there's a Thanks button under every post I (or anybody else) make.
* Discussion of the technical details of the app (code suggestions, etc.).
* Unhelpful declarations that you have a problem ("It doesn't work!") - those don't belong *anywhere*!
* Requests for the ETA of a new version or feature (I can't give ETAs for something I'm only able to work on in my spare time)
* Anything that has already been answered, even in another thread!
F A Q will go here when I get around to writing one.
Reserved for now.
Dont Work on #920
Wow, I'm... sorry to hear that? Maybe if you provided even the least, tiniest bit of useful information (like, what happened, whether you were able to install the app, whether you were able to run it, what OS version you're running, the minor and obvious stuff) I would actually be able to help you.
Hi,
I'm trying to make an Windows Phone 8.1 App that provides 2 statics htmls to be loaded from a computer.
I had tried a lot of times to use the "WP8Native Access Webserver" but it doesn't work.
Can you say me a tutorial or an example app to see how to use it on WP8.1?
THX!
