speed dial is not present. even i was pissed off at this. i have worked around by creating a home screen dedicated to direct dial shortcuts to the contacts which were on my speed dial on my earlier device. one plus point of this workaround: i can have 16 direct dial shortcuts on one home screen while speed dial only provided 8 slots.

[Q] Double Dialer Pad on Nexus One running Cyanogen 6.0 rc3

first and foremost i wanna start out by saying that rooting my phone was an awesome idea. it started out as me just wanting to overclock the cpu and enable 720p recording but now that its rooted im really appreciating what actual full customization means. my phone is working near perfect and is stable except for the boot loop when i initially rooted but i did find one issue.
for some reason when i go into my dialer and press the area where the number shows and i cant figure out how to disable the second number pad that shows up. Any help?
Simple, just don't press the area where the numbers show. Just start dialling with the dial pad that's already there.

as simple as it sounds there are times in the lives of phone users when a number needs to be edited. so thank you for you suggestion but realistically people dont always dial perfectly. and in my case im in florida with a new york number so i need to add 1 to every number before i call out. so when im selecting a number off a webpage i have to press that area to add the "1" beforehand
Just press back burton to dismiss the android keyboard after you edited the number.

yeah. but i was curious if theres a way to just disable it altogether to be honest. the look of the second number pad on top of the stock number pad just isnt aesthetically pleasing.

Caller ID

Hello everyone.
I am in search of an app that can HIDE / BLOCK CALLER ID IN OUTGOING CALLS. This one is preferably for Indian users.
Hope to get answers soon

Hmmm, an app wouldn't do this, although I guess it could if it placed the call for you. Really you would need a feature code for this. Common one is *67 followed by the number you're dialing. Your best bet is a google search like "sprint feature code" but using your carrier. You could also try using the word "star" in place of feature. Some carriers will not have all features of their phone system enabled.
Edit: I guess an app could possibly do it, you could also search "anonymous call" in the market to see.

Using Gingerbread or earlier:
1) Go to Settings
2) Call settings
3) Additional settings
4) Wait until it initializes the options
5) Caller ID
6) Hide number
7) go back and you're done
Using ICS:
1) Open Phone app
2) Click on Menu
3) Settings
4) Scroll down, click on Additional settings
5) Caller ID
6) Hide number
7) go back and you're done
I had a hard time finding that option in ICS (either on my Nexus S with ICS rom or on my Galaxy Nexus), so I used an app for a short while to hide my caller ID. There's quite a few on the market, but there's a free one which works great for me on ICS, it's called "myCallerID). I don't know if it will work for every country/carriers, but here's a link to it...

@avinashdelhi900: I found the built in feature to block the caller ID in ICS, see my previous post (that I just edited for reference)...

Yes I have a Galaxy Nexus, and it's awesome! I must admit I'm quite happy I've sold my SGS2 to buy this.

Google voice to dial contacts

I wonder if anyone else has tried to use voice to dial a contact's number and connect it to one of thier lines. I have used this feature on the desktop. But it doesn't work on my TP.
This is somthing that looks as if it is all there to work, but the connect button is locked out.
What a great feature, if I could pick up my tab,, look up a person and push connect. Then answer my phone to talk.

The microphone would have to work
He is talking about the features where when you click "Connect", you get a call on your phone...which is connected to that number...its a great feature on the computer...But I dont this it works on Tablets.
Yes
I just want google voice to place the call using my touchpad. Then I will pickup home phone to talk.
One day the land line will be obsolete. But I still use it, Along with google voice.
I love how you can have one phone number. And connect it to whatever you want and when.

It works from a web browser on your tablet, just not the app.

Sweet mama
I just flashed the new gapps and it works great.
Just like I imagined it should.
Thanks. Google

Okay update
It's not quite like I imagine.
It works from the voice app when I fill in the "to"part.
But not when I use the contacts widgit and app to access the number I want to call.
That is really what I hope to see working.

Since there's no phone API in this build, there most likely won't be the ability to do it, since the GVoice app taps into that API (from what little I know of how it works), and dials the custom-made GV-based number for you to call that contact. It's why I have to use the web ui myself, since I'm in Canada, and calling the US is atrociously expensive.

I posted this at wpcentral please help

I have tons of questions about my new Nokia Lumia 822 and Windows phone 8.....
1. Is there a good video chat app like facetime ( iphone ) or google talk....i have a 7 month old I love see while I'm at work.
2. When I create a new text message and I type the first letter of someone's name it only pulls up some people and not all. Example: J for John and I get jenn or Joe bit not John. When I type John I get noting...also when I type k
for Katie nothing shows up....as for the phone app is there a way or option that when I type the # corresponding with their. First name it pulls them up example 6 for m
At least in WP7 you could scroll in the suggestion list to see the additional entries. Perhaps they are just not visible because there are too many hits. There is no smart dialing in the stock dialer but there are Apps that support it (altough those are a little awkward to use as well).
For Video chat I would suggest you use the one that works everywhere: Skype.
Thanks for the help...i have Skype dl however I don't see anywhere it says video chat....why would it not pull up names in k if I only have one?

I had the same issue until I realized I didn;t have their phone number stored as a mobile. It was work or home and the Messaging app only pulls up numbers stored as mobile.
You can find the people under the + sign, or you can change the peoples number to mobile and it will fix the issue for good.
The quickest way to call some one by name is go to people and type name

Thanks Ludo....i actually figured that out yesterday after messing with my numbers....i just feel stupid it took me so long to figure it out.
I got Skype to work on WiFi but not lte...i don't know if its my wife's crap iPhone 4 or if windows can't handle Skype on lte....i wish windows and android could come up with a video chat that works as well as face time and as easy to use...you would think by now they would have...skype is ok its just blurred.

I have used Skype's video call on LTE. Works fine.
Aside from some heat while charging, Skype over LTE works fine for me too. In Queens, NY.

[solved] smart dial not working?

Small annoyance: my smart dial is only recognising numbers but not letters. Does it work on your phone? It says dial numbers or letters in the phone app so I guess theoretically it should work...

Luckily cannot confirm this. In build 23.0.A.2.98 at least both (number & name) smart dial function works fine and as expected. I have not tested that on any other build, but you may just update and reset the mobile once.
Do you guys have speed dial? (Hold down a number to call someone) does the dialer work in landscape mode?

Yes and Yes.
On my previous sony model the smart dial worked only in English.
Strange! Well, my Z3C sample has fully working Speed Dial when set to English and to German.

Made a factory reset - problem solved working perfectly now. TY
Wait, does speed dial work for you guys? I can't get speed dial by long pressing the numbers or by looking through the settings/options.
This seems like something that couldn't possibly not be a standard option.

Hi. From start my phone had the exact same problem. But after aprox. one hour it went away by itself. I'm not aware of any changes I made in the meantime.
Maybe phone needed more time to finish indexing contacts after the sync or something like that.
