Hi,
I had some trouble with updating my stock rom because of custom recovery, but now I got it managed. Now I want to backup my stock recovery, which is on my HTC One right now, before I install cwm again. How can I do that?
I found out, that you could remote boot cwm with fastboot (fastboot boot cmw.img) and finish a recovery over cwm, but remote booting seems not to work anymore. Are there any other ways to backup it either? It was such a pain in the ass getting the stock back, don't want to loose it anymore because of cwm.
Regards,
m00h

What's your mainversion? You can find plenty of stock recoveries here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2463387
I'm on 3.62.401.1 right now, the latest stock OTA. I'm not sure which recovery this is, that's why I would prefer to backup the one I have flashed right now.

I have to return my phone and I cannot get my stock recovery back onto my One. I followed the instructions that were played out in the guide I used but either did something wrong, or accidentally deleted the initial backup.
If anyone with the rogers variant could please help me by providing the stock rogers recovery.img i would be forever indebted to you. A stock nandroid would also work.

This thread has the OTA for rogers. In the folder there should be a firmware.zip file that contains a recovery. I was able to use the to upgrade to 1.29.631.17 from .4 (took 3 restarts) but I never tried to the 4.3 update.

so is the firmware.zip the Stock recovery file? If i flash it, will i go back to Stock recovery?
Currently i am on Stock Rom, but the recovery is TWRP... so if i try to update the latest 4.3 by Rogers, it opens up the TWRP recovery and sits there.,..

I am sorry if there has already been a question posted on this, if so please direct me in the right way.
I have the HTC Developer Edition and am currently on Software 1.29.1540.3 and my phone has issued me the update (hurray! I need to fix the dam home and back buttons! so annoying...anyway) When I try to do the update (1.29.1540.16), my phone loads me into my custom recovery (ClockworkMod Recovery v6.0.3.1) which then issues begin! Forever is stuck in Run Bug_fix tool. WHY?! WHY?!?!?!?!
I have provided pictures of the steps that my phone goes through so if you can tell me anything about it, please do so thank you!

looks like you are with custome recovery, you need to flash STOCK Recovery for Dev edition and after that you will be able to install OTA.

Hi,
I tried to perform the software update using CWM V6.0.3.0 sadly what I got is "invalid command argument" and "can't mount internal sd card" !!! Please help!
@mikeg818 : you need to flash recovery in Fastboot Mode
@sampagna : you cannot update if you have custom recovery. So first flash stock recovery in fastboot and then do the update ( provided you are on stock ROM)

@x017in: Sorry for the naive question. I still have a lot to learn about android. I have rooted my phone to put down CWM. Now I know that I am having custom recovery, but I am not sure if I am having custom ROM or stock ROM. Custom ROM refers to s.th like Cyanogenmod, right?
Yep. That's what custom Rom means.. so now you need to put back the recovery that came stock with the phone. Only then will the OTA update work

How to flash stcok recovery?
Hey guys, I'm new to android so I was wondering how to flash stock recovery (steps, guide)? and what does it do? Those pictures show exactly what's happening to me.
By the way I bought the htc one developer edition, it was supposed to be new but it came with CWM. So It wont let me install software OTA.
HTC Pushed an update to my HTC One Dev Ed tonight..
1.29.1540.16
When it tries to flash the update it just goes into TWRP recovery. No other actions.
I then drilled down to the directory that it downloaded to /data/media/downloads and tried to flash with TWRP.. no dice.
Here is the update.. but honestly I don't know what it does.
any Idea on what is preventing the flash?

You must go back to stock recovery in order for the update to successfully flash on your device.
You don't need the update from HTC, just go and flash the latest revolution 10.2 rom, it is running 4.2.2 and it has some nice performance tweaks. And it isn't modified so it's running sense 5.

For some of us, going to a different ROM is not a viable choice, and frankly a solution to load a different ROM does not answer the original question.
Hi I have the same problem here.
When I try to install stock 4.2.2, the phone reboot & automatically enter TWRP & thus stock update was unable to run.

None of the HTC direct updates will work while TWRP is installed.
you will have to
Fastboot flash (stock recovery .img)
then the updated from HTC works with no problems. pst if you can't find the img
Think I have this figured out but just want some advice before I take the plunge! I have a Bell Mobility phone rooted with the lastest Viper Rom. Cracked my screen and want to return it for warranty...so what I gather is I need to relock the bootloader and flash the RUU?
As I cant seem to find an official Bell RUU I have downloaded this
http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1818-m7-cwm-nandroid-backup-cid-bm-001-1296665/
Sound about right?
No RUU for Bell is available.
Only one solution I thing
1) Get S-OFF (using revone) and unlocked boootloader
2) Flash CWM custom recovery
3) Flash this
M7 CWM Nandroid Backup / CID BM___001 / 1.29.666.5
from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39588860
4) Flash any stock recovery
5) Using revone ,remove TAMPERED , Lock bootloader.
6) Get S-On
7) Return phone to service.
ps.If you made the nandroid backup before flashed custom ROM , use it, instead of item 3.
it would be better.

well, if you get a md5 mismatch there's nothing you can do, this file must be corrupt then.

ok, so since the nandroid is for cwm and you are using cwm, this can not be the problem. are you sure that you've placed the nandroid backup in the correct cwm backup folder? so in cwm you can find it under "restore" but then you get an error?

pretty sure. I made a backup of the current rom, and then placeed the backup in the same folder. The most current backup restores fine, so i dont think thats it.

I am trying to learn how to back up stock recovery. I've searched Google and xda for the proper way to back up my stock recovery it sounds like I should be using ADB but it's been a little confusing reading all the post. Some say you need the custom recovery but if I flash a custom recovery how will I get a back up of the stock recovery. I would just like a reliable source to do this. my bootloader is unlocked I am S-off I am running software 3.31.651.2. any help would be appreciated.
Why are you wanting to backup stock recovery?
It's fairly simple to fastboot flash stock recovery if you need to.
Oh yes very true its easy fastboot flash a stock recovery. But every time there is an OTA I search for a stock recovery that someone else has taken the time to pull I would just like to learn to do for myself. as an example I'm running 3.31.651.2 (why I took that OTA I dont know I'm sure what improvements it made) but I havent seen a stock recovery for that one.
